Ziselær chose which rider would live … And which would die. Now he has to live with it, if he can.
Vulryn’s drake is gone, she fears forever.
Heartbroken over Ziselær’s impossible choice, Dani and Vulryn return to Lumaria determined to let the traumatized dragon grieve alone. But when the fates intervene, they take his stubborn rider with them to search for the elusive beast.
Ziselær’s rider’s alive but missing part of his soul.
The fates aren’t done with the rejected dragon rider yet, sending him on a desperate mission to save the blue beast craving death. If the group can’t convince Ziselær to return, they’ll forgo their destined place in the coming battle, dooming the rebellion.
Ignoring her need for the male clinging to her, Dani struggles to focus on finding Ziselær to bring him home. And while the dragon’s rider fights his craving for the female in his arms, his greatest fear is rejection by the beast he doesn’t want to live without.
Can the group convince Ziselær to take his place in the rebellion, or will he choose loyalty to the queen over his draikana and rider?
Mythical Menace is the epic conclusion to the fantasy romance series, Tales of the Vanir. Brimming with steaming sexual tension and stunning twists, the stakes are higher than ever in this heart-wrenching battle between the fates that draw dragons, riders and mates together, and the gods who would rip them apart.
Mythical Menace has a HEA ending and will appeal to readers of Fourth Wing (Rebecca Yarros), Crescent City (Sarah J. Maas) and When the Moon Hatched (Sarah A. Parker).
Author's Note: Mythical Menace includes open-door spice and explicit language, with torture and killing of people and dragons, as well as sexual assault and depravity (but not between the main characters) and genocide (of elves).
Rochelle Wilcox was born and raised in Las Vegas, where she learned at an early age the value of fantasy and escape. Raised by a single mom — one of the first women trained to deal poker in the early 70's — Rochelle spent more time in casinos than most adults. She and her husband decided to leave the desert behind and raise their sons in Northern California, where they spent as much time on the water with their boys as they could.
Despite her lifelong passion for story-telling, Rochelle's path took her to law school and then to a practice focused on media law and appeals. But her love of writing wasn't sated with briefs bound by legal principles and a fealty to facts. And so she set to paper the story that had been playing in her mind for years, based on the Norse mythology she loved as a child. Rochelle retired from her legal practice in 2022 to travel and write.
She released her first book, Lost Long, Book I of The Road to Ragnarök, in 2012, and the rest of that four-book series in 2022. Book IV, Heavy Heart, was named N. N. Light's Book Heaven's Best Romantic Fantasy of 2022, and it was one of three finalists for Best Indie Book of 2022.
Her current series, Tales of the Vanir, is fully drafted and is being rapid released this summer: Sacred Struggle on May 22; Frenzied Fate on June 26; Divine Dilemma on July 31; and Mythical Menace on September 5.
Mythical Menace by Rochelle L. Wilcox closes out the Tales of the Vanir with teeth, heart, and a whole lot of dragon fire. As a series ender, it does what I want most. It raises the stakes, cashes in on long running threads, and lets the characters shine in ways that feel earned. I went in hyped and walked out thrilled.
Sifa and Fhord remain the anchor. Their bond has heat and grit, but what really lands is how they keep choosing each other in the mess. Sifa’s stubborn courage and Fhord’s steel backed loyalty make every reunion and every split second decision hit harder. Dani steps even further into the spotlight and I loved it. She is fierce, complicated, and absolutely pivotal. The tension around Mikkael keeps the emotional screws tight, and Vulryn still has a talent for making me whisper what are you doing under my breath. Plus everyone's reaction to Thor is gold!
Pacing is locked in. The book moves with purpose from the opening scene to the final clash. Big confrontations, quieter character beats, and a steady drip of reveals all keep the momentum rolling. I never felt stranded between set pieces, and I never wanted to put it down.
World building continues to be a strength. We get deeper looks at courts, rebels, and riders, along with the politics that bind them. The magic keeps its rules and its consequences, and the dragon lore feels ancient in the best way. You can tell the groundwork from books one through three was laid for this pay off, and it clicks.
Bottom line. Mythical Menace sticks the landing. It is bold, fast, and satisfying, with romance that sizzles and battles that deliver. If you have been in since Sacred Struggle, you are getting the finale you hoped for. If you are new, start at the beginning so the emotional punches land the way they should. I am going to miss these characters, but this was a send off worthy of the ride.
Ziselaer has chosen which rider would live.... And more than that, which rider would die? Now he has to live with the choices he has made, if he can.
Vulryn's drake is gone, and she fears that it's forever and she'll never see her drake again.
Dani and Vulryn have now returned to Lumaria, they're determined to allow the traumatized dragon to grieve alone, they are heartbroken over the choice that Ziselaer has made, even if it was an impossible one. But, the fates have chosen to intervene and they take this stubborn rider with them, all to search for the elusive beast they want to bring back.
Ziselaer's rider is still alive, but he's missing some part of his soul.
The fates have decided that they aren't done with this rejected dragon rider yet, they have decided that they are going to send him on a desperate mission to save a blue beast that's craving nothing but death. And if the group can't convince Ziselaer to return, they're going to forgo their destined place in the battle that is looming on the horizon and this is going to doom the entire rebellion.
Dani ignores her dire need for the male that clings to her and struggles to focus on finding Ziselaer, all in order to bring him home. And the dragon's rider continues to fight his craving for the female who he holds in his arms, he fears not that she's going to reject him, but that the beast is going to reject him and he doesn't want to live without the beast.
Can the entire group convince Ziselaer to step up and take his rightful place in the rebellion?
Or is Ziselaer going to choose his loyalty to the queen over his draikana and its rider?

YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read the author's note before you read this book. Please be aware that this book contains scenes and some subject matter that may not be suitable for all readers and could be triggering for others. Please remember at all times that your mental health always comes first and should never be put at risk.
Mythical Menace is the 4th book in the Tales of the Vanier series by Rochelle L. Wilcox. I have been in love with this series since reading the first book and this book is bittersweet as it is the conclusion to this series. But, in typical Rochelle fashion, she has sent this book like the last 3 books skyrocketing out of the stratosphere and it has left me speechless.
This isn't the kind of book that you can pick up and say that you're going to say you are going to read just one chapter and that's it. One chapter is going to turn into five and then into ten and then into fifteen and finally into twenty. And you're not even going to notice the time that you have spent reading. I never wanted this book to end as I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Sifa, Fhord, Dani, and everyone else and I wasn't ready to leave this amazing world that Rochelle has created.
Rochelle has crafted this stunning world that you just want to keep exploring. It's full of intrigue, fierce battles, diverse, well-rounded interesting characters, and the memories you're going to take away from this series will be everlasting and unforgettable. Rochelle doesn't hold back; she never uses any words just to fill the pages and get a certain word count or page count. Each word, each sentence she crafts, it has a meaning and a purpose behind it and she never tries to push the story along. She always crafts the story to move along naturally.
I have to say having read the entire series now that my entire character will forever be Dani! I felt such a deep connection with her and the way that she grew and the way that she connected with Vulryn. Vulryn is the one who would not take any crap from anyone and we need more girl bosses like her, Dani, and Sifa. And the way that Rochelle made them so powerful without even trying to hide each of their vulnerabilities, allowing them to show us that even the strongest person deserves to have the grace to be weak at times, and when the time is right.
I loved the bath scene, you have to read it, and I am sure you'll re-read it over again. I love the way that it's not overly detailed but the way that Rochelle has written it, the way that it is mainly focused on Dani and her mate it doesn't need to be overly detailed. The chemistry alone is mind-blowing. Add on to that the angst, the slow burn, the pining, OMG, it's just stunning. You are going to spend so many pages being thrown left and right into all this drama and it's honestly going to be what you can think about – will they or won't they get together? This series is honestly a slow burn done right.
I found the pacing to be spot on and done really well. Just because of my reading style I had to slow myself down and re-read things so I could really figure out what was happening and really process all the information. And then I had to stop and process what I had read. The only thing that I wish we had gotten was that we had gotten more spicy scenes between Danie and her mate. God, the chemistry between these two. It just makes you long for more of the spice.
Here's what I have to tell you, just run and go buy this series, you will never regret it. I can't wait to get this series on my trophy shelf. I love the dragons, enemies-to-lovers, all the off-the-charts chemistry, and so many secrets for you to learn and this isn't a series you want to miss.
Thank you Rochelle L. Wilcox for sharing this amazing world and stunning characters with the world. I wish I could give you a standing ovation for this standout series.
This isn't following my usual review format, because I just have so much to say! When I got this book, I told myself "Okay, just one chapter." One chapter became five, then ten, then fifteen, and finally, I caved and spent two of the best hours of my life binging Rochelle Wilcox's Mythical Menace, the final installment in this series following Sifa, Fhord, Dani, and so much more!
I have to applaud Wilcox for the world she's created. There's so much intrigue, such a diverse cast of characters, and the battles are fierce, brisk, but leave an everlasting impression! Wilcox doesn't spare words; she doesn't write fillers just for the sake of fillers. Everything that is written is written with a meaning behind it.
As I've said several times, my favorite will forever be Dani! I connected so deeply with her and I loved how she grew, as well as her connection with Vulryn! Vulryn takes crap from absolutely no one and we need more girlbosses like her, Dani, and Sifa! What I loved was that Wilcox made them powerful without trying to hide their vulnerabilities, showing that even the strongest deserve the grace to be weak at times.
By far, you HAVE to read the bath scene so many times! It's not described in detail but it doesn't have to be, because Wilcox exclusively focuses on Dani and her mate (no spoilers peeps 👀) and phew if the chemistry isn't MIND BLOWING!!! 🥵🥵The angst in this book?? The slow burn?? The pining??? I can't recommend this enough. You're gonna spend pages upon pages thrown left and right into drama and all you can think about is - will they get together? This is the best slow-burn I've ever seen done.
There were times when I felt like the pacing was going too quickly. I had to slow down and re-read several scenes to understand what was going on, because so much information was being thrown at me and I had to take some time to process it. I also, so very BADLY wish that we'd seen more spicy scenes with Dani and her mate 😭😭God, their chemistry?? You tease us, Ms. Wilcox! 🤧
I'll also admit I wish we didn't have so many Fhord/Sifa chapters. I enjoyed them, don't get me wrong, but I felt like this book and Divine Dilemma should have focused more on Dani, her mate, Vulryn and Zieslar. I think they had so much more to explore that was condensed into their chapters because we shifted to Fhord and Sifa. Then, with the addition of so many new faces that gave more information, at times it was kind-of info dumping. I think more chapters would have been better because then the extent of their information would have been easier to digest for the reader, and have also given us more scenes to further cement the foundation of Dani and her mate's spicyyyy enemies-to-lovers relationship.
Don't walk, RUN to buy this series because you're not gonna regret it. Dragons, enemies-to-lovers, hot chemistry and so many secrets wait for you, and it's not something you're going to want to miss!
My heart was pounding, I was tense, and I kept having those “How the F are they getting out of this one?!” moments. What an epic finale!
Ziselaer is gone. He left us and returned to the Queen’s Nest. I knew he would never take me as his rider. I should give up on him, on us. Dani and Vulryn want us to ride in and bring him back, convinced he will choose us. But he made his decision.
And yet here I am, following Ziselaer straight into the hands of the enemy, sitting behind Dani on her badass beast, breathing her in, feeling her under my fingertips, lost in the peace her nearness brings. My mate. My fate. I cannot let it happen. I will not let it happen. Pushing away our mating bond is becoming unbearable, gnawing at me in ways I cannot ignore, and I find myself wondering if it is truly the bond or if my heart is turning against me.
With the conflict mounting, time slipping through our fingers, and nothing as it seems, the stakes have never been higher. Whose side is Ziselaer truly on? This is do or die. Who will they choose? Can we leave every hard truth and every messed-up mistake behind us, or will I lose everything I have never allowed myself to have?
This book brought together everyone we know and love while mainly focusing on Dani and Mikkael’s journey. And let me tell you, they needed this. You have not seen a slow burn like Dani and Mik, three books of tension, hate, and longing. The way they hate each other, the way they pine for each other… ughhhh! It is hard, violent, magnetic, and sexy AF. Mik fought it with everything he had, but when he finally realized he had been standing in his own way, his surrender was explosive.
Mik’s pining was not limited to Dani. His journey with Ziselaer was raw and heartbreaking. It was so beautifully woven into this story and gave me exactly what I needed.
This was a stunning completion to an unforgettable ride, and yet I am still grieving its close. I slowed my reading just to savor every word, every last moment with these characters. The only comfort I had was that small sliver of space left for a future series to slip in. The finale had my adrenaline pumping, left me completely breathless, and utterly mind-blown. What a way to go!
Thank you so much to the amazing, sensational Rochelle Wilcox for this gifted copy.
I have really loved this whole series and this final book has really finished it off in such a satisfactory way. I’ve been left wanting more from this world and these characters but in a good way. I can see the potential for spin-offs or more stories for different characters, but at the same time feel that all the main story arcs were finished off well.
This book focused on the battle against the Dróttning as well as the relationship, or lack of, between Mikkael and Dani after the ending from the last book. The usual cast of fantastic characters/ found family are ever present with a few new additions. There is fantastic world building and this is developed further in this book.
This is a bit of an epic ride with lots of plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. It was well paced with lots of information to take in. But it never felt like we were given random information drops, it was all woven into the narrative really well. The multiple POVs helped with following the different elements of the main story arc and gave deeper insight into how Dani and Mikkael were feeling which I really enjoyed.
There is so much chemistry between Dani and Mik but with that comes the pain, angst and slow burn pining. The story builds the tension with a great ‘will they, won’t they’ story arc that is perfectly slow burn. My heart ached for Mik in so many ways! You also have their dragons in the mix with Vulryn her usual sassy, snarky independent self and then the dilemma of what Ziselær was going to do. I loved this story arc. I actually loved the development of all four of these characters throughout the book, and how they were the main focus. The battle with the Dróttning was suitably epic and involved a number of surprise elements (no spoilers)!
Overall a fantastic end to this series but hopefully more to come from this world. There is something for everyone - dragons, dragon riders, elves, magic, gods, fated mates, found family. A must read!
Thank you to Rochelle Wilcox and LiteraryInspired for the fantastic opportunity to read an advanced reader copy. It was a privilege to be part of the team for the whole series. All thoughts and opinions are my own and honestly/voluntarily given.
Wilcox saved the best for last in the Tales of the Vanir series, ending it with an impressive ROAR! The heart of this book revolved around Dani, Mikkael, Vulryn (what a dragon!), and Ziselaer and their fractured relationships. Their story contained perhaps the most truly shattering exchange I’ve ever read in a romance. I read the line, read it again. Read a little more for the receiving character’s reaction and then had to put the book down. I even picked it back up, tried reading more, and had to put it down again!! I’m normally a girl who can read through my tears, but not this time: I FELT it.
This series has a hearty list of trigger warnings. While this one certainly has its violent moments, it was actually tamer than earlier books. Mythical Menace was slightly less spicy – it is quite a slow burn for the above leads – and wrought with tension. That was good for me (I’m not wanting a ton of spice in my reading these days) and hopefully the yearning, and the ever-ready-to-go Sifa & Fhord, will be enough to satisfy most appetites! It was thankfully lighter in tone as well – the t0rture scenes in previous books were dark, dark passages.
There were a couple items that I struggled with. The extent of my Norse lore is what I learned in the Marvel movies, so the increasing mythical elements left me rather confused at times. Any reader can get the gist of it, but I suspect I missed some nuances. The ending also felt a little rushed, but perhaps that was due to me tearing through it so quickly. I correctly guessed some parts of the ending, but several were wildly different, so that makes it a pretty satisfying conclusion.
So what did I love? The layered plot, some great twists, and very strong character development. The characters all have flaws, sometimes massive ones, but they also find ways to redeem themselves in powerful ways in this very broken world. Vulryn remains the star of the whole series for me, such a confident badarse with intense focus and determination!!
Congrats to the author for creating such a well-thought-out story, pulling together so many intertwined relationships, and for having the kindness to prepare it in a rapid release format so we readers didn’t have too suffer too long between books! As I truly despise cliffhangers, thank you. Now that the whole series is out and available, anyone who enjoys dark, spicy fated dragonrider stories should really love this tale of redemption and freedom, fought by some rather morally grey and truly stubborn warriors.
Ratings: This book: 4.75 stars Other books in the series: 4 - 4.5 stars
I received this book as an advanced reviewer copy for free and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I did not want this book or this series to end. The characters are so deep and really it’s all about the dragons. The first book focuses more on the romance between Fhord and Sifa but the other books really are about the dragons. Vulryn is magnificent. She is fierce and she protects what is hers. Vulryn and Dani are the embodiment of what I want all FMCs to be like. They are a force to be reckoned with!! This final installment focuses mainly on Mik and Dani with a little bit of Fhord and Sifa but honestly I was less interested in them compared to Dani and Mik. Fhord and Sifa have this tragic beginning with a happy romance/being mated that even with the obstacles they’ve faced and what they continue to fight for, their overall character development starts to fade to the background while I crave the changes and struggles and emotions from Dani and Mik and their dragons. This story has so much sorrow and hope and twists that bring you back to the main plot of the series. Learning about Fhord’s background was just as jaw dropping for me as it was for him. It’s so well written that dragons, that for the most part besides Vulryn, communicate with a single word and yet we know them and understand the gaps and can really see who they are and why this war is important to them. I love that this series was a dragon series truly about dragons and the main characters being dragons.
I literally could not put this book down. My gosh. I don't even know where to begin with. I finished it in just a few hours and was completely speechless. Dani, Vulryn, Sifa, Fhord, and all the other characters felt so alive and vivid that I didn’t want to leave their world for a second. Dani became my absolute favorite, I connected so deeply with her growth, her strength, and her vulnerabilities, and the way she navigated her relationships and challenges was just stunning. Vulryn was fierce, strong, and unyielding, yet so genuine, and the chemistry between her and Dani was absolutely electric, it had me feeling everything. The worldbuilding was phenomenal, filled with dragons, magic, epic battles, twists, and secrets that kept me on the edge of my seat. Once again, this author confirmed for me that she is my favorite, every book she writes is exceptional, and this series is nothing short of incredible. Each installment grows in depth, and emotional impact, making me fall in love with the story all over again every single time. I am utterly obsessed and already cannot wait to reread the entire series. Thank you Rochelle Wilcox for writing this absolute masterpiece, I feel so lucky to have read this and in advance too. Thank you so much to the author and Megan from Literary Inspired for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.
Sometimes fate takes the upper hand, and you have no choice but to accept it. This is what Ziselaer must come to grips with. But he’s grieving and doesn’t want to face the truth. The same holds true for Dani and Mik. As the final battle makes its entrance, lives will be lost, love will bind souls, and the conclusion will leave readers stunned.
Mythical Menace is the final book in this spellbinding romantasy series. I know it sounds cliché, but this is, by far, the best book in the series. Rochelle L. Wilcox has outdone herself with her world-building, immersive writing, and character building. The stakes couldn’t be higher for our group leading the rebellion against a formidable foe. Each scene is meticulously detailed, so the reader becomes a part of the story. The action is intense, the romance between a few characters is steamy, the dialogue is fast-moving, and the ending blew the doors off my expectations. If you’re a fan of romantasy with heat, emotion, and conflict, you need to read Mythical Menace.
Rochelle L. Wilcox has penned an outstanding book and series. Her writing style rivals anyone in the romantasy genre. Trust me, once you start reading, you won’t be able to stop. Move over, Rebecca Yarros, you have fresh competition.
I am so sad to see this series come to an end! I have absolutely loved all these phenomenal characters.
There is just so much I want to say about the final book. I want to say it’s my favorite because it is, but it also ended way too fast. I wanted more. 😔 So much is happening in this one, I felt like I was yelling at my kindle (okay so I might have been) because I felt like each chapter was a mini cliffhanger of hang me slowly. So I couldn’t put the book down! The whole one more chapter thing is real with this one!
Dani and Mik had me spitting nails. Seriously those two. Good grief I just wanted to knock their heads together. I felt so bad for Mik though I wanted someone to just pick him. Ugh!
I don’t know which dragon is my favorite. Each one is unique and loved them all!
This one adds some new characters and major twists that will blow your mind!
If you’re looking for an amazing world building book, that has dragon riders, dragons, fated mates, magic, gods, elves, and so much more. This series is for you! Grab book one now. Bc you do have to start with book 1 but you will definitely love this ride!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
ahhh once again the last book in the tales of vanir series was down right amazing as I expected it would be and it did not disappoint one bit! Ahh the final battle against the drotting came to a head in this book and let me just say it was so satisfying and I couldn’t have pictured a better end for her. Chefs kiss. The battle was truly amazing and all the events that led up to that moment. Ahh there were so many twists and turns in this book and information that was revealed that I did not see coming and man did it have me screaming! Especially that little bombshell that involves Harold my brain is still in a chokehold about that but I’m excited to see where that story will eventually go. All no worries there were indeed happy endings all around and I loved the small little epilogue that we got to show what had happened since but doesn’t mean the realm is still safe I see more battles that may end up unfolding in this world and I am excited to see where it goes with new characters along the way! If you didn’t take a chance on this series yet I strongly urge you to go check out the tales of vanir because you will not be disappointed it was all perfection.
Huge huge thank you to Rochelle Wilcox for the gifted review copy and the opportunity to be part of your team. I’m so grateful I get to share this series with people!!
With Mythical Menace, book 4 in Tales of the Vanir, we wrap up a TON of drama unfolding amongst the cast of characters we’ve come to know and love (or loathe). There’s insane amounts of action, adventure, romance, banter, and emotion because DUH.
If you love the below tropes this might be for you!
Quirky sidekicks (yes more than one) Dragon Riders Forbidden Love but Fated Mates Super protective instincts Found family
Dani and Vulryn are my favorites, so I really enjoyed getting to spend more time learning about their quirks and such. How their minds work, how their emotions play into their decisions, Vulryn’s general awesomeness…they’re all front and center. Cool as a cucumber, that one. She has all the chill! lol
Watching Mikkael struggle with his worth as a rider and as a mate made me tear up twice. Okay three times. But truthfully he’s a really cool male and I’m so glad we got to spend more time with him and Z too. They’re just all so awesome, I’m sad to leave this world.
That said, I’m super stoked to see what comes next from this author!
Mythical Menace - Tales of Vanir FINAL BOOK 😱 ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️
Normally my reviews are full of spoilers but I don’t want to tempt anyone with them! Whatever you do, you have to read the series so you can end it with this book!
Rochelle Wilcox has definitely made the list of authors I will stalk all future works of! She unleashed an irresistible storm of emotion, danger, and mythical wonder. The fourth and final book in the Tales of the Vanir series didn't just meet my expectations, it blew them completely out of the water!
The bonds between lovers and between friends matured beautifully through quirky rebels, fiercely loyal dragons, and even secret allies. I didn’t just watch the building of a world, I lived it with the characters! The descriptive details of Vanatia, its dragons, and the political workings built an amazing world that felt so real!
I can’t believe it’s over, but this book and series was the highlight of my summer! I’m gonna cry that they’re over, and then go reread them. ❤️
Mythical Menace is another fantastic addition to the Tales of the Vanir series. Rochelle Wilcox has a real gift for weaving Norse mythology into a story that feels both magical and deeply emotional. The mix of dragon-fueled action, romantic tension, and high-stakes intrigue kept me hooked from beginning to end.
The characters’ chemistry is a standout—authentic and heartfelt—while the world-building is immersive and rich with mythological detail. I especially loved how the story balanced fast-paced adventure with tender, emotional moments.
My only small critique is that, as the fourth book, it relies heavily on earlier installments, so new readers may want to start from the beginning to get the full experience. Also, the ending leaves some threads open, which builds anticipation but might frustrate anyone looking for full closure.
Overall, though, this is a thrilling, beautifully written continuation of the series. Fans of fantasy romance with a mythological twist won’t be disappointed!
First of all the books in this series have the most beautiful covers ever. I have enjoyed this entire series and this book was no exception. As the fourth and final book in this series, this book gave me everything I wanted and more.
We continue with Sifa and Fhords story. I just have to say these two characters have been such a breath of fresh air to read about. The drama and the intrigue, the tension in the twists and turns throughout these four books just captivated me. The pacing of this book was fantastic and it literally pulls you in from the very beginning. If you love battles, this book will deliver it.
The diverse group of characters in this story are just as dynamic as the main characters. Wilcox is an exceptional writer. I had never read anything by her until this series. However since reading this series, I am a true fan now and look forward to reading so much more by her.
The way this book closed out the series won it a five star read from me. Spectacular!
😱 What would you do if saving the rebellion meant convincing a broken dragon to fight again?
In Mythical Menace, Dani, Vulryn, and their allies are racing against fate to bring Ziselær home before the queen claims victory. The danger is higher, the love is fiercer, and the battles wrecked me in the best way.
💔 Slow burn tension 🗡 Found family 🐉 Quirky but deadly sidekicks ⚡ Morally grey characters

This is a solid 4⭐ series with the 🌶️ and 🐉 and 🤺 and ⛓️💥 and💀 and 🥹 that you love.
This is book IV and the final installment of Tales of the Vanir series. THIS IS MY FIRST 6 STAR READ OF THE YEAR! So freaking amazing! Beyond words. I didn’t even want to read at my normal pace because I did not want it to end!
Be ready for the author’s writing to take a hold of you and place you in a chokehold. Writing has exquisite detail that gives you an immersive experience. I was easily connecting to the characters.
With the unforeseen twists, losses and grief, thigh clenching sexual tension and higher stakes then ever before, I was glued! At the edge of my seat! Almost holding my breath until the end. And what an EPIC end that was. I was blown away by the whole series! Just prodigiously exceptional! Standing ovation!👏🏼
We are back with Sifa and Fhord, picking up exactly where we left off in Frenzied Fate, leaving the training centre with everyone mostly intact.
Sifa FMC mated to Fhord, Asterots rider Dani: FSC mated to Mikkael, Vulryns rider Fhord: Tinder’s rider, fated mate to Sifa Michael: Mated to Dani, no dragon, Ziselaer’s fated rider
Ok way to throw a little plot twist right in the second chapter. I did not see that coming. And the plot twits don’t stop the entire time. My goodness. And the build up to the end is so tantalizing.
Oh that epilogue gave me all the closure I’ve ever needed. So wonderful. Thank you
Key points in no particular order: - dragons with feathers - Elves - Norse mythology - betrayal and deceit - fated mates - Dragon shifters - D3@th & g0r3
The final book in the series and I think delivered it all! This book, to me, was probably the best in the series. We got everyone we know and love. A lot of Dani and Mikkael and their dragons. There was much more depth and emotion in this book.
Dealing with the aftermath of Z's decision to kill matthias everyone is suffering. Dani, Vulryn and Mik. As they try and figure out how to defeat the Drottening. So many more secrets are uncovered and answers we have been asking since book 1. It ends with the epic battle we all expect but there are quite a few surprises.
I teared up a few times, I laughed, I really went along on this final adventure. I will miss these characters and their dragons a lot.
I really enjoy all of the characters in this story a lot. They really pulled me in when the plot was not holding my attention as much. I was happy to see Mikkael and Z's growth over the course of events. I will say that it felt like Sifa and Fhord were not nearly as important as the first books made them seem and the final battle was more of a side note. Although I'm happy with the ending, it wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped. I'm still glad I read the series and will be looking out for Rochelle Wilcox's future books!
The story explores Ziselær’s impossible choice, with Dani, Vulryn, and Mikkael navigating heartbreak, loyalty, and the frantic effort to save both dragon and rider. I loved how the romance developed slowly but intensely. Dani’s growth and her bond with Mikkael kept me rooting for them even through all the angst. The battles were epic, the twists surprising, and the emotional stakes higher than ever. I laughed, cried, and gasped all the way to the finish. This finale offered everything I hoped for: dragons, rebellion, passion, and a truly satisfying HEA.
This book is part of a epic series that I fell in love with in the first page and had a chokehold on hold on my soul all the way to the last page of the last book in the quartet. This book soared to the highest highs and some deep dark lows I cried ugly tears, laughed till my sides hurt, gasped in shock and joy and rode the skies with these amazing characters. If you like dragons magic elves high fantasy romance dark twisted tales with hea then this is better than ACOTR
As the end draws near will the bonds needed to save Vanatia be forged or will they break?
Mythical Menace is the thrilling conclusion to the Tales of the Vanir series and brings an ending to a journey to save Vanatia, the elves, and everyone Fhord and Sifa have come to love.
The mythical world created by Wilcox continues as love and bonds are tested and loss and betrayal bring heartache. Dani and Mikkael struggle to accept their bond while their dragons’ bond is threatened. Fhord and Sifa continue their journey to eliminate the Drottning and protect everyone they love. Toffer, Thor, and the Aett are ready to stand with the others in the battle that is to come.
Mythical Menace is an epic tale that will keep you engrossed in the story and leave you sad to leave the world that Wilcox has created.
This was an amazing end to an epic adventure! I really like how this story was centered around Dani and Mikkael. They kept fighting against their bond and it was hurting their dragons bonding. Dani easily turned into one of my characters, she grew into a very strong woman. I felt bad for Mikkael because he honestly thinks he is Dani's second choice and that's why he didn't want to give into the bond. The battle with the Drottning was epic and I felt like I was right there. The character developments, world building, and just the whole story was beyond fantastic. This is one of my favorite dragon fantasy book series now!

This entire series was a 5 star series for me from the very first book all the way to the last . I'm so sad this series has come to an end but honestly what better way to end it than with this book. So many twist and turns the pace just never slowed down and I loved every second of it .
This series was an absolute pleasure to read and im going to remember it for a very long time.
This is a great end to the series. It will keep you turning the page and wondering what will happen next. The only letdown is the way it has lost focus on the main characters, but that doesn’t stop it being a great read. I have mixed feelings about finishing this book. I’m glad to know the conclusion, but it means there will be no more books in the series. Hopefully the author will start a new series soon.
This series is absolutely phenomenal! Everyone who loves fantasy romance and dragons MUST read this series! If you liked Fourth Wing and SJM, you are going to fall in love with this. It is so much better.
Edge of your seat, nail biting, twists that astound, unputdownable, page turning, non stop, laugh, cry, jaw dropping.... sooooo good
This series just got better and better and this last book was by far the best. It was much more action packed and unpredictable.
I felt a little confused at times with new characters coming in and talks of the other worlds, especially around a big (well led up to) battle, but it didn't really take away from the story.
I could have used more Dani/Mik time together (and spice), but at the same time, the first 2 books had a little too much spice. I just loved all the action in this one and the way the story was wrapped up!
This is the finale to the four book series of the Tales of the Vanir. What started out with one strong, bad ass FMC, and a great MMC, soon became a large family of main players, each with their own character development and attachments. Love all the dragons, and their varying personalities. And so many twists and turns in this book. This was an amazing series, start to finish.
