An intercepted message. Missing MI6 agents. And a traitor hiding in plain sight.

Reader’s Favorite Five-Star Review: "A modern-day spy thriller set amongst the windswept and remote Scottish Isles of Uist. Fun and exciting! A fast-paced, riveting story."

To secure her inheritance and escape a scandal not of her making, wealthy socialite Cairstie Henderson relocates to a small town in the Scottish Isles, far from the city lights and runways she once frequented. There, she encounters the Irish spy responsible for the public breakup that made her the laughingstock of the Scottish Borders.

Sheridan, a hardened MI6 agent, is on an undercover assignment to locate missing operatives and the mysterious traitor leaking top-secret information to the Chinese. Unfortunately, there’s one hitch: Cairstie Henderson knows his true identity—and she detests him.

When Cairstie surprises an intruder, she seeks out Sheridan, the one man who can protect her. Over time, these opposites give way to an attraction that eventually blossoms into love. But with a dangerous criminal stalking their steps and intrigue around every corner, will Cairstie and Sheridan obtain their happily ever after, or will they end up dead?

4.75 stars!

This was a great romantic suspense! Two agents, Mansfield and Wang, have disappeared. Sheridan is called in to track them down. Cairstie has been indirectly involved in a scandal and has just been informed that she can inherit her Godmother’s estate if she goes there and stays on the Scottish island for 6 months. Little does she know Sheridan, a man she very much dislikes, is there too and that there is danger afoot. Secret tunnels, dead bodies, deadly snakes, gunfire and mystery make for great suspense.
I really enjoyed this story! Sheridan and Cairstie have such an interesting relationship. They start off on the wrong foot and then the other wrong foot, then finally start to get along. I liked how their relationship progressed to a romantic one. Cairstie is also Dyslexic and I loved how Sheridan helped her with her not being able to read. I also liked that we had dual pov plus the killer/traitor’s pov. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I definitely recommend.

Once I started reading this, I couldn't put it down! As a dedicated romance reader, I was thrilled that this book blended suspense, mystery, and a romance that kept me turning the pages. The chemistry between the two main characters was off the charts, and the mystery had me guessing until the very end. Add in the constant suspense that kept Cairstie and Sheridan in danger, and this book was impossible to put down.

Cairstie is just trying to fulfill the requirements of a will to claim her inheritance, but she never expected to become the target of a crime. And, of course, while stuck at the estate for the duration of her stay, her protector is none other than Sheridan, the man who ruined her career and her last relationship. He's only there to assist her and solve his own case, but she's a liability, not only because she's the target of a criminal, but also because she's stirring feelings in him that he never anticipated!

There’s so much depth to this story that I don’t want to spoil too much... but if you love romantic suspense, THIS is the book you need to read next!

I was hooked after just a few chapters, and I loved it so much that I ordered some of Paige’s earlier works to dive into more of her stories!

LOVED it! You hit the ground running with nonstop action and intrigue from the get-go with Traitor In The Scottish Isles! This description had me intrigued and excited to read it from the very beginning: "An intercepted message. Missing MI6 agents. And a traitor hiding in plain sight."

I loved this story and could not put it down, from the suspense to the lovable, flawed characters with great chemistry, this expertly paced story is another win for author Paige Edwards. Her knowledge of Scotland and her talented storytelling make this story so easy to recommend!

Lady Cairstie Henderson moves to a small town in the Scottish Isles to claim an inheritance from her recently deceased godmother. There is a stipulation that she has to remain there for six months in order to claim it. She is reeling from a scandal where her name is linked with a former boyfriend, losing her a job in the fashion industry, and damaging her role as an influencer, and all her so-called friends have distanced themselves from her. Cairstie plans to use this time away from the spotlight and rumors to heal from the disaster. While she hates being away from civilization, she looks forward to the anonymity, only she doesn't count on being on the same small island as the Irish spy responsible for her public breakup.

Sheridan, the Irish spy, still healing from an injury on a previous dangerous mission is a MI6 agent on an undercover assignment to locate the missing MI6 agents and find the traitor passing highly classified information to the Chinese. A major thwart to his plans is that Cairstie Henderson knows his true identity and she can't stand him. "He personified everything wrong with her life." The Irishman was the bane of her existence. Sheridan has nothing against her, it's just that "if she stayed on Benbecula, she'd destroy his mission." "She might be frivolous, but she'd never been a fool."

I highly recommend Traitor in the Scottish Isles! I thoroughly enjoyed every page; the humor, the banter, the mystery, and the action. This story would make a great movie.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Edwards has written a fast paced and heart pounding romantic suspense novel! Sheridan and Cairstie are two uniquely different individuals and their dynamic chemistry was off the charts!! The mystery of who was behind the attacks was nail biting and I found myself suspecting everyone they came in contact with! The small town vibes made for a cozy setting and I loved the community/family vibe of the town of Benbecula. Even with their uncertainty of new people. This intriguing story will pull you in and not let you go until the very end. You will find yourself suspecting every person Sheridan and Cairstie encounter and wondering who is the traitor among them. Full of heart racing moments, Traitor in the Scottish Isles is a five star read!

If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, then this is a must-read! With swoony tension, a gorgeous Scottish setting, and plenty of page turning moments, this book will be sure to draw you in from page one.

To start off, I absolutely loved Cairstie’s character! She had so many (rather unexpected) layers. From the other books, I knew her as a rather defiant, mildly immature society socialite- essentially the Sharpay Evans of the Roxburgh family. Some of that still shown through during the early parts of the book (like her attempting to make scrambled eggs! Pure gold) but Cairstie’s experience in Bebecula really put her through the wringer. She was able to discover aspects of herself she was not free to explore when she was society’s social media sweetheart. And I was. Here. For. It!

And Sheridan! His passion, his protectiveness, his brusque and straightforward nature, his Irish brogue - he’s going to have you swooning and wishing you were the one living on a lonely Scottish isle! I loved that he didn’t treat Cairstie with kid gloves; rather, he demonstrated respect for her abilities while still finding appropriate ways to tease and joke with her. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but there were a few adorable romantic moments near the end 😍(iykyk).

The story also kept me turning pages and second guessing who I thought the enemy was. I loved that Cairstie got tangled up in the whole mess and was thus able to flaunt her hidden skills as a good shot and problem solver. Plus, the point of view from the enemy was appropriately creepy- he rationalized his terrible behavior so easily.

Overall, this was a great romantic suspense that can be read alone or enjoyed with the rest of the series.

“Ye’ve had a bad time of it. Can ye sleep with what’s left of the night? He asked.

“I’ll take Winkle upstairs with me.”

“He’s not much of a watchdog.”

“No. But you are.” She tossed him a smile and departed, looking more than a mite pleased.

This book was such fun ride! The longer I read, the longer I had to read to know what happened next!

The suspense was fabulous! With continually giving the reader hints and glimpses, it kept me guessing throughout the entire book. The little details were plentiful and made it that much better! Well played, Paige.

Och, the romance. When it is between a Scottish Influencer/Model (recently disgraced) and an Irish MI6 operative (with the body of a god and recent injury), how could you NOT care?

It was a thrilling to watch Cairstie discover her ability to take care of herself, advocate for herself, and get involved in cases she had no business being a part of. I also loved how she had to overcome a MAJOR obstacle.

Sheridan was charming, gallant, frustrating, and a man in love! When two parts of your brain conflict, how do you choose which one to follow?

If you love romantic suspense, this book (and series!) is for you!

I am always so happy when I get to read a new book by Paige Edwards! She's a fantastic author. Her stories pull me in and sweep me away to the incredible settings she uses. And I have to admit that her Scottish settings are definitely favorites of mine! I've been waiting for Cairstie Henderson's story since she first appeared as a secondary character in a previous book. Definitely worth the wait! Oh my word!!! This book was impossible to put down! From the first page to the ending, I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the bad guy was and why and hoping that Cairstie and Sheridan would be able to solve the mystery before one of both of them were hurt or worse! Eeeekkk!!!

I loved reading about Cairstie's decision to escape society and all of the struggles that she was facing and her determination to make it work. She has to go to a remote Scottish Isle and live there if she wants to receive her inheritance. And what the adventure she has when she arrives. But there's a problem...Sheridan! Hahaha! You'll have to read the book to figure out more about their relationship, or rather lack of one and why.

Poor Sheridan is smitten by her but she's not going to let him get off so easily with their history. I loved the banter between them and watching their strengths and weaknesses come together in this fast-paced and riveting suspense novel. You're going to love the spy aspect and the sweet romance. The balance between the two was lovely! I love a good clean romance; the wit, the banter, the tension, the chemistry, the friendship building to more...all of it!!! And this book more than delivers with the added tension of spies and suspense! Woohoo!!!

If you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of this author and her books! Honestly, just take my money and keep the books coming please!!! I'm so excited to see what is in story for us readers next from Paige Edwards. You can for sure bet that I'll be diving right into whatever it is!

Content: Clean. There are elements of spies and fighting, death, etc. But the author wrote it in a way that was not overly graphic. I'd let my teenagers read this one. I love that I don't have to wonder about content from this author that I know it will always be clean and that I can share it with anyone and everyone. There are several kisses shared between the main characters but it is kept clean and nothing further.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Traitor in the Scottish Isles" is the fourth book in the Roxburgh Scions series. The previous stories set a high bar for excitement. This book takes the action even further.

Lady Cairstie Henderson wants to claim an inheritance in the Scottish Isles after her godmother's death. She must stay six months to receive it. A scandal forced her to leave her modeling career. Soon, she encounters Sheridan. He is an MI6 agent working undercover to find a traitor. Their connection sparks right away. The story shows their relationship develop from dislike to love. The story balances danger, humor, and love well. The many twists kept me hooked. I loved seeing Cairstie grow with Sheridan's patient help. His humor was great. I liked him from the start.

The Scottish Isles setting came alive. I felt like I was really there. The town's quirky characters made the community fun. Danger lurks, keeping readers on edge. It was hard to put the book down.

If you know of Author Paige Edwards, you'll want to read "Traitor in the Scottish Isles." If you're new to her work, this book works alone. Still, reading the series in order is best because it adds depth to the characters. This book is a must-read for romantic suspense fans.

A riveting suspense that will draw readers in from the very first page. Ms. Edwards skillfully pens clues slowly, allowing the reader time to grasp the nuances of this multi-layered mystery. I found the mystery to be expertly plotted, without dragging at all. The isolated locale of the Uists is breathtaking, allowing my imagination to wander with the vivid descriptions the author paints of the Scottish Isles.

I love the way the story switches POV from the hero(and what a swoony hero he is), the heroine and the villain. The chemistry between Christie and Sheridan was obvious early on, and I couldn't help but smile at the witty banter and their respective internal monologues.

I love a good mystery and found this fit the bill, filled with traitors and spies, and plenty of danger to keep readers glued to the story.

Great book for a vacation read or a quiet night at home!

“I can’t think of another reason ye’d follow me out here unless it was my handsome self ye were missin’.”

Danger, suspense, intrigue, and a strong willed heroine against a gruff Irish Spy. Need I say more? I couldn’t put this story down. Constantly suspicious and never knowing or suspecting what would happen next made it such a thrilling read.

“I’ll be back. I’m like a bad penny. I’ll turn up when ye least expect me.”

Due to a mishap years ago, despising Sheridan must be put aside as Cairstie’s life is in danger and she refuses to turn tail and run.

“Never thought I’d be jealous of a dog.”

Sheridan becomes an ally as things quickly become life threatening. His skill as a MI6 spy comes in handy.

“I’m miserable without ye.”

Another amazing winner from Paige Edwards you’ll love how the search for a missing MI6 agent takes turn after turn and how sparks fly between this dynamic duo! Thank you for this amazing read Paige!

Paige Edwards continues to prove why she’s one of my favorite suspense authors. Her ability to weave clean romance, intense suspense, and amazing characters together is amazing.

I loved the Scottish setting with this one and kept reading with a slightly Scottish accent in my head!

This novel has it all; enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fish out of water, spies, and a spoiled rich girl in a small town.

If you love books with a perfect balance between suspenseful action and sweet romance then this is one you need in your TBR!

I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this book and couldn't wait to dive in! While it could easily be read as a standalone, it's actually the second installment in Paige Edward’s Roxbury Heirs series (with Flat Deception being book one).

This book was an absolute gem—witty, thrilling, and packed with unforgettable lines. Paige masterfully blends romance with suspense, creating a gripping narrative that keeps you hooked. I also love how she weaves in subtle touches of faith and spirituality without ever overpowering the story.

Sheridan.... was a dream. I’m a sucker for an Irish man, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. He and Cairstie were the perfect match—full of chemistry, sharp banter, and just the right amount of angst. Watching their relationship evolve was so rewarding, and their growth throughout the story made me root for them even more.

Some of my favorite elements were: Winkle the golden doodle, dyslexia awareness/inclusivity, Irish “accent”, there were multiple POV’s (including the traitors), forced proximity, the flirty banter between Cairstie and Sheridan, island living/close knit community.

I just genuinely enjoyed every moment of reading this book. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, and I can’t wait to see what Paige Edwards has in store next!

I love the setting for this book, although I have to say I didn't find the Scottish dialect very convincing! There's continuous action and a growing mystery to unravel and the interaction between Cairstie and Sheridan was pure sweetness. Secrets agents mixed with inheriting-an-old-house-with-tunnels proved a good cocktail!

All the love for this engaging, suspenseful romance! I adore anything set in Scotland, & throw in a charming Irish hero & I’m sold! I thoroughly enjoyed Paige Edward’s Traitor in the Scottish Isles & was thrilled to get Sheridan’s & Cairstie’s story. Both characters appeared in previous books, but the two together is absolutely explosive.

Cairstie Henderson’s a spoiled wealthy socialite & the baby of her aristocratic family. When she unexpectedly inherits a property in a remote small town in the Scottish Isles, there’s a catch. She must stay in the home for 6 months in order to inherit. The last person she expects to see there is the man who caused a very public, deeply embarrassing breakup, & her sworn enemy.

Sheridan’s an MI6 agent who’s gone undercover in the small Scottish town to locate missing agents & discover the traitor who’s leaking information to the Chinese. Unfortunately, his cover is at risk when Cairstie recognizes him in a pub. To keep his cover & protect her from a dangerous enemy who’s secretly bugging her home, Sheridan & Cairstie are forced to work together. But, can she survive the next six months with the much too charming Irishman?

I have to admit I didn’t like Cairstie at first. She seemed very spoiled & entitled. But, once she gets to the small town & is forced to fend for herself, she becomes a new person. I loved getting to see her vulnerable side & how dyslexia shaped how she saw herself. Sheridan’s definitely a charmer & I swooned every time I imagined hearing that Irish accent. I loved their remeet cute in the pub & that kiss! I knew their chemistry was going to be off the charts & loved the enemies to lovers vibe.

The mystery definitely kept me guessing. As with all Paige Edward books, the suspense & action provide one intense scene after another. The ending built to an exciting conclusion & definitely left me craving more of these two. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Highly recommend to romantic suspense fans who enjoy exciting action with only kisses. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are completely my own & voluntarily provided.

I felt like I was immediately transported to the vivid setting where there is such heart and depth within the pages of this story. It’s the dear character, the swoony romance, the sparks of chemistry without any spice, forced proximity, tension, enemies to more, twists and turns, flirty banter, under cover op, spies, non-stop action, humor, secrets, clever wit, intriguing suspense, and subtle touches of faith and spirituality, that kept my full attention and my heart happy. I've been excited about this book since it was announced! I love this series and couldn't wait to read Cairstie's story. This is a fantastic blend of romance, intrigue, and danger set in the Outer Hebrides off the coast of Scotland.

Cairstie Henderson, the youngest in the family, has inherited property from her deceased godmother with one stipulation—she must live on the remote island where the property is located for six months! Cairstie decides it's a good place to hide out until a recent scandal she's been associated with blows over, but she's unprepared when she runs into the man that caused the scandal she's trying to escape—Sheridan, an MI6 agent on a mission to track down a traitor selling secrets to the Chinese. Cairstie's move to the quiet Scottish Isles is meant to be a fresh start, but instead, she quickly finds herself tangled in a world of spies, secrets, and danger.

To me, Cairstie came across as spoiled, but as she started to become more independent my opinion of her changed. One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers, and Cairstie and Sheridan are most certainly enemies, but they're enemies with chemistry that practically jumps off the page. The banter between them is top tier and watching them learn to trust each other as they're forced to work together was fun.

The suspense in this book did not stop! It starts on the first page and doesn't let up until the bad guy is caught. The mystery surrounding the missing operatives and the search for the traitor kept me turning pages trying to figure out who it could be. I loved the multiple POV, especially that of the traitor. With heart-pounding action, unexpected twists, and a swoon-worthy romance, "Traitor in the Scottish Isles" is a must-read for fans of clean romantic suspense. I can't wait for the next book by Paige Edwards.

I received a complimentary copy but also bought an ebook for my personal library. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Mystery and Romance, my favorite genres...

The novel begins by describing a MI6 op that ends with the death of two agents...The Mystery part!

Lady Cairstie Henderson is a model/influencer who is dating a royal arrested for illegal activities. As a result, she is shunned in London society and loses her job. Shortly after this occured, she inherits her godmother's estate in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, a relatively isolated and sparsely populated area. The condition of this inheritance is that she must live there for 6 months.

Cairstie arrives in the Outer Hebrides determined to prove herself, obtain her inheritance and with any luck have the scandal forgotten by the time she returns to London. Keep in mind that Cairstie is the youngest sibling who has been pampered, shielded and never had to cook, clean or do laundry. She is also dyslexic. The first evening she discovers there is no heat or water. So off to the town she goes. But, when she gets to the tavern she runs into her arch nemesis, Sheridan the man who embarrassed her in an attempt to extract her from the royal before he got arrested. Which obviously didn't work. Sheridan is a MI6 operative undercover in the area to investigate the death of the MI6 agents. To stop her from disclosing his identity he kisses her and they both end up on the floor. But, Cairstie is very resourceful and blackmails him into helping her at the house with the water and heating issues. Sheridan tries to keep her safe and far from the investigation but that is not to be. Eventually their attraction becomes evident...The romance part!

Keep reading to discover who the perpetrator is and where the attraction leads Sheridan and Cairstie. She who vowed to never be involved with a spy and Sheridan who didn't think he was worthy of a royal and that a relationship with Cairstie or in fact any woman would not be fair as he is required to be away for long periods of time with his MI6 work.

Move over James Bond. There's a new spy in town. I loved everything about this book from the setting to the story and finally the multi-layered characters.

Cairstie Henderson has come to the Scottish Isles to not only claim her inheritance, but to flee from everything that is wrong in her life. She is definitely a spoiled city girl, who has had everything handed to her and done for her during her life, but this lady has some spunk. Do not dismiss her and think you have her figured out. What she does not plan for is running into the very man who makes her blood boil.

MI6 agent Sheridan is undercover trying to find a traitor and two lost members of their crew. When he sees socialite Cairstie at a local bar, he has to think fast so she will not blow his cover. Let's just say their initial meeting at a wedding was a complete disaster, and this second meeting is not off to a great start.

These two are forced to work together for her safety and wellbeing. I loved both of these characters. Their uniqueness is what makes them so likable. Do not assume anything about Cairstie. She is full of surprises as Sheridan will soon learn. Sheridan is broody and serious, but he is also a protector. There are a few humorous scenes mixed in with the mystery. One involving scrambled eggs will cause you to chuckle. Their banter back and forth makes this read even more appetizing and interesting.

This clean romantic suspense is full of intrigue and mystery, and the action will keep you glued to the pages. Lives are on the line and time is not on their side, so hold on for a bumpy ride. This mystery deserves the full five stars.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“Cairstie glared at the Irish groomsman during a lull in the receiving line. He caught her stink eye and winked. Pure gallus, that one!”

Paige Edwards’s latest book, Traitor in the Scottish Isles is out in the world and it’s one you don’t want to miss! This is a romantic suspense and it did not disappoint.

Cairstie was part of the scandal of the year all because of her ex boyfriend and Sheridan, her new brother in law groomsmen. To get away from the heartache and whispers, Caitstie goes to the Scottish Isles to secure her inheritance. I love Caitstie character arc! She definitely had a lot of growth and I love how creative she is when it comes to problem solving. The banter between her and Sheridan was hilarious! I definitely was chuckling throughout the book.

Sheridan is recovering from an injury when he is called back into the field to locate two missing operatives. The downside to his mission is Caitstie almost blowing his cover with in seconds of her walking into the local hangout. Then she blackmails him into helping her get her house up and running. Sheridan definitely has his work cut out for him right from the start. I love watching him slowly start to fall for Caitstie. It was so cute!

Traitor in the Scottish Isles is filled of mystery and suspense. If you love stories that has enemies to lovers, forced proximity and a little bit of spy work, then this is definitely the book for you!

It is part of a series but can be left as a standalone. Paige gives enough info on previous books couples that you don’t feel like you’re missing something. It’s fast paced and you wont be able to put it down.

These thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks Paige Edwards for the ARC.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
An intercepted message. Missing MI6 agents. And a traitor hiding in plain sight.

MY TAKE
Wow, but Cairstie really grows up in this book. You see her in the previous Roxbury Heirs books. To be honest, she doesn't come across all that well. It's nice to know there's a lot more to her than appeared on those other stories.

It's a complicated thriller with twists and turns and even a couple of times Cairstie makes choices that could have put her in the category of "too stupid to live," which had me worried. Fortunately, she survives despite what she does and the knowledge actually comes in handy later.

And don't get me going about the hunky green-eyed Irishman agent she already has a history with. Lovely romance woven through the tension with swoony conclusion.

Things I liked about this book:
* The story was well paced, on the whole
* There was plenty of excitement and a bit of intrigue
* The ending was different - kind of like a new beginning
* It was a fairly easy, entertaining read

Things I didn't like:
* Weird spelling of character names - I've never seen Kirsty spelled Cairstie before (even if that is how you pronounce it with a Scottish accent). It doesn't seem likely for someone from the aristocracy. Also, Sophy instead of Sophie, and Nigil instead of Nigel. It felt gimmicky rather than authentic.
* Some of the dialogue really didn't match the characters either. I can't believe that Cairstie would have used "aye" or "verra" in her everyday speech. She's the daughter of a Marquess - she may have a slight Scottish accent, but her speech would be very proper (think BBC British) and her father would be very unlikely to say, "aye lass" - sounds more like something the groundsman would say than a lord. I get that the author wants you to know that they are Scottish, but it was jarring to read. I nearly didn't make it past the third chapter because of this.
* Why was her godmother always referred to as Mrs McDougal? Why not aunt Caroline or something a bit more familiar? She must have been fairly close to the family to have been a godmother, surely.
* The stupid stipulation of the will. I get why there needed to be a reason why Cairstie couldn't up and leave when things got dangerous, but it seemed a bit unlikely.
* Also, wouldn't her godmother have had a housekeeper or something who could have stayed on to help Cairstie? It seems unlikely her parents would let her move to the outer hebrides all by herself when she is so completely useless at doing anything to look after herself.

This book has it all! I love Paige Edward’s books
A mix of spies, danger, attacks, and espionage mixed with just the right amount of laughter and romance as only Paige Edwards can do. Cairstie has had her life upended and her modeling career ruined, when she receives word that her godmother has left her entire estate to Cairstie. The one problem, she must live on the island where the hose is located for six months continuously. Little does she suspect that with the house she will also inherit a mystery that could cost her life. Sheridan, an MI6 agent, has been assigned to unravel the case of two missing agents on the same island that Cairstie is now living on. The problem, he must remain undercover and she knows his true identity and occupation. His efforts to get Cairstie’s cooperation result in her agreeing to keep his secrets but also strengthens her dislike of Sheridan. Yet when Cairstie is put in danger, the only person around that she can trust is Sheridan. As they face the threat together, they spend time discovering what the other person is really like. But all thoughts of romance must be set aside to keep people safe.

This was a perfect romantic suspense! @authorpaigeedwards does a fantastic job of creating multi-layered and individualistic characters that really draw you into their world!
Cairstie was a wonderful lead and I was very happy to get to know her better. She's been through a lot, and my heart broke for her over the loneliness that she was fighting. I absolutely loved her character arc and the way the northern island setting really helped her grow. She was so much more capable than people gave her credit for and I was cheering her on the whole time! And I loved Winkle
Sheridan was so fun! I loved his humor and banter! The way he helped and challenged Cairstie to grow was so sweet! He had so much on his shoulders and you could really feel the tension of the case weigh on him with its twists and dangers. The way he falls for Cairstie was so so sweet!
The romance, the plot, the setting, and the recurring characters from previous books in the series really brings this tale of romantic suspense to life!

What a marvelous change of pace this fantastic suspense story was for me. I loved the slow build of the mystery that revealed its secrets at the perfect moments to keep me reading faster and faster to get to the conclusion. Though I figured out some of the culprits, Paige kept me guessing with plenty of the others. And her characters were brilliantly crafted too. I loved getting to know Sheridan and Cairstie and seeing them battle each other and their enemies. Their enemies to lovers romance was a delight to read and their banter was top notch. The inclusion of the Gaelic and Scots way of speaking was so well done and matched the storyline perfectly. Plus the descriptions of the islands makes me want to hop a plane to visit there immediately. Definitely recommend you check out this latest suspense read from Paige so you can enjoy it for yourself.
