FBI Special Agent John Daniels doesn’t play games. He tracks killers and buries them under the weight of justice. His latest case, a string of brutal executions targeting members of an elite lifestyle club, should be like any other. But this time, the predator is different. This time, the enemy knows their every move. And the one person who can help Daniels crack the case is the woman he’s spent years trying to ignore.
Reyna Marx is a sniper, a fighter, and a woman who never backs down. As a top Cerberus operative, she’s taken down criminals in some of the world’s darkest places. But when her work collides with Daniels’ investigation, the man who once called her reckless, she is forced to trust the only man who can match her.
Each clue drags them deeper into a world of dark secrets and deadly deception. The passion between them is as dangerous as the killer stalking them. And when Reyna becomes the next target, Daniels’ greatest fear comes to life.
This isn’t just about stopping a murderer. This is about protecting what’s his. And John Daniels never loses.
The Sniper, a heart-pounding romantic suspense in the Club Southside series, where passion and peril collide in a race against time.

The story is the ninth in the Club Southside series and is a spinoff from some of the other books that will include several main characters that revolve around the Baker Street BDSM club. Club Southside is an American version of Baker Street in London, including a Cerberus office. It will also include Cerberus’s FBI liaison, John Daniels.
Reyna Marx heads up a team with Cerberus in Chicago. She is an expert marksman sniper, has lethal hand-to-hand combat skills, and isn’t afraid of anything—except maybe commitment. She is a submissive in the BDSM scene but doesn’t get involved in relationships. She and Daniels scene together, where she allows him to use ropes or a violet wand, but she doesn’t allow sex.
The story will have Daniels called into a murder scene behind the Velvet Glove Club where Mistress Veda is found murdered. The local police decide to turn it over to the FBI, and in turn, he calls Reyna to come to the scene. These two will fight for the right to lead, and for Reyna to submit the lead to Daniels won’t come easy—they will have to agree to work together—because lives are a stake.
“Someone was still playing the game. This wasn’t just messy. This was personal. And whoever was behind it wasn’t done.”
“Working with Reyna wasn’t just stirring up old feelings—it was tearing through the walls he’d built around himself. She was chaos, fire, and defiance, but she was also trust, vulnerability, and strength. And that terrified him.”
The story is a page-turning tale of life and death danger, good versus evil, revenge, lies, trust, and protection. Who is targeting people in the BDSM lifestyle? How are they learning private things that should be secure? How deep does this take Reyna and Daniels into the belly of power, greed, and destruction? Human trafficking, high finances, power plays, and elimination of individuals.
As the story unfolds, the trust and cooperation of Reyna and Daniels is a battle between solving these crimes and opening themselves to one another. Admitting feelings and moving the level of dominance and submission forward. Realizing that not only are they trying to learn who the enemy is, what their next move will be, who will be the next target, why it is happening, and that they are also targets for this level of evil.
I loved Daniels and Reyna together. You can sense the angst mixed with passion between them. He wants more, she doesn’t relinquish easily, but she trusts him. Eventually, they do move their relationship forward to a more intense level that will come with admissions of feelings and intimacy.
Where do I begin with this review? The story itself was a maze of twists and turns with John and Reyna racing down one lead after another. Then there was the tension and chemistry that sizzles between them. Watch out!! They have a tenuous history where both have been hurt and neither are willing to be vulnerable. John is a FBI agent who works with Cerberus regularly and Reyna is one of their operatives. Unsure who the target is in this latest case they have little to go on... initially. The more they learn, the less they like what they know. Artemis is a name they can't ignore, and the climax is epic, action feuled, and will have you on the edge of your seat. I have read this entire series, and I believe this is the most action driven of the bunch (IMHO). I'm guessing, based on the way the story went, there's more to come, and I am gonna be here for it!! Join me?!
I received a gift copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. I highly recomment not just this book but the entire series (and Club Tales too). Happy Reading Y'all📚
My first by Delta James, and 9th in series.. one would wonder if I fell into a tale that I couldnt follow.
Absolutley not!
Ms. James does a great job of catching us up on the Club Southside gang. This begins with the murder of Mistress Veda from the Velvet Glove Club. The case is tuned over to the FBI, and John Daniels is on the case.
He brings in Reyna Marx, she is an expert marksman sniper, has lethal hand-to-hand combat skills, and isn’t afraid of anything—except maybe commitment. She is a submissive in the BDSM scene but doesn’t get involved in relationships.
Great mystery, chemistry and some BDSM for those who like it. This book was well written and had me guessing, I would be interested in others in series.
Thank you to BookSirens and Delta James for the chance to read and review prior to publication. If ropes, chains and spice are up your alley, I highly recommend this very intelligently smutty series.
Daniels and Reyna are explosive together. This story is a true thrill ride with so many exciting and passionate twists and turns. It’s Delta James at her very best. The writing is intriguing and exciting, compelling and inspiring. I loved how two very strong, stubborn individuals managed to find vulnerability and trust in each other. Never a dull moment!
THE SNIPER is the ninth instalment in Delta James’ contemporary adult CLUB SOUTHSIDE erotic romantic suspense series. This is FBI Special Agent and Dom John Daniels, and Cerberus operative / sniper Reyna Marx’ story line. THE SNIPER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including some scenes of rope play and spanking, there may be triggers from more sensitive readers.
Told from omniscient third person perspectives including Daniels and Reyna THE SNIPER follows on the hunt for a killer. Someone is taking down members connected to the BDSM Club Southside, and Cerberus operative Reyna Marx is determined to uncover the truth but the FBI has called in Agent John Daniels, a man who knows thing or two about the lifestyle and the people involved but as Daniels and Reyna begin to unravel the clues, our couple will discover a possible mole within the Cerberus family, as the investigation becomes personal and so much more darker.
The world building focuses on the possibility of a betrayer; a mole, either within Cerberus Security, or Club Southside but the deeper our couple find themselves, Daniels realizes that Reyna is struggling with her need for control. Reyna is a submissive who often battles between head and heart, as she is desperate to uncover the truth. Determined to go it alone, Reyna is a strong, independent operative who will continue to push everyone out of her life including the man with whom she is falling in love,
The relationship between Reyna and Daniels is one of Dom/sub, in which Reyna struggles with her need for a man who will control her heart but Reyna ‘needs’ what Daniels is willing to offer, even if it means submitting her heart as well. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. There is more BDSM content than in the previous story lines.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and interesting secondary and supporting characters including several of the previously introduced Cerberus operatives. The requisite evil has many faces.
THE SNIPER is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic and captivating; the romance is limited to club scenes, submission and work; the characters are desperate and determined
This is book nine in The Club Southside series and it is Daniels and Reyna’s story and it is definitely a must read. Daniel’s is a FBI agent and takes down the bad while getting justice for the victims so when a string of murders where the victims are all part of a elite lifestyle club there are not many clues and the person involved seems to always be one step ahead which means that it could be a inside job but now time is running out and trying to stop the people involved in the murders is going to take everything that they have to find out who is doing this and why. Reyna is a top sniper, stubborn, fierce, smart, a fighter who never backs down and working as a Cerberus operative which gives her the chance to keep her skills up and take down the worst of humanity while getting justice for the victims but she also never asked for help from anyone and had walls so high around her that it will take someone really special to break through them. Daniels is a dom and Reyna is a sub and they often do scenes together but she only allows him to go so far and doesn’t do the emotional or deep parts because relationships are definitely not for her or even on her radar and even though she trusts Daniels in a lot of ways she still keeps most of herself contained. Daniels and Reyna will now have to work closely together again and the more time that they are in each others company the chemistry between them grows even stronger and they will have many ups and downs along the way but to stay alive they will have to have a lot of trust, patience and communicate with each other if they are going to get out this situation aliv. The twists and turns keep coming at a break neck speed along with danger, betrayal, suffering, suspense, suspicion, deadly secrets, power, human trafficking, loss, drama, action, destruction and deception which will have you turning the pages and unable to put this book down because it is so addictive and keeps your attention throughout the whole book and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
Spectacular addition to Club Southside series, riveting read with sensational plot and characters Agent John Daniels is used to catching some of the worst people humanity is unfortunate to have within its inhabitants and this story is very much based around such an individual. Daniels has been trying to catch his predator but it is as though he knows every move before he even has a chance to plan it and he is bug enough to know that he needs to call in help, so he calls in the assistance of Reyna Marx. Reyna Marx is a renowned fighter and marksman in her own right, she never ever gives up on a perp and is well known within the best in her field. Currently she is working as one of the very top Cerberus Operatives and knows that if Daniels has reached out to her for assistance he must truly be at a loss and requires a partner he can trust to work alongside him. As Reyna and John follow the clues they have and search for any scrap of information no matter how mall from any reliable source they can trust, they know that poor intel from an unreliable source could cost one or both of them their lives and this is something years of experience would not allow. As they follow every new clue and chase down every possible lead, they uncover a world that is dark and sordid and filled with deadly secrets and deception. They have a passionate working interaction and know that they cannot allow this to get away from them as it might be a matter of life and death. I guarantee that you will find yourself like me unable to put this book down until you know the outcome, it will keep you guessing and second guessing right up to the last page it is a beautifully written book and I look forward to future books in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
Reyna is the sniper for the Cerberus crew in Chicago and also participates as a sub in Club Southside that it is connected to. FBI Special Agent Daniels has worked with the Cerberus crew quite a few times and is a liaison with them and plays as a Dom in CS. Daniels & Reyna have played together at CS, but outside of there, Reyna is all work and it drives Daniels crazy because they are so good together. The book is very suspenseful and it freaked me out a lot. I found myself chewing on my nails, muttering curses under my breath and punching my bed and pillows while reading. But, it also is fun, funny, steamy, tiny bit romantic, and scary too. There is a big problem, someone has murdered a dominatrix that had some play at CS, but mostly played elsewhere. So Daniels, Reyna and Cerberus as well as the FBI are racing against a clock to find the bag guys in time to prevent more deaths and other things. The fight scenes in the book are awesome and I love seeing the other characters come back in. We get to see a lot of Fitz in the book for once! Yay. My heart broke for Reyna as I learned more about what Cerberus has done over the years. Not everyone can be saved and now that has come home to roost and cause problems. The ending shocked me and it isn’t over yet! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
I received this advance reading copy for free from Booksirens and am voluntarily leaving this review.
This is the latest book in the Club Southside series by this author. The background is that Club Southside is both a BDSM club and the headquarters of Cerberus, a non-governmental security agency that sometimes collaborates with law enforcement agencies. For the most part, the BDSM is mild, the emphasis is on crime solving. In this book, there is someone killing people in the BDSM community and trying to link the murders to Cerberus. The local cops called in FBI agent, John Daniels, who called in Cerberus agent, Reyna Marx. Daniels and Reyna have a relationship, having worked previous cases and as having a BDSM relationship. The book is a blend of crime solving and the developing relationship between Reyna and Daniels.
The writing is good and while I didn't feel I knew the characters' motivations well, I came to know the trust and protectiveness they shared and I felt very invested in them. The story culminates in explosions and near death experiences as is common for books in this series.
There is a lot of action in the book and it draws you in rather completely. You may find it hard to put this one down.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Cerberus and the FBI are waging a war on human trafficking, that they’re loosing. There are also a few new characters introduced to the series.
Domme Veda is found dead in the back alley of The Velvet Glove with their word “Cerber” spelled out in blood.
More affluent BDSM members are killed with messages left behind, and other are being hunted. Everything tracks back to a human trafficking group, and Artemis. We learn the why to Artemis’s actions.
Daniel’s an Alpha Dom is and FBI agent. Reyna’s a highly honored sniper with Cerberus. These two walk a fine line between love and hate, until they both finally understand what’s been staring them both in the face, of course after a few Cerberus members point out the obvious to each of them. They say love is blind and this is a good example.
This story has betrayal, action, thought provoking revenge and the realization that someone(s) has set their sites to expose, dismantle and take down Cerberus.
This was a fast and easy read. Suggest reading this series in order to know who the existing players are.
Happy Reading📖🌻
I received an advance copy of this book via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving an honest unbiased review.
Not a big fan of contentious relationships. I feel like I may need to read this book again. Reyna was so angry and closed off, but I didn't understand the reason behind her attitude. She was a sniper, so she had the expertise. She was a team lead, so she had the experience. She didn't want to appear as vulnerable, and I completely understand that, especially in her line of work. But, was that why she came across the way she did?
Daniel's character was cool. I liked that he recognized and respected Reyna's skills. I did pick up on his and Reyna's chemistry at both the beginning and last chapters of the book. I wasn't as aware of it during the middle of the book. I wish I had seen more of the Cerberus team's involvement in the case.
I found the case itself to be interesting. I did like Daniels and Reyna working the case together. The clues left behind were intriguing. The race to figure out what was going on, who was the target, why it was happening, and who might be behind it, and if there was really a mole inside Club Southside or Cerberus, kept the pace lively.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The title of the book, ‘The Sniper’, certainly grabbed my attention, especially when the sniper is Reyna Marx, a member of the Cerberus. She is tough, an amazing fighter, and a submissive at Club Southside. FBI Special Agent John Daniels, who often scenes with Reyna but she keeps it emotionally distanced. They are working together to solve several murders in the BDSM community. The killer is always one step ahead of them and they believe there is a mole, either at the FBI, Cerberus or Club Southside. The first murder was Mistress Veda who was found behind the Velvet Glove, another BDSM club with something written in blood. Another murder followed the same pattern.
As Reyna and Daniels get closer, the danger increases dramatically. Daniels protective Dom side comes to the forefront and Reyna eventually learns to let go and embrace it with him. She has a journey of self-discovery with the guidance and support of Daniels, as they find their HEA. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I 💜 full length Delta James stories, The Sniper is no exception
Nothing better on a windy, rainy day than settling down with a cup of tea, some biscuits and a new Delta James novel.
We get to know the characters FBI Special Agent John Daniels and Reyna Marx, one of Cerberus's best. They have a history of scening together, and both now how dark the real world can be. After the murder of one of their own, John realises that he needs Reyna's skills as a Cerberus operative for this investigation. Further, they have to go undercover as a couple which means they have to work together and trust each other; something that Reyna just doesn't do easily.
The danger and betrayal throws them together. Fascinating to read how the relationship develops, the skills used to delve down to find the truth.
By the way, you will need more than one cup of tea while reading this story.

3.5* Hot And Bothered John Daniels and Reyna Marx have known each other for years and have scened together at Southside. When he is confronted with a murder with potential connection with Cerberus, where she is one of their top agents, he calls her for assistance. A big part of the book is about their reluctant relationship, that slowly grows more intense. The other members of Cerberus have little or no place in the story, I would have liked to have met more of them again. What I found really irritating is the use of John Daniels’ last name throughout the book, even in private encounters, while Reyna is always mentioned by her first name, even in professional settings. To me this sounds sexist. This was the first book by DJ that gave me that feeling. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Reyna Marx is independent woman and member of Cerberus group as sniper. She's up for the challenge, never breaking down even when operation was a set-up. John Daniels is FBI agent and has worked on several joint assignments with Cerberus, and often paired with Reyna, who is always cool as a cucumber but stiff when it comes to men… but she surrenders only when playing at a lifestyle club, and then only to Daniels… but someone after the Cerberus group and John Daniels making it seem that Cerberus botching rescues or doing nefarious things rather than rescuing hostages… and the team keeps getting set-up with riskier locations and blown up buildings… but will Reyna and Daniels survive long enough to let the other know of the feelings that are growing stronger??? I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
Daniels and Reyna. The FBI and Cerberus team up..reluctantly. Their tension is wound so tight and for so long that they are are each others throats constantly and is about to explode. Her contolled emotions are already wound tight and only adds to that tension. She goes undercover, without her backup.
This is a suspensful thrilling ride. Attacks and messages keep the thrill exciting and the adrenaline pumping, twisting the game and uping the anty. Shes chaos and hes the voice of reason. These are complex charecters with emotions all over the place. They are not only unraveling the clues but their emotions as well. OMG the story is so well weaved together with clues, suspects, suspense, mystery, tension and passion. Couldnt put it down.

Reyna and Daniels had been skirting around their relationship in the club for years and when they were both pulled into a crime connecting their lifestyle, they had to work together.
A fast paced read pulling you into a dark world where deception and betrayal are part of their everyday life as they race to find and uncover the predator in this explosive new addition to the series!
I loved this latest addition to the series which explores more of Club Southside and the lifestyle element featuring Reyna and Daniels relationship and how amidst all the action, danger, betrayal and action, they finally found a way to be together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This Is the ninth book in the Club Southside series and things are heating up, not only trying to find out who is killing members of a club. FBI agent Daniels is working with Reyna, yet Reyna seems angry with Daniels, yet won’t let this come between them as they try to find who is behind the killings. It’s obvious Daniels has feelings for Reyna and wants to protect her as the killer begins to make himself known and puts Reyna in some serious danger. The cat and mouse like game gets them closer to the killer and ultimately puts them in grave danger. As the action heats up, Reyna realizes she has fallen for Daniels. As I read each page and their story gets more intense, I questioned whether either of them come out alive at the end. A great romantic suspense from Ms. James.
The Sniper is the 9th book in the Club Southside series and can be read as a standalone. It's fast-paced and had my heart raising, but at the same time I was really frustrated because Reyna and Daniels seemed to go around and around in circles with both the investigation and their relationship. At the same time there are a number of inconsistencies and loose ends that never get tied, starting with the reasons for Reyna's lack of trust. I liked Daniels and his dedication to help Reyna both personally and professionally and can only that the rather abrupt happy-for-now ending turns into a HEA eventually! I received an early copy through BookSirens and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
I was really looking forward to Reyna's story. Her kick ass personality is equal or above some of the other team members, However, I didn't particularly care for her one band woman rampage. Where were the rest of the team? does she not answer to anyone?
When Cerber, was found written at the crime scene, her immediate response should have been to contact Fitz. Her argumentative banter between her and Daniels was annoying to say the least.
Where was the team?? Also Fitz in all other previous stories he's the top dog, figuratively and literally . In this story he's kind of passive and not a leader.
I'm glad at the end though that Reyna and Daniels got their act together.
The writing is extremely descriptive and that made for great reading so there is no second guessing as to what is happening. The story has two main characters Daniels and Reyna and the attraction that she seems to want to deny but by the end of this story the attraction is acknowledged and the final submission has been accomplished. As usual, danger is getting closer and finally attacks and for once they are one step behind the villain. It’s a great story that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. It’s well written with great characters. It is a story worth reading along with the others in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksirens and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Rating 4.5 stars. Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Standalone in the Club Southside series and this one is on Daniels and Reyna. These 2 obviously have history, implied through the missions they worked together or where their paths crossed, and of cos when they scene together. Whilst there is a definite tension between them, it didn't feel completely affectionate so I wasn't fully sold on the idea that they would end up together. The intrigue, suspense and danger that unfolded kept me glued but it felt like there were some gaps as you're never really told how Artemis managed to execute all their plans. Overall I enjoyed the book but the unanswered questions left me a little unsatisfied.
A lot of suspense! Who is the killer? Why are they targeting the people they are? What does this have to do with Cerberus? Reyna Marx, a top Cerberus sniper, and John Daniels, an FBI agent, have to work together to figure out who is laying the traps? What is their goal? Who is the ultimate target? Reyna keeps fighting her need for Daniels. She knows she’s a submissive and NEEDS the release he can give her, but is stubbornly refusing to accept his dominance and acts out by behaving recklessly time and again. Daniels is SO patient, allowing her to come to terms with her feelings, wanting her to give in to him on her own but it’s a battle.
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
OMG this was a great book. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the verge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Reyna and Daniels were together a long time ago. They couldn't even fight the temptation any longer as they were rekindled the passion and the love they once had for each other in this moment. Their lives had change in a big way but danger was around the corner and she couldn't believed what his job was about. But she was still in love with him and the feelings was on the rails of madness and passion.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Trina Jones
Totally loved Reyna and Daniel’s story ! Great coming together of Cerberus and the FBI , old missions that haunt them both come to light and the bodies keep coming . The characters are a mix of old ones we love and new ones we love to hate ! This one’s a mixed bag of adversity and of Reyna finally giving in to being Daniel’s sub, but we don’t get a collaring ceremony !! Not nice Delta James ! We love to see our ladies collars. Can’t wait for the next Club Southside/Cerberus story . 5✨’s, even without the collar. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I also loved the dynamics between Reyna and Daniels. The chemistry and "denial" of how Reyna feels towards Daniels was fun to read. She sure made him work . But in the end their was no denying what she was to him and how she truly felt.
Of course steam to the eventual romance.
Well written with the perfect HEA for them.
I liked the back story. Action throughout with the perfect amount of intrigue .
I also like that the last part of the book has an intro to the next to get their HEA .In this case it will be Mitch. Can't wait. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"The Sniper" by Delta James is a solid romantic suspense novel with an engaging enemies-to-lovers dynamic. FBI Special Agent John Daniels and elite sniper Reyna Marx are both strong, determined characters who clash as much as they connect. Their chemistry is intense, adding a sizzling layer to the fast-paced investigation of a brutal killer targeting an exclusive club. The action is gripping, with plenty of twists to keep the tension high. While the plot follows familiar tropes, the execution is satisfying, making it an enjoyable read for fans of steamy, high-stakes thrillers.

The Sniper is an action packed rollercoaster ride that doesnt want the reader to leave until the last page. This author has written a story that is intense and enticing. It is full of tension, suspense, mystery, spies and chemistry between the main characters. As Daniels and Reyna try to deny their chemistry and feelings for each other the killer keeps bringing them together. The push and pull between the main characters keeps you on the edge of your seat. I read this in one sitting and was unable to put it down. Daniels and Reyna have history and a furure to work out. Well done and entertaining.
