My thoughts: “Ocean’s Collide” was by far one of the most rollercoaster-like books that I’ve come across in a long time. I swear, after reading three characters’ POV’s alternating pasts and issues, my mind was practically reeling with a whole lot of astonishment.

I mean, there’s so much angst and like a shadow of darkness foreboding the aura of this book that even the three main characters (Livie, Lawrence, and Ocean) carry a whole lot of drama and baggage with them. Was kind of overwhelming to say the least.

description

Ms. DeOlmos has definitely stepped up her game in this book as there were several twists and turns I did not expect or forsee and the ending. My gosh, the ending!! It left me literally shocked with my mouth hanging on the ground!! What a cliffhanger!!

“Ocean’s Collide” is a very decently written book that will play with your emotions, throw you up and down, get you all hot and bothered, and leaving you hanging and wanting more at the end!!

Awww!! Melissa, you are such a tease!

I can’t wait to BETA the next book in the series so thanks for offering me the chance to!! It will be my first time ever so I hope that I can give you good advice and critiques to give your story justice! *crosses fingers*

Rating is 5 out of 5 Ocean Wave's

Livie has been threw hell and back with her mother. Her mother was a drunk and into drugs, there have been many times that Livie had to save her mom from herself. This is the one time that Livie wishes she didn’t ignore the call that night and take her time getting to her mom. When she walks in, her mother is already gone. Her mother spent years fighting herself and in turn it made Livie be the adult. But Livie has always held everything in until she felt like she was going to pop. There is only one way that she knows how to release that anxiety and anger and she hopes no one ever finds out.

Livie’s dad left her mother years ago. Livie never blamed him for leaving, but instead of going with him, she chose to stay behind and rescue her mom every time she needed it. He was her number 1 supporter in life and would give her the world if she would let him. They had this unbreakable bond that was impossible to think about crumbling, so she hoped her dad would never find out the secret she kept from him. It may just make his world fall.

Livie was taught Martial Arts and Jiu-Jitsu when growing up by her father. So she was kind of a workout nut and knew there was no better job for her then to work in a gym. She remembers seeing an ad for a new Martial Arts gym opening up and took the chance and headed there.

Lawrence Hawthorne is an ex-cage fighter who had this dream of opening up his own studio. His long time friend MacKenzie had an empty studio that was a gym that didn't make it and it was the perfect spot for Lawrences new MMA Studio. He is ready to move on in his life and past the things that hurt him when he was fighting.

Livie has just stepped into the gym that Lawrence bought and has come prepared with a resume and all. When Lawrence asks her if she is qualified for the job, she does more then answer him, she shows him by kicking his ass on the mat with her moves. She has no idea that it is THE Lawrence Hawthorne standing in front of her. She totally gets the job!

Lawrence has this feeling of protecting Livie. There is something about her that makes it hard for him to stay away from her. It is not like a romantic chemistry, but more like a brother/sister chemistry. The moment he saw her, it is like she brought Sunshine into his dull and dim life.

Lawrence needs his cousin Ocean. Ocean is the only person who can keep him calm and talk sense into him when he needs it. He needs him now that his dad is trying to take his mothers house from her. SO when Lawrence heads to Boston to see some lawyers that Livie’s Father set him up with, he needs Ocean by his side to keep him from murdering his father.

Ocean is currently the number 1 Cage Fighter in the World. when Ocean was having trouble staying off of drugs after an accident he blames himself for, he was headed to the bottom. Lawrence saved him and sent him to rehab, for this Ocean owes him.

Livie comes face to chest with Ocean Hawthorne and doesn't understand the way he is effecting her. It was like instant chemistry with these two. Ocean feels the need to protect her and shelter her and guard her with his life. He has never felt like this before with a female.

Ocean is this overbearing, jealous jerk when it comes to Livie. He always thinks the worse of those around him. He hates the way men look at her and how some of them come on to her. He knows that she could handle herself, but he has this caveman, green eyed thing going on and needs to pound his chest and fluff his feathers, letting others know that she is spoken for, even if they haven't made it official.

When Livie has an episode in the car, Ocean is the first one to come into the back and hold her. He knows at that moment that it is going to be impossible to not fall in love with her. Livie and Ocean are fighting their feelings for one another because each has something to hide from the other. They are afraid to let one another in and it just may keep them apart.

Livie needs Ocean as much as she needs the air she breathes to survive. Ocean seems to be the only person who can keep her calm and help the pain go away. Ocean is starting to catch on to what may be her secret, but he wants her to tell him. He wants her to trust him with her heart and let him in.

When Ocean walks in on her after her shower one night, he sees it right there in front of him. There is no way she can deny what he is seeing and he wants answers. Livie feels as if she needs to hide. She starts to run for the bathroom and on the way there, Ocean catches her and she does the only thing she knows how. She fights him. She fights him with everything in her until she can fight no more. It is here at this moment that she realizes that he really does love her. That he really is the only person who calms her down and can help her get through it.

“Ocean?”“Yeah baby.” “Please don’t leave me like everyone else, don’t let me drown Ocean.” “I hugged her tighter. “Livie I won’t let you drown. If you drown I drown baby.” I held onto her and closed my eyes, and silently cried myself to sleep.

This is the part in the book that I became a fan of Ocean for life. Any man that shows emotion, I am more than happy to love him. Ocean and Livie are finally moving in the right direction and are happy where their relationship is, until Livies whole world comes crashing to the ground with one phone call.

This book was always moving. There was always something going on that kept my attention and wanted me to continue to read. I mean who doesn’t love sexy fighters? I know right, we all do!!
I am definitely waiting for book 2 on pins and needles, needing to know where Lawrence, Livie and Ocean head to next.

3.5 to 4 Stars ~ on this rare occasion I rounded up my stars~

Great start to a series! This entire story takes place in just over a few days. It is a whirlwind of emotion, as the dark intertwines the lighter moments of their story. The author writes from all 3 POV’s, without repeating scenes, and without confusion. This is NOT a love triangle, but a connection between 3 characters that when brought together, find, that for some reason they need each other.

Law and Ocean Hawthorne are cousins and trained MMA fighters that have their own set of baggage and drama. And of course, the Hawthorne Boys are crazy possessive, and needless to say, HOT. Livie, grew up in a tough life, on the outside she is strong and learned MMA and kickboxing from her father, she is an all-around gym rat. However to recover from emotional pain, her coping mechanism is her own secret.

This story is always moving, and something is always happening that kept me interested. There is insta-trust, connection and love, in this story. But we are dealing with MMA fighters and they react on emotion and impulse, so I would not expect it any other way.

Book 1 does end in a cliffhanger, not one that you need to wait for the book 2 to be released, one that will set off your adrenaline, and eager for book 2. There is a lot more story to tell, I am anxious to see what is in store for Livie, Law and Ocean.

The reason for the 3.5 stars would be, I wish there was just a little more time to have passed, to allow for more character development. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, and there were a few grammatical errors, which caught my attention, but did not take away from the overall experience, so for that I rounded up.

Thank you so much for the opportunity in reading a ARC copy of this book, I really cant wait for the next installment!

-------------------------

I loved this, it was fantastic!

We get a raw, gritty story full of emotion. It happens over a short space of time, but it doesn't feel rushed, the characters are great, believable, they each bring something different to the book.

First off we me Livie, a sweet, innocent young lady, with lasting bad childhood memories! she has been through so much. You just want to grab hold of her and hug her into believing she is worthy of being loved and wanted, although she does have a good relationship with her Dad, but they live too far away to see each other regularly, but they have regular contact through phone, text and skype.

Hmmm Law, he should be illegal, all that hotness! He currently lives with his mom, but is just about to embark on a new venture, running his own Fitness Studio. This boy has a heart of gold, you can feel the love and respect he has for his mom.

Livie and Law meet when she arrives at his new studio looking for a job, they both share a love of MMA. There is an immediate mutual attraction, but do sense its not of a romantic nature, their lives are about to change forever, both hiding secret pasts but both have a need to protect each other.

Law use to box when he was younger, and we also learn that Livie has an affinity for martial arts too. It has something to do with her dad.

We meet Law's mom Layla, a tough but loving matriarch, who loves her son. She gets disturbing news from Law's Dad, her ex, and this send Law spiraling out of control, but Livie does everything to keep him grounded, they seem to know what the other needs!

Livie is a secret cutter, the pain helps her to feel nothing, its better than feeling the pain of loosing family!

We then get to meet Ocean, Oh boy! how can there be two very handsome hot hunky men in one family! The boys are cousins. Ocean notices Livie immediately, and I must admit I didn't notice straight away but boy are Livie and Ocean explosive together. They bounce of each other perfectly.

Although the book is face paced, it doesn't feel rushed.

The three each bring something to their friendship, which appears to be very solid with a deep understanding and love for each other!

Livie and Ocean have a deep love thats so real, believable and raw, they just get each other.

Livie and Law's relationship is brotherly and sisterly, they know how to calm each other down! He just seems to know the right thing to say or do with either Ocean or Livie at the right time.

Oh my! What a curveball, completely throwing Livie off kilter, with Ocean's help had started to overcome her issues, but then she hears about her father, and wow that sends her right off the deep end! not wanting anyones help! She goes back to the Condo, where she looses it so big that she finds a way of hurting herself! Flipping heck what an ending! Really want the next book!

First of all I want to say a MASSIVE thanks for the ARC, from the moment I received it I could not put the iPad down until I read the whole book (managed to read in just under 4 hours)..

This book is just jammed packed full of raw emotion,that will have every reader sitting on the edge of their seats wanting to know what will happen next.

It tells the story from 3 POV's and is fast paced but definitely not Rushed.

The 1st character is Livie Acosta, who has had a dramatic early childhood that scars her and she still battles with these scars as it shows right from the very beginning that she cuts herself. From the very 1st page you can tell this will be a cliffhanger and WOW M A Deolmos didn't miss a beat! With a sudden departure of Livie's mother, Livie decides with the love and help by her father who she is extremely close to look for her passion of MMA and personal training in her career . This is where she meets the very sexy Lawrence (Law) Hawthorne and from the moment they meet you can tell they have extreme chemistry but not in the way we all think. They need each other like brother and sister!

Law's entrance into the book gives a very detailed description of what he looks like (Alex Pettyfer... Yum!) Law has been boxing and MMA fighting all his life and it shows although he does have his past haunt him as well it is Livie that is his Rock! Law still lives with his "sweet but takes no crap from anyone" mother Layla. When Law gets news of his father's evil ways that try to hurt his mum Law decides to take matters in his own hands and This is where we meet Ocean Hawthorne, Law's cousin, who is also a professional MMA fighter with titles under his belt he also happens to look like Steven Amell- win win ;)

Once Livie and Ocean set eyes on each other the emotion and feelings they have us so raw and HOT they can't live and won't without each other, the same as Law needing Livie around the 3 decide to share a house together! Being that the boys know about Livie's cutting they do everything to help her stop! And they nearly succeeded when Livie receives the devastating news that her father has died. She goes searching for anything that will ease the pain!

And what a explosive cliffhanger at the end! So can't wait for book #2!!

Livie, Law, and Ocean quickly became my absolute favorite trio. There is definitely a lot of love between the characters and as a reader, you see that right off.

From the moment Liv meets Lawrence, you just know in the back of your mind (Without looking at the back cover!)that there is an instant connection with these two. Their spark ignites almost immediately.

And then we have Mr. Macho-Big-Muscled-Beefy-Man Ocean Hawthorne come into the picture. He instantly turns Livie's world upside-down. She begins to experience the feelings she has never once felt for a man...that special UMPH that awakens a woman's libido. (You know what I'm talking about!)

The love between these three characters is superb. But with good, also comes bad.

Livie, Lawrence, along with Ocean come from darkened pasts. And while the guys make sure Livie is well taken care of by placing her securely under their wings...they will soon realize that she is way more fudged up than they assumed.

Will Law & Ocean's love for Livie save her from self-destruction?

~~~Zarah's ★★★★ Review~~~
You Drown, I drown
I received this title courtesy of Sweet and Sassy Book-Aholics for an honest review
Livie (Sunshine) Acosta has had a rough go of it. Consumed by guilt she takes a very dark road trying to cope with her pain. But don't be fooled - she is one tough chick!
Attempting to take back some control of her life - Enter Law Hawthorne and while there is obvious attraction between the two, disappointing (for me anyway :-)) they are more like brother / sister or kindred spirits. Law pushes Liv towards his cousin Ocean and his thought that these two very damaged individuals might just save each other. (If they don't destroy each other before hand)
Now she has two fierce warriors fighting to love and protect her from her demons, but they both need her as much as she needs them.
M.A.Deolmos doesn't water down anything in her descriptions as the scenes play out - the story had me cringing with every swipe of the razor and tears welling at the torment the trio went through. This is not a hearts and flowers romance - it's raw and intense and the issues are quite confronting.
There were a few editing errors with mis-spelt words (waste I/o waist and wilder-beast I/o wilde beast) and I personally want a fan of the quirk movie and celebrity references used to describe how the character look but the Author explains this as being a quirk if Livie's.
If you don't like cliff hangers - then you will hate this as this one is a MONSTER! Again the author captured the pain and emotion of the final scene so well I was virtually yelling at Ocean and Law the "Hurry the Hell up"
I really enjoyed it - well done.
~~~Sharlene's ★★★★ Review~~~

Livie has been taking care of her mom for a while and neglecting herself in multiple ways. It's about time she meets Law and Ocean who start taking care of her for a change. Needless to say she doesn't know how to handle it. This sounds like your stereotypical romance novel but the set up and events of the book give it more of an interesting twist.

I really enjoyed the 3 POV's in this book. Being able to explore this story from Livie, Law and Ocean's perspectives made the book much more enjoyable for me. This is not a menage book but the characters are all very close. The characters were all very likeable as well. Although at times I felt they were a bit juvenile.

The book was an easy read. The author even provides translation for any Portugese that is spoken in the book. Don't know about you, but I hate having to use Google Translater for figure out what someone in a book is saying.

There is a major cliffhanger at the end of this book but the second book is already out so you can buy both. Overall, this book did not captivate me but I did enjoy it and went on to read the second book in the series.

~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~
This story is unbelievable in its depth of human emotion and in the bottomless pit of mental darkness and despair. It was enlightening to be present in the mental thoughts of the three troubled characters, Law, Ocean and Livie. Liv's lack of self worth lies at a minus zero which she compensates for by cutting herself. Her need to inflict physical pain in order to numb mental/emotional pain leaves the reader with a better understanding of the psychological black hole that one can fall into.
Ocean has his demons too. He and Livie fall in love and form an alliance to save each other. But is that even possible? Rather like the blind leading the blind. Ms. Deolmos skillfully weaves the different strands of passions, struggles, situations and events to form an exciting, entertaining and realistic roller coaster ride that has one hanging on for dear life. The cliffhanger will paralyze you and force you to reach for the next book. No way can you stop now! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, Five Stars!
Oceans Collide by MS DeOlmos
This book is a kick to the solar-plexus and will leave you flat on your ass crying for more. Its rawness and pain suck you in and keep you hoping against hope that things will get better. Trust and letting someone in is so much harder than people realize and you only make it if you want them in your life. I had no idea what this book was about other than I was asked to read it and form an honest opinion of it, I certainly had no idea what a dramatic end the book would have. One of the worst book hangovers ever!! I just hope the second book makes it out soon!!
Our lead female is Livie…She is twenty-three and when we first meet her we find out she has certain fetishes, or maybe harmful habits would be better at describing them. She loses her mom and tries to find her way forward, but it’s easier said than done. Her dad is her rock and they have a great relationship…one I envy very much. Even as her dad reminders her, “You’re twenty three and still my little girl. So get over it, kid.” You can feel the love off every word. He sets her up in a hotel and she sets about finding a job and not only does she find a job, she finds something so much more.
Our lead male….well the first one we meet is Lawrence or Law…*sigh*…he is staring up his own MMA training studio and you can feel the excitement radiate off him. He is twenty five and has multiple MMA titles of his own, so this was his next step or goal with the studio. He has a heart of gold but a temper to those who do him and his own wrong. Don’t cross him or the ones he loves. He and Livie meet when she comes into his studio and applies for a job. Not only does she get the job by proving herself to him, but she gets a cute nickname from him too…Sunshine! But what makes their relationship awesome is that he lets us know “Now I just wanted her in my life period. I wanted her friendship, her loyalty, and her trust more than anything else. She wasn’t like the other women I’ve met. She seemed special.”
Our love interest/other lead male is Ocean…*swoon*…Oh.My.God!....”I tripped over my own feet and collided with a body. Only this body wasn’t Law’s….The massive rock hard frame sent chills through my entire body and had my womb vibrating in a way I had never experienced before.” “Six foot two, maybe three. His tan was perfect defining his sharp jaw and facial features. His eyes were a warm chocolate brown that looked like they were rippling with deep sprinkles of green. His lips, oh my god, his lips.” I mean after meeting Ocean like that, what girl wouldn’t have her panties melted right off. Of course Livie doesn’t play nice at first, but she comes around quickly. For Ocean his cousin Law is a brother more than anything, and Law needed him so he showed up and will help any way he can.
Tempers and tension consume the book, from the main three characters to situations in their lives that keep them connected to one another. Law and Ocean want nothing more to protect Livie/Liv/Sunshine though they may have taken on more than they bargained for. The drama/love/healing/acceptance/and ultimately heartache are written in a manner you can feel, which I found made the book almost impossible to put down. Family love, bonds, and problems is at the core of the book, giving it a connection with the reader that you can empathize with.
Watch out for a somewhat cliff hanger of an ending…but here’s hoping it’s not too long a wait for book two!!
“I was damaged goods. There was no hope for a girl like me. Just a tragic ending somewhere along the narrow and forever winding road.”
“If you drown…I drown, baby.”
Ocean’s Collide is M.A. DeOlmos’ first book in her Ocean’s Trilogy. I was hopelessly lost from the beginning with the very well developed characters and their plight’s. From the very beginning I was drowning in story. I was captured by the way the author developed the characters. They were shapely and fully formed. I felt their pain, weaknesses, and passion.
Lawrence “Law”, to his friends is an awesome guy all around! Law was an MMA fighter during high school and was really good. I loved him from the beginning to the end. I could totally tell he was caring, funny, sexy and all with a heart of gold. He’s finally got together the funds to open his own MMA studio and he’s stoked.
Livie Acosta is a young woman coming into her own. She lost her mother and her father is all she has left. She is trying to lose track of the demons that disturb her. Livie is desperate to find a job and begin her career, in fitness of course. Of all the places in all the world, she had to walk into the newly opening MMA studio of Lawrence Hawthorne.
Ocean Hawthorne, the cousin and fellow MMA fighter, is angry. He’s mad at the world, upset with his family, and punishes himself regularly. After his stint in rehab, he’s trying to tamper things down. When his cousin, Law, asks him to co-own an MMA studio, he might just get the chance to start over, fresh and new.
Will Livie get the job of her dreams and stop her haunting demons? Can she find the happiness that she deserves? Will Law and Ocean’s studio be a success? Who will Livie give her heart to? Read this book! Just beware…there is a cliffhanger that will make you beg for the next book!!!
This story has everything! From friendship, compassion, and a bit of erotica but most of all love, the book is packed full. In a most unusual triangle with family and devotion, the author brought a new spin to how being under the most dire of circumstances that everyone deserves to be happy. I loved, loved, loved, reading this book. It brought tears to my eyes and caused my heart to sing. Way to play it, Melissa! ~TSRBR
There is only two reasons why Livie's mother would be calling her at 3AM, was either drunk off her ass and needed her help or two she was higher than cloud nine and she needed her help. She got two calls from her mother in less then an hour which means bad news. The company that her mother keeps around was down right bad news. Livie found her mother too late to save her, she committed suicide, there was a letter that her mother wrote to her but she doesn't want to read it yet. Antonio paid Tara, Livie's half of the rent to the end of the year, he also got her a suite and paid that for three weeks. Three weeks is all the time she has to get herself together, she didn't want to accept it, but her dad said she can and she will she also had to promise to go to New York. Lawrence met with Mackenzie at Starbucks to sign the lease and get the keys for his studio. He was so excited to go to the studio and forgot to lock the door and when he got to the front he saw sunshine. He looked at Livie's portfolio and asked her to fight him, he got knocked down twice and he gave her the job. He asks Livie to help him name the studio and she thought of HAWT. Law calls Ocean for his help, he comes to help him and he walks into the house and runs straight into Livie. He started to call her Zena and she didn't like it so she told him to call her Livie. They all went on a trip to Boston and Ocean walks into Livie's room and see's her scars.
Livie doesn't wear shorts or anything where people can see her scars, she is a cutter , kick boxer, she is 23 years old, she started Martial Arts training and jujitsu training at the age of eleven. She gets called sunshine by Law. Antonio Acosta is Livie's dad, he is a known realtor in New York, he is 42 years old and he left Livie when she was 18 years old. Lawrence lives with his mother while saving up money to start his own Martial Arts Studio. He is 25 years old , has MMA Titles, his father's a sore spot. He is very protective of Livie, he also sees the pain in her eyes. Ocean is Lawrence's cousin, he hasn't been home in four months, it causes to much pain, his sister was his world and his heart. He got addicted to cocaine, Law got him into rehab, he also sees the pain in Livie's eyes. Layla is Lawrence's mom, she is a pediatric specialist.
This story had me feeling a lot of emotion. I loved how I could feel the emotions of the characters. I also loved that they all have there own demons to fight. I also loved that I couldn't put this book down. This is the first book in the Ocean series. This is also my first book by M.A. DeOlmos and it most definitely will not be my last. I'm looking forward to the second book in this series. I loved her style of writing. If I could give this book more then 5 stars I would. I highly recommend this book.
Livie Acosta is 23. Her father taught her everything he knows about jujitsu, martial arts and kickboxing. This part of her life makes her happy but that’s about all that does. Livie has had a hard life with the people she loves either turning their back on her or completely leaving her. She is in a lot of emotional pain and there is only one way she knows how to deal with that pain, by causing herself physical pain.
Law (Lawrence) and Ocean Hawthorn are top ranked MMA fighters who deal with their own emotional pain. One has a habit of beating his dead beat dad while the other has fights with drug addiction. Can these three help to heal each other? They certainly want to try.
I have mixed feeling about this book. On the positive side I think it is wonderful that this author is dealing with such a wide spread problem of self-mutilation. Unfortunately this is a big issue in our world and it might help those going through it to read about a character who is also dealing with this issue. The passion between Liv and Ocean is HOT! Oh my I have to say their sex scenes had me reaching for my B.O.B. and that is always a plus for me while reading a book.
However these three characters are between 23 and 25 years of age but the way they act throughout this story was very immature. Emotionally stunted individuals do not always act maturely but I felt like I was reading about a pack of teen ages. The one character has broken his father’s nose more than once, they yell and physically attack each other when upset and cling to each other for dear life the rest of the time. I found their behavior very frustrating. Also, I had a hard time with the fact that these three have only just meet each other and within hours are so dependent upon one another that they can’t stand to be out of each other’s sights. Within a couple of days they are sharing bank accounts, moving in with each other and saying they could not live if the other one was not around. The author uses some lines that had me shaking my head. At one point Ocean says to Livie “I’ll never let you drown in this ocean, baby” and “I loved this girl so much that I wanted to punch her in the face for talking like that”. I couldn’t help but feel this was juvenile.
I won’t say I loved nor disliked this book; I’m not really sure how I feel about it. I give this book 3.5 stars with 4 hands down the pants.
~3 ½ Stars~
The beautiful cover and the synopsis of Oceans Collide caught my attention. It appeared that the story would involve damaged individuals with painful pasts and lots of angst, and it didn’t disappoint. It was a rollercoaster of emotions.
Livie is a young woman trying to make a change in her life that hopefully will be happier than her past. Her past is quite dark and painful, and she has a secret way of dealing with those emotions. She soon meets Law after getting a job at his new martial arts gym. The two of them form quite a deep bond and friendship, and that’s all it appears to be is a friendship which both of them need. Law’s cousin, Ocean, moves back to help Law deal with some family business and to be a partner in the new gym. It quickly becomes apparent that there is something deep and sexual developing between Livie and Ocean…this is not a love triangle! As I said before, Law and Livie are just friends, and that does not change throughout the story.
There were aspects I really liked about the book, and then there were some things that I thought would have made it better. I LOVED the characters. There were many layers to each character. For example, Livie was a tough chick! She has been trained to defend herself and make no mistake she is more than capable of taking on anyone! Yet, underneath, she is so vulnerable and fragile, especially in dealing with her past. Ocean is your typical alpha male who is an MMA fighter. He is vulnerable and fragile underneath as well. I thought the title of the book was perfect. Because when these two meet, it’s like two oceans meeting. They are both beautiful souls, yet there is so much turbulence that the two of them could end up drowning each other. The only drawback to the book was so much action in such little time. It’s so rapid that it’s hard to wrap your mind around all the things that happen. There is also a cliffhanger, but cliffhangers don’t really bother me. Plus, the second book is out, so you don’t have to wait!
I enjoyed Oceans Collide, and I liked that it was told from different POVs. So, I knew what each character was thinking. I am looking forward to reading the second book. It is already downloaded on my Kindle. I can’t wait to see the even deeper levels of Livie, Law, and Ocean.
This is not a smooth ride and nor should it be. So hang on tight as you get to know Livie, Lawrence and Ocean!
It may seem strange that in this we have three major players to contend with but that fact only adds to the pleasure that you will get from this story, because each of them brings their own dynamic to the tale and that is a great big fat positive in my book.
Livie has been through more than most growing up, my heart went out to a young woman that deserved better than she had.
Lawrence (Law) well OMG the man needs a health warning, he is just too good to be true. I want a friend like him, he was joyous!
Setting up his new fitness centre, means that he is hiring staff and when Livie turns up looking for work, the attraction is unmistakable. Not to say that what they have is carnal, because they seem to share a deeper bond and that means that they are destined to be the very best of friends.
When Law’s life seems to be getting out of hand following a situation with his father. It is Livie that is able to ground him and give him the stability that he needs. And when it is Livie that needs support, he is by her side to return the favour but this time he is not alone because he has a sidekick by them and what a man he turns out to be.
So just when we are all bobbing along , getting to grips what is happening to Law and Livie, in comes the indomitable Ocean, and oh my lord, what is in the water because he is damn well gorgeous!
Law and Ocean are family, cousins and Ocean not fully understanding the situation between Law and Livie wont step on Law’s toes but his reaction to Livie is primal.
From the minute he sets eyes on her, the temperature goes through the roof!!!
The three of them, are amazing, I loved the connection that they have and the dynamic that each pair brings to the scenario, Livie and Law are a tight as you can be, Law and Ocean are just brilliant together and Ocean and Livie- OMG they have something that is just so solid that I was smiling for them both.
Secrets and history are the driving forces of this story but it touches on aspects of life that are difficult but it does so both with tact and empathy.
I look forward to reading the next book
5 out of 5 STARS 10 out of 10 STARS if GR's would let me rate that high.
Let me start by saying “WOW” I cannot even grasp how to tell you how incredible this book is. The first chapter drew me in until I found myself at the end. OH!! And the end!!! M.A. DeOlmos how could you be so cruel to me?? I have to wait till April!!!
I love a good cliffhanger and girl you nailed this one. I kept turning the page back and forth saying “No? Wait? What? No, no, no!!”
For all you reader out there. You know that book that you finish and quickly look up the author to stalk on FB and find out when the next book is coming out to only be teased by pictures and excerpts from book two. (Yes I’m talking about you M.A. DeOlmos) I so stalked your page and then smacked myself in the head for doing it.
Let’s get down to it
Ocean’s Collide broke my heart. It is a story full of deep seeded emotional pain, addiction and need. It is an intense fast paced in your face kick butt read. With three brilliantly thought out characters, Livie, Law and Ocean. Each has their own individual story, but all 3 characters need one another to survive. While Livie is fighting to keep her inner demons within, Law is fighting to keep his out of his and his mother’s life. How they choose to do this will not only catch you off guard but have you asking why. And then there’s Ocean. Ocean has the pain of loss and addiction to deal with but does this while keeping Livie together as much as he can. Livie has a unique relationship with these men. One a friend she cannot do without and one a lover she cannot breath without. For fear of letting herself drown in her own demons, Law and Ocean keep Livie grounded and above water. But for how long......
Full of unexpected turns and conflict. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for all hell to break loose, and when it did it completely floored me.
I cannot wait for Ocean Submerged!!!
First thing to know, this is book 1 in a series and not everyone likes cliffhangers. Don't let that stop you from reading it (unless you get each book as they become available and then read them all together). I LOVE cliffhangers. That emotional high when you really want to chuck your Kindle against the wall and scream "NOOOO!". That's exactly how I felt at the end of this book.
You've got three main characters. First, is Livie. Livie has some emotional issues that she tries her best to cope with. Her coping mechanism isn't the best and she tries to keep it a secret. I like Livie, she seems like an energetic, passionate person (no, I don't mean sexually passionate, but more passionate about the things she likes). She's decided it's time to grow up and get a job and she takes the initiative to contact a brand new fitness center before it's even open.
Lawerence (Law) is the new owner of this future fitness center. The day he gets the keys, Livie walks into the gym and asks for a job. Her 'interview' was too funny but she had to show him that she understood what the facility was and that she could be an asset. Law and Livie quickly develop a great friendship (like within the first day or two). He feels this great need to protect Livie, even though he's not 'in love with her'. He only wants to be friends.
Finally, there's Law's friend, Ocean whose has come to help Law run his new business. The day he and Livie meet, there is instant attraction. They are HOT together!
This book is a great start to the story. The cliffhanger will keep me coming back for more. Guess I'll have to stalk her so I don't miss the next one.
A copy of this book was provided to me by the author as part of a blog tour in exchange for an honest review.
In Oceans Collide, Livie is our heroine and she has had a rough life since her parents divorced when she was 18. The book starts with Livie having one another tragedy happen in her life. We find out her secret that she hides from everyone. She is strong physically, trained in martial arts. In fact, thats what bring her to meet one of our heros, Law. He has a new Martial Arts Studio opening and she needs a job, one that she proves she is qualified for by putting him on his butt twice.
However, at this point, is when the story takes a turn for the worse for me. They profess emotional attachment to each other after only knowing each other minutes. Come to mean more to each other in less than a day and one meeting (not date). It just became unrealistic and unlikely to me. There were many times that I rolled my eyes because of the over attachment they had. I would of loved to have seen more individual character development at this part of the story. I understand they had a connection but this just went beyond fiction for my taste.
Then enters Ocean, our other hero. He's HOT. But once again, everyone is instantly emotionally attached and in love. The sex was H-O-T but that wasn't enough for me to say I absolutely loved this book. I will say that the author writes quite smooth, the plot was a good idea and she carried it well, it was the instant attachment that ran through the whole book that made me question how much I loved this book. It was easy to read, but the character development and relationships weren't there for me. If you don't have a problem with such issues then I recommend this book based on the plot and writing style. If you are turned off by instant trust and attachment among characters, you might have a hard time with it.
I didn't read the blurb for this book, I just picked it up and began reading. By the title I thought it was going to be some sort of paranormal mermaid story. Right after I started reading I realized it was not a paranormal book. The book starts with Livie and Law's points of views. Law mentions his cousin Ocean. That's when I was like, "Oh I understand the title now."
Ocean's Collide is a great book and it will not disappoint you. This book was amazing. It hooked me right from the beginning. This story has three POVs. We get Livie, Law, and Ocean's POV. It was really great to get into all three of their heads. Livie is a really strong character who has to deal with a lot of painful events in her life. She deals with her pain by cutting herself. Law and Ocean are both MMA trained fighters and have also had to deal with a lot of painful events. Before meeting Livie, he buries his pain in women and drugs.
Livie meets Law, when is applies to work at his new gym. Ocean and Law are cousins. Law has Ocean come to help him, and that's how Ocean meet Livie. They all need each to help themselves with the pain in their lives. Law and Livie's relationship is like a brother and sister relationship. While Ocean and Livie's relationship is very hot!
It's starts with a gut-wrenching scene and ends with a gut-wrenching scene. I didn't expect the ending, it was crazy. M. A. DeOlmos did a wonderful job writing this story and I can't wait for the next one Ocean's Submerged. This is a definite must read but make sure you have time to read it because once you start it you won't want to put it done until the end.
Have You Read "Oceans Collide"?
Oceans collide is in a 3 character POV. We have Livie the female lead who has had a rough life. Her mother was mean to her. Her father loves her and is always there for her any way he can. She loves working out thanks to her dad teaching her jiu ji tsu. She has her own way of dealing with her pain and demons but doesn't want anyone to find out what it is. Then there's Lawrence who is the owner of the studio where Livie wants to work at. He has his own issues and something about Livie makes him want to protect her, he feels strongly about her but more as a sister than in a sexual way. He used to be an MMA fighter like his cousin Ocean. Ocean is the 3 POV he comes help Lawrence with his new studio and some issues he's dealing with. Ocean meets Livie and falls in love with her.
Ok I liked the book, I can't say I loved it because I'm not a big fan of insta-love but if you are, then you will love the book. it's the first in a series. It had a good start, from the beginning the author pulls you in with a tragedy and if you're like me you want to keep reading to find out what happens. I liked that Livie didn't take shit from anyone. The story was good, the sex was good and the cliffhanger well the cliffhanger was a really good one I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book.
I felt like Livie and Ocean fell in love way too fast for me they first day they meet Oceans says I love you and they can't leave without each other. There's some grammar and spelling issues but over-all the book was good. I would give it 3 1/2 stars
I have just found my new book boyfriends, my new girl crush and my new author obsession! Seriously, everyone needs to get this book and be prepared for an emotional journey. Olivia is a troubled young woman trying to survive her personal demons. Her mother has done a horrifically great job at destroying her soul. Her father is trying to make amends for his ex-wife’s actions and wants to help Olivia as much as she will let him. She has enjoyed learning and practicing mixed martial arts and upon learning of a new gym coming soon she applies for a job there. Lawrence is done with his professional MMA career but is opening a gym to train new fighters. He has dealt with his fair share of demons and meeting Olivia he determines he wants to save her from her demons. She becomes his Sunshine. Ocean is Law’s cousin and was also a professional MMA fighter. His demons still haunt him and his first step forward is forgiving his cousin and helping him with Liv. This book is a reminder that you can make your own family and your own happiness. This book is about love of family and forgiveness of family. This story is full of raw emotion and the plot twists encourage the reader to push the envelope of emotion. The strength and courage of each of the characters is a testament that each of us is capable of overcoming our demons and also shows the reader what happens when those demons are overcoming us. Law and Ocean are sexy and complicated which just makes them even more lovable. Liv is a part of every girl out there. This book ends on an epic cliffhanger. I literally was holding my breath as I raced to find the next book. I loved this book and all it was giving me.
Review over at --> http://bkschocolateandlipgloss.blogsp...
I had a chance to review this one, and I'm glad that I did. This book did not disappoint when your trying to find an alpha-male. But guess what you get two alph's - two that are cousins and let me phrase that... two that are MMA fighters.. *swoon*
The story is about a girl Livie who had a hard way in life, an alcoholic mother, the one person who should be a constant in her life- who taught her nothing but pain. Yes Livie is a cutter, but the way she grew up this was her only way to cope with her anxiety and pain. Her father was a rich to do guy but loved his daughter more than life itself and she never when without- Which makes wonder why did he leave her in a situation that she had become accustom to? That part made me think.
The one thing that Livie did know how to do was physically survive- she loved the world of MMA fighting, trained with the best and fought through her pained past by enforcing the skills she could control. This is when we meet Lawrence but as we know him as Law. A ex-fighter who opened his doors to her for a job in his brand new martial arts studio. At first you wonder if its one of those love at first site type of relationships but DeOlmos keeps you wondering.
Over all without giving you the detailed review of the events that happened, this book is great. She gave you a rollercoaster of events, and having 3 POV was awesome.. you saw all aspects of the story. This book does have a cliff hanger but guess what the other two books in the series are already out.. so start digging in and get your swoon on with Ocean and Law!
When I started Oceans Collide I actually hit out in cold shivers and started shaking. I took a few deep breaths to avoid a panic attack! Having lost my own mum to suicide I identified with Livie immediately! ♥ When she found her mum I just wanted to be the safety net that catches her and tell her I've been there, I understand!
The difference with Livie and myself ..... my mum was caring, loving, kind and a gentle soul that dotted on those around her♥ whereas Livie's mum had issues with alcohol and drugs. Also Livie cuts herself to deal with her emotional issues whereas I turn OCD, it feels like there is something we can control, something we can stop .
At times it felt like I'd lost the other characters because I was so focused on Livie and I was in such a state so I put it down and was tempted to keep it down. But being who I am, that wasn't an option, I picked it up and started again.....
There are more and more debut authors coming up that leave me speechless (and with empty tear ducts) Thank you TNT and MA DeOlmos for a beautiful read.
Basically it was ugly crying from start to end, I swear I finished an entire box of Kleenex!
The best way to describe the characters is a kaleidoscope of damaged souls.
It was raw, real emotion and it dealt with many issues. It felt more like I was reading her diary than a novel ♥I don't know if this is because it was close to home, but it definitely is on my personal top 10 favorite for various reasons.
Cannot wait for Oceans Submerged and Oceans Breakthrough.
REVIEW FROM ABIBLIOPHOBIA ANONYMOUS BOOK REVIEWS BLOG
People are brought into our life for reasons we don't know of at the moment, and sometimes we will never understand why.
For Livie, Law and Ocean, they were destined to meet and enter each other's life... To save one another.
Livie aka Sunshine aka Liv, has a dark secret she's kept covered up by clothes. She's a cutter. She needs the pain, the rush of the first cut, the sight of red to cope.
Lawrence/ Law has a goal, to out his own MMA/ Fitness studio, but he can't do it alone.
Ocean's life has been spiraling out of coco toe since the night his bike crashed on a dark highway. With a stint in rehab behind him, he's ready for a do over.
Law's new business will bring them three all together and forge a true friendship.
But my friends, the first cut is always the deepest.
Ocean's Collide is a deep emotional story. We get three POVs, we see it all from their eyes. Each of these characters has a hurdle they need to overcome. With each other there to old the other up they can do just that. You will connect with each character on a totally different level then the other. You will cheer each one on, cry and get pissed for each of them. They are learning to live. Law with a new business, Ocean overcoming his past and Liv with her self harm, as well as letting them two into her life. There's a romantic connection, but I won't tell ya with who. Oceans Collide is a roller coaster of ups and downs. Liv, Law and Ocean have great chemistry. You will laugh and cry with them.
This story is about 3 lost souls finding each other....Everyone has hurt inside of them, so can deal with it others can't. Liv, has a lot of demons, but holding her mother as she died from suicide is one of the biggest. Ocean, a pro wrestler, on top of the world but couldnt handle it, so he turned to drugs, booze and women, was leaving a match when his sister asked for a ride home on the back of his bike. Again he held his sister as she died in his arms. And Law, Ocean's cousin, he isnt as broken as the other 2, but still has his own demons.
Law is opening a members only gym, when Liv shows up for a job. There is a instant kinship between them, even when Liv cleans the mats with Law. Law hires Liv immediately. There is something about the other that just calms their demons. But when Law's father starts trouble for his mother. Ocean and his dad show up. The instant bond between Law and Liv is nothing compared to Ocean and Liv's.
The two guys know there is something up with Liv. Liv has a deep dark secret..she lives for pain...she cuts. But the two guys seem to calm that demon. And she seems to calm theirs. So they all decide to move in together. But as life goes things happen, good and bad. Can the trio keep themselves safe from their demons??
Livie, Law, and Ocean are flawed, memorable, characters. From the first sentence until the shattering end, I was hooked. I love the details and depth.
Livie is at a crossroads in her life and is hiding a secret. Law is opening his martial arts business when Livie walks in wanting a job. Yes, Livie is into martial arts. :) Livie and Law become fast friends and Law is a great friend to his Sunshine. When Law has a family issue to take care of, he calls his cousin Ocean. When Ocean and Livie meet..soul deep connection. Both Law and Ocean love Livie, in different ways, and would do anything to remove the pain in her eyes. These three rock. I absolutely love their interactions. I love how Ocean and Law treat Livie.
As for how those three deal with their issues, and Livie, read this incredible story.
Bought and started book 2, Ocean Submerged immediately after finishing Oceans Collide. Also would have read Oceans Collide in one sitting if I did not have to go to work.
Highly recommended.
This book can be a tough one for some with the content in it. It was for me at first but the RAW emotions and feelings that M.A. DeOlmos puts in her writing's are real situations that happen every day. Livie her main character is a deep one and her story is truly amazing. so you will need to get this book if you want to know why I say that because it is so worth it. This book is being rated 5 stars even though there were a few editing errors but honestly I believe I may have had a review copy still needing some cleaning is all. I will worn you that you will need book two the second you finish book one I on the other had had to indure a few agonizing hours of wondering until I was able to get the second book which I am currently reading thank you. please if you have not added this book to your list to read or wish list or one clicked it go do it now it is so worth it.
I literally could not put the book down and im screaming at the end no no no fing way.A serious cliffhanger in this book and the second dont come out til April. I loved this book from the beginning to that heart stopping ugly crying cliffhanger at the end. At first I assumed this was another love triangle book but its not Livie starts out meeting Lawrence and then Ocean and and you can defitnly tell there is fireworks between Livie and Ocean but they both have had a lot of pain in their past they need to overcome. Hopefully by the second book we will get more answers as to why Livie felt she needed to do what she did at the end of the first book. Great new book by another awesome debut author.
When I first heard about this book, I was intrigued and while I had three other books to review once I started this book I kept going back to it. And I knew why, Ocean.
Livie, Lawrence and Ocean are all dealing with things in their life that cause them to hurt, from loss to pain, to mistrust and they all collide together. Lawrence meets Livie first and then immediately falls for her but in a non romantic type way(although he did picture having sex with her) and then he thrust her into his world ,along with his cousin Ocean(love the name) and they form a bound to protect and love Livie. I received this as a gift and WOW what a gift!!! It's a story of 3 people who all connect and 2 become a couple within this friendship but doesn't effect their friendships and I loved it. This story makes you feel from page 1 to the last page, it brought me to laughter and tears. For a book to do both and leave me emotionally wanting more is great The characters tell the story in their own words, each taking a turn and that lets you get to know them all. I can't wait for the next book to come out!! M.A. De Olmos has a hit!
