Some Lover

Rate this book
Anna Stevens has always kept her heart guarded after a series of emotionally unavailable men left her heartbroken, untrusting of men. So when her boss, Adrien Lang, reaches out as they are both leaving their prestigious consulting firm, she feels a magnetic draw to him, hoping for the connection she’s longed for. But as they grow closer, something feels off—she starts to sense that not all is as it seems.

Adrien, too, is grappling with his past, torn between his desire for love and his fear of vulnerability. He longs for something real, a missing piece he can’t quite grasp. But his need for control begins to clash with his desires, forcing him to question everything he’s believed about love and intimacy.

As Anna and Adrien confront their pasts, they must face the true meaning of being seen and loved. In the process, they’re forced to reevaluate everything they thought they knew about relationships and what it really means to love—and be loved.

Part I: Anna
The book begins with the POV of Anna with very little character building. This isn’t usually something I would bring up but felt that the storyline was a bit forced and rushed. Most women have experienced Anna’s situation at some point in their lives, which I liked how that part was relatable. Overall, her story could have been a bit better had there been more time taken on her story without Adrian.

Part II: Adrian
The book ends with the POV of Adrian that showed a bit more character building that explains his behaviors. His storyline was a lot more entertaining for me and is most likely very relatable to others.

Determination:
I would have enjoyed the story a lot more had Adrian been the main or even the first focus, including his past, then the relationship he tried forming with Anna. I didn’t love or dislike this read but felt that more could have been given. There was a good bit of growth for both characters.
