Snow war : an illustrated history of Rogers Pass, Glacier National Park, B.C.

Rate this book
After first describing the fearsome battle to survey and build the railway across the Selkirk Mountains through Rogers Pass, the book details the cost in human life of maintaining the road in the face of brutal winters and avalanches. The effort was so terrible that the route was eventually abandoned until the Trans Canada Highway was built where a modern team of snow fighters still battles to keep the Pass open. With map, black and white photos from railroad and highway eras.
