Two-time Reader's Favorite Five Star Read (Bronze Medal Finalist)
This was a sample of seven different books by this author ( included the first book in eack series). Megan is a new to me author and I found this book through Hoopla's bonus reads for January. 55 hours long!
Unfortunately, I really enjoyed only three of the books and will continue these series, as they peaked my interest. The Mark, the vampire/shifter war, and the Rhode stories were my favorites. The rest were good but I feel would have been better if there appeared to be a better future for the characters... some were just too dooms day for me. I get that bad things will happen and people will die but come on! Part of the issue might be these are mostly fairies and fey - which I generally do not enjoy. I prefer fantasy ( think warriors, warlocks, or shifters - paranormal). The ones that I liked leaned more that way.
The character development, the story, fighting/action are all extremely enjoyable.
I am currently listening to this book as an audiobook, and I wonder if I would enjoy it more as a paper book. The story is well-written, interesting, and engaging, and the characters and magic are believable. However, both narrators' voices are distracting, especially the voice of the female protagonist. Her narration is inconsistent and starts out overly formal, with a forced "deepness" that eventually fades from her style, as the book progresses. Although I appreciate clear enunciation, this narrator's style is sometimes overly so, and her style varies between precisely spoken consonants and a casual style (which I prefer and suits the character better). The only issue about the writing that I have encountered is that the main female character uses the word "f...k" regularly, then says "Oh my Gosh", at one point. Um....... I may be nit-picking, but if I read or listen to a book and notice things like this, I'm taken out of the story :-/ I'd be interested to know others' experiences in reading the actual book. Worth reading!

Not worth the read. 3.5 🌟 3rd book. Rhodi’s Light. did have an okay story but either the Narrator annoyed me or the book was too wordy. 4 🌟 4th book. Court of Vampires (The Shifter Prophecy #1) Better narrator .wolves and vampires. Series worthy 3🌟 5th book. Torrent. Half Demon and angel over a girl. 3.5🌟 6th book. Song of Smoke and Fire book 1. Dragon falls in love with his captive.kinda dumb. Teenager would enjoy it. 4🌟 7th book. Kiatana's Journey Creatures of the lands book 1. Unicorns and fairies. Great preteen mythical book.
This was a bonus borrow on hoopla for January, and it looked interesting. This is a collection of 7 books that are the first books in their series. Some of them were better than the others and I would want to continue in the series a bit later. It was a decent introduction to Megan Linski's writing.
Each story has a decent plot, a few twists, and while there are no cliffhangers, they are all left open in some areas for future books. While the stories are interesting I found myself drifting away from the narration quite often.
