The End of the Spring isn’t your typical love story—it’s messy, raw, and painfully real.
Darsh is a hopeless romantic who believes love is about patience, understanding, and showing up when it matters. Shireen stopped believing in love a long time ago. Guarded and emotionally distant, she’s built walls so high even she doesn’t know how to break them down.
In a world of dating apps, situationships, and late-night texts that mean everything and nothing at the same time, Darsh and Shireen’s connection feels different. Their deep conversations, stolen glances, and unspoken feelings pull them together—but love in the 2020s isn’t that simple. Distance, insecurities, and the weight of past heartbreaks push them apart, forcing them to question if love alone is ever enough.
Told with unflinching honesty and poetic depth, The End of the Spring is a story of emotional connection in a disconnected world. It’s about the fear of intimacy, the ache of almost-love, and the courage it takes to let someone in. If you’ve ever struggled with the “what are we?” conversation or wondered if you met the right person at the wrong time, this book will stay with you long after the last page.
For fans of modern love stories that hit too close to home—this one’s for you.
The writing style of this book is poetically beautiful. The setup of this book is established in college. It's about two souls, who met in the college canteen, started off their conversations with life and a debate on Coffee and Chai, and made a connection instantly. Being a Dilliwali, the small snippets of Delhi (especially in the birthday celebration), made me feel full of joy. Delhi is not so bad yaar! This book describes the national capital so beautifully! The story of Darshan and Shireen is very realistic and raw. Darsh is a very patient guy with love so pure, while Shireen is a hesitant girl with a past she can't move on from. Their blooming friendship and romance was filled with a little 'nok jhok'. Their talking stage was hilariously cute. Their conversations were filled with banter that I loved! Even the smallest efforts that Darsh took, made a huge impact! He is a very charming character and I adore him. I really wanted Shireen to be more expressive, but that is how she is. And Darsh loved her that way, so who am I to complain? 🤭 Tamanna added more shine to the plot. I wish I could see more of her in this book. The turning point of the book took me by surprise. Somewhere down the line, I kind of expected it (when I reached 85% of the book). But something about it is heartbreaking. I don't want to give away any spoilers. This book is about love and heartbreaks. For a unique plot, you must pick this book up!
The book beautifully traces story of a guy around early adulthood who is still figuring out his life and how a girl reshaped his views about life itself. The inspiration from works of Dostoevsky and Kafka are like coriander to the dish, and the quotes in this book lives rent free in my heart. The ending had me weeping, sobbing, crying and what not! It also contains one of the best quotes to date. Highly recommend giving it a read!
If you love stories that make you feel deeply, ones that are both beautiful and heart wrenching, then this book is a must read. Get ready to carry this story in your heart forever.
