Oh my goodness, I never imagined there could be another manga to "compete" with my love for Play It Cool, Guys, but this series is it!
THIS WAS SO SO SO CUTE!! (Cue lots and lots of squealing! EEEEEPPP!)
I don't even know where to start, but this first volume hit all the expectations I had and was SO happy reading this! I laughed A LOT and had such an enjoyable time that I'm like PLEASE GIVE ME THE NEXT VOLUME ASAP!!
There is just something about this "evil man" who wants to do absolutely nothing on his day off, including not destroying Earth. Too bad he keeps bumping into the Red Ranger, who is determined for them to battle and our Mr. Villain is destroyed.
Enter the cute black-and-white fur ball that Mr. Villain is so obsessed with! LOL!
I think the best way to wrap up this volume is that cuteness saved the Earthlings from total extinction, and SHOULD Mr. Villain ever completely wipe all the Earthlings, then you can know the world will be taken over by adorable pandas thanks to him. Bahahahaha!
Truly, I'm a total sucker for this story in how he is all menacing, but throughout the volume he interacts with people and has one moment of "does he really want to wipe them out?" and I ADORE that kind of premise!
Definitely one of the best volumes I have read this year and SO stoked for the next volume!! Highly recommend it if you enjoy episodic stories that are similar to Play It Cool, Guys!
Okay, that was cute! A little repetitive at times, but that's kind of the norm with these sorts of stories. I loved his obsession with pandas (and who could blame him?), but my favorite part was probably the chapter with the villain taking the two children around the mall and feeding them. I'll definitely be continuing this series!
Empece con el anime y me encanto♥. El protagonista y las situaciones que vive son adorables, quien diria que una “organizacion malvada” tiene mas respeto por los derechos laborales de sus empleados que una normal😅.
A friend of mine recommended this one to me. (I think it was the pandas, lol.)
Cute and sweet. The action is slow burn character growth, as our Big Bad MC discovers that not all humans are horrible and that furry creatures are the best. I love the blissed out bunny scene, so adorable!
That being said, I’m not actively hunting down the next volumes, but I will read them if I get the chance. It’s great we see him on his days off, but we don’t see the evil side of him, where he is actively hurting humans. I rather end on this note than see that or think of that more.
3, heartwarming in a way but only if you don’t think too hard on it, stars.

A kind of one joke manga.. But it's a good one joke.. A super villain relishes his days off by obsessing over Panda's...shopping in convenience stores and having slightly weird interactions with children.
This was by far one of the best manga I have read this year. I know it’s early in the year, but this is now the bar to which other manga shall be held. This brought me so much joy, and I highly recommend it. 10/10
It's always nice to read something lighthearted once in a while and Mr. Villain's Day Off is exactly that. Plus the pandas and other animals that feature from times to time are cute af so that doesn't hurt and it really made me want to try out the anime, too.
There are several chapters and they do get repetitive what with the General repeating it's his day off but that's basically only the first page and not a big deal. However, it's not really just one-shot short stories as I was expecting because there is definitely a deeper story going on here and I'm investedddd.
I think Mr. Villain and the Star Festival was my favorite chapter because we see a new side of the General and it's actually heart-warming. But yeah, it's so amusing to see him discover stuff like ice cream, lunch by the cherry blossoms, shopping at the supermarket and waiting for hours at the zoo just to see what color is a panda's tail.
The General is an alien and a leader of a villainous org who wants to destroy humanity (and breed pandas). He just really wants a pet panda so that he can hug one at the end of an exhausting work day and like who can't relate to that, heh.
Then there's Red Dawn, part of the Rangers, tasked with catching the General. He has a few run-ins with the General and all of them were hilarious especially seeing as he doesn't have any sense of direction and is almost always lost. 💀
An alien general is tasked with destroying humans so Earth can be repopulated by his own people. Although he seems scary, he has a kind and compassionate side. Also, he adores fluffy animals (especially pandas) and ice cream. On his rare days off, he indulges his passions by visiting the zoo and eating delicious foods. He encounters humans tasked with the destruction of his kind, but refuses to fight them on his days off.
This is a simple fun sweet story about a villian just trying to enjoy his time off and slowly learning to love humanity despite knowing he has to kill it. okay that last part is tiny subtext but I really liked this one the lost hopeless hero who he helps because its his day off and he doesn't want to fight is fun. Every side character really good. Idk This was just fun. I had fun maybe you will have fun idk.
This is basically a single joke manga, but that doesn't mean there's no creativity. The repeated gag here is that the evil alien who wants to take over the world and destroy humanity has a soft side. If this was just the villain repeatedly getting mushy over furry creatures, that would quickly lose its appeal. But he's also exploring food and meeting people. It's weirdly heart warming. I don't know if this series can keep this up without becoming super repetitive, but it's fun.
I stan a work-life balance King like Mr. Villain. No matter how many times Dawn Red tries to take him down, he REFUSES to work once he's clocked out and I love that.
Mr. Villain comes from a different planet, and seeing him take pleasure in life's little joys despite wanting to obliterate the human race is such a wild contrast! He reminds me to take pleasure in the simple things like the softness of a rabbit's fur, the pleasure of trying a new ice cream flavour that's surprisingly delicious, and the warmth that comes from caring for adorable little kids.
I thought it would be a one shot, but there's more! I'm curious to see how this might be expanded into a multivolume series.
this was such a wholesome, slice of life manga with a villain main character. the premise is adorable. a big bad villain who is a leader of an evil league that wants to eradicate humans and seize earth for their home spends his days off doing the most cutest, mundane things that fascinate and soothe him. he loves pandas and the convenience store and has several interactions with little humans as well as the red ranger, who is basically his enemy. each chapter is like an episode in itself. it's also super quick and easy to follow. an absolute must read as a pick me up. such a jolly good time. this would make a 10/10 slice of life anime!
Honestly such a fun collection of short stories, I loved all the characters and all the relationship between them. I love Mr.Villain’s and Red Ranger’s dynamic, the way that they are supposed to be enemies but their is always a truce on Mr.Villain’s day off. It’s so funny to me how Mr.Villain says a few times throughout the story that he avoids his coworkers on his day off like the plague, and all the little scenarios they gave for that. I love that even though Mr.Villain is supposed to want to destroy the world that he still has all these people and animals he is soft for. I loved that he was always kind. All in all it was an amazing light read and I definitely plan to pick up more of the series!!
He's a super villain...but it's his day off and he wants to see the pandas. There are a series of short stories about a villain who is obsessed with pandas(and also bunnies), creates a truce with his arch nemesis, and rescues a couple of lost kids.
He's going to destroy the world..but maybe not everything is so bad? Five stars for the unique story and of course, cute pandas.
So this book really surprised me. Halfway through this book, I was completely bored. I considered DNF’ing it— but in the end I resolved to trudge ahead so I could revenge-rate it. Except when I returned to finish the job, I found the book… surprisingly interesting? Not just that, it was humorous and heartwarming?? Truly, my opinion of this manga preformed one of the most surprising 180’s I’ve seen in a book, and I was very pleasantly surprised that it did! Honestly I’m still not sure how my whole mindset about it shifted? But it became a very calming, comforting, slice of life story about Mr. Villain and his daily encounters with humans— and there was something about those little interactions, whether they were moments of kinship or kindness or, of course, pandas, that was suprisingly touching! I think I’ll pick up this series and read some more of it next time I’m having a bad day. Hoping it keeps this sweet sentimental vibe!
There is practically no plot, but it's one of the most relaxing things I've ever read. Mr. Villain going around being all calm and introspective, but still delighting in the things he discovers and being kind to strangers, is exactly what the world needs right now.
I am an elite leader in the evil league, which battles everyday to destroy humanity and claim earth for our home world.....that said today is my day off.... ...and pandas are cute...
