In her search for the truth, she could lose everything.
The Texas Hill Country holds many secrets—but none as dangerous as the lost treasure of legendary outlaw Billy Miner.
Financial advisor Claire St. John never imagined that striking up a friendship with reclusive William Miner would lead her into a deadly game. His wild stories of hidden gold seem like nothing more than folklore—until he's murdered, and Claire becomes the next target.
Thrust into a world of betrayal and greed, Claire discovers that the past isn’t buried—it’s waiting to be unearthed. As she follows the trail of a missing fortune, she unravels a century-old mystery that powerful enemies will kill to keep hidden.
Now, with time running out and danger closing in, Claire must decide how far she's willing to go for the truth. Because the deeper she digs, the more she stands to lose—not just the treasure, but her life.

A well-written, easy read. My only complaint would be the lazy proofreading which allowed various people's names to be switched, causing a pausing in reading. Otherwise, 5 stars for completion, maybe a 3 stars book for character development and interest.
Kady Hinojosa has continued to build out her excellent Texas Hill Country characters and sends them on a modern-day treasure hunt! I loved the connection between the Old West outlaw and a modern-day rancher. I can't wait to read the next installment.
