The idea was there, but the execution could've been a lot better.
For starters, I didn't enjoy how easily the FL (Ares) gave in, forgave the MLs (Maddock, Knox, Kato, Hendrix), and then had s3x with them.
It's not any of the guys' fault for what happened (you'll find out why if you read the book), of course. But she should still feel bitter about having to have struggled by herself as a single mom, going through pregnancy by herself, etc. There wasn't that much reluctance on her end, and she easily moved on from what happened.
For someone who went through what she went through, I feel like she should've had more conflicting emotions and reactions with what happened to her after that night with Hendrix. I think she jumped in right away too fast with the MLs when they barely got reacquainted, but maybe that's just me.
Another problem I had were the MLs and how weak they were. Hendrix gets a pass a little at the beginning because he was being manipulated by who he thought was a friend for a long time. But c'mon- Maddock, Kato, and Knox not liking Tamera and her vibes, and still not finding her suspicious? Unbelievable.
It gets worse near towards the end when Hendrix accidentally let's Tamera drive away despite knowing how terrible she truly is. All he did was have an argument with her, yell at her, and call her out on her lies. Only to have her somehow break into Ares's home later and almost kill them all except Hendrix and Ares's baby because Hendrix couldn't stop her when he had the chance.
I find it really hard to believe that 1 woman can get away with so much and 4 big ass alpha men having trouble stopping her.
Cute, quick read. Ares has always had a crush on the extremely popular brothers at her school. She’s been bullied to stay away from them, saying that she’s not good enough for them. That she’s a shiftless wolf shifter. On her 18th birthday she’s ecstatic when she feels her wolf and then finds out Hendrix is her mate. After a night together she’s rejected and she leaves. Her little girl is so cute and I love their redemption story. Too bad there’s always a delusional psycho around. But we get that HEA ❤️
This is a quick, but enjoyable read. You can tell the author spent lot of time perfecting the storyline and characters. It flows well and keeps the reader interested until the very last word. It takes the over-used woman having multiple mates trope and puts a unique twist on it. This could easily be expanded to make a great full-length novel, though this novella doesn’t feel rushed or missing anything. Based on this book, I would gladly read more by this author.
Quick read that could benefit from being better explored as a full length novel. The shifter lore and world building was definitely interesting but there really wasn't the chance to understand who exactly the MMCs are and how their different personalities work together and would now blend in this pack with Ares. I was ready for more of the Carver brothers and their mate.
I enjoyed this debut novel by this author. I liked the overall storyline & the guys are all very passionate & have a very emotional softness when they realize Ares has been their mate all this time. Though Ares is a wolf, she shows her mama bear nature to protect her daughter.
