🔮 Seven witches. Seven stories. One powerful destiny. 🔮
In Glasgow’s West End, the circle stirs again along Great Western Road. Catriona “Cat” Fraser—café owner with a reckless streak—and Isla Macrae—bookish, careful, newly brave—find their quiet lives shattered when a shadowy presence attacks and a grandmother’s grimoire answers back. In candlelight and salt, a ritual cracks the world Cat’s power ignites like lightning in her veins, and Isla’s gift rings true as calm in the storm.
But the awakening doesn’t stop with them. A florist whose blooms bend toward her touch—Morven Douglas—walks into Cat’s shop, and into Cat’s chest like a spark. As watchers gather and mirrors whisper, the women turn to Isla’s enigmatic neighbor Jean—the Keeper—who knows far more than she lets on…and far longer than she should. Seven women, one weave, and something old is waking.
Great Western Road follows Cat as she tests the edges of a dangerous, dazzling gift, faces a hunting shadow, and risks her heart on a slow-burn attraction she never saw coming. With cozy witchcraft, Glasgow charm, and a rising threat, Book 2 deepens the sisterhood, the stakes, and the romance at the heart of The Witches of Scotland.
✨ Love, magick, and fate are calling—again. ✨
📚 Perfect for readers who ✅ Witchy romance in a modern Scottish city ✅ F/F slow-burn with electric chemistry (Cat × Morven) ✅ Found-family coven vibes & “learning your power” trials ✅ Glimmering rituals, grimoires, and mysterious watchers ✅ Mentor lore (Keepers, prophecies) and a looming, unseen enemy
This is the second book in the The Witches of Great Western Road!

The second book in the series picks up where book one left off, but focuses on Cat Fraser. She owns a bookstore and after meeting her in book one, it’s clear that she is a rash, impulsive, and slightly reckless witch.
This installment shows more character and power development for both Cat and Isla McRae, and introduces a third witch, Morven Douglas, who owns a flower shop. A very strong and very weird shadow-type entity attacks Cat in her shop. The grimoire explains more about what’s happening, and Isla’s neighbor Jean reveals more history and provides needed encouragement. There is a definite sense of something ancient and deep re-awakening and the stakes get bigger. And Cat has a bi-awakening that I thought was insightfully handled. This book brought out more action and emotional investment. Looking forward to book three!
Imagine that someone had read a lot of Nora Roberts, especially the key series, and also really liked The TV show Charmed. Then they wrote a novel and decided that every 130 pages, they would chop it up and make that a book. And throw in women becoming Bi because they developed magic powers even though they had never been bi before. Sounds awful right? Well, I made it through the first two books even though they were more like novellas and I have zero interest in reading more. Too many plot holes and dividing up a storyline like that is a crime against literature.
Book 2 didn't disappoint! Thing are hotting up for the witches, as they learn about their power and meet witch number 3 ,Morden. And I was pleased to see that yes ,characters from The Witches of Scotland are showing up ,it looks like the stories are are starting to merge into The Witches of Scotland series. Loving the new series.
from the very first page, the book breathes excitement. The relationship's are quickly formed, it's only a short book but packed with suspense, who is the shadow figure following Cat and Isla, what's happend Morven and will Cat survive being hit by the van, I hope we get some answers or more questions in the following books.
This story is well written and an exciting read. You never know what will happen next! I've yet to pick up a Steven Aitchson book I haven't liked. They are all hard to put down and I'm bereft when the story ends and immediately move onto the next. You could make a case for my being addicted to these books.😄
3.5 stars - better than the 1st book in the series, but still needs some editing. Ex - The 3 girls were told to stay together and then suddenly one of them is just gone with no explanation. Again, book feels like a long chapter, not a book that can stand on its own. Not sure I will finish the series.
Isla and cat are still learning about their gifts with the help of Jean the watcher, Isla is still dating alistair, new Witches have come to aid their journey and Morven stirs the emotions of cat, lots of tension, lots of intrigue
What a fun series! Novel characters and situations well told with unexpected twists and turns. Quick reads but addicting. Can’t wait to continue the series!
Cat is a fiery, feisty woman who is excited to embrace her newfound Witchhood. She rushes headlong into matters without considering the consequences or sometimes regardless of what she knows the consequences are going to be. I felt that this book was rushed and much shorter than the first novella.
“The Great Western Road” was another quick, enjoyable read for me. Just like with the first book, I really liked the author’s writing style and found it very easy to fly through the pages. The characters continue to be a highlight, and I enjoyed spending more time in this world.
That said, this installment felt a bit rushed in places. There’s a lot of teasing and setup for what’s clearly coming later in the series, but I didn’t always feel like this particular book delivered enough on its own. Because of that, it landed slightly lower for me than Book 1 (3.5 stars rounded up), though I still enjoyed it overall and am curious to see where the story goes next.
