Rate this book
One country that not much is spoken of in relation to World War II is France. For the most part, many overlook France in favor of the conflicts between other countries such as the US, Germany, Britain, Russia, and others. However, an important battle raged across the French countryside – a battle against tyranny and oppression. Learn about the brave men and women who fought back against German occupation of their homeland.

“Great look at one of the aspects of the war that you never really hear about most of the time. Germany’s occupation of France was a BIG deal, and it is a testament to the resistance movement that you don’t read a lot about that; that just means that it was a successful movement that accomplished its goal.” – Linda P. (Bryson City, USA)

“This book gives a fine, detailed account of the rise and events of the French Resistance, including the leaders of the movements and the deaths of those that were so dedicated. Although school may not have taught this particular historical period all that much, this resource is all you really need.” – Jack B. (Syracuse, USA)

“I appreciate the author’s diligent work in covering this important period in my country’s history. It was a long, hard-fought battle, but our men and women were able to accomplish what they set out to do in the end. I loved reading about their heroic deeds and the events of the movement!” – Jean L. (Paris, France)

This book showed me a side of Moulin I didn't know. When we think of great activists, we often forget they also have a humane side that push them to act in first place. If you can surmount the tortures and gores he lived, you will see the beauty he contained in his soul. For me, Moulin remains an artist: an artist of the movement, an artist who used his sketching skills to draw a plan from his cell that ultimately liberated France. He carries the resonance of what Lucie Aubrac did for her husband.
