IN THE DEADLY REACHES OF THE OUTER REALMS, THE DOOM VAULT AWAITS.
The Realms are on the brink of annihilation. The Elders of the Light have kidnapped Lex, Gryph’s trusty right-hand-man, and the only entity possessing the knowledge of how to remove a Prime Godhead. At least without blowing a massive hole in reality.
Now, as they take flight in pursuit, Gryph must power himself up by any means necessary. For, in the dark places of the Outer Realms, primal forces beyond anything Gryph has ever faced lay waiting.
With the aid of an unlikely, and untrustworthy, ally, Gryph must journey to the Doom Vault, an ancient fortress his soul once called home. There, he will fight against gods, uncover ancient secrets and be forced to make impossible choices that will determine the very fate of the Realms.
But some knowledge comes with a ⚔️ The real reason the Realms were created. ⚔️ What the Prime are truly trying to escape. ⚔️ Why the Source was murdered in the first place. ⚔️ The cosmic threat that makes gods tremble. ⚔️ Lex's final choice between salvation and survival.

After reading an editorial claiming Dungeons and Dragons drove kids to worship dark forces in the sewers, C.M. Carney's mother immediately bought it for him. He was ten, and it's probably a good thing he was afraid of sewers. Since then he has been obsessed with reading, writing and playing all things fantasy and science fiction.
After spending nearly two decades working as a creative executive for an animation and SFX studio, C.M. decided to pursue his lifelong dream of writing and publishing novels and short stories.
He writes sci-fi, fantasy and LitRPG that run the gamut from epic to humorous. His first novel Barrow King: Book One of The Realms was published in February 2018 and has become a #1 Bestseller in Norse and Viking Myths and Legends and a #1 Bestseller in Role Playing and Fantasy Games.
He loves hearing from fans, like minded thinkers and anyone else who shares his dislike of sewers.
As one of many readers who have been waiting a long time for this installment of The Realms to release, I cannot say I’m ending my read-through with any amount of negative emotion surrounding the book itself. Towards the MASSIVE CLIFF HANGER, CHRIS! Yes. But Doom Vault did not disappoint. Admittedly, I went into this book worried about the massive power up Gryph would need to gain in order to even be a significant threat to the players in question. Chris handled that just fine though, thank you very much. Some might feel like the power ups and various gains throughout the story were “gotchas” but they were all not only plausible based on the rules of the System, but extremely well-crafted twists.
There were also great tie-ins to the earlier books, clearing up both some ambiguities and some incorrect theories I had about some of the background details. All-in-all, a fantastic read that was worth the wait, and if you take this long to write Source Forge I might have to call the mightiest of all Xegs to bring you to Bxrthygaal for Cruciata, for some othersmeanings!
So it finally came out!! Have been looking forward to this for a few years and it didn’t disappoint at all! I really enjoyed the introduction and the book only improved from that point. I can’t wait until the next one comes out and really excited to hear this in audio!
I'm sorry, but not everything can be a force multiplier. For three or four chapters in the middle, Gryph deals with all his prompts, and every new skill is a force multiplier. The plot twists are also becoming less twisty and more the same as they were in the earlier books, with most major fights playing out very similarly.
I thought it was good. Some of the growth and prompt sequences were a bit long. Other than that and the long break between books, I felt the story was well told, editing is very good and I look forward to the series finale.
Said to see the Realms series come to end but also excited to see what Soul Forge brings us. I really appreciated the way CM Carney leaves no character safe from their story ending. I also really appreciate the cliff hangers but also hate them.
