5 Star Review Daniil (Royal Protectors #5) by Kat Mizera
This is a bittersweet read knowing that this is the last book in the Royal Protectors series.
From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that Ms. Mizera wove. There were equal amounts of romance and suspense which was entertaining.
Well written, the storyline held me captive. The characters were easy to relate to and I really liked them.
The chemistry between Prince Daniil Gustaffson and Courtney Courtney Grimshaw was intense and I found myself swooning on a number of occasions.
After a passionate night Courtney ghosts Daniil. Life is complicated as Daniil is not only a protector but is also a prince. Whilst Courtney will do whatever is needed to keep her son Micah safe. What will happen when Daniil learns the truth?
The secondary characters were just as entertaining and it was great to see familiar faces make an appearance.

Universal
Daniil hasn't been as interested in someone in a long time as he has been Courtney. But she's ghosted him since their last time together. He's been wracking his brain for a reason, trying to figure out if he did anything wrong, or if she's just truly not interested. If that's the case, it would be a huge disappointment for the man who can't stop thinking about her. But he will find her if it's the last thing he does. He wants her, he wants the truth of her feelings, and he can only hope she reciprocates his.
Courtney's keeping a huge secret from Daniil, from almost everyone. She knows if he ever finds out, he'll be furious, and hurt, but she's only thinking of the safety of someone else she loves most. She hopes Daniil never finds her, but if he does, she'll have to just deal, explain her reasoning and surely he'll understand. She won't be letting him past her walls, though, and definitely not into her heart that's guarded more than most.
Daniil and Courtney are definitely the right couple to end this epic series. I think Daniil is my favorite character in the series - he's so sweet and protective and I was rooting him on. Unfortunately, Courtney led him on a merry (not so much) chase to even get on the same continent, let alone to admit her feelings. I was furious at her keeping such a huge secret from Daniil, but I could sort of understand. It all worked out, though, and the little twist at the end (Erik!!) made Daniil even better. I'm going to miss the Royal Protectors and Limaj, but Kat saved the best royal for last.

Daniil is the fifth and final book of the Royal Protectors series and follows Prince Daniil as he tracks down the one and only woman to pique his interest for more than one night.
Daniil is a prince who returned to Limaj from exile when King Erik took over the throne. His brother, Sandor, and his sister, Elen, have both found love, settled down and had children. At one time, he was married to Jesper, but when he realized that he was not in love with him, they divorced. They remained friends and he became Uncle Danny to Jesper's children.
Courtney is a retired Major in the United States Marine Corp. She flew helicopters for them and did multiple deployments to the Middle East. Her best friend, Lennox, is married to Prince Sandor of Limaj. She has visited the country and palace twice and both times were eventful.
On Courtney's first visit to Limaj for Lennox's wedding, she had a one night stand with Daniil. She left him without a word. On her second, and last trip, to Limaj, she and Daniil reconnected for a few days. But when she is forced to choose between her best friend or saving a member of the royal family, it is too much for her. Again, she leaves without a word.
Lennox is starting to get worried. She has not heard from Courtney since her last trip. They always call each other on their birthdays. She is unable to reach her and she fears what is going on. When she voices her concerns to Sandor, Daniil is there and decides to find out what is going on with Courtney. Boy is he in for a surprise that will rock his world.
After calling Landon, also known as Grim, and not getting an answer he is happy with, Daniil decides to make a trip to Vegas. He decides to visit Club Inferno, with Marcus, his bodyguard.
Chains asks Courtney to work security at Club Inferno since he is short handed right now. Her brother was hurt on his last "off the books" mission he did and needs time to recuperate. While doing her rounds, she spots a flash from her past that she would prefer remains in her past. So much so that she speaks with Jamie about the situation, as well as the bartender. She is putting in a contingency plan, just in case.
But contingency plans only work if they are planned out. As such, Courtney has been found by the one person she was hiding from. But things go from bad to worse for her when she is confronted at her home. She is scared and mad as a hornet that he dared to follow her home to find out where she lives.
But when her secrets and deceptions are revealed, will Daniil forgive her? Will Courtney learn to trust him and give him a chance?
When her worst nightmare comes true, and multiple people are injured, she calls in the troops. Her brother, Grim. His work partner, and longtime friend, Rage. And, surprisingly, the owner of the security company she works for, Chains. They all show up when she needs them most.
When the nightmare is resolved, Daniil knows he has lost Courtney. He knows her fears, and what just happened will send her running. Sadly, there is nothing he can do about it, except to accept the fallout. Or maybe not.
So many emotions run through this book. Anger, hurt, deception, distrust, betrayal, and love. Will the love be enough to overcome all of the negative aspects that come with Courtney being with Daniil? Can Daniil prove to her that he can protect her.
I do not agree with what Courtney did, but I understand why. However, she is a grown woman and she was in the Marines. She knows things happen that are out of your control. I understand her fear, but she needs to pull up her big girl panties and deal with it.
As for Daniil, he is known as the playboy prince and he has earned that moniker. Can he prove to Courtney that she is the only one for him?
So many things happen in this book. There is always something coming at you. Be prepared to get mad at these two. Be prepared to cry. Be prepared to ask why. This is a great ending to this story. And I can't wait for the spinoff series that is coming.

This is the final book in the Royal Protectors series by Kat Mizera. As in all the other books in this series there is some spiciness, love, romance, power struggles, turmoil, danger and more. It is a good send off in the series while also showing us where a new one is starting. It was one you can’t put down until you are finished.
Prince Daniil Gustaffson never imagined he would be in the position he is at the moment, back in Limaj, divorced from Jesper, working as part of the government and desperately trying to find the woman who took his heart months ago. She had just disappeared out of the blue leaving a lot of people behind wondering where she had gone. Daniil decided that in order to find out if what they had together was just a pass in the night or something amazing he needed to find her, no matter the cost. What he wasn’t expecting though was the true reason she disappeared. Could he convince her to come out of hiding or would he have to stay on the sidelines in order to protect those he loves?
Courtenay Grimshaw had this exciting life as a helicopter pilot in the US Military, she thought she would do it forever. But an incident in Limaj protecting part of the Royal Family and some amazing nights with a Prine left her in a situation. She realized that if she stayed with Prince Daniil her life would be at risk, along with others. It wasn’t a chance she was going to take, so she ran as fast as she could and hid. But he found her and now was trying to say that he would do anything to keep not only her safe but also the special package she came with. The problem was as much as he said he could protect them, something happened that would make her want to hide even more. Can love overcome the fears or is their relationship one where it is better for both parties to be apart.

When Lennox voices her concern over not hearing from and unable to reach Courtney to Sandor, Daniil is there and decides to find out what is going on with Courtney. Daniil heads to Vegas when he doesn't get the answers he wants from Grim, Courtney's brother. How will Daniil react when he learns the secret Courtney has been hiding from him? Can Daniil forgive Courtney for her secrets and deception? Can Courtney learn to trust Daniil? Can Courtney give Daniil a second chance? Can Daniil protect Courtney and their family? Can Daniil put Courtney before his duty to the King and his country? Can Daniil and Courtney find their happily ever after? I enjoyed Daniil by Kat Mizera. Daniil and Courtney are a great couple with scorching hot chemistry. Daniil is a great end to the Royal Protectors series. Looking forward to the new series starting with Grim's book. I would highly recommend getting Daniil and the other books in the Royal Protector series by Kat Mizera. I received a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

The Royal Protectors series is one of my favorite series by Kat Mizera. I’m ridiculously sad to see it end, but I think what comes next is going to be just as powerful!
Note: I never say this lol, but if you’re new to this world, it’s okay to not read all the books before you get to this one. At the beginning of this book there’s a “timeline/reading order” summary that gives you just a hint of everyone who came before, and it should be enough for you not to be “lost” as one normally would be when reading series out of order. Okay, maybe I’m just a little OCD about this whole reading from the beginning, but you’ll be fine if you just read here.
Okay then, let’s chat about this story …
As per usual, the intrigue and suspense were pretty spectacular, and it will keep you on your toes for most of the story. The secrets have secrets, as I like to say, and emotions run very high throughout the storyline. The best part of this story is that thru Kat’s word wizardry, the reader doesn’t just get to “read” this story, but they also “feel” it. At least that was the case with me. Every circumstance that unfolds and every plot point that turns this story on its axis sparked with energy and I felt it all. #winning There were times that I was frustrated, furious, deliriously happy, sad, mad and everything in between but through it all, there was this energy to their story that kept me on the edge. You can’t ask for a better feeling than that for a “suspense” story!

The return to Kat Mizera's Royal Protectors os bittersweet, as DANIIL is the final addition to this wonderful series. A second chance, protective hero, he falls first romance which was romantic, suspenseful and thoroughly enjoyable.
Daniil Gustaffson is a prince of Limaj and has the reputation of being a playboy, yet he constantly feels the pangs of loneliness, missing the woman he only spent one weekend with. A woman wo left without saying goodbye, who has disappeared, and who lives a world away. Courtney Grimshaw is in hiding, keeping a secret close to her heart, one she doesn't want Daniil to know of. Why? She wants to protect her son. She believes she will not fit into Daniil's world. What will happen when Daniil finds her and learns of her secret?
I loved this book, I laughed, shed a few tears, grew frustrated, and fell for two amazing characters. Kat brilliantly worked up to the suspense I knew was going to eventuatem and when it happened my jaw fropped. Even though this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading all the books, even going back to the trilogy which started it al, The Royal Trilogy . Kat has even set up her next series, Shadow Security , and I can't wait.

I loved this book, I laughed, shed a few tears, grew frustrated, and fell for two amazing characters. Kat brilliantly worked up to the suspense I knew was going to eventuatem and when it happened my jaw fropped. Even though this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading all the books, even going back to the trilogy which started it al, The Royal Trilogy . Kat has even set up her next series, Shadow Security , and I can't wait.

I’m sad to see the Royal Protectors series end, but what a way to go out. Daniil is full of mixed emotions for both the characters and the reader. Everyone wants love to win out, but when is love in the way of safety?
Daniil and Courtney live half a world away from each other which makes her hiding from their fling a little easier. All Courtney wants to do is keep her son’s lineage hidden and him safe. His dad’s life as a Royal and Royal Protector is always in danger so it’s better this way. Daniil can’t get Courtney out of his mind and her disappearance is driving him crazy. He has to find her and get some answers. The past has a way of rearing its ugly head and repeating itself. Daniil wants it all, but will he realize that Courtney was right all along?
I built my own suspense knowing something was going to happen, but when, where, and who was Kat’s suspense. I love this about her books. While you could certainly read this as a stand alone, I highly suggest you read the whole series and even start with the Royal Trilogy. You can read the entire story without the agonizing wait for the next book to be released.

Loved the chemistry between Daniil & Courtney but also the relationship that evolved between them which was a bit unconventional. A great addition to this series and excited to see what comes next!

I can't believe we're already at the final book of the Royal Protectors series by Kat Mizera. My heart is sad. However, the good thing is that we get Daniil's story in this book. Can Daniil find the missing part of his heart? He met someone, but where did she go? What do we know about Daniil? Who is or was Jesper? Who does he end up falling in love with, Daniil that is? What happens when Courtney leaves Limaj? Will she be able to stay friends with Lennox? When Courtney disappears, why does Lennox worry? What happens when Linux doesn't hear from Courtney on her birthday? What does she say to Sandor? What does Daniil do when he overhears this? Why does Chains ask Courtney to work at the club? What happens when she is working one night? Things become tense when factors such as distrust, anger, secrets, and love are thrown into the mix. Can love overcome all? What was Courtney's reason for leaving Limaj? Does that matter to Daniil? Read and see what happens. This was an emotionally charged ending to the series for me. The one thing I am happy about is the spin-off series that's coming.

Heartfelt, rewarding and decadently steamy! Kat Mizera is bringing all the feels with the last book in her Royal Protectors series and I loved every single minute of it. I loved the main characters, the interaction with all of our friends from previous books in the series and the twists and turns that no one was expecting. Great plot, endearing follow through and exhilarating turnabouts in a well developed series.
Daniil is King Erik's cousin and Sandor's brother, so I was already very familiar with him and ready to love everything about him ... and I did. I felt for him during the angsty parts and rejoiced for him when he gets closer to that happily ever after. He's a sincere guy and I found it really easy to root for him.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that loves a good protector series with lots of royalty involved as each member of the team finds their forever love. I can't wait for the spinoff series to come!

Where do I start with this book? Daniil has always been one of my favorite characters in this series because he has always seemed wild in a polished suit man. Let me tell you he did not disappoint in this book but we got to also see a different side of him. While being wild and doing as he wanted he showed that with the proper love and devotion to a great women he could settle down and be a strong partner. Courtney truly surprised me in this book she was so much more than she appeared in the previous story. She didn't back down and stood her ground against the force of nature that is Daniil. When she needed to she stood up for herself and their family even when it was a twist no one was expecting. Watching the two of them come together and realize that they could be together while each reaching their goals kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what the next series has to hold for us.

But she had disappeared and nobody would tell him where she was and now he wants some answers when he finds her.
Courtney never intended to tell Daniil that he had a son because she would so anything to keep Micah safe but he’s found out about Micah and now she needs to figure out the best way to move forward especially for Micah.

Daniil, book five in the Royal Protectors series is a fantastic addition to this series. It was easy to fall for both Daniil and Courtney and I love their strong personalities especially when it comes to their infant son Micah. Courtney is worried about Micah’s safety if his father’s identity is revealed and she worries about the two of them living in Limaji especially after the trauma she experienced the last time she was there. Prince Daniil just found out he has a son and their bond is immediate. Now, he will do whatever is necessary to keep him and Courtney, the woman who owns his heart safe. They both have big decisions to make if they have any hopes of staying together as a family. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey with all the ups and downs as they both struggled with a way to find their happily ever after as a family.

I have been waiting for Daniil's story and it did not disappoint. Daniil is a Prince of Limaj and Minister of Foreign Affairs. But more than that Daniil is a Royal Protector. Courtney is a friend of his sister-in-law Lennox. Courtney has ghosted Daniil twice. Actually, Courtney has ghosted everyone. Daniil sets out to find her and when he does, he discovers why Courtney disappeared. Can he convince her that with him is where she should be?
I enjoyed Daniil and Courtney's story although sometimes I struggled with Courtney's need to be independent. Daniil is a good ending to the Royal Protectors series and I am looking forward to Grim's story. As always it wa great to see the characters from the previous books.

Daniil is a prince and an important Minister in his home country of Limaj. Despite his interest in Courtney, he ends up being ghosted by her. When he realises that she is missing , he sets out to find her and this time he is not letting go.
To his surprise, there is a major revelation awaiting him. I loved how patient and how persistent he was in showing her through his words and actions how much she meant to him. The grand gesture at the end truly defined how his priorities have changed.
This has been an amazing series so far and I loved the hint of the upcoming new series. I love Grim and I can’t wait for him to fall next.

I felt for Courtney in this one. Initially I was pissed with what she did at the start, but once she started to explain things to Daniil, I very much got her point of view. I'm glad that Daniil did too. Courtney had very valid reasons and later on she was proven right. I hated how that turned out, hated that she had to go through that, hated that all of them at the castle had to face one more betrayal. I do think that Courtney and Danill did resolve things in a good way for them. I also like that Erik didn't cut all the ties, that he proved he is still all about family and things can be done differently for different people if this is what they need.

I have loved this series and Daniil was no exception. Daniil and Courtney have had a couple of weekends together and he can't seem to let her go, even though she has basically ghosted everyone. He was fine with his playboy persona, but there is something about Courtney that he can't get over, so he goes to Vegas to figure out why she isn't responding to anyone, even her best friend Lennox. Courtney is keeping a secret from everyone, even though she knows she is going to have to come clean at some point.
I really enjoyed this book and all of the obstacles (there were a lot) they had to go through to be together. This was a great ending to the Protectors. Daniel and Courtney were meant to be from the get go. Initially I had a hard time liking Courtney, it was hard to understand how she could ghost everyone and keep Micah’s existence a secret from his father. As I got to know Courtney, I came to understand and respect her. As Daniil and Courtney get closer and get to know one another it was fun to watch them fall in love as the trust grows. Then the worst happens when Micah is taken and they are betrayed by someone in their close circle. As this creates a rift in their fragile relationship, Courtney heads back to Vegas with a broken heart. Both are miserable. When Eric gives Daniil permission to go after his family and live his life to the fullest. I am so looking forward to the next chapter or should I say series.
