GRIT by Nick Christie (Gay Erotic Fiction - Not for the easily offended)

Fresh out of prison, Luke Walker has served a full-term for GBH. Having been troubled, or in trouble, for most of his youth, prison has given him some time to reflect on his past actions but, with only one true friend to rely on, can he make good on his plans for a better future?

Alex Brannon has been given everything by his parents. His talent for music has taken him to study at the highest levels but with crippling low self-esteem he has no focus in his life and feels increasingly trapped in his own world.

Poles apart, Luke and Alex unknowingly share a connection borne out of the loyal friendship of their fathers. When Alex’s father offers Luke an opportunity he can’t refuse their worlds collide. Strong and handsome, with an air of danger, leather-clad Luke stirs a new, deep, lustful obsession in Alex; a feeling which Alex doubts is reciprocated.

The two men develop an unexpected friendship. Is it just lust or could it mean something more to both men? Will the pair help each other to find the grit needed to build a better future?

Nick Christie is a British novelist who loves to explore his interest and passions in his books. Reasonably new to writing, Nick started as a hobby, and very quickly began to enjoy the creativity and exploring the relationships with his characters. Many of the first stories cover his love of leather and how it is used and enjoyed in gay life. The stories have strong sex scenes, but are balanced with story telling.

Nick lives in central England with his husband and two cats. Having travelled the world through his previous jobs in Marketing, Nick likes to bring different locations to his books to increase their interest.

An excellent blend of kinky leather dynamic and a sweet relationship. I love the story and how the opposites attract to the extreme and how Luke and Alex complemented each other. All the fabulous leather and musical details made the book a fascinating read.

I’ve been looking forward to reading this book ever since Nick announced it was coming out. I bought it first thing Monday morning. I started reading it right away. So why am I just now finishing? The reason is I didn’t want it to end. I wanted to stay in the world of Luke and Alex as long as I could. I just couldn’t put it down today so sadly I finished. I highly recommend this book.

Luke has got to be one of my very favorite characters. He’s the perfect boyfriend. He’s handsome as well as totally loyal and caring. He brings out the best in Alex, but I think Alex also brings out the best in him. I really liked all the characters except Michael.

I’ve decided not to say this is my favorite book by Nick, because I’ve been accused by my husband of saying that about each of his books. I’ll just have to wait for the next one.

My new favorite book from Nick Christie

The wait was worth it!

Once again, Nick didn't disappoint me with his new book, which blends romance and kinky scenes.

How can you not like—no, love—Luke?! He's a raw gem; fortunately, Dale and Alex help shape him into a true jewel.

Thank you, Nick!

Well, GRIT really does have just that. I'll admit I am a huge fan of Nick's books, and it's not just cos of the sexy parts. I just love the characters so much. They always feel believable and you really want to be in the same room with them. Grit is a great tale of two men who are total opposites in life. Without giving anything away, it's a story of people helping one another out and introducing them to new ideas and ways.

The story is as always with Nick, full of leathery sex and kink but balanced with some highs and low moments and some deep romance and love. I really enjoyed this one and it was a lovely story to be told. As always there are a few characters who are the grit in the oyster (see what I did there) who you want to hate, but Luke and Alex along with Darrel (god we all want a friend like Darrel in our lives) are a joy to read and get to know.

Can't believe its been over a year since Wild Wood let's hope its not another year 'til Nick gets another book out. Pretty please.

Grit means being courageous and sticking with things until they are finished, even when faced with failure or disappointment. This describes Luke perfectly. With the help and care from Luke, Alex becomes a much stronger person and begins to have faith in himself.

What a fantastic story! Nick brought all these incredible characters to life, making the entire narrative so easy to visualise. Luke and Alex, who are complete opposites, embark on a journey together that completely opens Alex's eyes.

This book is wonderful to read; it evoked so many emotions that I just couldn't put it down. We are all different and walk our paths, but with love, we are the same.

I love your writing, Nick; it is gritty and real.

I anticipated the enjoyable recurring themes of leather men and earthy sex, a trade mark of Nick's stories, but what took me by surprise in the nicest way was the emotional complexity of both the main characters in this story

Both Luke and and Alex are fully realised and continue to develop during the story, which adds a lovely depth to their romance. I also loved that Nick made appearances deceptive. Leather-wearing, bit of rough, ex-con Luke is basically kind, decent and honourable and just needs a chance to put his life on track. Similarly, middle class musician Alex may be sheltered and privileged, but he has far more strength of character than he gives himself credit for.

Both men employ the grit of the title to better their lives, face their demons and find passion and love together, with the help of a well-drawn supporting cast. A truly engaging read!

The writing is exceptional, featuring complex characters with profound depth. The setting in Manchester resonates deeply. Nick dedicates significant attention to character development, exploring how their arcs intertwine with friendships and love, all while immersing the reader in the leather kink scene. This book beautifully illustrates that it is possible to experience both kink and love coupled with very detailed scenes and experiences.

Worth the wait!!!

I cannot say enough about this book! What an amazing story. I fell in love with the main characters, but also the supporting characters were amazing. I have read and enjoyed all of Nick Christie’s books, but this is my new favorite. Keep up the good work Mr. Christie!

Nick knows how to tell a story. This by far is his best book to date. Love tenderness and compassion of these characters blew me away. The naughty bits were still there but the love story is what really stood out for me. Great read!!!

Insipid writing and sex scenes were not always exciting.
