This series comprises five fantastic books - three fiction and two non-fiction - with genuine boy appeal, based on the theme of weather. The accompanying reading notes support the teaching of comprehension skills and help raise literacy standards for all children.
Claire Llewellyn is a prize-winning author of non-fiction for young readers – in 1991, she was shortlisted for the prestigious TES Junior Information Book Award for Take One: Rubbish – and in 1992, she won that award for My First Book of Time. Since then, Claire has written more than 100 children’s books on a wide range of subjects. Ask Dr K Fisher About Animals was shortlisted for the 2008 Royal Society prizes for Science Books Junior Prize.
This story tells about a few different types of weather, like sunny and snowy, and what you can do during each. It would be ideal for preschool. The students could read the book and discuss different things that they like to do during each weather type. They can then make a creative drawing of their favorite weather type and them doing what they like to do during that time.
