First of all, Thank you so much to the Author and Moon Glad Literary Tours (on Insta) for giving me the opportunity to read and review this beautiful book.

So basically the story is about Lawrence and Cassie. They are fashion people, I mean Lawrence work as head designer in Prada and the Cassie is editor in making at Elle Magazine and they both going to New York Fashion Week, staying in the same hotel. I really loved the way author wrote their characters, complex yet so simple. The writing style was really good and while reading I was feeling like I’m in a movie yk like everything is happening in front of me, it felt so real. The fashion show scenes were so well written and I really really enjoy the elevator scenes and that coincidentally matching outfit scene. And each time they saw each other, the cuteness hit harder. Even the ending was pure cuteness. 🥹🤌❤️

On the other hand, there were some loopholes and I felt like there should have been a little more back story, it’s always good to see the character’s journey a lil bit more. Still as it’s a Debut book of the Author so I know she’d get better because she has so much potential. I’m gonna write my fav quote from the book here:

"Honey, let me tell you something. When it comes to money and fame, the world can get ugly. Very ugly. And not just in the world of celebrities and influencers but in everyday life too. Perhaps even more so. People don't waste a single second to become cocky when they gain some attention and would do anything to maintain their stature, even if it means belittling others and ruining them.”

For recommending, I’ll definitely recommend to you guys If you like reading debut books or even Books about Fashion industry and New York. Gonna give it 5 stars, wanted to give 4 but then it’s author’s debut book and she has potential so gonna encourage her to write more books.

Elevator 143 is a sweet romance set in the New York City. It follows Lawrence and Cassie, two fashion industry professionals staying at the same hotel during Fashion Week who end up connecting in an elevator. While the main characters were cute, my personal favorite was Mrs. Frederickson, the charming, elderly woman who offered advice and helped guide their journey. The story captures some great NYC vibes and experiences that honestly made me want to go there myself!
Now to the part that bugged me a lot, I do think the book had potential that wasn’t fully realized. The plot was definitely interesting, but the execution didn’t quite sit well for me. At under 200 pages, I expected a quick, engaging read, but I found myself struggling to stay invested. The formatting made the dialogue a little hard to follow in the beginning, and I had to re-read a few conversations to understand who was speaking. Some of the character actions felt repetitive with lots of face-turning, face-hiding, and facepalming, which distracted me from the emotional flow. There were also a few grammar issues that could’ve been cleaned up with another round of proofreading.
All in all, the core story has charm, and with some polishing, I think it could become a really cozy and enjoyable romance. I’m hopeful the author keeps writing, because there’s a lot of heart in the storytelling, it just needs a bit more refining to truly shine.

When I started this book, I most certainly DID NOT expect it to be this good!!! Let me start from the beginning.
Elevator 143 feels like a dive into the early 2000s rom-com, that too set in New York. Our main characters, Cassie and Lawrence are both in the fashion industry. I did not know that I needed this in my life., but experiencing this up close was really refreshing.
I binge-read this book in like 2 days. It’s short and sweet. There's every element of romance present here and I was here for it. I haven’t read such a easygoing book in a while.

I would like to say this book was “stylishly good”. Reading about their outfits did make me want to dress up a little bit :3. I love both the characters so much and I would love for you to meet them as well.

I enjoyed each second of this book.

I really enjoyed the idea behind this debut book. The concept is fun, modern & filled with all the elements romance readers usually gravitate toward. The characters were likable, the setup was engaging. It’s the kind of book you pick up expecting something light & entertaining

What didn’t work for me as much was the pacing & emotional buildup. Everything happens very quickly, especially the romance, which made some moments feel rushed & a little unrealistic. I wished there was more time spent developing the emotional connection, because the potential was definitely there, it just needed more space to breathe

This is Mehek Nasir’s debut novel & I genuinely admire the courage it takes to put your first book out into the world. There’s a clear passion for storytelling here & with a bit more polish, her future work could be even stronger. I’m also very grateful that she chose to approach me & trusted me with her work. Wishing her nothing but growth & success ahead
