She swore she’d never forgive him. Now, he’s the only one who can save her.
Brooklyn Alexander thought she was done with Ethan Foster. Six months ago, they shared one unforgettable night—then he disappeared without a word. Now, she’s too busy with her nephew Liam to worry about old wounds. But when a chilling kidnapping attempt puts Liam in danger, Brooklyn has no choice but to turn to the one man she swore she’d never trust again.
Ethan never meant to ghost Brooklyn. A concussion stole twenty-four hours of his life, and with it, any memory of the night they spent together. But when Brooklyn comes to him for help, the past no longer matters—only keeping her and Liam safe. As they uncover a terrifying link to the Yakuza, the stakes skyrocket, and Ethan will stop at nothing to protect them. When Liam is taken, the race to find him is harrowing. But when Brooklyn is kidnapped next, Ethan faces the ultimate nightmare. He lost her once—he won’t lose her again.
I grew up in a house filled with books and readers. Some of my fondest memories are of reading in the same room with my mother and sisters, arguing about whose turn it was to make tea. No one wanted to put their book down! I was introduced to romance because of my mom’s habit of leaving books all over the house. One day I picked one up. I still remember the cover. It was a Harlequin by Janet Daily. Little did I know at the time that it would set the stage for my future. I went on to discover mystery novels. Agatha Christie was my favorite. And then suspense with Wilber Smith and Ian Fleming. I loved the thought of combining my favorite genres, and during high school, I attempted to write my first romantic suspense novel. I wrote the first four chapters and then exams happened and that was the end of that. I desperately hope that book died a quiet death somewhere in a computer recycling facility. A few years later, (okay, quite a few) after two degrees, a husband and two kids, I attended a workshop in Tuscany that lit that spark for writing again. I have been pounding the keyboard ever since here in New Jersey, where I live with my children—who are thrilled with my writing as it means they get to eat more pizza—and my very supportive husband.
This is the kind of book I like, constant motion, danger around every corner, suspense and who done it. The Yakuza aren't playing around, the last person in charge fooled them all. HEA.
A faithful night, a chance encounter and misunderstanding start this story off. Then the bad guys start acting up and Brooklyn and Ethan start working together for the safety of her Nephew. One thing leads to another and lots of things come to light. Team Koa goes all in and works their magic to bring this fast track criminal story with romance to its glory.
I enjoyed Ethan and Brooklyn's book for the most part. I wasn't feeling Brooklyn's initial behavior, but she redeemed herself eventually. I felt sorry for Ethan having to deal with the uncertainty that was an outcome of his situation. Yet, it did not stop him from being able to perform at the same level as Bellamy, Rusty, and Cooper.
This book moved at an even pace with the suspense being pretty consistent from start to finish. I liked Liam's character. It was interesting to me that there were episodes where it seemed as if it took Brooklyn, Nova, and the guys to put two and two together. Ethan and Brooklyn's story can be read as a standalone, but I found each team member's story to be enjoyable.
I do wonder when the heroine goes through all these different traumatic events, how she manages to act like life is back to normal just because she decides the bad guys have been neutralized. Why is there never any residual hesitation, anxiety, or outright fear after a series of events that would have had another person afraid to come out of the house? I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
I also thought it was a nice ending with the surprise twist and the update about all of the couples.
Romance, Mystery, and Suspense — A Thrilling Combination Secrets, second chances, and a deadly game of cat and mouse—this story had me hooked from the first page. Brooklyn thought Ethan had ghosted her, and she’s kept her distance ever since. So when he suddenly reappears, she treats him with nothing but cold indifference. Ethan, on the other hand, is baffled by her icy demeanor. But everything changes when someone tries to kidnap Brooklyn’s 12-year-old nephew—and she finds herself turning to Ethan for help. As they team up to protect her nephew, they uncover a chilling connection to the Yakuza. Brooklyn is certain her nephew has no ties to the gang, but the danger is real, and the stakes are rising. While they work together to unravel the mystery, Brooklyn discovers the truth about why Ethan disappeared—and it changes everything. The romantic tension sizzles, the mystery keeps you guessing, and the suspense never lets up. I especially enjoyed the emotional depth of the characters and the way their relationship evolved against the backdrop of danger and intrigue. I couldn’t put it down. If you’re a fan of fast-paced stories with a strong romantic thread, twisty mysteries, and plenty of suspense, this one is an absolute must-read.
Another great read in the Brotherhood protector storyline I love these small collection written by favourite authors that slip into this world
Brooklyn Alexander doesn't have much luck in romance first her serious boyfriend cheated on her then she came to Hawaii and met a man who she had a brilliant night with but then Ethan Foster ghosted her, but now her nephew is in danger and she knows she will have to swallow her pride as Ethan is one man she knows can help Ethan has always been attracted to her but can't understand why she always gives him the cold shoulder. As they work together to keep him safe the truth comes out Ethan never ghosted her a concussion caused him to lose a 24 hour period of his life and he doesn't remember their night together but he does have haunting memories of a woman that he can't seem to forget Can they keep Liam safe can they build a future You will have to read to see
Once again we are given a non stop ride that will keep you engaged until the last page
Brooklyn spent one amazing night with Ethan and then he ghosted her, but when someone attempts to kidnap her nephew she knows he is the best person to help her work out what is going on.
Ethan had always been attracted to Brooklyn and didn’t understand why she gave him the cold shoulder, but he will do anything for her when she asks for help.
It turns out there was more going with them than they realized, but they eventually worked out what happened and the attraction that had been there all along is only made stronger the more time they spend together working out who is after her nephew.
I really liked the amount of suspense that was mixed in with the romance, it was a nice balance.
There are a lot of other characters in the story who I assume are from the other books in the series which I haven’t read, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this story.
"Ethan’s Command" by Lori Matthews is an exhilarating ride from start to finish! Matthews has truly crafted a masterpiece that effortlessly blends action, romance, and suspense. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, making it an easy and enjoyable read. I found myself unable to put the book down as each chapter left me eagerly anticipating what was to come next.
The chemistry between the characters is palpable, adding a delightful romantic element that perfectly complements the thrilling action. Ethan is a charismatic and dynamic character whose journey is both captivating and emotionally resonant.
Lori Matthews' writing style is crisp and clear, making the complex plot easy to follow while still keeping readers on the edge of their seats. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a heart-pounding adventure with a touch of romance. Highly recommend!
Oh no, it's the last of this team, but luckily not the last of Elle James' overall series. Ethan and Brooklyn have a history that he's forgotten after an accident. But he's there as her protector when her nephew Liam is in danger. A kidnapping attempt has her worried and frustrated, what on earth does anyone want with a 12 year old boy. The Yakuza are after something that Liam unknowingly has, danger is around every corner of this story. Ethan and Brooklyn communicate and find out why he forgot her. Their second chance at love is on hold while the hunt for Liam continues. Just when you think it's over with about 15 minutes left in the story it goes from bad to worse with a chilling twist. Great story, I loved it.
Brooklyn has custody her brother's son, Liam, while her brother is working out of the area. Nothing significant is going on in her life until Liam is kidnapped. A few months prior, Brookly had a fabulous night with Ethan. Then he ghosted her. Now Ethan is in charge of trying to find Liam. Why was Liam taken? Can Brooklyn get past her histroy with Ethan to get her nephew returned?
Bad guys who pretend they're good. People you thought were friends are suddenly not. Intrigue, international espionage, lost data devices, and just so much more.
Wow...I had not read any of the books in this world previously, but this one was fabulous! Not having read any of the books leading up to this one did not hurt my enjoyment of the story at all. A complete standalone.
Ethan works For Brotherhood Protector KOA Team Hawaii Team Charlie K- 9 unit. Mojo is Ethan K-9 partner. Brooklyn Alexander is a dental assistant and Liam’s Aunt. Liam is Brooklyn’s nephew.
Brooklyn and Ethan meet again , but he does not remember their first meeting because he was still recovering from a Concussion he received on their night together. The. Brooklyn’s nephew was almost kidnapped but ( she drove them off) and she contacted Ethan to help her with Liam which had a target on his back from the Yakuza cartel.
This book has and edge of your seat suspense, danger, twists, turns, and miscommunication.
Life throws some curve balls and whilst Brooklyn seems to get more than most, Ethan was not one she expected! They are supposed to be together, so fate sends them a second chance...if only Ethan knew! Can he make it count this time? I love that neither Brooklyn, Ethan, nor the Charlie Team hesitate to drop everything and protect Luke, and the bond he forms with Mojo is so cute too! A heart wrenchingly tough case, it's awful when kids are targeted and the team are reminded that sometimes it's the last person you suspect.... I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
A solid addition to the series: I enjoyed this romantic suspense novel and liked the intrigue which kept me guessing throughout. I hadn't read the other books which were written by other authors but in the same series as this one, and at times it felt as if I was missing out on some of the backstory. However I still got glimpses of the bond and camaraderie that existed between this group of friends. I liked Brooklyn and Ethan as a couple thought their story was unique. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
A great addition to the series. Ethan works for Brotherhood Protectors and meets Brooklyn at a bar. They have a night together and then Ethan basically dumps her.. She doesn't know that he was in an accident after leaving her house and doesn't remember their time together. It doesn't stop her from going to him for help when someone attempts to kidnap her nephew in front of her. She saves her nephew and now they must figure out who is behind the attempt and why. I loved the story. I read an arc of the book and this is my review.
Lori does it again. I have been reading her romantic suspense stories for a long time and I am never disappointed. The stories are full of intrigue, suspense and love. This one is not different. Love, love this story. I never guessed the villain which is really good in a story for me being surprised. These characters burrowed into my heart and I fell in love with their story. Fast-paced and edge-of-your-seat reading. Psst…the dog is so cute.
(4.5) Loved the plot, the fast pace and Brooklyn's capabilities. Ethan issue from the car accident was an eye opener. The kids gaming was so relatable. 🔥 was there. I started asking questions and piecing it together. Thank you for the advanced copy. I also purchased. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #Ethan'sCommand #BrotherhoodProtectorsWorld #TeamKOACharlie #LoriMatthews #TwistedPage ##Bookfunnel
This was a really good exciting read! Ethan is the last of the Team Koa Charlie guys to find love. When Brooklyn calls Ethan to ask for help after an attempt on her nephew Liam’s life she is not real friendly because he can’t remember that they had a night together. He had been in an accident and lost his memory of the night. As the attempts hit up we find that the Yakuza are after Liam. Now to find out why?
Good read. I love Lori's writing. This story could have had a little more on their relationship, but its always good to have a solid story. This story is different because it's not about human trafficking and having the pulp beaten out of the heroin. And having her scared for life. I personally am so tired of that subject. I love strong women but not hard ones. I am looking forward to years of good stories and good writing from Lori.
Lori has continued the chaos riding the big island tugging your hearts as danger & emotions battle it out with Ethan & Brooklyn. You have to love Mojo & his part in all aspects. I enjoyed the level head that Ethan is. The suspense ramps up even as the fustration & feelings get in the way. The action, suspense & romance all comes to a dazzling end as this team come on top of the villains.
Exciting with lots of drama and unexpected surprises as Brooklyn tries to protect her nephew. Her previous history with Ethan is complicated as she thinks he ghosted her previously but there are reasons that eventually come to light. The whole story is engrossing and I love that Ethan is protective of Brooklyn even though she appears to dislike him. Really enjoyable story.
Ethan's Command: he had dreams about a women but didn't know who it was. Ever since the accident he has bad headaches and doesn't remember a few things. When they guys and their girlfriends would go to the local bar he would see Brooklyn there but didn't understand why she avoid him. It was a great story!
Brooke is taking care of her nephew when someone tries to kidnap him. Ethan who doesn't remember her because of an accident comes to help and Brooke just thinks he's not interested. There's plenty of danger, action, suspense, and a surprise as to who was in charge of the cartel.
Ethan’s Command by Lori Matthew’s is book 4 in the Brotherhood Protectors Team KOA Charlie, written by various authors.
Last up is Ethan and Brooklyn who spend an unforgettable night but he up and disappeared..only she doesn’t know the circumstances of why he left with no contact. When her nephew is almost kidnapped she turn to the only person she feels can help, Ethan! Suspense, action, fast paced, intrigue, twists, turns, and discovering why no contact. Great read and a way to wrap up this series!!
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was gifted an ARC Copy of this book, and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is a well written story with great characters. The dog it a main character in this story and helps to make this story. I would encourage everyone to get this one it is worth your time.
Ethan’s memory loss adds a different twist to the story. Nonstop action. Sad that this is the end of Charlie books. Enjoyed them all. This one was a bit quicker read than the others.
Well, I think we have covered all the different types of bad guy now. This one did have an interesting twist. Equality. I found this hard to stay with. Personal stuff, I think. But I did finish it all the way to the happy.
This second chance romance for Ethan and Brooklyn was perfect! This was a great addition to the series and I have to say that I never saw that coming! Great series ladies!
