The Divine Song translated into simple Prose.

Chapter 1. Arjuna’s Indecision.

The Bhagavad Gita (literally meaning, The Divine Song or The Lord’s Song) is a classic epic of Indian spirituality. The Bhagavat Gita comprises of 700 Sanskrit verses and is a part of the great Indian epic – Mahabharata.
The creation of Mahabharata is attributed to Maharshi (Sage) Vyasa and is said to have existed for the past 2500 years. The Mahabharata depicts the conflict between The Pandavas (Sons of Pandu) and The Kauravas (Sons of Dhritarashtra), and is an account of the epic battle fought between them, on the holy battlefield of Kurukshtera.
The Bhagavad Gita, which could be regarded as an extract of The Mahabharata, lies at its core. The Bhagavad Gita is a transcript of the conversation between, Arjuna – The supreme archer, and Krishna – The supreme Lord, who is playing the role of Arjuna’s charioteer during the war.
On the sacred battlefield of Kurukshetra, as the battle is about to begin, on seeing his kinsmen and cousins standing in the Kaurava army, Arjuna losses his will to fight. The conversation that then takes place between him and Krishna is The Bhagavad Gita.
The 700 verses (shlokas) of The Bhagavad Gita, are divided into 18 chapters (18 Adhyay), which comment on every possible aspect of human philosophy, and pave a way out of every ethical dilemma one might face.
Not only is The Bhagavad Gita, a masterpiece of Sanskrit poetry, but it is also regarded as the greatest spiritual book ever written.
Though it takes place on an actual battlefield, The Bhagavad Gita, is a war within. A war every human being must wage within oneself to achieve a fulfilling, meaningful, and a moral life.
If no other Spiritual, Philosophical, or so to say, a self-help book was ever written in the whole wide world, The Bhagavad Gita would have sufficed.
In this book, I have provided the original Sanskrit text of The Bhagvad Gita, followed by its English Transliteration and then I have translated the original Sanskrit text of The Bhagavad Gita into simple English prose – without giving any spiritual interpretations and purports.
