150 pages dedicated equally to parodying and honoring the Fromsoft legend Starscourge Radahn? Sign me up.

It does everything right here, and that’s just give every stage and move from Radahn’s ridiculously aggressive arsenal a little bit of shine. The strongest demi-god in the Lands Between gets to spam all his crazy moves over a bunch of chapters before the honorable general is laid to rest, and the stars fall down.

With just a few pages left, we get more in-game nods at the Roundtable Hold. It’s fun that the side characters all get some cameos and follow their dialogues and questlines. Up next, all roads lead back to the witch Ranni, whether for Rogier or Blaidd. To the Eternal City, Nokron!

Sidenote- so awesome to see the Greatsword in a panel. This books been worth the ride just to see my glorious main make its way onto an officially printed manga panel. Let’s gooo 🗡️

THE ELDEN RING: THE ROAD TO THE ERDTREE volume #6 is the first big change to the hilarious parody of the Elden Ring franchise. Specifically, Aseo proceeds to become the kind of badass who might actually complete the game. This despite the fact that he was utterly incompetent against the first boss and couldn't beat Godrick or Renalla. Here, Aseo actually stands up to Radahn in what is a genuine contest of skill (backed by a bunch of incompetent soldiers as in the game). I'm not sure how this will effect the comedy but I'm glad they did this.

A whole volume devoted to the boss fight against Radahn feels apt, given how many times I ran headfirst into that guy like a fucking wall. I love that Aseo is getting more adept, and yet everyone around him is just as useless as always.

Staying in one location for most of this volume definitely helped the story feel more well formed and easier to follow. Also helped the humor hit better.

This volume was suddenly an action series, whereas we’d been primarily comedy before now. I think I prefer the comedy. It’s also very hard to see when everything is so muddy. 😅
