Violet never wanted to be part of the Coven. Now, she can’t imagine leaving it. After barely surviving her first few months as the Nucleus of Alpha Team, Violet is still coming to terms with her unpredictable magic, her growing desire for her teammates, and the realization that she may never have a normal life again. But when another enemy strikes, survival becomes her only priority—and something within her shifts. As she struggles to regain control, Violet is caught between the pull of the men she can’t resist, the rules she refuses to follow, and creatures far more dangerous than she ever imagined. But while she fights to stay alive, a darker threat is closing in on someone she loves… and she may already be too late to stop it.
Have you ever read a story and get so mad at the main character you have to stop reading the story? That was me with this one. How many times can someone be told to do something and then completely disregard it and do the opposite? The MC’s reasoning doesn’t even make sense on most of her decisions. Do not recommend.
Repetitive, FMC had zero personal evolution and still dumb as rocks, MMC's are beyond patient with her, friend never came back and stayed in the Fae realm with zero explanation as to why, she gave bestie a mirror to communicate and then only did it once and never heard from again, still dont know what happened to brother to cause his deafness. Overall this book had all the loose ends and no ties.
I have now read both books, and I would say reading the summary, these books had potential but I don't feel like it was reached. In book 1, Violet meets a dying man and suddenly his special nucleus power transfers to her, both activating her own dormant powers and linking her to the Alpha team. This puts her own life at risk from others who want this power ... A lot of people will read these books because the concept is promising. To address book B, the main character, Violet is really unlikeable, she is literally immature and unintelligent, and I'm not sure why so many writers and doing this to their FMC's. The Alpha team, there really isn't much depth there. And honestly, between their behaviour in books 1 and 2 combined with the FMC's behaviour, any declarations of love on either side seem premature. Finally, the storyline itself wasn't very well spaced out. This book picks up where book A ended. I would say there are 4- 5 events in this book, but these events were secondary to the angst which took up most of the book, and then the final event and conclusion felt rushed and incomplete. I give 3 stars because it's not full of grammatical or editing errors and the words do flow ok.
Honestly, I just couldn’t connect with the female lead character. She was whiney, defensive, held grudges against what the guys said upon meeting her when they didn’t hold a grudge against how she acted and spoke at their first meeting. She couldn’t see how they all gravitated towards her. Their need to protect, but she was all, I’m a part of this team, I can do what needs to be done, yet the second things happen out of what was expected, she breaks all the rules and puts herself at risk. She promised her brother she would move in with the guys if he went to Harvard, yet she moved out of their place within the first few chapters. The story held promise but it fell a little flat. Her character didn’t grow much in this book which I was kinda hoping she would. Thankfully they put away the 2 characters that were trying to kill her, yet nothing happened to the father of Martin and Zane. Zane spilled how his dad covered up all the kills of Martin and how he would clean up her murder as well. So there was a few plot holes left open. I don’t think I would read another of this series, if it had this female lead character in it.
I wanted to love this book, I really did. The 1st one was so good, so I had really high hopes but just couldn't finish it. I was annoyed half the time, hoping the next chapter would get better. But now I'm half way through and its not.
The FMC is driving me insane! She is so immature and always whining and saying she can take care of herself, when she clearly can't. I loved the start of the relationship she was building in book 1 and was hoping in book 2 their relationship would blossom even more but its still stuck with her pulling away, not understanding her feelings, ghosting people. It's just to much. She really needs to grow up and I really wanted them all to become stronger together, but its like she's stuck in high school. I just couldn't finish the book. Im over half and she's still all drama and whining and pushing the guys away. Like how long can one person keep doing this. It's old by now. So super disappointed with this book and won't be finishing or reading the next one, which sucks because the 1st book was really good.
Completes duet for these characters. This is a new paranormal world with interesting characters. Magic can lie dormant, and can be stolen or absorbed from dying people. Our 25 year old heroine accidentally absorbs the magic from a dying bypasser which also unlocks her dormant magic. She becomes the center of a unit of magical enforcers and must struggle to learn her skills and deal with the team's abrasive personalities. Meanwhile several folks try to kill her for her magic. Her own personality is that of a wimpy dish rag after being physically abused her entire life by her mother and step father. She allowed it to protect her younger brother. That is just an irritating and unbelievable trope but it pops up all time in this genre. Book two focuses on finding her best friend and developing her harem.
It got two stars because I think I know what the author was trying to do, but they just weren't there. The plot was all over the place, the problems from book one were solved quickly 30% in could have just done it in book one. Then book two could have been devoted to the new problem of her missing friend. That though was thrown in and the solution was so rushed it didn't even make sense. The relationship stuff was so chunky, I think she was going for overprotective a**hole but it just came off as a**holes. There was so much potential for how it could have gone. The writing needs a lot more work, too wordy and formal, I think.
This duo was a good read. Very interesting storyline and setup. I enjoyed the setting, the view of this version of the world created. There is magic, intrigue, nicely developed world. The only reason I rated three stars is unfortunately I did not like the female main character and some of the character relationship development. I wanted her stronger and to gel more with her relationships. She seemed a bit held back and weaker. She was good! I , in my opinion, just wanted more strength from her and didn’t feel as invested in her.
Was really disappointed. I honestly didn’t read everything, I went through it pretty quickly because I just couldn’t waste my time with it… I was hoping FMC would evolve a bit, same for MMCs, but honestly there wasn’t much evolution. Also found it super disappointing that FMC’s brother was so close to her in book 1, that they would’ve done anything for one another, were inseparable, for their relationship to be so distant in book 2 for no apparent reason…
The FMC was really annoying and immature and MMCs were way too rough and controlling for my liking.
To be honest, she got to stuck in the victim cycle. To the point that its annoying. I get this is what happens to some. But I'd rather read about how they overcome it. Which she did. But it took her too long. By the end your just shaking ur head. It got a bit tedious. The storyline itself was decent though.
Ignited Soul-Part 2, the second book of Supernaturals of Ravenfalls series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I halted this read at 58 percent. Some characters are just too stupid to live. After numerous times of getting attacked, our main female character, whose name I already forgot, sets herself up once again. I tried to like her, I really did.
This FMC is the absolute worst. She never listens and constantly says she will follow safety procedures and instantly does not. She gets mad when people care about her and can't see past her own nose. I like the premise of the book, I like the world building, but I hate the FMC. Not worth the read
3.5. I enjoyed this more than the first. Mainly because of the growth Violet has throughout the novel. The boys have some growth. The usual learning how to use words instead of caveman behaviour lol. I’m hoping Daisy gets a book cuz I want to know what’s happening with her in the Fae lands
It was a good, quick read. I liked that the series didn't have any cliff hangers and the storyline seems pretty well thought out. 4 of 5, I look forward to reading more from this author. I would definitely read more of this series/world.
Interesting. Kind of anti climactic for me. She was able to control it one time and that’s it? There’s nothing about using her power to control all three which was the whole point I thought.
It was an ok read. I enjoyed it but it felt kinda rushed. It seems this book kinda set up that the next book will be about her best friend. But it was still a pretty good read.
This book was okay This was a new offer to me in 2024 Continue with the Continue with the series Continue with the series once Second book Came out is there is more in the series, I will Probably continue it, but I won't go This book was okay Any further into her books quite yet
