It focuses on the brilliant, sophisticated, and subversively clever Ingram while following his life, and that of the radio station, through more than two decades of dominance over the New York area airwaves. More than just a "music" book, Hey Kemosabe! is based on the remembrances of Ingram and other characters, drawn from interviews by the author, former CBS News writer Chris Ingram (who is also Big Dan's son).
WABC and its beloved cast of characters provided the mortar that helped hold us all together during a turbulent era-from the arrival of the Beatles through national tragedies like the Kennedy and King assassinations; from the rise of disco, FM, and talk radio to the murder of John Lennon. Chris Ingram grew up with a rare view of the advent, heyday, and demise of personality based rock-and-roll radio. The son of radio legend Big Dan Ingram, he had a front-row seat to a magic era in the industry, both before and behind the scenes. A former news writer for CBS News, Ingram has written about major events occurring around the globe. Now he's turned his attention to the story of WABC Musicradio and the stars who made it the most listened-to radio station on the planet for two decades. Raised in Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island and educated at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, he spent over thirty years in broadcasting, mostly as a newsman in markets of every size and at CBS News in New York. He has also been a disc jockey, cook, truck driver, and a high school wrestling coach. His website is http://chrisingram.org

Big Dan Ingram. The best
Dan Ingram might be the greatest Top 40 jock ever. Even though this wasn't exactly a bio it came very close. Chris did a remarkable job encapsulating the essence of Big Dan. I have read this countless times and it is an incredible read.

Great read for any radio guy from the 60s on. A blessing to Big Dan fans.

Loved his dad Dan Ingram. Truly, one of the top radio greats. The stories in this book are the best.
