My evening began with shouting curse words toward the snowy Wyoming sky. A breakup, an incoming blizzard, and a broken-down car on the same day weren’t just bad luck. The universe was trying its best to sabotage my trip entirely.

Just before the sun had a chance to fully set on this dumpster fire of the last twelve hours, fate stepped in. One look was all it took from the handsome stranger in a black Stetson, and I changed my tune in a hurry while he helped me off the ground at the bottom of his mountain driveway.

The attraction between us was instant; that much was obvious. After we’d been trapped together in his cabin with nothing but a cozy fire, a shelf full of old books, and maybe a few drinks, we realized there was more to our chemistry.

Logic tried to remind me that a vivacious world-traveling photographer with chronic cold feet and a quiet cowboy with deep-planted roots had no business taking a shot at true love. But my heart had a mind of its own.

By the time I mustered up the courage to admit I wanted more, it was time to go, and I was staring through watery eyes at Ledger Cole’s blurry figure in the rearview mirror.

Now I’m stuck between choosing to turn my car around, wait for him to chase after me, or find a way to move on from the most passionate weekend of my life altogether.

I am no stranger to a Lainey Lawson book and when i seen she was releasing a snowed-in novella I knew I had to read it. This was steamy romance about Izzy (her car breaks down) and Ledger (a hot cowboy) who comes to save the day. The pacing and character development in this novella was written very well and I loved all of the side characters! Can't wait to read more from Lainey!

This novella was so good it should’ve been a full series. Lainey managed to pack so much into such a short book and still made us feel like we really got to know the characters - what a writing queen.

Ledger is a hot, hot cowboy who never expected the woman to sacrifice her dreams—excuse me but *we love* a man who supports his partner’s passions and career. Izzy is a strong, career-driven woman with a tone-deaf, boring ex who decided she knew exactly what she wanted and went for it—including the cowboy.

Even though insta-love is a trope I usually don’t vibe with, this one felt REAL. The chemistry between them was undeniable. ARC read, thanks so much LL - 5 stars!

Izzy and Ledger met in the perfect kind of ❄️ snowy ❄️ meet cute! Who doesn't love their car breaking down when ❄️ snow is pouring down in flurries and you have a handsome 🤠 rugged cowboy come to your rescue? Oh, just me? Well if that isn't your type of dream then you aren't at the right book!

Ledger comes to Izzy's rescue when her car breaks down on her way to the next photog job that she has lined up. As fate would have it, they stay at his cabin that has no TV, WI-FI or technology of any sort.

Izzy and Ledger bond like some people have never bonded- the old fashioned way. They not only bond but they also have a little fun with some whiskey and 20 Questions!

I love how they were able to be open and honest with each other but never felt like they had to hide anything. Boy, after a little bit they didn't hide anything at ALL! They knew that they shared something special and had to see where it went right here and now even if it was only right now.

Izzy & Ledger weren't shy about what they wanted when they were with each other. They shared several scenes that weren't just your vanilla scenes. We have several different scenes that I was like YAASSSSS. A little whiskey tasting to go along with everything never hurt anyone!


All in all I loved that Izzy & Ledger were more than willing to compromise to make each other happy. Not only were they willing to make each other happy, but they wanted to ensure that they could do more together than apart! I loved these two so much! I would have loved to see a whole novel with these two but I really loved this book!

Surprise, surprise that Lainey Lawson wrote another really cute story! A super sweet and spicy novella.

I really enjoyed the snowed in and stuck with this hot rancher plot. Insta-anything is a trope I typically hate. When I saw this marketed as insta-lust I was hesitant BUT I really enjoyed it. It didn't feel too forced and I liked that we got some good chemistry between Izzy and Ledger.

For a 162 page novella, I felt like we really got to know both MCs really well.

Izzy is a photographer who bounces from city to city. She loves her job and meeting the right person is aways a challenge. She's confident and settled in who she is. I enjoyed her personality and I LOVED that she didn't leave her career behind for any man.

Ledger is your typical gruff and handsome cowboy type. He's a softy at heart, especially for those he loves and cares for. I mean the man offered a stranger a place to stay for Pete's sake! He's a man of few words but his actions say it all.

I loved that we didn't get an IMMEDIATE jump in bed with a stranger. These two got to know and understand each other. It was refreshing. I enjoyed their banter and I loved all the heated tension.

My only drawbacks was Ledger's mom so overally enthusiastic about a single stranger staying with him. I also think, for me, the quick amount of time these two spent with each other made it a little unrealistic about their absolute need for each other. Other than that, this was a really cute novella.

This was a super sweet & spicy snowed in novella. Ledger & Izzy had instant attraction from their first moment meeting each other and it ignited into some spicy cabin moments.

I loved that they were both coming out of relationships they had zero interest in. Despite Izzy & Ledger both living very different lives, they somehow work together perfectly! I love a grumpy cowboy and Ledger was great!

💭My Thoughts💭
I loved this winter novella. Since it is a novella, things moved along fairly quickly, but the chemistry between Izzy and Ledger still felt natural.

Izzy and Ledger got to know each other by hanging out and reading. Ledger was a quiet, grumpy cowboy who just enjoyed his alone time, while Izzy was upbeat and talkative. Although they were opposites, they never made each other feel like they needed to be different and I absolutely loved that about them. While Izzy had to travel for her job and Ledger worked on his family’s ranch, they still made their relationship work and they supported each other.

I enjoyed the side characters in this story as well. While we don’t get a ton from them I did love what they added to the story.

This novella was perfect because it wasn’t too short or too long and I don’t feel like anything was left out or was just quickly brushed over. I would 100% recommend this, especially if you love a snowed in with a cowboy romance with spice.

I'll admit, I've had Lainey Lawson on my TBR list far to long and when I saw that she had a snowed in cowboy Christmas novella, I figured this was a the perfect place for me too start and I was not wrong. This one was a super cute and spicy. It's honestly everything that a you would want in a novella.

I loved the plot. Both of our MCs are freshly single. Izzy is a travel photographer who finds herself in Wyoming for a job when she unexpectedly gets stuck in a snowstorm on the way to her destination. In comes Ledger, our grumpy cowboy who was hoping to spend the weekend alone in his cabin, only to stumble on Izzy right in front of his driveway. And what kind of man would Ledger be to have Izzy figure it out on her own. He's a gentlemen that's what he is but I can't guarantee that he will have gentlemanly thoughts once they get snowed in together eyes 👀

This plot was cute. I liked both of our characters. They were the perfect grumpy x sunshine pairing. I loved the whiskey play. It was just a good snowed in cowboy novella for this holiday season. I will say, I am now moving Lainey Lawson up on the TBR! I can't wait to read her other books!

I feel like this novella was written for me to read. As soon as I saw the snowed in and saved from a car during a snowstorm I knew it was for me. And Whiskey Weather lives up to my micro-trope obsession. Not to mention the small town, country boy, ranch tropes that we know and love.

The characters were so well written. I loved Izzy and Ledger. Their backstories, relationship, and interactions were amazing which is such a hard feat for a novella. Even Ledger’s family was lovely. The one connection that brought me out of the story was Izzy’s parents. It felt a little added in to me.

The story was well-written and well-edited. I enjoyed the smoothness of the scene transitions and language. I never felt the story lagging or difficult to pick up. The spice was sexy but still felt genuine in connection.

This is my first Lawson novel and I will definitely be reading her other novels as well. This is an honest review provided from a eARC gifted copy.

Izzy is a traveling photographer who recently breaks up with her boyfriend for lack of supporting her career and lack of chemistry. One her way to her newest shoot, she finds herself snow stranded and discovered by a stranger who she ends up needing to wait out the storm with.

The nature of most novellas is pretty instalove which is rarely my favorite but this was well done and very organic! I didn’t actually feel like they were initially strangers. The characters personalities (main and secondary) are so fun and unique and really help this story to stick out from other snow-stranded stories! I love how everything came together in the end. And I felt a very personal connection to the FMC since I have a similar job and went through the same lack of support to eventually find a man who loves me and supports my passion!

This was an amazing showed in novella! I love when I can grab a shorter read to get straight into the lovey dovey feelings that I'm craving.

Izzy and Ledger were both coming out of unfulfilling relationships when they happen to get snowed in together... you know what that means: a slow (but steady) burning & steamy romance that made my heart melt from the inside out.

Izzy has always wanted to find her person; who doesn't hold her back, cares about her passions and supports her, and gives her the love she deserves. I felt as though Ledger really saw Izzy for HER from the moment he laid eyes on her.

This was an amazing spicy novella full of depth, that had me kicking my toes the whole time!

ARC Review - Huge thanks to Lainey Lawson for the opportunity to receive a review copy of Whiskey Weather!

⭐️⭐️ - Unfortunately, this one was a miss for me. Having read a similar novella - Holly’s Grizzly - a few weeks ago, it was really difficult not to compare the two. Where I loved Holly’s Grizzly, Whiskey Weather came up short.

I really did not vibe with FMC Izzy. From the outset, she came across like an obnoxious brat. She seemed to be the type to take action and seek permission later with no respect for personal boundaries or consent. I hated how she just immediately makes herself at home in a stranger’s cabin and then routinely snoops and judges everything about it. On the one hand, I would understand if she was snooping to make sure Ledger wasn’t a serial killer since he was a complete stranger who rescued her from the side of the road, but no, she was just being nosy and kept laughing at him in the first third of the book. Before he can even offer, she’s telling him she is going to take a shower and then getting comfy on his couch “as if she’s lived here for years and this is her nightly ritual.”

Izzy uses Ledger’s soap in the shower right after she arrives even though she has all of her own toiletries with her, “lay[s] flat on [her] stomach, stretched over his bed with [her] face in the comforter” before taking her second shower in under 24 hours, and takes photos of Ledger in various states of undress without his consent (only obtaining it later). All of these moments gave me the ick.

I knew we were getting a strangers-to-lovers insta lust novella, so I had no issue there. That said, I didn’t feel any real chemistry between the MCs before they cross that line.

(I will concede that once they do get naked, things get pretty spicy for a minute - more of Chapter 13, please! 🥵)

After they hook up, the MCs go from feeling very awkward around each other (in my view) to suddenly seeming to have the comfort and familiarity that would only come with a long-term relationship and wouldn’t be possible in the short span of time they spent together.

This sense of long-term familiarity felt even more underdeveloped when the MCs go to Ledger’s family’s ranch and Izzy almost seems like she had been there and around these people before (then again, I guess she does just make herself at home). Ledger’s entire family basically ignores Izzy when she is invited into the house in a way that feels like we skipped over a few chapters where she was actually introduced to them.

One thing I did appreciate about this story was that the MCs found a compromise in which they could combine their drastically different lifestyles in order to be together in a way that felt somewhat realistic. I loved that despite their very different backgrounds, Ledger was deeply interested in Izzy’s work and supportive of her career path - with him, in fact, being the one who travelled with her some of the time instead of holding her back.

Whiskey Weather is hands down my favorite novella I’ve read thus far. It had everything you could want in a spicy, cowboy, quick read.

Ledger is a quiet introvert. He spends most days cowboying at his family’s ranch, and most nights alone at his cabin in the woods. No internet, no TV, no social media; he prefers it this way. Until he meets the lone traveler stranded in a snowstorm at the base of his driveway. Izzy is a chatty extrovert, who travels the world as a photographer. Ledger extends an invite to Izzy to stay at his cabin until they are able to dig themselves out of the snow, & the rest is history. Stolen glances turn to quiet conversations which turn to kisses and passionate nights.

This book was so sweet and I absolutely adored both Ledger and Izzy equally. I felt they had such strong yet opposite personalities, and they brought out the best in each other.

If you’re looking for a swoony read that will have you praying for a quiet cowboy of your own, look no further. I love Lainey’s writing, and have had the pleasure of reading a few other books of hers.

“Izzy” a freelance photographer is stranded in the middle of nowhere (Wyoming) during a major snowstorm .
“Ledger” is a Rancher/ Cowboy who is the strong handsome silent type . He comes to Izzy’s rescue when her car breaks down by his cabin.

They share two days in his cozy snowed in cabin and soon learn they can’t live without each other!
It was a such a sweet love story between these two but their chemistry was also very good!

Me personally …I usually take my 🥃Whiskey neat! But I wouldn’t mind having a bit of “Ledger “ mixed in 😝☺️😮‍💨( this scene) 🤭🥵

Overall …I’m such a fan of Lainey’s writing , and this book didn’t disappoint!
I would highly recommend this beautiful novella!

I absolutely loved this novella!!! I definitely could’ve read a full book on Izzy and Ledger.

Izzy has car trouble when there’s a blizzard on the way and she ends up stopping in front of a quiet, broody cowboy’s cabin. Ledger notices Izzy and her car and is very kind to take her in and get some help for her car 😌

While there is an instant connection, I didn’t see it as “insta-love.” I really enjoyed the flow and the tension 😋 and Y’ALL LEDGER ANNOTATES HIS BOOKS!!!!!! I love, love, loved that he recommended his favorite book to Izzy when she was snowed in with him. He was also wicked supportive of Izzy’s work and her photography art 🥹 There was something about Izzy that made it easy for Ledger to open up a little bit ❤️ They were both honest about their feelings for each other and while they would have to do long distance, neither of them were going to let each other go!!

Lainey Lawson writes the swooniest and sexiest Cowboys ever, and Whiskey Weather was no exception! What starts with the cutest meet cute ever, turns into the steamiest winter weekend for Isadora and Ledger! They’re snowed in for the foreseeable future, and it’s only a matter of time before things get sexy! But before that they spend their time reading books on the couch together 🥹

I loved the way their meetcute seemed like it was actually kismet because they were always meant to meet! I loved seeing them take their time figuring out what there HEA would look like, especially because they don’t live in the same place. It was refreshing to see a couple struggle a bit and figure out this step of long distance dating that so many romance books usually just skim over.

Overall if you’re looking for a short, fun, steamy read with a sexy Cowboy then grab this novella and settle in! 🤠

Ohhhhhhh my goodness, y’all, the more I read from Lainey Lawson the more I fall in love with her writing and her characters! Whiskey Weather is my 3rd book by her and I loved it from start to finish. 🥰 The only downside is that I wish it was a full-length book because I couldn’t get enough of Ledger and Izzy! 😂 Even though this was a novella, it felt like a complete story. Lainey Lawson packed Whiskey Weather with a lot of character development and backstories, romantic tension, steam (this one scene, I tell ya….🥃🔥🥵), and some pining as well. It was the perfect read at the perfect time, and I can’t wait until I get my hands on another Lainey Lawson story!

I’m going to start by saying I LOVED this novella…Izzy and Ledger were just pure magic…

Whilst Izzy gets stranded after a big snow storm, Ledger appears - the introverted grump, who rescues her and has no choice but to have Izzy stay with him whilst the storm passes.

Although this was a novella, I felt like the tension built beautifully…I loved hearing both of their thoughts and cackled at seeing they were both thinking the same but keeping everything to themselves.

I could have read another 300 pages of these two just living normal life 🥰…

I’ve really enjoyed discovering Lainey’s books and every book so far has just let me escape for a little while and honestly there is nothing better.

Thank you Lainey for allowing me to read this Arc, I’m excited for what is to come next💕

I devoured this book in one sitting. I was obsessed with ledger the moment he reached out his hand to help Izzy.

Everything about this novella was a good pace. Obviously with a novella you’ll get some insta lust/infatuation, but I believe it was done so well! The banter and chemistry between each other just followed so well. I also loved that Izzy did not have to give up any part of her dream because a man wanted her to. Ledger is the most supportive person in her corner besides her parents! I enjoyed being able to see some time with them apart and the little jump in time really set this novella apart from others! Oh and the spice was hot 🤤

I love lainey’s writing and will read anything and everything she publishes!

This is the perfect cozy weather read. 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 is sweet with the perfect amount of steam and all the swoon. Ledger + Izzy are so unbelievably adorable together. I loved the way their relationship developed while they were snowed in together and the total contentment they find in each other. It’s beautiful. I read this novella in one sitting, and I truly had the best time. I loved it. Highly recommend snuggling up with a comfy blanket, a warm drink, and this cutie book!

I had the absolute best time with this book. It was like a warm hug. I read it in one sitting. (I know I’m reviewing this 2 months later, but it’s still on my mind, and I can’t get over how obsessed I am with Izzy and Ledger)

& who doesnt love a grumpy cowboy that knows exactly what their woman wants?🤭
