🔮 Seven witches. Seven stories. One powerful destiny. 🔮

Book Hyndland Road – Elspeth’s Story

Elspeth Munro keeps her patisserie warm, her head down, and her magick quiet. But when a shimmering sigil blooms beneath her skin and a stranger leaves a shortbread heart marked with the same symbol, the life she’s carefully rebuilt begins to change shape. A warning from the Witch Council, a Keeper with old loyalties, and a voice from beyond the Veil all point to the same Elspeth is waking—and the world is watching.

Drawn to Isla, Cat, and Morven—and to the legacy her grandmother kept hidden—Elspeth steps into the circle and into danger. A fire tears through Moonspell, a binding is cast in the ashes, and the Veil answers with a man out of myth. As her gift deepens (and a steady, grown-up spark with fire inspector Cal McLeod surprises her), Elspeth must smother the flame or become what she was meant to be.

With Glasgow’s West End under threat and the Council closing in, Hyndland Road follows Elspeth as she claims her power, anchors her sisters, and faces the cost of keeping magick—and love—alive.

Sugar, sigils, and slow-burn longing.

This book increases the danger and deepens the bond between the witches as they assemble and learn more about the path set before them.

The FMC in this book is Elspeth Munro, she keeps to herself after a traumatic relationship with her ex husband and runs a bakery called Moonspell Patisserie. One day, a stranger somehow leaves a heart shaped shortbread in her shop, magically imbued and not so coincidentally inscribed with the same sigil that has appeared on her arm. A fire is set in her bakery, she and gets a strong warning from the Witch Council. She was already aware of them from her grandma’s own history. Elspeth’s magick is building from the normal level it had been simmering at—and she is definitely being watched. Isla, Cat, and Morven connect with her and bring her into the fold. Jean provides even more important background information, and Elias comes through to speak with the witches. The call of the Veil is super strong, and Elspeth is pulled into it and speaks to her Gran. As she gains more experience and strength in her gifts, the threat to Glasgow intensifies , and Elspeth helps to anchor the growing coven of four.

This series continues to surprise and delight me, onward to book five!

I truly loved the idea of this storyline with the seven witches becoming newly awakened to their powers. I was hoping that each book would be an actual full story and not a novella though. I purchased all the rest of the books in one go hoping that they would become more descriptive, showing what was going on, not telling. I read the rest to see how it would end but there was so much more that could have written in each story to make it a true novel that I was left feeling disappointed. They were short enough that I read the last 5 in one day. I hope he goes back and fleshes the books out more.

another fantastic book from Steven P Aitchison. Just finished this book, and I'm loving the way the books are blending in to each other. can't wait for book 5. Each of the women all have their own gifts, which are coming together to make one strong coven.
