A string of kidnappings involving young girls taken from bookstores and libraries thrusts a small town into panic.
Mia, a single mother and detective, struggles to balance her homelife and work. Dedicated to protecting her family and her community, she hunts a predator, leading to the discovery of a secret bunker filled with children. Hailed as a hero for recovering the missing youngsters, Mia believes the case is closed. But then she receives a call about another missing child, and another, and another…
This was a very good story. Until the last 2-3 chapters it was one that I could hardly stand to put down even to sleep! Children have been disappearing for years never to be heard from again but it’s so random no one picks up on the pattern until...... lol read it, you will like it! A couple of typos I can live with but I do absolutely hate with the author mixes up the names of their own characters....!
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I chose this rating because it was indeed a riveting read. It was nice to have a "feel good" ending to a story about child kidnappings instead of the usual horror. It also delved into the hardships and questioning of oneself of being a single parent, especially mothers.
This was full of characters you just had to root for!!! It showed a distinction that was filled with questions about who would react how!! It also underlined the misguided perceptions that frame a truly distorted view of what life should be! And the ultimate dichotomy of right vs wrong.
Mia and Adam Detectives. They find missing children!
Mia a single Mother and a police detective in missing children, and her partner Adam, single a former abused child have just been handed a case that connects several missing children now they just have to find out how? Fascinating reading and couldn’t put it down would have gave it a seven if I could.
Very interesting story. No bad language. Unique characters that really make you think. Conversations are a little wordy, everyone speaks in long paragraphs. Still very enjoyable.
This book kept me on edge. The emotions I felt through this whole story was bouncing all over the place. I'll be thinking about this story for along time. Thank you and keep on writing because I'll be reading this authors books for along time.
Police detective's, are looking for abducted children. They find them, with the help, of the first, and oldest kidnapped one. But, the tables turn, and the Detective's daughter is taken.
This story grabbed me from the first page and just kept getting better. Ms Holmes is a gifted story teller. The twist and turns kept me guessing. Looking forward to more books by Hazel Holmes
Absolutely enthralling. This kept me in suspense until the very end. It touches on some of the hard realities of life and knits them and the characters together into a breathtaking tapestry. I am excited to read more from Hazel Holmes!
It was good but certainly not riveting. Actually the subject matter was a bit weird. Collecting coins, interesting. Collecting stamps, fascinating. But collecting children, really bizarre. Didn't connect with the flat personalities any of the characters.
On going of the emotions of children missing and it never seems to end. A chilling story that once again the author has given us. The narration added to it. Given audio for my voluntary review
Nice read but it always seems the detectives child gets kidnapped? You just knew it was going to happen after the case was solved and there were still chapters left to read.
