Rate this book
Jonathan Frid was thought to be something of a mysterious figure: He disliked the celebrity spotlight, he never aspired to stardom and seldom spoke about his private life. What made him tick? What kind of a man was he? From his early days on the stage to his time as vampire Barnabas Collins on the cult television classic Dark Shadows, Remembering Jonathan Frid gathers friends, family and colleagues to share their insights and memories of this complex and talented actor, illustrated throughout with over 130 rare and unseen photographs.

Very bittersweet read. I enjoyed the 'behind the scenes' type of stories, whether it be Mr. Frid rehearsing his one-man show, the process behind producing the show or the encounters with fans. These stories were tiny snippets into his life outside of Dark Shadows and I appreciate his fans and colleagues contribution of these little gems.

I am a long time fan of Jonathan Frid/Dark Shadows. However this book is mainly by people who worked with him post Dark Shadows and although they do a good job of describing his personality and other achievements, some of it was redundant information. I was hoping it would be more about his journey on the show from the characters he worked with but there are other books similar to that. Either way, no disrespect- he is a class act and this book certainly solidifies that.

An excellent book on getting the gist of Jonathan Frid, made up of slices-of-life chapters from those who knew him, ran into him, worked for him, etc. Nice pictures, too. [my chapter seemed to have had a lot of omission-typos and is hard to read, and doesn't have the art I would have chosen, but over all it's a good book!] ;-)

Lots of typos and poor grammar. The book was written by people who knew Frid on a personal level in his later years so it kind of shatters his magical image...glad I read it though.
