Part memoir, part self-help, Love Lessons was a truly interesting read that was thought provoking, amusing and ultimately uplifting. While I am not the target audience for this read (if there is one) being married for a long time, I still enjoyed this journey into the world of mid-life singledom, dating failures and successes.

Heidi Friedman had a relatable narrative style, it felt like an easy-to-listen podcast, a conversation with a friend (a wise one). What this author did in her own dating experiences and probing into other couples' successes was conduct a kind of 'research project' into love, what makes it work and what makes it fail. I found the stories and anecdotes funny, cringey and warm.

The final section of the book was an interesting one for all, focusing on 'love lessons learnt'. The author emerged into her own happily ever after and reflected on some of themes that make it continue to work. This section wasn't preachy, it was realistic to the effort needed once you've secured that true love.

I enjoyed my time with this book, it wasn't too heavy or overly idealistic. I think many will relate to these experiences and find solace and hope in the journey.

Thank you to the author for providing a review copy; these are my honest thoughts.

This book is a heartfelt exploration of love, belonging, and the courage to stay open to both. The author's voice is warm, clear, and engaging -- it truly feels like sitting down for an intimate, honest conversation.

Structured in two parts, the book first traces the author's search for love through personal stories and interviews, and then shifts to reflections after she finds the partner she was looking for. That arc makes for a powerful emotional journey, with plenty of insight and inspiration along the way.

What stood out most to me were the themes of community and connection -- love doesn't exist in a vacuum, but grows within a web of support, trust, and mutual care. There are so many lines I highlighted that I'll return to, especially ones I hope to share with friends navigating complicated relationships or transitions.

This book is equal parts memoir and love letter -- with enough depth to prompt self-reflection, and enough heart to leave you smiling at the end. Highly recommend for anyone interested in love in all its forms: romantic, communal, and self-giving.

A MUST Read - no matter where you are in your love journey

I have been happily married for almost 6 years and I devoured this book. It made me laugh out loud, cry (I see you Chapter 17), and remember all the reasons I first fell in love with my husband. It also reminded me the importance of continuing to invest in my marriage, even though we are in the tough years for romance with a 3 year old and a baby on the way.

As the review title says, this a MUST read for anyone looking for love or who has found love and wants to keep it. It will bring you joy and wisdom on both adventures.

In Love Lessons, Friedman shares the results of a research project on finding love, and tells her own relatable (and very funny!) stories of 104 dates before finding love. The advice given is grounded, yet inspiring. This a book to buy and share with everyone you love.

Heidi does a great job of bringing humor to the lessons she learned along her dating journey. I laughed, and cried along the way and love that she interviewed couples that she admired to validate what was important to her as she navigated her dating journey.
