After being expelled from Hell, she woke up in her own coffin…

When Dora Carridine wakes up in her coffin, the first thing she plans to do is find out what happened to her friends since they were also exiled from Hell. But Dora didn’t come back entirely human, and everyone keeps trying to kill her.

If she manages to avoid being bitten by an over-amorous, Victorian vampire, being captured by the Vatican and being roasted alive by her neighbors, then hopefully she can find Kieron and find out what she really is.

But first, she has to put an end to an ancient war amongst the paranormal beings on Earth. How hard can that be?

Claire Chilton is one of those authors that can write the most absolutely ridiculous things and it come out hilarious instead of just stupid. A suicidal vampire? A “spirit guide” just trying to get laid? Were-squirrels? Yes, yes, and yes. And it’s not like she didn’t warn us in a blog post she did for me a few months back that can be found HERE. You can find my review of Demonic Dora HERE and on my blog, Fang Freakin’ Tastic Reviews.

Deceased Dora continues the story of Dora Carradine, a 16 year old girl whose parents have attempted to “exorcise her demons” and escaped to Hell to hang out with Kieron, a hot young demon lord she accidently summoned in Demonic Dora. Well, now she and her friends have been kicked out of Hell.

This time Dora wakes up to find herself buried six feet under, and in a coffin, having been placed there by her “loving” father and things just get worse from there. She can’t find her friends, and her neighbors are still trying to kill her every chance they get. Her mother has run off to Greece (lucky bitch!) and her father has taken up drinking a bit more than communion wine. Now there is also some sort of Vampire vs. Werewolf feud/war going on that she has found herself right in the middle of.

I have a hard time remembering during the story that Dora is only a 16 year old girl. This book, like Demonic Dora, is NOT YA. I think part of the reason I forget that she is 16 is because she has more common sense and common decency than most adults do in this day and age, definitely more than the people who live in her town! Seriously, even though she went to Hell and all that fun stuff, she is still more of a good person than any of them seem to be!

This book is full of hilarity and there is really only so many ways to say that I loved it. Even saying “Why” I loved it is somewhat difficult because, for me, there was just so much to love. I love the characters, even douche magooch dad. I love the way Chilton has built the world throughout the series. I love just the general tone and style of the book. My ONLY complaint would be that I want more, and I’m pretty sure that’s the same thing I said about Demonic Dora as well.

Dora just gets herself into these crazy situations. It’s interesting to me though because underneath all of the absurdity, there are messages. The characters actually learn from some of their mistakes. Some of the characters grow into better “people”. Some of them are still dumber than a box of hair, but what can you do, really?

Kieron is still the horny “Demon Lord” who is in denial about how big his horns are and why he has beautiful feathery wings instead of black bat-like wings. We get a little bit deeper into who Kieron is, and learn things about him at the same time that he does. I thought it was a pretty good surprise. I also read A Hint of Hell, which is Kieron’s story about when he was in Hell taking his Mock Exams. I read it after I read Deceased Dora, but it probably should be read before it. It’s not very long, but I did enjoy it more than I did A Hint of Magic. I’ll be posting my review of it soon.

Pooey is still a ninja. I can’t wait for Chilton to finish writing his story. That’s going to be gooooood.

The bottom line here is that this book and series is definitely worth reading. If you are looking for something silly and fun to read, this series is totally for you. The books aren’t super long (which sucks for me), so even if you don’t love them, you don’t end up investing a bunch of time (or money) on a book you didn’t enjoy! So I say, spend the couple of bucks (the e-books are priced really well and at the time of this posting, A Hint of Magic is FREE on Amazon) and check out this series. Then let me know what you think!

I rather like this series. The book is chock full of quirky and interesting characters. It's like reading about a bunch of dysfunctional Angels and Demons trying to figure out life....Pretty much, this is a supernatural slice of life. It's as funny as it is cute. It's worth the read. I'm telling you.

Dora is concerned that her life is so difficult between vampires and werewolves but Kieron and poor pooey have it just hard if not harder than Dora. At least Dora has multiple people trying to keep her safe, even if they are trying to kill each other. This story continues with Dora needing to not only save herself, but save her parents, her church, and even the earth as they know it. However in her drive to set things straight, she realizes that those powers imbued in her by Hell may actually be killing her.

This book picks up right after Demonic Dora ends. What is nice about that is I am not wondering what happened in-between the two books or trying to read a chapter or two about all the things that happened. Another thing that I really enjoyed is that the author has maintained the continuity and writing style of the books. Some authors change the way they write in later books and I am glad that this has not happened.

Title: Deceased Dora
Author: Claire Chilton
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
Format: Ebook
Pages: 308
Rating: 5
Heat: 1

Main Characters: Dora, Kieron

Supporting Characters: Pooey, Terrance, Carissa, Lucian

Thoughts: This is one of the funniest series I’ve read! Dora is smart mouthed and snarky but quick on her feet hilarious. Throw in some obvious puns (werewolves under the full moon) and this adventure will have you laughing until the very end. There are some serious parts with suspense and excitement, perfectly combined to tell a great story. A vampire drama queen looking for his lost love, nerdy spirits using your memories to look like someone you know, and a powerful female werewolf that likes to play scientist (weresquirrels?), with characters like these you can’t help but laugh. I can’t wait to see what shows up in the next book!

Crazy Fun Dora is back from hell, but what on earth is she? More important, where are Keiran and Pooey?
With demons, vampires, witches, were-creatures and a scruffy flying unicorn there is never a dull moment in this episode of Dora's life.
This book is incredibly funny and had me laughing as I read it, but also has parts where I was on the edge of my seat, hoping Dora and her friends would all get through and not end up at the mercy of PISS! (Yes there's bad guys called that)
Fantastic series and recommended for anyone who likes funny with their paranormal.

When they're expelled from Hell, Dora, Kieron, and Pooey were separated. Dora woke up in a coffin. She's not quite a demon but she's not quite human either. She meets a vampire who is looking for his lost love and they are being chased by PISS, a militarized group from the Vatican. All she wants to do is find her friends but no-one wants to help her. Another romp in the world of Dora ( and I don't mean ' the Explorer' either). Ms. Chilton's tongue is firmly stuck in her cheek in this tale of loves lost and found.

Dora is...just something else. she cracks me up with her attitude of "I know everything"
and the way her mind works to get out of that trouble, she's quick on her feet

she got kicked out of hell and woke up buried in a coffin in a cemetery lol poor kid
reading about teens is not my thing but Dora just cracks me up! love this kid and the trouble she finds herself in
can't wait to read the next one

I loved the first book in this series, and the second one didn't disappoint. It was an action-packed, wickedly funny read about a girl who comes back from hell only to find that she isn't totally human anymore.

Most hilarious moment: When Dora sees a werewolf under a full moon (you'll know what I mean when you read it).

Better than the first.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has given the characters and world more depth without losing the wit and charm of the main characters. Though this story contained many more characters and implausible storylines,I found myself giggling and treating through the pages. Can't wait for the next story.

This book is yet another intriguing read. This is the second book in the series, and every bit as hilarious. In this book,Dora discovers that she's not exactly fully human anymore, and neither is Kieron a full demon. This does lead to some unique situations. An extremely enjoyable read.
