Triple Shot: A Humorous, Action-Adventure Mystery

Rate this book
I’d escaped the chaos of Hollywood for a simpler life—only to realize my biggest stunt yet might be surviving this town.

With her stunt-double career on hold, Whitley “Whit” Leland plans to enjoy the peace and quiet of her grandmother’s charming mountain village. But when someone starts shooting at her, she’s ready to reconsider her life choices.

Between dodging bullets and sidestepping questions about her mysterious family, Whit becomes caught in a tangled web of secrets, spies, and small-town gossip that’s more dangerous than jumping off a ten-story building.

She’ll need to deal with her overprotective grandmother, a handsome writer poking his nose into her business, and her feisty rescue mutt causing havoc to get to the truth. Because if she can’t crack this case soon, the next bullet might actually hit its target—her.

Perfect for fans of fast-paced mysteries with a side of humor, Triple Shot serves up action, intrigue, and plenty of caffeine-fueled thrills.

Whitley Leland is a stunt performer in Hollywood, staying with her Grandmother Bobbie trying to asses if she wants the quiet life now or return to Hollywood. Whit gets a call from her Aunt who wants to speak with her and as she pulls up next to Whit in her limo, shots ring out and the limo takes off, leaving Whitley on the ground. She reports the shots to the police, and doesn't understand who they were for, her or her aunt. When Whit asks her Grandmother, Bobbie about the family, Bobbie ducks the questions and doesn't want to tell Whit. What are the secrets that has someone shooting at her or her Aunt? And what does the handsome writer who keeps popping into her investigating have to do with what secrets the town is keeping and what family secrets her grandmother is keeping from her that could get her killed. There are so many threads to pull that the writer so smoothly pulls with mystery and some laugh out loud moments. This is the third book in the Last Call Crime Club series that is a great addition to the entire series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Whitley and Bobbie get up to all manner of trouble in Triple Shot. I loved it.

The story starts out with a literal bang, as Whitley narrowly avoids getting shot, setting off a series of events that gets ever-more convoluted as the story goes on. We meet new people - good and bad - while developing relationships with others that we've only heard a bit about in the past. KC does a marvelous job of keeping the tale moving while not going so quickly we get lost.

Kit manages to (mostly) stay out of trouble, while Whitley manages to step into it so many times that I lost count.

Great story-telling; cozy murder mystery; some very humorous situations; also deeply touching conversations.

I received an ARC; this is my honest review.

Whitley Leland receives a call from her Aunt Isabella wanting to speak with her but while nearing her car, shots are fired barely missing Whit. Zooming away her aunt is soon gone, leaving Whit wondering if the shots were meant for her or for her aunt. Trying to find family answers from her grandmother, Bobbie, Whit is thwarted at every turn. Bobbie does not want to share family information. When Whit gets caught up in small-town secrets, she becomes a target when those with secrets want them to stay hidden. This fun and entertaining book was a lovely escape where I was able to enjoy my time with Bobbie, Whit and other colorful characters. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Great addition to the series!

Whit and Bobbie, and of course Kit are at it again. From the very beginning with Whit narrowly missing a bullet to the end it's non-stop adventure. We learn more about Whit's past and have new very quirky characters introduced but the story is moved along at a tempo that keeps the reader interested without getting them lost. Throw in some town history and legends for good measure and maybe just a touch of romance! Very enjoyable read.

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Great series (so far)

The characters are well written and interact well with each other. Relationships evolved and dissolved as the stories progressed. The plots are very well written with twists and events that you don't see coming. Whit grows with each new book and I thought she matured as she became more part with the community. Kit the dog is her sidekick and involved also. I really got interested in their stories.

Whitley is used to hearing gunshots as a stunt worker, but not in the middle of the street in the town where she lives. From gunshots, murder, kooky characters and buried treasure, the action never stops in this fun, new book by K C Walker. My thanks to the author for the ARC. This review is my own opinion.

I received this book as an ARC and so glad I did. This series just keeps getting better. With the regular characters and a few more interesting ones introduced, a plot with a twisty twist, loads of drama and a bit of humour and romance thrown in, I was highly entertained from the very beginning until the last page. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Trouble just seems to find Whit, no matter how hard she tried to avoid it. And this time, it comes with a handsome reclusive writer. Attracted? But Whit knows that this is no guarantee that he is a good guy, no matter how sincere and harmless he may look, especially when she finds that he is somehow involved in some pretty suspicious goings on in her small sleepy mountain village.

As always, many laugh out loud moments and several "oops, foot in your mouth again, Whit" moments too but always enjoyable. Good fun read!
