Such a fantastic book!
I found this book via TikTok through an Indie author’s profile and let me tell you how I ate this book up! The world building in this book and side characters were top tier!
The badass FMC was just the vibe I needed and love interests are definitely setting up to be sooo good!
I cannot wait to read book two when it comes out! If you’re a fan of TOG, Road of Bones, Epic Fantasy, Romantasy and badass FMC’s… 100% recommend you reading this book!

If you like world building, gods, elves, realms, darkness, magic, higher fantasy, banter, found family, badass females, and battle scenes then this book is for you. There were a lot of plot twists and it is a book 1 (and I wish I could jump right into book 2) there are a lot of questions and things you have to work out as the story develops and you learn along with the other characters, but it’s all done very well. There are human realms, eleven realms (and kingdoms in there and treachery there as well), realms of gods, giants, dark elves, demons, and lots of other creatures introduced in this book with lore that seems like it was a mixture of multiple places. Dani has a cool sword along with other powers, she teaches human women how to fight and protect themselves and their town which is awesome. We do have a lot of questions left about what happened to her and why she has scars (especially given her powers that I don’t want to talk about too much for fear of spoilers). Calet her BFF is also badass and is a true ride or die, the main group of men in the story will make you laugh- you can tell they’re friends, they have good banter with each other and the ladies, the romance is at a minimum, it’s there but not the point. Dani wants to find her fate, is it to stop the war? Is she bound to one of men? Can she forge her own path? Will she get her power under control? Will she be a weapon of vengeance and destruction? Will she have to choose between the 2? What game are the gods playing? I received this as an ARC and I appreciate the opportunity to have read this for my honest review, I loved the descriptions of the realms and the world building that was done. I loved some of the lighter moments, calling Nihil Shadow Daddy had me laughing out loud, when Dani mourned her father it was very moving and the description of the petals and that tradition was a beautiful addition to the book.

Exciting!
This book grabbed my attention quickly and held on! Or rather I held on... to the edge of my seat. It was immediately exciting, intriguing, smart, snarky, and made me want to go "yeah! Girl power!" The story follows Dani. She's quiet, mysterious, full of attitude and a protector of those that can't protect themselves...from all kinds of monsters. Her best friend Calet is loyal, fierce, and a bada**. We meet the MMC Nihil and his interactions with Dani are swoon worthy. They also had great Banter that left me grinning. The story moves along quickly, it graces us with a plot twist I did not see coming....and then another....and then another. I actually sent Kathleen a message asking how she could do this???? I don't want to spoil it....but I felt a bit like a toddler throwing a tantrum because things were progressing beautifully with our characters and then BAM! Now I don't know what's going to happen! Ugh! And then she made me feel feelings for a character that I didn't want to! And then the book ended! Like come on!!! Definitely a fun read!

I recently discovered this author, and the blurb had me interested in reading this book. And wow what a fabulous story Kathleen created; giving us a wonderful cast to connect with, very intriguing storylines and world-building, and plenty of thrills and excitement to make for a truly entertaining read. It’s a well written journey for the cast, I can’t wait to see what comes next.

what a fantastic read, gripped from the start and had to get to the end. Absolutely loved Dani, fierce and resilient, tackling her problems head on and her relationships with the other characters were very well written, world building was fantastic, her character writing put me in mind of Cassandra Claire and her world building Raymond Feist.

Is this a debut novel?!?! It’s everything I was hoping it would be based on the blurb but so much more. No spoilers - but that cliffy was a doozy and book 2 better have some answers. Cannot wait!

I received a free copy of this Audiobook directly from the author. I am posting this review for free and completely of my own free will. All opinions below are mine and mine alone. Ya know, except for others who read the book and also think it’s amazing.
Okay, now that THAT is out of the way. . . Silencer by Kathleen Rae had me hooked from the jump. It’s exciting, smart, snarky, and gave me big “oh hell yeah, girl power” energy right out of the gate.
We follow Dani: snarky, loyal, intelligent, bull-headed Dani. She’s THAT gurl.
We also interact a lot with her best friend, Calet. The two of them together? I love. I will never get tired of snarky, fun, ride-or-die female friendships. Ever. I feel a lot of female friendships crumble in books but this one kept me invested.
Then there’s Nihil. Don’t even get me started. Just read the book. . . You’ll know what I mean. Side eye. side eye.
The world and magic building? Sublime. Like, shockingly good. It’s layered and immersive without being overwhelming, and it just works. This is like, a whole entire universe and I am fully captivated.
Everything felt natural and intentional, which made the whole story even easier to fall into. The setup for the world and characters makes me believe that this whole world really is going somewhere and Kathleen has a whole lot of tricks up her sleeve that we haven’t seen yet.
The pacing is fast and addictive, and just when I thought I knew where things were going- plot twist. Plot twist SQUARED.
Also, I feel like I now need a pet cloud? And book two. Immediately. No waiting.
This is a DEBUT novel, y’all. W. O. W.

Couldn't put this book down!! I was sucked into this book from chapter 1! Loved the plot twists and the characters! Everyone needs to add this book to their tbr list! I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2!

I absolutely love Dani and how she is so quick to come up with a snarky comeback. This has been such a great story. I love the friendship she has with Calet, the way they are together is so fun. The Norse gods and other aspects of the book keep you entertained the entire time.

I loved this book! The characters and witty banter were on point! Nihil is the respectable shadow daddy we all love to see coming too! Asmund is growing on me as a character but not enough, I am full team Nihil at this point. Calet is the friend we all need, the one who stays around even when you try to push everyone away and need that one person to tell you to knock it off and stays by your side anyways. I also think there is more to Calet than we all know so far but Wrath will tell me if I am correct or not so only time will tell.
Dani... our FMC is THE embodiment if female rage and I love that for her! She is who I think about when I hear the words "feminine rage" now. The voice actor for the audio book PERFECTLY matched tis character as well, it was pretty much how I would picture the the character sounding. That match up was 100% on point!
Plot twist after Plot twist, the over all pacing of the book was great, I feel like the world building was built into conversation really well between characters and I am excited see to more of it in book 2, Wrath, when it releases!
Overall this was a great book with low to no spice (it wasn't needed for the story anyways) and I loved the chemistry and more natural heated moments between some of of the characters without the spice added.
