Rejected Vampire is a Why Choose Paranormal Romance containing M/M where the FMC will not have to choose and neither do the MMCs. This book does contain adult language, all the spice, magic, and blood. And yes, this book does end on a cliffhanger.
Rejected Vampire is the 1st book in the Blood Reign series by Ariel Dawn. This book is part of the R.I.S.E. Academy shared world where so far we have met Angels, Werewolves, and now Vampires.
Rejected Vampire is the newest book to be added to the R.I.S.E. Academy world and it's written by the talented Ariel Dawn and this is the 1st book in her Blood Reign series. Ariel's series joins Embry Fox's Halo's and Havoc and Kenzie Grave's Of Shadows and Wolves Series and she is currently working on her second series for this world.
This book opens with us meeting Princess Ivy Reign and her father as she prepares to be presented to Prince Wyatt Castor as she had been prepared her entire life for. Even through her bloodheats, she had been kept pure to further entice him into accepting Ivy as his bride.
I very quickly fell in love with Ivy. She is so strong, intelligent, and confident yet she has this timid shyness about her at times, she is also courageous with this deep-seated bravery about her that she doesn't even know she has yet. She believes that she is independent and doesn't need any help in her quest to find a mate and can manage it on her own, and yet she has this empathy and compassion for the two men that she feels a pull towards, and what they are going through. She is resilient and determined in her search for her mate with a kindness and a generosity that keeps her from pushing anyone too far or from pushing the two men away from her and keeping one of them from being her mate.
Prince Wyatt Castor is less than impressed with Princess Ivy and her presentation. And from what I read, it wasn't from anything that Ivy did or didn't do. I think that Wyatt would have rejected anyone who was presented to him.
I found Prince Wyatt to be arrogant, rude, full of ambition, independent at all costs, had no sense of loyalty, he didn't have any amount of humility or compassion, and I didn't get the feeling that he had any integrity or emotional intelligence. And he definitely had no self-control whatsoever. He just said and did whatever he wanted and that included rejecting Ivy believing that he could rule his kingdom without a wife, which was something that no vampire king or queen had ever done in the past.
After Wyatt's rejection, Ivy and her father were leaving the Castor castle and they were attacked by Necromancers and Ivy watched as her father locked her in the carriage and lost his own life to the Necromancer and the carriage driver left the castle as quickly as possible.
Upon arriving back at her castle, her father's best friend, companion, and advisor, told her that she had to get back in the carriage as she now had to go to R.I.S.E. Academy, the academy for those who had been rejected by their mates, he had already enrolled her and chosen classes for her that he felt would suit her interests. He also explained to Ivy that she now had till her 21st birthday, which was just under 3 months away, to meet, claim, bite, and mate a male vampire to protect her kingdom and take her rightful throne.
Adrian, one of the vampires at R.I.S.E. Academy, is frustrated and can't sleep at night so he makes use of the gym. As the gym closes, he slowly leaves and makes his way back to his dorm. On his way, he ends up running into a very lost vampiress. He learns that her name is Ivy Reign and from the moment of their meeting he feels a pull to her and he has never felt a pull to a woman in his life.
He leads her back to the vampire dorms and leaves her at her door confused by the feelings that he's feeling towards her. I found Adrian to be a bit confused yet he is strong and he dares to try and be who he truly is, he knows that in the end he is probably going to be alone for who he is and who he loves and he's OK with that, I love the way that he tries to show respect and yet he fights with himself over that respect at times, he is loyal to his friends and who he loves and he's faithful and supportive to those same friends and loved ones. He is overly compassionate in knowing that while he doesn't want to do something he knows that he has to because it is the right thing to do for the person that he loves the most. And he has the emotional intelligence to know how to understand and try to manage his own emotions and more than that he can respond to the emotions he feels from others.
The next day we get to meet Wesley. Just like with Adrian, the moment that Wesley and Ivy meet they both feel this intense pull to each other. The only difference is that Wesley has felt an attraction to women in the past, unlike poor Adrian. And it seems like the attraction between Ivy and Wesley is a bit stronger as both Wesley and Ivy suffer from bloodheats.
I was rather surprised by Wesley's character. Wesley is Wyatt's twin brother and he is a few minutes older than Wyatt. In fact, he was originally the one that Ivy was promised to and she was supposed to be presented to him originally. But, then his bloodheats presented and other events happened and his family rejected him and now he has one last semester at R.I.S.E. Academy to find a mate or he's going to be expelled and he will have to return to his family.
I don't want to reveal anything else as this book is a bit shorter than the other three books that are currently available in the series. I want you to read this book and enjoy it just as much as I did. Ariel Dawn did a great job in writing this book and I can't wait to read the next book of this series and I can't wait to add this series to my trophy shelf along with the rest of the R.I.S.E Academy world that I already own.
I have to recommend this book as it was an enjoyable read. I also have to recommend Rejected Angel by Embry Fox, Rejected Luna, and Rising Luna by Kenzie Graves from this same universe. And I can't wait to read more of Ariel Dawn's books. This is the first one of her books that I have ever read and I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to read some of her other books.
Rejected Vampire is the first in the Blood Reign series and Ariel Dawn's story in the R.I.S.E. Academy multi-author universe. This was my first Ariel Dawn book. I thought I had to adjust to the writing; it was a little weird in the beginning, but things worked out.
The story is told from three perspectives. Ivy just lost everything and was rejected by the guy her father had planned for an arranged marriage. I think she dodged a bullet with that one. Wyatt was an ass. She ends up at R.I.S.E., where she promptly gets mixed up with two guys already in a preexisting situationship with each other. Adrian and Westly feel deeply for each other, but same-sex relationships are illegal in their culture. Add that to all the other baggage that they both carry, and it spells trouble. My heart especially went out to West. He has a unique condition that no other male vampire has; because of this, he's somewhat ostracized. West has low self-esteem. He's really down on himself, which is a shame because he seems really sweet. Even Adrian can't get away from the thoughts in his head. They don't fit the mold society has cast for them. Ivy coming in and mixing things up is something none of them expected. It's really frustrating when characters refuse to acknowledge their own feelings, let alone communicate them to others involved. This story was like one fresh brush. Feelings were getting hurt left and right, but there was also a pull that was undeniable between all of them.
This was a quick read. The world and characters were just getting set up. I'm so interested in how things will work out between them, especially with that little plot twist at the end. This might be something to check out if you like steamy vampire ménage with maybe a slight hint of omegaverse romance.
Welcome to the darkly addictive halls of R.I.S.E. Academy, where being dumped by your fated mate is just one of many reasons to land yourself in supernatural boarding school.
Ariel Dawn, ever the queen of steamy tension and tangled hearts, kicks off her Blood Reign series with Rejected Vampire, and boy, does she come in fangs-first. Ivy, our vampire princess heroine, is tossed aside by her arranged fiancé (Wyatt, a certified tool), and now has a ticking clock—three months to find a new mate or lose her kingdom. No pressure, right?
And then.... Adrien and Wesley: two hot messes in love with each other but shackled by societal shame and personal demons. Adrien’s brooding. Wesley’s self-loathing (and the twin brother of the abovementioned certified tool Wyatt). Ivy walks in like a chaos grenade, and suddenly it’s an emotional tug-of-war with fangs, feelings, and forbidden yearning.
This book is short, spicy, and clearly setting the stage. It’s less “plot-heavy” and more “soap-opera-at-midnight”—you’re here for the angst, the vibes, and the ridiculous sexual tension. Think vampire ménage with a whisper of omegaverse, and enough yearning to power a small town.
Was it perfect? No. But was I entertained? Absolutely. And yes, Ariel… we need to talk about that cliffhanger. Again?
Verdict: A sultry, setup-heavy prequel that bites just enough to leave you thirsty for more.
Ivy grew up knowing she was promised to the Castor family so when it came time to make good on the promise she was surprised to be rejected. On top of the rejection her father was lost and she now has to find a mater before her birthday or risk losing everything.
Entering R.I.S.E academy she has no clue how she is going to find a mate. She meets two men who shake up her world but she has no idea why - Wesley and Adrian.
This was a short book that definitely felt like a prequel since not a lot happened. I can't wait to see what happens between her and these boys.
This book set up a lot of things to happen but none of them actually happened yet. I hope to get so much more from book 2.
This is the first book of the third installment of R.I.S.E. Academy and this time we learn about the vampires of the academy. I was hooked start to finish. I liked Ariel Dawns take on the academy in that you could be sent for many other reasons not just being rejected by a mate and that the goal is to find a mate. Ivy is a vampire princess rejected by the man she was supposed to marry by arrangement. Now she needs to find a mate in three months to save her kingdom. She meets two mysterious vampires and things get very complicated. I can't wait to see what happens in book two.
This was an interesting take on vampires that I greatly enjoyed. The author wrote of a way that a vampire could have a second chance of finding a mate after being rejected, but it's not just rejection by a mate it's also rejection by a parent. That after there is a rejection they are sent to a school for either rejected mates or family members that have been rejected by other members of said family. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. I want to know what happens, and why does there always have to be cliffhangers? I received a complimentary ARC from the author for a fair and honest review
I fell in love with the characters almost immediately. Especially Aiden, I dunno why but he’s my favorite so far. The story is great, keeps me wanting more (I need book two like right now) and wanting to know how they are going to fix things. Starts like a Disney movie (if you know you know) and tosses you right into the action and drama. So much love and I can’t wait to see more.
Ivy is a Vampiress that was rejected by the man her father picked for her. Sent to R.I.S.E academy hse meets Adrian and Wesley two vamps that she is attracted to. This book sets you up with a couple side mysteries that I am very curious to see what the results are. I have some theories and can't wait to see if I am right on any.
Icky cheating trope. Could have been written a different way where he didnt cheat because both guys are attracted to her. Its also set up for a fully gay man to fall for her next when hes never been attracted to a woman before? Odd. Also this book was really short and all the characters are gooners. Feels like the writer has a lgbtq man kink the way it was written
This was a really good book even though it was on the shorter side and it didn't really feel like that much happened. It felt rushed but not at the same time. I can't wait to eventually read the second book because I need to know what happens.
