Farewell Lilydale Foundation Center… home of our final resting place.

We almost had them. But we should have known they wouldn’t play fair. It was a trap, another twisted game to use us.

As war continues, we’re left with no option but to fight. We can’t afford to give up now.

They fail to realize one thing though. People become dangerous when they have something to lose. And they become downright unhinged when they have nothing left except the promise of revenge.

This is how it ends. Broken savages. Haunted memories. It all comes down to this. We fight for our survival or die trying.

But either way, there’s no turning back now.

In death, we thrive.

Exile is a why choose asylum secret society dark romance. It is book 4 in the Dance With My Demons series and cannot be read as a standalone. "She wanted to save… me. So now, it's only fitting that I should die for her."

Huh, well that was an underwhelming finale. I might be in the minority here but it wasn't as good as the previous three books. I had high hopes for this in all areas but the only thing that was done decently was plot development of the story. I had fun with the humor. And YET there are so many issues I cannot look over. There were so many ups and downs.

Starting with how the inner monologues never seemed to end. About 20% of it was useless and with proper editing it wouldn't have dragged. Secondly, the inconsistency in Avery's character that has been there since book one. Sure, she was more confident in this one but only in her pov. When it came to Damon, Grey and Theo, she just seems like a damsel and mess of a character.

The three mmcs carried the series easily. I'm a Damon girlie and will always be. The possessive bastard just does it for me 😭 The romance was sweet but the spice? WTF, where did the spice go? I was expecting more like the previous three books. I was hoping for all three of them to be with her in the same steamy scene. And yet it wasn't so? Talk about missed opportunities.

The ending was okayish. I don't really mind, it was satisfying but I had already lost interest by the time I got to it. Not my favorite book in the series or finale.

A solid, comforting wrap-up to a series I ended up enjoying far more than I ever expected.

🌹 My Thoughts

Run, little killer. We like to chase our prize before we claim it.

I’ll start by saying I was genuinely happy with the ending.

Exile isn’t the most chaotic or unhinged installment, but it succeeds where it matters most—it brings everything together. It felt quietly healing, and for me, that worked beautifully.

In my own personal hell, I found her. Avery. For the first time, someone saw me as more than their savior. More than a leader and someone to fear. She wanted to save… me. So now, it’s only fitting that I should die for her.

What stood out most was the character growth, especially Avery’s.

She begins the story in pure survival mode, focused solely on getting through each day. By the final book, she’s confident and no longer content with simply enduring.

The men’s development is more subtle but just as meaningful. Grey learns to feel secure, Theo finds where he truly belongs, and Damon finally opens himself up to genuine connection.

In violence and corruption, I found an unexpected peace. An inferno of flames in an otherwise dark abyss—someone to dance with my demons.

By the end, they aren’t just together— they’re a family.

That found-family dynamic absolutely carried it for me. Watching them function as a unit, rather than individuals orbiting Avery, was deeply satisfying. They aren’t just choosing each other—they’re building something stable and lasting.

Lilydale promised to save me, even when I adamantly believed I was beyond salvation.
But in a strange turn of events, I was saved.
By Grey. By Theo. And by Damon.

🎯 Final Take

This book isn’t without flaws.

There’s a lot of inner monologue, and at times it feels repetitive, with certain thoughts revisited more than necessary. I also went in expecting more action and chaos for a finale, but the focus leaned far more into emotional closure.

That said… it worked.

One thing I can say without hesitation: the audiobook elevated the entire experience.

The full-cast duet narration—performed by Marie Hawkins, Corvin King, Joe Arden, and Anthony Palmini—added an incredible amount of emotion and depth. If you’re not listening on audio, you’re truly missing a huge part of what makes it shine.

"Respectfully, shut up. Your husband is fucking you right now." 🤭

Overall, this could’ve easily been condensed into one large book—but even split into four, it remained bingeable, engaging, and surprisingly addictive.

4.5 ⭐️

I started this series not really loving but stayed because I was listening and Corvin King held me there with his Pantie melting voice. The second book I liked, the third I loved and the fourth I DEVOURED!!! I went from thinking was eh to thinking OMG I LOVE THIS SERIES ! Hahahahhaah
I started in love with Grey then slow to also liked Theo and I ended with Damon being my favorite. That’s when you know the why choose is good, because you like them all and nobody annoys you. All 3 guys are the best, Grey and Damon’s bromance was amazing and also Theo and Grey banter was amazing.
Avery is a great female character. The fact that takes place in a mental institution only adds to the loving factor for me. The plot is great and I don’t want to say anything else so I won’t accidentally spoil.

This story was fun but by the time I got to the last book the story just became even more crazy and I just couldn’t take it seriously 😭🫣🤭 sometimes with dark romance I just end up cringing and that happened a lot for me with this last book. That being said I’m happy I finished the series and the first few were so fun and bingeable!! I will definitely check out more of Steph Macca’s books

It seriously pains me to say this, but I did not love this book. I absolutely loved the first three and don’t regret reading them, but this one was very lackluster for me. Definitely should have ended this with 3 books instead of trying to extend to 4.

Lilydale promised to save me, even when I adamantly believed I was beyond salvation. But in a strange turn of events, I was saved. By Grey. By Theo. And by Damon.

In violence and corruption, I found an unexpected peace. An inferno of flames in an otherwise dark abyss—someone to dance with my demons.

We left off with Avery discovering she’s been joined to Damon in a more legal way. Before they can celebrate, a gun goes off and the hallway erupts into chaos, with Theo and Grey leading the charge. Our group discovers that Avery isn’t the only test subject, a rescue mission is started, Avery signs more papers, a few sexy times, a change of location, and eventually a HEA.

I never thought that even one person could love me—all of me, broken shards and fragments—but they did. …..The four of us together, we fit. Four broken pieces with jagged edges, sharp enough to cut, but somehow, we piece together perfectly.

SEX: The sex was so good in the last one, this one left me feeling unsatisfied. For me, a reverse harem isn’t worth its name if the FMC isn’t taking all three at the same time. We get one scene with both front and rear entrances plugged at the same time. Then we get one scene with all of them together, except they take turns. Another thing that irritated me was nearly every single sex scene ended with something like, "he shoots his release in me". That was very disappointing. I wanted dirtier details.

MONOLOGUE: I’m willing to say at least 80% of this book was internal monologue. There’s very little conversation between the actual characters. That’s probably the biggest reason I found this book so slow and a little boring.

BANG: I expected a bigger bang, this was more of a fizzle. This will be a spoiler, so please don’t read it. I just need to vent on it. I just needed more. I also thought the ending was meh.

Somewhere along the line, I fell head over heels for these three guys, accepting it completely……Like each part fits together to make one piece. Maybe I was too broken, in many pieces that I needed more than one part to be put back together.

FAMILY TREE: You know how I feel about keeping a list of characters. There is a list of characters with general information, and then a list in the spoilers that has info you won’t discover until you read this book. I’m putting this here for me because when Book 4 comes out, I want to be able to say “oh, yes. I remember who that person is.”

3.75 ⭐️ Not a bad ending for the final instalment. By this point, though, we’re four books deep and it did feel a little drawn out, almost like we were covering old ground again at the start, especially once the cliff-hanger from book three was dealt with. I definitely found myself thinking, yep, let’s wrap this up now.

The audio has been brilliant throughout the whole series and was what definitely kept me engaged. FMC Avery really comes into her own in this last book, taking absolutely no shit from anyone to protect her men. The revenge ramps up, there’s a rescue mission, and everything pulls together to finally give the four of them that long awaited HEA, complete with healing, a fresh start, and the whole big family vibe: husband, wife, and boyfriends in law 😁.

Overall, not bad. It probably could have been a trilogy, or even a duet, and I’d definitely recommend listening rather than reading. There’s more to come from this universe, so I’ll keep an eye out to see who gets a story next. That’s it.🖤

ARC Review - Oh my god. I am unwell. The last book of the Dancing with my Demons series. It was so good. Chefs kiss. No notes. This was the perfect way to end it and honestly so sad to finish it. The story flowed perfectly, the turn of the events in the story just made it so much more worth it. I will be doing a re-read of the series as soon as the audiobook comes out because those are just perfect. Easily, a top series in 2025 I have read.

And that’s a wrap! Overall, I absolutely loved this series. The ending had me tearing up, and I was so emotional seeing everyone finally get the ending they truly deserved after everything they went through. I felt really connected to these characters, so saying goodbye was bittersweet. This series is definitely worth the read in my opinion, and I loved every moment of it.

A closure wrapped in fire.

It’s heartbreaking, cathartic and somehow beautiful in its ruin.

Characters and Plot Dynamics

Exile, the final installment in Steph Macca’s series, brings Avery White and the three men bound to her into the final stretch of their war against the Lilydale Foundation. The emotional core remains firmly centered on Avery, who has transformed from a traumatized and heavily controlled young woman into someone who understands her own power. Her scars are still present, but she no longer lets them define her. Instead, she confronts the people who shaped her life and begins to claim a future that belongs to her.

Damon Emerson Dale’s arc carries particular weight in this conclusion. His upbringing in a world of privilege and manipulation has shaped him into someone who once relied on control as a survival tactic. By this book, he has shifted into a man willing to risk everything for Avery and for the life they are building together. Grey Hawthorne, Damon’s fiercely loyal enforcer, continues to evolve from a violent loner into someone who finally believes he deserves stability and connection. Theo Ashwood, often the most emotionally open of the trio, steps more fully into his own identity. His humor and warmth remain, but Exile gives him space to be more than the group’s emotional buffer. Together, the four form a bond built on survival, trust, and shared trauma, and that bond becomes the backbone of the story.

The plot launches directly from the chaos of the previous book. The group discovers they have been manipulated yet again by the Foundation’s leadership, and the conflict shifts from covert resistance to open war. The Lilydale Foundation is revealed as a corrupt institution built on exploitation and experimentation, and the characters are thrust into increasingly dangerous situations as they work to dismantle it. Betrayals, shifting alliances, and escalating violence push the group to their limits, forcing them to decide how far they are willing to go to destroy the system that created their suffering.

Exile ties together the emotional arcs of the characters and the overarching conflict with the Foundation. Damon’s father, whose motivations are rooted in greed and control, becomes a central figure in the final confrontation. His desire to imprison his own son in order to steal his trust fund adds a personal and unsettling layer to the conflict. The story blends high stakes with the intense relationship dynamics that define the series, closing the narrative with themes of survival, found family, and the long shadow of trauma.

Highlights

• The conclusion delivers a satisfying sense of closure. Avery, Damon, Grey, and Theo each reach emotional endpoints that feel earned, especially after the darkness and upheaval they have endured. The found family aspect of the reverse harem dynamic shines here.
• Avery’s growth stands out. She becomes more confident and proactive, stepping into her role as a leader rather than reacting to the chaos around her. Her evolution grounds the story even when the action becomes intense.
• The tone remains consistent with the rest of the series. High stakes, dark themes, and explosive conflict keep the tension sharp and the pacing brisk.
• The balance of spice and plot is well handled. The intimacy enhances the emotional stakes without overshadowing the larger storyline about the asylum and the characters’ psychological journeys.

Drawbacks

• While the pacing is strong overall, the ending feels rushed compared to the steady buildup of the earlier books. The emotional and plot resolutions could have benefited from a bit more breathing room.
• Some repetition of thoughts and emotions appears throughout the series. It is not overwhelming, but it is noticeable. The storyline involving Damon’s father also stretches believability at times, particularly the extent of his influence and the ease with which he manipulates the justice system.

Narration

The full cast duet narration elevates the emotional impact of the story. Marie Hawkins brings nuance to Avery’s blend of fragility and strength. Joe Arden and Corvin King deliver intense, grounded performances, while Anthony Palmini adds a softer but resonant presence. The duet format creates a cinematic feel that enhances the tension and intimacy. Pairing the audiobook with Kindle Unlimited’s immersive reading option adds even more depth to the experience.

Final Opinion

Exile is a gripping and emotionally charged finale that brings the series to a powerful close. The character arcs land with satisfying weight, the relationships deepen in meaningful ways, and the central conflict reaches a dramatic and cathartic resolution. While a few elements feel rushed or stretched, the overall experience is compelling, dark, and emotionally rich. It is a strong finish for readers who appreciate trauma healing arcs, found family dynamics, and reverse harem stories that balance intensity with heart.

Quotes

“If there’s anything rich people hate more than poor people, it’s having to spend too much money.”

“What we have is unique, consensual, and customized to suit our individual relationships with her. She wears my ink and marks on her skin, I wear her on my dick. And she has my little black bleeding heart in her hands. That's all that matters.”

“Our monsters don't deserve our pain. And they sure as fuck don't deserve our tears. The greatest revenge is living…”

“In violence and corruption, I found an unexpected peace. An inferno of flames in an otherwise dark abyss—someone to dance with my demons.”

“At least you'll have some gossip to report back to Whittingham later when you braid each other's pubes.”

”I guess Whittingham was right about one thing — Lilydale did save me. It was just in the form of three unhinged psychos.”

We’ve come to the fourth and final installment of the Dance with my Demons Trilogy and I was left starstruck, speechless, awed and fulfilled.

We’re facing the toughest battles and the darkest demons in this book and Avery is the piece to either save it all or destroy it all. The stakes have never been higher and everyone is at risk of being killed. Our four core have never been more precise with their strategy than this book.

In the end Avery, Damon, Theo and Grey risk it all and bare their souls. This had me so conflicted in emotions and on the edge of my seat as Alexander finally reveals the man behind the mask. We already knew he was evil though🙃.

I’m sad to see that it’s over, but can’t wait to see what Steph writes next.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I listened to the audiobooks for the whole series and I absolutely loved the ending so much 🥹
Sometimes the endings in some books feel so rushed but this gave me so much closure and happiness!

I loved all of the characters and the author did an amazing job at making all of men in Avery’s life so different yet all so similar with their dominating demeanour 🫶

It was not just the men that were so unhinged though, because Avery also became this confident person who would do anything to protect what is hers.

Although this book certainly had a lot of 🌶️ it did not take away from the plot twist at all! The was always something happening and I did not see some of it coming!

I strongly recommend you listened to the audiobooks because those voices 🥵

woohoo we finally finished the series! I think … you know what we closed the series off with a bang. I’m a sucker for epilogues especially when it gets a glimpse of a life where they don’t have to worry about problems they were facing throughout the series and they finally get to relax. Plus I did like the development in the relationship but the plot was kinda boring tbh. I do love the prison trope tho so alas I did stay to the end

a little too sappy and with an annoying plot hole

I loved the first 3 books, absolutely adored them. It didn’t hurt that I had them in my head as audiobooks. I mean, while the spice was hella spicy, the plot was actually really good. Captivating.

So you can’t imagine my disappointment from this one. The spice feels like it has somehow fizzled and the plot is full of some (mainly one) frustrating and annoying hole: SHE DIDNT HAVE TO SIGN.

I’m not gonna say anything beyond that to keep the spoilers to a minimum, but the part had me seeing red. I don’t think I’ve ever been this pissed about a stupid plot hole as I was over this one.

And then add the internalised misogyny in this book as the big protective strong he-men make the decisions for the delicate little she-flower and protect her like strong guard dogs grrrrr… yeah, it got a bit triggering.

Sappy ending with major happy, happy, happy! vibes. Admittedly, had me smiling while frowning - I really wanted one last full trio spice scene in their new house bringing up the end, but… I guess this book was a little full of disappointments for me.. oh well.

The plot is really all over the place with this series and not well developed. You read this series for the smut but after a while it all seems the same and even vanilla… finger b@ng and p3net@tive. Yes, the smut got boring.

I believe the younger characters/patients are all in their early 20s. However, Damon, Grey, Theo and Avery and their friends behave like young teenagers thinking they are all that by forming a secret society to overthrow the adults. Of course, they are always outmaneuvered by Alexander, Arthur and the Doctors time and time again. The best they can do is break things to cause trouble and then they get “detention” in the form of solitary confinement. Avery gets isolated and kidnapped by Alexander time and time again. Finally, we get change in this book in the form of deaths!!! Ultimately, that is how they solve their adult problems.

Overall, this is a mediocre RH. The highlight is the narrators.

I don’t know what the author put in this series to get me so hooked but gosh it was so addictive and fast paced.

Yes, it wasn’t the best when it came to writing and the plot was similar to other RH that I’ve read but the characters had me hanging and completely mesmerised and immersed. Theo was my fav out of Avery’s harem but the other two weren’t that far behind. They were all unhinged, completely psychotic and deranged, and I ate them all up! Easy and digestible!

I believe the audiobooks with the multi-narrators/duet style elevated the story, the characters and the atmosphere ten fold. I mean, they had me by the throat and I relished it all. Can’t wait to see if this authors other series’ are just as good.

I'm seriously hooked on Theo and Grey! They've redefined the whole "brothers in law" thing (or should I say "brothermates" and taken it to a whole new level. Their banter never fails to crack me up, and their dynamic is just chef's kiss. I can't get enough of them.

This book had so many moments that made me swoon. Like when they all pulled out their rings, promising to be together forever. And when Damon finally got his revenge for what happened to his mom, I balled my eyes out. Seeing them all living together in Damon's house, living their best lives, was just the cherry on top. And that memorial wall with all the pictures of those they lost? Seriously touching. Plus, when Grey got justice for Avery's assaulter, perfection. But the absolute best was when they transformed that twisted asylum into a sanctuary where victims could actually find help and healing. Not being forced into anything they’re uncomfortable with.

And that final scene in the morgue? Shivers! Unforgettable!

I'm completely obsessed with this series. I'm already crossing my fingers that we get to see more of them in the future because I'm already feeling the withdrawal!

What a great way to wrap up this series! Steph Macca gave me a brief heart attack with how Ravage ended but I loved being reunited with all my boys... yes, it's me. I'm Avery

If you though the story would not continue developing into an absolute shit show then you are mistaken! Alexander threw new challenges their way - the crew did not have it easy but they prevailed!

Avery's character development? Loved it! She finally learns to accept and embrace her broken bits. I mean, she had an excellent support system. I am also so happy with one side character's well deserved redemption.

While some may think the ending could have been rushed, IMO, Alexander and everyone else got what they deserved and I would have hated if Steph would have spent more time on them.

In the end, the series and story is about them: Avery, Grey, Theo & Damon.

And you'd think the spice couldn't get any better... my dudes, it did!

I received the opportunity to listen to the audiobook for this book and wow it has been amazing but it’s that bittersweet feeling now knowing the series is over. I’ve absolutely loved all of the books in the series and thought this last book tied everything together so well

5⭐️series!
I did all of them on audio and I am so glad that I did because everything about the narrators just made the story that much better. With each book it got more and more on edge and in a chokehold. The character development was amazing. Watching each of them grow was perfect! The spice was 🥵🥵🥵 my baby Damon.. idk if I loved him the most because of how he was so dark and broody and didn’t want anything to do with Avery in the beginning or if it was because it was Joe Arden’s voice 😍 love it all, now I need the trophies on my shelves 😂

DNF......Just yuck I really liked the first 3 books but this one was infuriating, just one stupid decision after another, the flash backs should have happened in the first book, the tough girl act should have waited for the end , cause the this meek thing is a joke, if she doesn't have one of her guys around she is a noodle, she gives the bad guy the keys to the city, and what does she say " you got this" like Damon didn't have the weight of the world on his shoulders, his reaction was ridiculous, she gave away all his hard work but its ok as long as she is alive and becomes a bigger liability, because she chose to live this wonderful life, were they are always one two steps behind the villains, rather then die and leave it all to Damon, but that's not what she has been saying through all the other books? She was trying to jump in front of bullets to save her guys. What a disappointing conclusion to what started as a great series, Stopped reading at 60%.. I was to fuckin annoyed to keep reading.😤

Dark, twisted, and unhinged in the best way possible — Exile gave me everything I wanted and more.

From the very start, I fell for Theo’s quiet, brooding intensity, while Grey brought in a lighter balance that I adored. And Damon? Strong, protective, and such a grounding presence. The dynamic between them all had me hooked.

But what really stood out to me was Avery. Following her through this series and watching her growth, healing, and resilience has been such a rewarding journey. I loved seeing her come into her own.

On top of all that, the found family vibe was everything, and the spice? Absolutely delivered.

This series has been such a ride, and Exile was the perfect conclusion — insane, emotional, and unforgettable.

✨ Huge thank you to Steph Macca for the ARC — all thoughts are my honest opinion.
