Starts off rather well but all the stuff in the village is a let down. There were a bunch of dull anecdotes along the way, Lottie is cute as always but not enough to carry the story. Stuff that happens is fairly predictable, no consequences for actions. Plus the behavior of the witches in the village just kind of exasperate things. Which culture definitely feels like culture shock. I did enjoy the bonus stories probably more than the main story. Reading about how Sicily's family met was quite cute. Her mom and dad are adorable and their backstory is quite interesting. After reading this volume, I don't really feel interested in reading any further.
The characters are still entertaining, but we learn more about Charlotte and Cecily's town even though Cecily and Zeke remain the focus. The childhood memory is just enough foreshadowing without entirely spelling things out to see what is coming when it happens. Rather frustrating all in all, but the ending is still sweet, so it's an okay addition to the story. If there's another volume, curious if Cecily and Zeke will continue to be a focus or if we may see more of Charlotte and Alphonse given the hints that keep being dropped and how Charlotte has slowly been coming out of her shell and able to work through some of her fears about "loins."

Review is for volume 1, since I couldn’t find it in GR.
Overall it was dumb. The premise didn’t make sense, and there were many things with poor logic. Don’t even get me started on how stupid Cecily is when she does things like make that potion and substitute everything.
