A new series for those of us who loved Nancy Drew!
When renowned art conservator Chloe Harper is hired with restoring a mysterious stained-glass masterpiece known as The Glass Mermaid, she never expects it to entangle her in the decades-old disappearance of its creator, Lydia Mariner. But when a wealthy art collector with a suspicious interest in the piece turns up dead, Chloe begins to suspect that the secrets hidden within the glass go far deeper than mere artistry.
With the help of her fiercely loyal best friend, Fi Delaney, enigmatic antique dealer Oliver Campbell, and the ever-watchful Detective Ethan Callahan, Chloe follows a trail of cryptic clues left by Lydia herself. From shadowy figures in the redwood forests to hidden messages in Seabrook’s historic boathouse, the deeper she digs, the clearer it becomes that someone will do anything to keep Lydia’s secrets buried.
When a shocking discovery in a hidden cove places them in the crosshairs of dangerous forces, Chloe and her friends must risk everything to expose the truth. But as powerful enemies close in, will they be able to protect Lydia’s legacy, or will history repeat itself in the most deadly way possible?
I have read over 100 books by Dianne Hartman. This was sure a different approach to me than her usual stories. It was an easy read. I like that there weren’t too many characters in her books. I only wish it ended with the bad guys getting caught. Robert Ericksen
I hate cliffhangers! Story was not very complex, enjoyable, but nothing special. I have the second, but I'm not going to be happy if.it is as short and has a cliffhanger.
What a fun cozy mystery. When I need to unwind and decompress from the everyday world, I pick up a cozy mystery. "The Glass Mermaid" is a perfect way to relax with a book without trying to figure out the intricacies of a hard core "who dun it".
This was a very interesting book. I read it straight through. Who would have thought that restoring art could bring about such danger. I was a little irritated by the ending. I wanted much more information than was given. What happened to all the things collected on their journey? Did they get the killer of the art lover? Just saying.
Well, that was certainly different! I read the whole book on one sitting and I don't have a clue what happened. Was the mystery solved, I don't have a clue! I don't even know if its continued in the second book. Talk about a messed up story!
I am frustrated. This book left me waiting for the end of the story, and it never appeared. The next book in the series mentions that first story, but that's it. No satisfaction at all.
This is the first book in a new series by one of my favorite authors! The premise is of a lost treasure and hidden secrets surrounding a famous artist who disappeared almost a century ago. Fast paced and enjoyable it held my interest throughout. I like the main character Chloe who us resourceful and spunky, as well as her best friend Fi who provides fantastic comic relief as they embark on a Indiana Jones type mystery. Each clue they uncover leads to not only more intricate clues but more danger as well!
I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I know there will be one because Mrs. Harman wouldn't leave us hanging in this much suspense. I have read the majority of her books across the many different series the she creates and they never disappoint!
What an intriguing story! The author did an amazing job of keeping me longing for more. I was kept on edge through to the end. Can't wait for the next book in this series. Definitely a worthy read!
A well written story. Chloe is a well known art restorer who has been asked to work on a famous artwork that was created by a Seabrook resident years ago who then mysteriously disappeared. Lots of twists and turns with a cliff hanger ending.
