This book is written in a way that non-doctors can understand about Kidney Disease. It breaks down the treatment options as well as how a kidney transfer works.

This book is full of resources for both people considering treatment as well as those who are considering donating a kidney.

Originally I was going to rate this book a two however at the end, I was still not convinced on ever donating a kidney, so it dropped to a one star. One of the major problems I had with this book was that it so heavily encouraged kidney donations that it was a bit disconcerting. It seemed to dismiss a lot of peoples worries and anxieties, which are that any surgery hold a risk and for some people if they have other medical conditions that risk is heightened. A lot of people also have concerns that for some reason they might need an extra kidney, these are just two of the reasons I’ve heard for people not wanting to donate kidneys specifically. The book more brushed over those and really pushed that donation is critical for people, which it can be, and how to donate, and how to take care of your body to donate. I think that for someone who is already interested in donating, and wants a read on how to be better prepared this would be am alright into book, for someone who is on the fence about potentially wanting to become a donor, I think that consulting with a medical professional is a far better option.
