A young man, ignorant of his family legacy, begins experiencing his gifts and must face down a bully, love and loss, as well as end of the year exams; all while trying to find out just what is happening to him. Michael Keller has no idea the surprises his awakening powers have in store for him, or the other people watching his every move. Will Mike get the girl of his dreams and dodge the darkness awakening within him?
Andrew M. Ferrell was born in Florence, South Carolina where his love of books was fostered at a young age by all of his family, but his grandfather in particular. After graduating high school, Andrew worked in several fields involving computers, quality control, and logistics. He also moved from living in Ohio to Northeast Wisconsin. He never gave up his dream of writing and published his first book in July of 2014, Beginnings - Family Heritage Volume 1. There are more planned in this series. An expanded Second Edition was released in 2016 along with his novella, Haunting of House 1273. Andrew splits his writing time with his family: his wonderfully supportive wife, their children, and two attention seeking dogs.
The author has revised the story, and I love it. There's romance, supernatural powers, and an ominous society looming in the wings.
Mike is a normal teenage boy, at least he was until he started getting raging headaches that came with an ability to see future events. At first, he wants to just fade into the background, spontaneously saving several teachers and besting the star quarterback in a fist fight is bound to get the high school rumor mill going. Add to that a rekindled friendship with an old friend he's been crushing on - who just happens to be the head cheerleader and newly ex-girlfriend of said star quarterback - and Mike's anonymous status is a thing of the past. Little does he know, but the powers he's coming into are part of a long and prestigious family heritage, and the secret society who seeks to control all those with powers have an eye on Mike, with plans of their own.
It's all the makings of a YA supernatural suspense romance, and the story delivers. The author lets you get a peek into the heads of all his characters, and it clips along at a nice pace, indulging in all the emotional details of a kid going through what Mike goes through. It's very believable, and rather enjoyable. I look forward to the next installment of the series!
