This is a Series written by volumes in novelette form. Warning This is intended to be read by readers over the age of 18. Survivor. Sur-vive verb: To remain alive: to continue to live: To continue to exist: To remain alive after the death of (someone) That's what they all tell me I am. Eight different psychologists, four police officers, two doctors and my mother are all convinced that I now belong in the category of a survivor. Although I strongly believe the definition is sorely lacking, its more of a stereotype for people who were lucky enough to live through unfortunate events or circumstances. The word survivor doesn't seem sufficient. It's too simple, also insipid. Sometimes, there are words that just feel right on your tongue, they describe something monumental without even trying. I roll my eyes at every single person who has sat down with me believing that they would pick my brain and know all the answers. That they could diagnose me with some easily labeled condition, they could fix me with a few pills that I could swallow every day by mouth. There is no fixing me.

Edit after finished book#3: Do not read this series! It's a tease that ends with a cliffhanger. The series never come to an end and nothing ever happens!!!!

There are several reasons why I didn't given STOLEN a higher rating:
1. It's not an actual book but is actually just a couple of chapters. This is a teaser, a preview or a portion which hopefully, when combined with the remaining installments, will create obe complete book.
2.With some editing, this book could be greatly enhanced. I noticed some typos, missing words and grammatical errors plus sometimes things weren't written as well as they could've been. Below is an example sentence from the book: "Which is kind of uncomfortable, in a good way or not, I’m not sure yet.” Is there a good kind of uncomfortable?
3.In this first installment, not much happens. Yes, there is the abduction but that's about it. Aside from the kidnapping and the main character learning about and briefly seeing some the illegal activities happening around her, there is no trauma, no tragedy, no humor, no romance, no mystery, no suspense, no sex - no nothing!

The good news is that STOLEN did intrigue me enough to make me want to continue on to find out what happens!

This is a short read but there is plenty there to keep you on the edge of you seat! I was sucked in early on and screamed because it was over too fast! I need more like yesterday!

Aura is a summer away from starting college. She lives in a small town in Texas. Her mother works hard as a nurse to provide for her only child. Aura’s father bailed on them both ten years ago and has not been seen or heard from since.

In order to help her mother out, Aura gets a summer job at the local deli style eatery. After her very first shift, her whole world crashes down on her. She is stolen; abducted; kidnapped. Whatever word you want to use for it, Aura was taken from her life against her will.

I’m not going to give you any more details, but I will tell you this: the twist in this book threw me for a loop! I was completely thrown off balance. I cannot wait for the next installment in the In My Blood series. I have read one previous book by A.L. Wood and this is very different from the one I read. I am intrigued and want to know what is coming next. I feel connected to Aura and look forward to continuing on this journey with her.

Very short read. I like the idea of the story and really enjoyed the first chapter. The writing/sentence structure and character development needs some work. It showed promise, but it wasn't quite there.

Yikes

Interesting short story. I would have liked there to be more sustenance, but otherwise it was good. Look forward to reading book 2.

Good core story, but the execution is slightly off. I’m fascinated enough to keep reading, hoping this was just a tidbit into a bigger better story. Hopefully I won’t be disappointed but I am slightly worried.

Unfinished series

Don’t bother, series unfinished, and I suspect it never will be judging by the publishing date. Each book is less than 100 pages, and cuts off mid story.

I was given an ARC for a honest review. This book is so different from her Rock Series. The aspect of this book is clearly about human trafficking and it happens everyday and everywhere. Aura is 18 years old and has her whole life ahead of her or so she thinks. Until the unthinkable happens. The person that took her well, let's just say I was completely shocked. The ultimatum she's given is just unthinkable. So what is a person to do with those 2 choices knowing that if she doesn't do either and tries to even escape she will be killed. I have to admit Cruz has me curious on what and how he truly feels about his job and I am left with more questions than I am answers. This is a short book but it was totally worth the .99. Its dark, compelling, captivating and pulls you in. This sort of thing happens every day whether its a child, woman or man. Its out there and you can disappear faster than you can say HELP! Your gone and won't be found. Its sad to know that we lose people like that to psychopaths but it does.

This book is so different from what I am used to reading from A.L. Wood, but in a very good way! I was not sure what to even expect when I started reading. This book deals with very real problems that happen in the world that a lot of people tend to just pretend don't happen. Even though this is short the author does a great job at pulling the reader into Aura's world. I felt connected with the lead character right away. I don't want to give to much away but Cruz is a character that has me very curious. So far even though it is heavy subject matter A.L. wood does a great job at doing it justice and in tasteful manner! oh did I mention she through in a big surprise that I did not see coming! I would highly recommend this book!

Aura is a fantastic character and she has me intrigued from the start about her story. She was raised by her mom after her dad left them when she was a child. She is then kidnapped and taken over the border to Mexico. This book is fast paced and action packed. It is very suspenseful and dark. It is not for the faint of heart that is for sure. I was totally captivated by the story and I look forward to reading the rest in the near future. I will state that this is not like the author's usual work and I am very impressed by the concept and work of this story.

Wow! This shorter read really packs a punch! And although it is a shorter read it has a lot going on and it took me no time at all to finish and be like WHAT? Omg it left me hanging so much so I have to start book 2 right away. It does deal with difficult subject matter- but the circumstances within these pages can happen to anyone at anytime. I have a feeling Aura will have to become something she is not in order to survive and the suspense of what will happen next has me on edge. If you like a shorter read that will have you turning the pages this one is one to check out!!

Aura was abducted a year ago. Aura's father had her kidnapped so she can take over his business. Cruz is the man that kidnapped aura for her father. Wow I can say this book has twists and very well written . I'm a new a.l. wood fan

Intriguing short-story, subject matter is so pertinent and cleverly weaved into this intro novella.
