Mammals trying to survive on an aquatic colony planet…nice hard edge eco scifi…

Blue Planet v2 Player's Guide is a players handbook for the second edition rules. Despite blue planet being nearly 30 years old, it only recently developed a 3rd edition.

Set on the distant planet Poseidon in another star system, Blue Planet follows a mixed bag of native and colonization on troupes while mixing scientific discovery and wilderness survival.

More importantly, due to genetic uplifting and technology, you also have the opportunity to play either a dolphin or a killer whale as a player character.

There’s a lot to “dive” into with this setting, but it can be summarized here. In the late 21st century, mankind and their cetacean allies colonized a distant water world. Barely a generation later, ecological collapse and disease outbreaks on earth caused the two systems to be cut off…

And now a century later, Poseidon is still reacting to the “return” of earth folk over a generation ago.

It’s some wild stuff, and even offers decent chances for space based adventures if you’re into that.

However, the meat and potatoes are on cooonial life on a watery world, appealing to fans of Seaquest, Waterworld, the Abyss, deep Blue Sea, and whatever other aquatic genre story you might have in mind.

A truly unique setting with a massively developed backstory and resources in the core books. The mechanics are very minimal, which is a refreshing change for a hard sci-fi system.
