Wow! What an ending. This was the perfect ending to an amazing story and I’m honestly a little sad to say goodbye to Ryan and Sienna. And who could forget Aedan and Naimh.

I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down. (Literally spent today just engrossed in this book)There were moments throughout where my heart was in my throat and I thought it wasn’t going to go where I wanted it to BUT it all worked out perfectly 🥰 (sorry not giving anything away, you’ll have to go read it 😉)

Vera you had my stomach in knots with this one (in the best way) and I’m not gonna lie, I kinda wanted to slap Aedan a few times but I still love him!

I always say it but Vera has done an amazing job with the historical aspects of this story and has really brought the history of Ireland to life. It makes me want to delve deeper into my history.

This series has had me gripped from the beginning and Vera has become my favourite historical romance author. If you haven’t read this series yet PLEASE do! You won’t be disappointed.

Thank you Vera for the arc copy of this book and I cannot wait to read more from you.

What a fitting end for a series of such scope and magnitude. This truly is an epic story that will leave you breathless. There is such depth of emotion throughout that I found myself literally on the edge of my seat, flying to the uttermost heights of love and happiness, only to be dashed among the rocks of fear, anguish, betrayal and loss. This book will definitely take you through the gamut of every single emotion there is, but I can guarantee you will love every single minute of the ride. In this author's capable hands, you can be assured of a thrilling historical read that puts you right in the middle of the action, that makes you feel as if you were actually living these character's lives right along with them, and you can know with certainty that every word is as true to history as it can possibly be.

From the opening pages, to the final bittersweet moments, I was fully immersed in this world and never wanted to let go. There is such a beauty to the writing that it just effortlessly pulls you along, as only the very best storytellers can. This series is definitely a journey, one to which I'm sure I'll return again, as I'm finding it very hard to want to let go of these people and their stories. However, my heart is glad because this author has many more adventures in store and you can bet I'll be there for whatever she has planned. This book was beyond excellent.

Always and Forever, a historical romance with the magical element of time travel is perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon and Lynn Kurland. In fact, if you have ANY historical romance in your library, I beg you to add this series, you will not be disappointed.

In this, the third in the series, we bounced back and force between 1566, Ulster, Ireland and 2013, Miami, Florida. What I commend the author on most is the seamless transition from location and time to the next, this book moves so fluid, it all makes so much sense.

I went into the first two blind and recommend it, the story line is perfect for lovers of:
Time travel
Historical drama
Edge of your seat suspense (like literally, I was reading straight up in bed one night!)
Bittersweet moments that wrench your heart out of your chest.

I thank Vera Bell for this ARC, it released YESTERDAY March 4th and I recommend to all my romance lovers- start from the beginning, these books are an amazing addition to your library!

I was blown away by the love, struggle, angst and intrigue in both timelines of this epic romance. This truly is a fitting ending to this engaging trilogy.

Neave, Aeden, Siena and Ryan.
I got to know these protagonists in the previous books and I was routing for them all. With the cast of supporting characters and their counterparts in the other timeline exhibiting similar characteristics, the narrative is driven in both historical and modern ways and a wonderful story is told.

"His love flared throughout me like wildfire. My love flowed into him and shined in his eyes. We mingled and merged, glowing like a lightning blaze. Together. Reaching for the sky, where our names were old and new. And our eyes were shining stars. Centuries collided into this moment, suspended in time and space, spilling into an unknown future."

With prose like this how can I not love this author? Her first three books have all been beautifully written and extremely engaging.

I read and loved the first two in this series and eagerly waited for this last one, but it surpassed even my expectations. I have one thing to say to the author: in your intro you asked the readers to hang with you till the end… that comment wasn’t needed as I was with you from the first word until the last. This is by far one of the best trilogies I have ever read.

This was such an interesting story. I love books that have past lives. This past life is brought into the future by visions for both characters. I loved seeing how Siena got the visions and found truth in them with aspects of her and Ryan's life now. I did not read the books previously published from this series but I absolutely loved this book and had no trouble with understanding and enjoying this book. I definitely plan to read the first two in this series.

You’d better do right by me, my heart.”

What an incredible conclusion to the Always and Forever trilogy! I laughed, I teared up, I was on the verge of a panic attack... it was amazing! Read books 1 and 2 first! *I am honored to have received this complimentary ARC from the author. This review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

I wrote this in my review for book two, but I still find myself impressed by Bell’s ability to seamlessly transition from the 1500s to the 2000s. The way she can switch from poetic 16th century Irish language to modern day English is astounding. Because of this, you feel positively immersed in each setting.

I thought it was really cool that we got to spend some time with Ryan's family. The characters are so well written, you feel their emotions with them. I got so anxious at one point I almost wanted to skip to the end just to find out what happened so I could breathe! I'm glad I didn't. The ride was worth it! I love all 4 of the main characters and they will likely live rent free in my head for a long while after finishing this series.

I have followed this trilogy from the beginning.

A wonderful story and the wordsmithing is great. The author has vivid and descriptive details about the buildings, and scenery, and evokes emotions in the reader so they feel the love, heartbreak, desperation, and fear.

I look forward to reading more books written by this author.

All good things must come to an end and I really do hate it when a great story ends. Siena is still dreaming of the past and is convinced that it has to do with Ryan’s job. With her dreams getting worse she is in fear constantly.
Oh how this will test the faith and strength of Siena and Ryan’s love for each other and then Ryan’s love for his job.
What a great ending, finished fantastically.
I absolutely loved the trilogy and am truly sad that it’s over.
Read them all! You won’t regret it!

It took me a while to read this since I knew it was the last of the series, and I knew it would rip my heart out like the first two books. And, it did. I did enjoy the first two books a little more than this one, but I still highly recommend this series!

A little over 18 months ago I was asked to review the first book in this series, “Through the Veneer of Time,” and I adored it. It was incredibly well-written and appealed to readers not only of the romance genre but also to those who would enjoy a bit of history or a riveting mystery. Although I was not lucky enough to review the second in the series, I did buy a copy and read it because I just had to know what was going to happen. I have no doubt other fans of the series felt the same. Now I am back with the third book in the series, “Beneath the Shadow of Time,” and I can only say that Ms. Bell has surpassed herself with this new tale.

As always, the reader is given a back-and-forth look between the times and locations of the two couples that star in the storyline. In Ireland in 1566, Neave and Aedan continued their quest to rid Ireland of the rule of the English and the evil Queen Elizabeth. Neave is terrified as there is now a huge bounty on her husband, but Aedan will not back down in his attempt to free his homeland.

As Aedan reaches out to others for help, they both quickly find that evil is everywhere around them and there is no way to know who is actually a friend and ally and who is not. While Neave stands by her husband as she lives with the horror that she may lose the love of her life, Aedan refuses to back down and can only pray that there is a way to keep his promises to Neave without losing everything, including his life.

On the other side of the coin (or world as the case may be), we are in Miami, Florida in the present day following the lives of Siena and her husband Ryan. As Ryan, an agent with the FBI, tackles his most dangerous case, his wife finds out the horrible truth about it and begs him to quit. She has discovered the huge and real danger of the case and must attempt to deal with the fact that Ryan may not live through this one. That is not something Siena is willing or able to do.

Ryan is not one to give up and quit and so he refuses her requests and chooses to deal with the issues later, after he has succeeded. Unfortunately for Ryan, this choice may cost him not only his life but his marriage, especially when he is taken prisoner. Will these two couples, connected in so many ways, be able to survive the biggest fights of their lives or will everything end in tragedy on both sides?

“Beneath the Shadow of Time” is a captivating end to this series that offers readers so many twists and turns. As always, the writing is beautiful and flawless, and the storyline is such a creative one that I cannot say enough good things about this author. Truly, this is a book, actually an entire series, which will mesmerize readers as they turn the pages. You will not be able to put it down, at least I know I could not do so. Of all the aspects of the story, the characters are the most marvelous part. Each of these couples fits together perfectly and it is beautiful to see the connections between two certain people in their own time and space as well as the connections between all four of them spread out over so much time. The complexity of the two different plots as well as the emotions of the characters is an amazing accomplishment for Vera Bell and a true gift to her readers.

I do have to say to everyone out there that you should definitely read all of the books in order rather than just beginning with “Beneath the Shadow of Time” because this is a story that evolves over time. As a reader, you will do yourself a serious injustice if you do not have the entire picture. That would be truly sad for those who want to dig into an amazing story of romance, history, time travel, and mystery such as the Always and Forever Trilogy. I cannot express on paper how much I recommend “Beneath the Shadow of Time” and the entire series by Vera Bell. Definitely 5 stars (and I wish it could be more)!!

In Through the Veneer of Time and Into the Lure of Time, readers came to know Neave and Aedan O’Neal and their modern counterparts Siena and Ryan Casey. Through past life regression, Siena experiences Neave’s story in 16th-century Ireland, her joys and tragedies, her trauma and resilience, and her love and hatred. Their love transcends time and distance, but not without immense cost in both the past and present. In Vera Bell’s latest and last novel of the Always Forever trilogy, Beneath the Shadow of Time, Neave and Aedan hurtle towards an indescribable end while Siena and Ryan seek to salvage their relationship amidst the latter’s dangerous and potentially disastrous mission.

In early modern Ulster, Queen Elizabeth has placed a bounty of ten thousand pounds on Aedan’s head. The bounty terrifies Neave, who worries disgruntled or ambitious nobles will turn on their king. Aedan, however, is unfazed. More determined than ever to assert his authority, he allies himself with the Antrim Scots to bolster his support. Although Aedan tries to calm Neave’s fears, she’s convinced he’s heading for a betrayal of the worst kind. These differing opinions forge a chasm between king and queen. When events shatter their world, Aedan vows to Neave, “I’ll do right by you.” Can he fulfill this vow?

In the present, Ryan's job takes the Caseys to Miami where he's caught up in a case involving a violent cartel. As the past and present coalesce, Siena learns of Aedan's and Neave's fates and is paralyzed with fear. Ryan puts it in the back of his mind as the case escalates, culminating in the cartel taking him hostage. Will history repeat itself? Or will Ryan keep his vow and the pair finally find happiness?

Beneath the Shadow of Time represents Vera Bell at her very best. She pulls readers into her protagonists’ worlds with her complex and vibrant storytelling, building a vivid world of danger, suspense, high stakes, and intense emotion.

Symbolism plays an integral role in Beneath the Shadow of Time. Readers should keep an eye out for recurrent imagery as these can portend the future as the novel progresses and/or open new insights into the book's characters. Additionally, the vow “I'll do right by you” and the series’ title Always and Forever resonate with each interwoven plot thread. All add depth to an already deeply immersive story.

Beyond the intricate plot and breathtaking pace, Vera also infuses the novel with historical research. Vera frames the historical narrative of Beneath from the life of Irish chieftain Shane O’Neill and his relations with his fellow Irishmen, Queen Elizabeth, and even Mary, Queen of Scots. From the language to clothing and inheritance practices and key events, Vera authentically brings to life 16th-century Ireland. I particularly enjoyed her characterization of Queen Mary as an intelligent and calculating queen regnant who knew the perilous position she found herself in.

The blending of historical narrative, time travel elements, and romance, replete with masterful wordsmithing, make Beneath the Shadow of Time a true crowning achievement for the Always and Forever series. I strongly suspect readers will both lament and celebrate the book’s triumphal ending (and alternate ending!) but should also find satisfaction in knowing they can escape into this world time and again.

Thank you so much to Vera for the chance to experience Beneath both as a beta reader and an ARC reader! This review was left voluntarily.

Always and Forever by Vera Bell
(A trilogy of: bk 1- Through the Veneer of Time, Bk2- Into the Lure of Time, Bk3- Beneath the Shadow of Time)
This story set in Ireland in 1559 where  a young Neave McConway marries the new King of Tyrone, Aedan. The story becomes one of terror as Neave’s new husband leaves to fight his enemies and his young wife becomes the victim of a brutal attack that changes both of their lives.  Jump to the year 2009  in Washington, D.C.  artist Siena Fort tries to deal with a severe case of artist’s block, and her husband Ryan, an FBI agent is trying to stop a serial killer in one of the most difficult cases of his career.
Their lives collide when Siena begins to research the topic of Past Life Regression, and while the research leads to new inspiration for the artist, it also changes her entire life as she learns the meaning behind her visions of a past life, opening herself up to horrors that occurred long ago. Not only is Siena now in a lot of danger but Ryan will never be able to solve his own case until past vows of revenge are dealt with.  In parallel storylines, Siena and Neave must come to terms with their past, present, and future.
Characters:  Siena and Ryan are Neave and Aedan in the future.  In both past and present, they are generally nicely developed and interesting.
With a few exceptions:  one too many sex scenes which did nothing for the plot ..  though maybe I've become a bit jaded about that, having read through a lot of it over time.
They keep repeating the same mistakes time and again,  and their insecurity over what their husbands did got a little old... however that does provide the opportunity to right their wrongs and overcome their internal demons.   The author psychologically explores Siena and Neave's motivations and flaws making both women feel  very real to me.
There is detailed violence, rape, coma, and while intricate to parts of both storylines, it may be off-putting to some readers.  I felt a realistic but also empathetic portrayal of sexual assault-related PTSD and how it can affect both platonic and romantic relationships. I was happy that there is no victim-blaming - a real pet-peeve that some authors use.
The world-building  in both Ireland & Washington D.C. come to life, and they feel both otherworldly and tangible at the same time. I really enjoyed the author's historical narrative of Irish chieftain Shane O’Neill and his relations with his fellow Irishmen, as well as Queen Elizabeth and Mary, Queen of Scots.  But then I will usually lean more for the history over the romance.
The plot is quite intricate-  how the author kept everything together weaving back and forth was impressive.  I found myself flipping back to re-read parts to be sure I wasn't skipping over some of the details that blended the timeline- I wasn't.  All in all an enjoyable read.

I love Sie and Ryan/ Neave and Aedan 's relationship!!
Despite their adrenaline hungry husbands,Sie and Neave both tried their best to keep their husbands safe.Neave tried to drug Aedan to kidnap him to the new world ,where we vould not go to war that easily or die trying.Sie also tried her best to beg Ryan to quit his job as an FBI agent after learning about how dangerous his mission was .
Knowing how frightened their wives were.Aedan and Ryan both tried to talk to their wives about it.When they were in a sticky situation, they hoped not to die to give their wives a good life , with a husband and a father to their children.Theu did not care about their own feelings about death, and only wished that they would stay alive for their wives!!!
Despite Liam's obsession with Sie,he was genuinely a good brother. He cried when Ryan was in trouble, and prayed that his brother would "come home"! He was a good person and I'm glad he got over his obsession in the end !
I love this book the most in the series because of all the povs! We got to see Jason,Emma 's pov on the 'incident' and how much they cared for their best friends!Jason and Emma where there when Ryan and Sie where on the verge on collapsing, and helped them back out the void. The second leads are always the best!
Also, unlike the 1&2 books, the story development shifts. They are no longer "the same" or similar as the mcs come to different endings.I like how this shows that the past doesn't defy your future and that you can change fate if you tried hard enough
After reading the historical note, I'm glad Vera kept Aedan's fate as in the historical books like Shane's.
"His death marked the end of the most significant Irish challenges to English rule during the Tudor era.And in part, made him the legend he is." I 100% agree with this
That being said,I also enjoyed the alternate ending provided!

Beneath the Shadow of Time is the third and last book in Vera Bell's Always and Forever trilogy. This series was one of the first arcs I read, and for that reason, it is special to me. I was happy to return to the stories of Neave, Aeden, Sienna, and Ryan.

In both timelines, Neave/ Sienna got on my nerves with their insecurity over what their husband did. In both cases, the anxiety is understandable, I just found it repetitive and it took too long to get the action of the story. Aeden/Ryan's reaction to the anxiety seemed extreme and I thought it was a little unrealistic. I didn't like what was going on with his brother either. At times these moments felt like I was reading a soap opera

I would have liked to have more of a story involving Ryan's FBI case, I wanted more information on that.

I like the history in the Irish timeline involving Mary Queen of Scots and would have liked to see more of that story.

The ending was meaningful and appropriate and tied up all the loose ends in both stories. I felt like the modern timeline fixed the mistakes that they made in the past.

This series is different and a bit of a trip at times but worth the read.

With Vera Bell you can always count on the unexpected! In my opinion her writing is much better than average for this genre of historical romance novels. It got to the point where I read a few chapters of a book and put it aside due to flat, boring characters, to the predictable storyline whose pinnacle is a sex scene, etc. Not so with Vera Bell's writing. Her narrative is interesting, the storyline is unpredictable with twists and turns, characters are multi-faceted, and her language is so vivid, totally amercing me in the story. Once I began reading, I could not put it down. I also want to comment about the ending. So many authors, even the great ones, can't deliver a great ending. I was so happy that this author had a magnificent ending. It was seriously epic! It stayed with me for days.

What a wonderful and fitting end for this epic trilogy filled with romance and suspense! I am so sad to say goodbye to Ryan and Siena and Aedan and Neave. This book kept me on my toes throughout, and I effortlessly felt all of the emotions right alongside the characters during my reading. This story from beginning to end has been a wonderful representation of historical fictional romance and leaves me yearning for more. The parallels between the two timelines beautifully tie everything together and truly keep you engrossed as the plot develops.
I am so thankful to have received an ARC of this trilogy and will definitely be returning to re-read again and again. Thank you Vera Bell, and for everyone else, if you haven’t read this yet or are on the edge about picking up a copy, please do!! You won’t regret it!

Beneath the Shadow of Time by Vera Bell was such a captivating read. I’ve always been fascinated by stories involving past lives, and this book weaves that theme beautifully through visions experienced by both Siena and Ryan. Watching how their memories from the past intertwine with their present lives made for a truly compelling story.

As an Irish reader, I especially enjoyed the inclusion of Gaeilge in the narrative. It added a rich cultural depth and made the Irish setting feel authentic and vibrant, which really enhanced my connection to the story.

Though I haven’t read the earlier books in the series, this one stood perfectly well on its own. It was easy to follow and deeply engaging. I’m definitely looking forward to going back and reading the first two books. This novel is a wonderful blend of mystery, romance, and Irish magic.

This series is not for the feint hearted. Neave and Aedan go through so many troubles and trials but always seem to make it back to each other. There are some parts where I could just stop reading because Aedan was being a typical man but those of us that are married learn to push through their stupidity. But Sie and Ryan took their past trying to catch up with them in strides. Sie and Ryan are Neave and Aedan in the future. The storyline was amazing and the love of their country and partners was right on point. Definitely a binge worthy read.

The final book in the series closed a lot of loops and saw the 2 romances in the alternative timeliness reach closure. I would have rated this a little bit higher, if Neave and Siena were not suddenly so scared and all the time. The connections between A+N and R+S have become stronger with vivid dreams and fortellings. The one thing I did like was the ending to A/N story, very realistic but also made me cry.

Overall a good finish to an epic saga.

Had the opportunity to Beta Read this one. I really enjoyed it, just as much as I did the first two. I love the characters and a little sad that this is the last one in the series. You will find that this one is a little different then the first two, as we get to hear from Ryan's point a view throughout this book.

The 3rd book in Vera Bell's fantastic trilogy brings this epic tale of love and strife to a conclusion. Read this book, (read this series!), and be transported into Ireland of the past through the eyes of a modern-day American couple. The parallels between the historical lovers and their modern, reincarnated counterparts leave you on the edge of your seat - and wanting more!

Beneath the Shadow of Time is the third and final book in the Always and Forever Trilogy. I haven't read the first two and despite the huge cast of characters with unusual names it didn't take long to get into the story. The plot is intriguing and moves at a great pace. Vera Bell did a great job of keeping a reader turning pages. This story has a lot action.
