Bad enough that the story started at a Halloween party where heroine is dressed as a KISS band member and the hero as a Lone Ranger. Even worse that the hero has a chip on his shoulder the size of Iceland, calling the hapless partygoers “hedonists” and “maggots.” I thought I reached a nadir when the hero is stopped from consummating their ONS because if he tried kissing the heroine, he would slide right off her white grease paint. But I only truly reached Hell when I came across dialogue like this: “I need to use your john. The wind played hell on my coiffure.”
