He’s arrogant, insufferable, and worst of all—completely immune to my authority. As my bodyguard, his job is to keep me safe. Instead, he spends his time getting on my nerves, ignoring my orders, and acting like I’m some helpless damsel in distress.
I hate that he’s always right. I hate that he watches me like he owns me.
And I really hate that my body reacts to him in ways it shouldn’t.
Once upon a time, I had a stupid, fleeting crush on him—the kind that should have died the moment I realized he was nothing but a cocky, overprotective menace. But then one night, I stumble upon a masked man in a viral video. A man whose movements feel uncomfortably familiar. A man who reminds me too much of the bodyguard I can’t stand.
I don’t know who he is, and I tell myself I don’t want to know.
But Alex? He looks at me like he already owns me.
Like he’s just waiting for me to figure it out.
And once I do, there will be no running from him.
ALEX
She’s my job. My responsibility. My most dangerous temptation.
Vaishnavi Navarro isn’t just the billionaire heiress I’m assigned to protect. She’s the girl who once made me feel something before I learned how to bury it. The girl I swore to stay away from.
But the problem? Vaish doesn’t make anything easy.
She pushes, and I pull. She fights, and I make her surrender. She thinks she can control everything—including me. But that’s where she’s wrong.
Because she has no idea.
She doesn’t know about the double life I lead. She doesn’t know that the masked videos taking the internet by storm—the ones that have women obsessed—are mine.
And she sure as hell doesn’t know that every time I put on that mask, every time I let the world see me, I’m thinking about only one thing.
Her.
She’s spent years pretending I don’t affect her.
But that’s about to change.
Because Vaish can hate me all she wants, but soon, she’ll realize the truth—she was mine long before she ever knew it. And I’ll make damn sure she never forgets it.
This was an interesting book, super entertaining, and it definitely kept me hooked. The story was great and usually right up my alley. But honestly, it was a lot. There was so much going on from start to finish, and the characters’ personalities were kind of overwhelming. I just don’t think it was the right fit for me, but I can definitely see other people loving it.
Just finished Masked Desires by Vaynisha Ezilan @vlwrites12. This book is slow burn, but the spice is great! The MMC kinda reminds me of Josh from Lights out Im not sure why I think it’s his golden retriever personality. This book follows Vaishnvai who takes over her father’s company. With an unknown threat to her and her family the head of security hires her a bodyguard who happens to be her childhood crush Alex. While she still hasn’t forgotten about her crush she is determined to keep living her life. Alex a genius who worked in cybersecurity as well as an underground fighter to help save money for his aunt and uncle. Alex comes and turns Vaishs life upside down, she’s very content on her quiet Alex is full of jokes and his cockiness holds no bounds. So will Alex melt Vanishs icy personality or will Vanishs life be in more danger to the point Alex can’t help? Well you gotta read it to find out.
🖤 Thank you so much Author for the free arc book. This book was such a fun ride! From the very first page, it had me smiling, laughing, and completely invested.
🖤 The dynamic between the characters was everything, Alex Marino, with his protective yet secretly anxious nature, was impossible not to love.
🖤 And the FMC? A total boss. Confident, sharp, and unapologetically strong, she carried the reverse grumpy x sunshine trope effortlessly.
🖤 The story had a great mix of emotions and humor, though I wish some parts had been fleshed out a little more. Still, the vibes were spot on, giving a blend of Lights Out and Butcher and Blackbird.
🖤 If you're into bodyguard romance with a fiery, independent heroine, this one won't disappoint!

A slow burn turns into an inferno. "Masked Desires" is my first foray into Vaynisha Ezilan's world. Vaishnavi and Alex are both dynamic and complex characters with traumatic pasts. There is a lot going on in the beginning and then the pacing slows down. It is a little repetative and a bit long. However, the slow burn instant attraction between the main characters turns into an inferno in the second half of the book which is great for the spice lovers. It is a dark romance so sensitive readers should check the trigger warnings. Overall, it is a good novel.
This is an independent ARC read and no compensation has been offered for this review,
Who doesn’t want a hot mouthwatering body guard to protect your every move, telling you what to do and when to do it who also happens to be a king of thirst traps, and let me tell you that, Alex does it all so very well.
He treats the FMC like a princess and when she finally notices, I felt the book fell flat.
I love the idea of what the story why about which took a long period to get where it’s juicy. I just feel the book should have had a little more substance.
Overall, I think this is a really good book. It is a little long but there is a lot of building on Vaish and Alex’s relationship. I wish there was a little more too the “big twist”. There was a lot of buildup then it happened and I was just left wanting a bit more of that story line since it is essentially the reason that the main characters are together. Alex is one dirty talking man and you might need a fan to cool off during some of the spicy scenes!
Masked Desires serves high heat, high drama, and so much tension, all wrapped up in a world of secrets and forbidden temptation. It's the kind of book where you're not sure who to trust, but you’re totally fine being seduced by the mystery anyway.
This sequel deepens the emotional stakes while keeping the chemistry sizzling. The angst? Immaculate. The yearning? So real. The characters are messy in the best way flawed, passionate, and impossible to look away from. There’s a definite darker edge here, but it’s balanced with vulnerability and emotional depth that keeps the story grounded.
Masked Desires is book one of the Desire Series and WHEW!!! What a way to start off the series!! Vaishnavi is needing more security after there have been a couple incidents involving the family business. She doesn't agree with the decision though! Bring in Alex...her new security guard! Alex is gorgeous, hot, sexy, and ..... annoying! Vaish and Alex have a love-hate relationship and their banter is hilarious!! This book is a slow burn with amazing character building! The plot is interesting and the spice is actually minimal in my opinion, but it's perfect for this romamce book!! Very enjoyable to read!!
4.25 stars for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I am a sucker for good banter and this book had it !!!! In fact this book had a little of everything … bodyguard, masks, strong FMC, touch her and d!3 , childhood crush, some suspense…. This book had me binge reading until my eyes hurt !! lol .. very cute and well written !! I was giggling and sweating all in the same chapter !!!
Ugh I’m so glad I was able to read this book! Had me from the beginning. The way it had me laughing in a heartfelt way. Definitely an enjoyable read. Loved loved this book !!
This book was everything. Alex Marino the Man you are and the whole bodyguard and masktok King vibe was everything. He is such a soft dom with mad anxiety issues when it comes to his girl.
And the FMC , she is a strong CEO with a no bulshit attitude. The whole reverse grumpy x sunshine trope was everything.
This book has a bit of Lights out and Butcher and Blackbird vibes.
