I would recommend this series and author to readers of romantic family and friends relationships adventures action mystery novels 😋😏 2025 😃✨
This is the 2nd book in this series. While the story was interesting in both books, the writing is terrible. Very poor sentence structure made me frequently pause to figure out what the author was trying to convey. And lots of missing words, incorrect pronouns, and other very obvious mistakes -- which I suppose could have happened when the book was converted to Kindle. If I hadn't been at home nursing a bad cold with nothing else to do, perhaps I would have given up midway through the 1st book. But as stated above, the story itself was engaging, and the author did an effective job of setting up dramatic cliff hangers at the end of each book.
This is a well written, but overly strange story with predictions, psychometry, visions, and a house that seems to know the main character better than she knows herself. The characters are all slightly off kilter, not so much in a bad way, but chock full of secrets. The plot is straightforward as much as a strange story like this can be. The premise is finding out who or what killed the boy, they found in the foundation of the house about to be torn down and why. The answers just added to the overall strangeness. I am NOT disrespecting the story at all. This is just a story written in a completely new format for me. I definitely recommend the reader take the time and effort to read it.
In the right hands, this could be a great book... with the current (bad) editing, lazy writing by repeating the same scene without any POV changes in at least three to four chapters, and what appears to be a bad memory of what was already written, it pulls the story down to just tolerable. If in the first two chapters you are told a person has a key to a house, then you give that same person a key to the house later in the book (why doesn't he already have one?) and then in the very next chapter he has to use a key that was in a hide-a-key to get in, either the author forgot or the the person is really bad with keys. Fix it.
The book in itself kept me going but there were inconsistencies a few times. One in particular at the end of the book Kat has to go to the police station. She hands Dante a silver key so he come in and make dinner for and makes quite a big moment of it but when she gets home from the station she is surprised that Dante’s car is in the driveway and then wonders how he got in the house. A whole chapter was written about the Hide a Key. I can deal with the many miss spellings and the wrong pronoun. So while I look forward to the next one because it leaves you totally hanging I hope the writing is more consistent.
Enjoyable, though predictable book. Chapter 13 was confusing as it led me to believe Chris was real. As a general rule, I expect both flashbacks or possible scenarios to be in italics.
Disappointed with the lack of details after the killer was arrested. I think the killers actions could have a lot to do with Jonathan's behavior, but the crime up was somewhat rushed.
I didn't find Dante all that endearing of a character, but the house and Kat's family story kept me reading.
I hated that Rita ignored how horrible Stanley was! She chose to drink over protecting her most precious thing her children. Johnny was a problem that should never have been allowed to destroy the whole family but that also was because of Stanley punishing him for everyone elses mistakes. Moving would have saved the children and dumping Stanley would have solved a lot of heartache. I am thrilled Stanley will have to pay for his actions. I believed Jason was innocent.
It's stated that Dante has a key. Then later, Kat has to give him a key. Then after that, he has to ask Kinley how to get into her house and he uses a hide-a-key that's in a rock?! I dont know who proof read this, or who edited it, but they did a poor job.
Then there's "here" instead of "hear". "Him" where it should be "home" and other words are just flat out missing. I probably won't read any more books from this series/author.

The storyline to this series is interesting. I like the Kat and Monkey and their working relationship and growing friendship. I look forward as more secrets are revealed in future the problem for me is the grammar. Sometimes words are missing or the incorrect words are used. Also, sometimes it seems like the author forgot what she wrote in previous chapters and says conflicting things later. Overall, enjoyable.
Well I enjoyed both books in this series I was led to believe that There were only 2 books in the series. Now that I've completed the second book Had some inconsistencies, On page 162, Kat gave Dante a key so why all the nonsense about a key box . Also the book ends with loss ends and hanging questions ! I don't like being told that the story will end and then having to read more books to final get answers , it is not fair .
The number of spelling errors or incorrect words and grammar issues in this book was so frustrating. It's so annoying having to reread something because there wasn't proper grammar or spelling. I enjoyed the story though in some ways it was predictable. There were inconsistencies in the story too.
The idea was good, but the book was poorly written and the story had no natural “flow.” In addition, there were contradictions and numerous grammatical errors throughout the book. This author needs to start carefully editing her own books or hire someone to do it for her. She has potential, so I gave her two stars.
I have to confess, I didn't completely finish this. I loved book one and couldn't wait to read the sequel. However not far into it it kept going deeper into really serious subjects. IV drug use, child abuse, forced same s$x situations. Not what I was looking for at all.
Good storyline, but it's hard to read in some areas due to grammatical errors. There are also parts that in an earlier chapters events take place, yet in later chapters, it is written that those events are happening again for the first time. Assuming this is an editor issue.
Kat has cleaned the house of all the excess stuff. The house has given her only a name. Then the police find a body. As Kat learns more about the participants her insights begin to develop. A big reveal is at the ending.
Nice quick cozy with relatable characters, a smidge of romance and several mysteries. Only issue was editing missed quite a few spelling errors and incorrect pronouns.
Enjoyed this series so far. The characters and the town. Makes you expect to find this town on the map. Overlook the few grammatical errors. It’s worth it!
