About the
V.S. Amitesh was born and raised in Uttar Pradesh, India. From an early age, he was captivated by fantasy movies and stories, which sparked his passion for creating his own tales. Over time, his love for reading grew, and collecting books became one of his most cherished hobbies. Preferring solitude to crowds, he often finds inspiration while exploring the things that intrigue him the most. When not writing, Amitesh is either gathering ideas through travel or planning his next literary adventure. His debut novel, Colour Me Red, blends science fiction with romance. Now, he has embarked into the fantasy genre with his latest book, The Infected Wishes.
After reading Colour Me Red, I had high expectations from The Infected Wishes, and I must say, the author has not disappointed me at all. This book is an intense, gripping, and eerie ride that kept me hooked from the very first page.
The story follows when Eshaan’s life takes a terrifying turn when he meets Rasri, a mysterious girl who pulls him into a world of nightmarish creatures and a deadly infection that turns good souls evil. As fear consumes him, he tries to escape, but fate has other plans—forcing him to confront his darkest fear. Grab a copy to explore more. Would you trust someone who might be connected to the very horror you’re trying to escape?
One of the strongest aspects of the book is its smooth and engaging writing. The 38 chapters are well-paced, keeping the suspense alive throughout. The characters, especially Eshaan, are well-developed, and his internal struggles add layers to the story, makes me question morality, fear, and survival. The magic system, though dark and twisted, is well thought out and adds an unpredictable element to the plot.
Another highlight is the book’s cover—it’s absolutely gorgeous and perfectly captures the dark and mysterious vibe of the story. If you enjoy dark fantasy with elements of horror, deep world-building, and psychological depth, The Infected Wishes is a must-read. V.S. Amitesh proves yet again that he has a knack for storytelling that is both haunting and captivating. I can’t wait to see what he writes next!
All I want to say is " this book is a treat for all the Fantasy Lovers " and me being one myself i devoured it !!! The beginning of the book hooked me till the end 😩 I loved all the characters so much .... Although it was fantasy I feel like the author tried to make it more relatable to real life ... Like how freaked out Eshaan was 😂 I was like " I would too bro " and the friendship between Hari and him was so beautiful ❤️. This book took my mind off of things and trust me i needed it. It took me in and I love such kinds of books. Everything was great from the alternative universe to the curses , the monsters, the villians .... I was like this at the end "😮" .... It was THE perfect way to escape reality and the author told me it's a series ?! I can't wait to see what and how the story continues. I really want to talk about Rasri. She is such a strong character loved her from start to the end 🫶🏻 and i also want to talk about the cover of this book. It is so pretttyyyyyyy !!!!! And so are the characters from this book <3 God ! I don't want to spoil anything here just read the book !!!!
This was a very fun read. I enjoyed Eshan's journey and how he was forced to face dangers he was not ready to face. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I am very excited to read the second book. While reading, it felt like I was also a part of their journey. Whatever they experienced, the fights, the flights, sorrows and happiness, I felt like I was a part of it all. I don't usually enjoy fantasy genre but I loved this book. What I loved the most was the friendship between Hari and Eshan. Hari never left Eshan with danger. Even though they were forced to stay separate, Hari made sure Eshan was safe. The characters of this book are interesting and intriguing and if you are into fantasy books with a great thrilling storyline and want to be a part of wonderful journey a book takes you on, just pick up this book! It was a very beautiful journey. I am very excited about the second book 🤌🏻
So, I really liked this book and that's saying something because I'm not really into fantasy novels but this one really stood out to me. The beginning of the book was hella captivating, and trust me you can actually feel Eeshan's fear through the pages. The story felt real all the way through, which made it easy to stay hooked.
What I found most interesting was the concept of Eeshan falling asleep and waking up in a completely different world, a deadly city filled with evil souls. I loved it. Rasri's character was such a standout too, her supernatural powers were so well written and gave the story an extra edge. And Eeshan, though he might seem simple at first, was hella intense the entire time.
Though at times, I felt like it got dragged in the middle..but overall a worth it read.
If you like fantasy with unexpected friendships with a good plot you should read this one!
Thanks to the author for giving me a chance to read his work! 💚

With its blend of action, suspense, and fantasy elements, "The Infacted Wishes" is a must-read for fans of the genre.
Rating: 4/5 stars
I'm looking forward to the second book, and I hope it lives up to the promise of the first!
The infected wishes is a fantasy novel about magical creatures, powerful curses, dark secrets, betrayals and world of infections.
the first half of the book kept me hooked throughout the story. i enjoyed the story of Rasri and Eshaan and even the first few chapters were quite horrifying in good way for me but i couldn't go past the story after 60% of the book because the story felt like it was dragging the plot in the mid way. nonetheless, i really enjoyed the writing of the author as it was the beautifully put together.
thank you for this e-arc copy @authorvsamitesh and @swipethebookpr in exchange of honest review.
As someone who is venturing into the world of fantasy books, this was a fairly good read. I loved the suspense around Eshaan and his 'disease'. Aru and Eshaan's relationship was hilarious - just like Tom and Jerry 😂 . Rasri was a mysterious character, and I wish to read more about her. Sea's character added more beauty, because she's my favourite! This book is beginner friendly, because it was easy to understand the geography of a hypothetical world. There were certain revelations too that had my eyes bulge out! However, I liked Hari more than Eshaan because he (Eshaan) was always timid. I was expecting a character development in him in terms of strength, but I believe the second book might fulfil my wishes. To conclude, if you want to check out fantasy books as a newbie, this one is the book for you!
This book had me hooked from the start! The writing is easy to understand, which made it such a smooth read, and the descriptions? So good. The story kept me on my toes the whole time—I was so curious to figure out what was happening!
I love how Eshaan is the soft one while Rasri is more serious and strong. Their dynamic just works so well, and it made me love them even more.
And can we talk about Hari and Sivi? I totally ship them—they’re so cute together! I can't wait to read more about them!!
What really stood out to me was how different this book is from other fantasy stories. It’s unique, refreshing, and unlike anything I’ve read before. If you’re looking for something new and exciting, with an Alternative reality and full of mysteries and drama, then I’d definitely recommend this one!
First of all, I’m really glad to be a part of the ARC team for this book! 💕✨ Thank you, @swipethebook.pr and Amitesh, for making me a part of this team! 💕✨
I was also part of Team PLOT Twist, who beta-read this book. 🍃
About this book: If you think that reading the blurb, judging the cover, or even knowing the trope reveal will give you the slightest idea of what this book truly is, then you’re absolutely wrong—because this one will surprise you. 🍃
I can vouch for that because it definitely took me off guard! 😁
The story unfolds like a fever dream for the MMC, Eshaan, which actually turns into a living nightmare and an entry into the mortal world. His life is turned upside down when a girl named Rasri—who obviously has supernatural abilities—introduces herself as his wife. 🤷🏻♀️
One of the things I loved about this book is that it doesn’t spend the first 5 to 6 chapters purely on world-building. Instead, it gradually introduces us to the fantasy elements in a smooth, natural flow. 💕
I would 100% recommend this book to new readers who want to start with fantasy. ✨
The mystery element is maintained throughout the book, keeping me completely hooked. 🍃
Since this book is packed with suspense along with fantasy, I’d rather let you guys read it than explain too much! 💕✨
The Infected Wishes is a fantasy story filled with magical creatures, powerful curses, dark secrets, betrayal, and a world of infections that threaten to destroy everything.
Eshaan, a boy with a deep fear of death. He is not well because of fever so he takes some medicines and goes to sleep. When he wakes up everything seems feels unfamiliar. Then he meets Rasri, a mysterious girl who claims to be his wife and begs him to save her. But he is confused about what she is talking about. She also says that something bad is going to happens. Why would he save her? Why is she saying that she is his wife? What is the worst that could happen?
Soon, Eshaan is pulled into Rasri’s horrifying realm, a world born from her failed magic. This realm is filled with terrifying monsters and unimaginable dangers, where a deadly infection turns good beings into evil. As the infection spreads, threatening to destroy everything.
Eshaan feels Rasri is the only person he can trust. But when Rasri suddenly disappeared he felt scared and helpless. Eshaan is left to face his worst fears, questioning himself why she disappeared and left him to die like this? If I talk too much about this story then I think I will spoil the whole suspense🥲, so I won't talk much about it, but I will definitely talk about its plot.
The plot is gripping and hooked me till the very end. The author has beautifully put his imagination on the pages. I really appreciate his imagination, where he created such vivid scenes that feel like a matching movie. Everything on the pages looked so real. Each character has their own story, adding depth to the narrative but, I felt very sad for one character (the author knows who I am talking about)🥹. Look guys, I already told you that, if I say too much about this book I will spoil everything🥲.
Tbh, fantasy genre is new to me but the author played with my mind through this book to make me get more immersed in this genre 😭😂. The story is so compelling that you will find yourself completely immersed in this magical yet terrifying world.
Book: The Infected Wishes Author: V. S. Amitesh Publisher: StoryMirror Infotech (2025) Total Pages: 300 Reviewed By: Neel Preet
In the ever-growing world of fantasy fiction, where the young protagonists are often thrust into realms beyond comprehension, author V. S. Amitesh’s latest release, “The Infected Wishes” delivers a bold, imaginative and truly a psychologically rich tale. The story in this title speaks not only to the thrill-seeking readers but also to those drawn to the internal battles of courage and fear. What begins as a story rooted in Eshaan’s deepest fear — his paralysing dread of death, ultimately transforms into an exploration of resilience, destiny and moral complexity. Significantly, author Amitesh has crafted a novel that is both gripping and layered, and though not without its flaws, it stands out as a compelling addition to the teen and young adult fantasy genre. Besides, the manner in which the author had carried out the task of storytelling in his book is captivating enough to make the readers quench for more with every turn of the page, and this is something that actually makes this title reading worthy!
Author V. S. His debut novel, ‘Colour Me Red’ blends science fiction with romance. Now, he has embarked into the fantasy genre with his latest book, ‘The Infected Wishes’ which is published by StoryMirror Infotech and is released during the period of February 2025. Also, the book is available in both paperback as well as in e-book format and the readers can find this title on all the top online marketplaces.
In this book, “The Infected Wishes” the author presents the character of Eshaan, which is immediately relatable as he is not the stereotypical heroic lead eager to jump into danger. Instead, he is anxious, wary and utterly human and his instinct is not to fight but to flee, making his eventual transformation throughout the book all the more satisfying. This unique starting point offers a refreshing break from the overly courageous protagonists typically found in the fantasy literature. The author’s decision to ground the reader in Eshaan’s vulnerability creates an emotional resonance that pays dividends as the story unfolds. The narrative arc takes a sharp turn when Eshaan contracts a strange fever that marks the beginning of his descent or rather, elevation into a nightmarish alternate world. Over here, author V. S. Amitesh’s imagination shines!
On top of that the realm he constructs is dark, inventive and filled with lore that suggests deep roots. Monsters bred from failed magic, infected souls corrupted by good intentions, and an ever-looming sense of dread create a chilling yet fascinating environment. These elements make for a captivating world-building experience. Further, Rasri, the mysterious girl Eshaan meets, is a character brimming with intrigue and contradiction. Her connection to the rising infection and the world’s transformation adds layers of ambiguity to her role — can she be trusted? Is she a victim or a villain? Author Amitesh handles her arc with nuance, never offering easy answers, which elevates the emotional and the narrative complexity of the book. Rasri’s character, just like Eshaan, is a vessel for deeper themes — guilt, power and the unintended consequences of the failed responsibility.
One of the Notable Strengths of this book lies in its pacing and ability to the maintain tension. With 38 well-paced chapters, the novel does not meander — it moves with a clear purpose. The transitions between action-packed sequences and character introspection are mostly fluid. Also, the rhythm of the storytelling is remarkably effective, ensuring the readers are never far from a twist or revelation that turns the story on its head. Furthermore, the climax, in particular, is a triumph. Author V. S. Amitesh skilfully builds toward a high-stakes confrontation that not only tests Eshaan’s physical endurance but confronts him with his deepest psychological fear — his own unwillingness to risk safety for others. This culmination brings emotional closure and propels Eshaan from a passive survivor to an active participant in his fate. The transformation is believable, earned and moving, making the final chapters resonate with surprising depth!
Moreover, the language used throughout the book reflects a careful balance. Author Amitesh demonstrates strong command over prose — his descriptions are vivid, his dialogues effective and his narrative voice engaging. Importantly, while the writing showcases sophistication, it remains accessible to the younger readers and the fantasy newcomers. This accessibility, combined with thought-provoking themes and dynamic characters, makes the book an excellent choice for teen and young adult readers seeking more than just escapism.
Now, upon reaching the final part of the review, i.e. the Book Verdict, we can conclude that a title like “The Infected Wishes” is for sure a reading worthy title. The book deserves a chance by the readers as it is a thrilling, emotionally rich fantasy that ventures far beyond a simple good versus the evil trope. It is a story about fear, transformation and the moral ambiguity of survival. With a relatable protagonist, a haunting world filled with peril and a narrative that balances the action with introspection, author Amitesh has created a book that will linger in the readers’ minds long after the final page!
In addition, for the fans of darker fantasy, young adult fiction and introspective character arcs, this book is a MUST READ. As, it proves that even those who run from danger may find the strength to fight — not because they want to, but because they must.
This book was definitely a very new kind of a read for me. I haven't read a book like this ever before I have read fantasy, I have read different genres but this book was something different and something unique and I really loved the book. I give 5/5 • * and it's totally worth it. I'll tell you why because the story of the book was very unique. The characters and the plot development was on point. The story started with Eeshaan. A very normal looking coward boy who had a fever and he was out of his senses because of the medicines he was taking and he was living with his grandma. Now one day when he sleeps he find himself in a very different place. The places is his house only, but there was no human there. There was no one else he could find out and then he suddenly sees Rasri very different looking girl in a white maxi, and she was scared and was asking for help, now the main thing she had a supernatural power, but still, she was asking Eeshaan to help him to save him from the danger behind her, but why when she was more powerful than Eeshan? Why was she asking him to help? What was the reason behind it? Now as the story unfolds, as the plot unfolds, it starts taking interest. I was so hooked with the book that I completed it in three days and because of one thing in the book, I cried also, I can't disclose it because it will spoil it for you all, and each and every character in the book has their own story, have their past and have their own reasons for what they are doing also, Rasri had one sister named Savi and a friend called Aru. They also have a very great importance in the book. The father of Rasri is Rulan, and he is a very evil man because all of his evil works. Now when Ishan is in Paranthea, Rulan asks his man to kill him, but Aru saves him. Eeshan merts an old man there in Candle's Call who knows every person in Paranthea and knows when and who will die, he says each candle represents the lives of people in Paranthea. There are many twists in the book, and after every twist and turns, I took 5 to 7 minutes, staring at my wall and processing them. The book was so good. I totally loved it and once I have enough time, I will re-read it for sure, and again I will give re-review it, and I really really appreciate the Author for showing us a different world and for all his wonderful efforts and so much hard work for the book, the book deserves all the appreciation one could give.
This book was such a fresh and unique read for me—I’ve read fantasy, I’ve explored different genres, but I’ve never come across something quite like this before. It was different, it was magical, and it completely swept me away. Honestly, a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 from me—and I’ll tell you why.
The story begins with Eeshaan, an ordinary, timid boy living with his grandmother. Sick with fever and half-lost in his medicine-dazed state, he drifts into a strange experience. When he falls asleep one night, he wakes up in his house—but it’s not the same. It’s empty, eerily silent, no humans in sight. That’s when he sees Rasri—a mysterious girl in a white maxi dress, terrified and asking for help. The twist? She has supernatural powers, yet she begs Eeshaan to save her from the danger lurking behind. Why would someone stronger than him need his help? That question itself pulls you right into the heart of the story.
From there, the plot unfolds beautifully—layer by layer, twist by twist. Every character has their own backstory, their own motives, their own scars. Rasri’s sister Sivi and her friend Aru add incredible depth to the tale, while her father Rulan plays the perfect villain. There’s also an unforgettable old man in Candle’s Call who holds haunting knowledge—every candle representing a life in Paranthea, burning towards its inevitable end. Each new revelation left me staring at my wall for a good 5–7 minutes just to process the shock.
I finished this book in just three days because I was so hooked—and yes, it even made me cry at one point (sorry, no spoilers, but prepare your heart). The drama? Intense from the very first page. The bromance? Perfection. The plot twists? Cinematic and jaw-dropping.
Speaking of characters—let’s talk about them: • Hari stole my heart completely. Brave, loyal, the kind of friend everyone needs. His bond with Eeshaan is the ultimate “opposites attract” friendship. • Aru and Eeshaan? Let me just say—you will ship them. No debate. And you’ll definitely curse the author at least once (sorry, Amitesh sir). • Rasri is an absolute queen, while Sivi is more of an enigma. She’s open, yet mysterious, and I’m still figuring out how I feel about her.
The writing style deserves special mention. Crafting a fantasy world isn’t easy—it needs to feel real, vivid, and alive. And this book nailed it. The worlds were described with such clarity that I could picture everything effortlessly, yet it never felt overwhelming. The pacing was on point, the drama unrelenting, and the ending? A cliffhanger that has me desperate for the next book.
💭 Overall, this was a magical, emotional, and thrilling ride through a world of power, mystery, and friendship. If you’re a fantasy lover—or just someone who craves escaping into a world of mystical creatures and spellbinding twists—this book is a must-read.
And yes, once the sequel drops, I’ll be first in line. Until then, I’ll just be here… dangling off that cliffhanger.

📖 Ever read a book that feels like stepping into a nightmare you can’t escape—but in the best way possible? The Infected Wishes by V.S. Amitesh does exactly that. With a mix of dark magic, suspense, and the eerie consequences of unchecked desires, this book had me flipping pages late into the night. (And maybe double-checking my surroundings 👀).
Plot Overview:
Eshaan has always been haunted by fear, living a quiet life with his grandmother. But when he meets Rasri—a girl with secrets of her own—his reality shifts. She claims to have cast a spell that went terribly wrong, unleashing an infection that twists good souls into something... unrecognizable. As the darkness spreads, Eshaan is forced to confront not just the horrors around him, but also the fears within.

Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, Amitesh throws in a curveball.
What Could Be Better:
➖ Pacing in the Middle – There were moments where the story slowed down a little, but the gripping ending made up for it. ➖ More Insight Into the Magic System – The concept of wish-based infections was so intriguing that I found myself wanting even more backstory!
Final Thoughts:
If you’re into dark fantasies with psychological depth and a touch of eerie suspense, The Infected Wishes is a must-read. It makes you question the true cost of desire—because sometimes, getting what you want is the worst thing that can happen.

The book started in such a dramatic way and please the drama was intense through out the book and I really liked it, the bromance special I never hoped for a bl romance so much!!
To talk about the writing style, it was very impressive honestly, writing fantasy book is no easy job according to me because there has to be actual magic in it and to get me attached to a fantasy series is no easy job!! This book was magical, there were so many worlds and surprisingly it wasn't hard to cope up with them, they were so discreetly described that the whole world was clear in my mind. And not to mention the plot TWISTS. There was a shock waiting for me at every chapter end, to say the least, it was cinematic!!
The characters were so vivid, the story didn't conclude the way it began, it ended promising a new beginning!! Yes there is a cliffhanger. And as much as I hate cliffhangers, I can jump down the clif currently to know what happens next!! The next book can't come early!!😩
There were like 5 main characters- Eshaan, Aru, Rasri, Sivi, and hari. First I'll tell you about hari!! Everybody NEEDS a friend like him, he won my heart, his courage in contagious!! And the fact he and Eshaan are such good friends is like the definition of opposites attract!! Now Aru and Eshaan, lemme tell if ever get around this book no way you'll not ship these two guys and no way you won't curse the author at the end of the book (sorry Amitesh sir). Now the girls of the book- Rasri and sivi, Idk how am I supposed to talk about them without spoilers!! But as you might be aware, I'm always up for woman dominated books! And Rasri is legit QUEEN. And Sivi, I haven't exactly comprehend how I feel about her yet, she's a mystery to say the least. Even if she was an open book type of person in the book.
To say overall I really liked this book and would recommend to every fantasy book lover, every person who likes to escape to a totally different world of magic and mystical creatures, this book is for you!!

May be! Let's get into this with me. We see nightmare sometimes right? But what if,our nightmares becomes real!! Sounds terrific? Something like this happened with the MMC, Ishaan. He had fever and fallen asleep but when he woke up he found himself in a world of dark magic. A girl named Rasri in white dress was calling him for help. When he tried to help,he found some monstrous creatures were chasing her. This book is from fantasy genre but this is not just any simple fantasy book, it's full of surprises, twist, hidden secrets.
The more you will read, you will get into the world of this along with the characters. Every page you will turn, you will want to read more. Rasri claimed to be Ishaan's wife and it shocked him truly. These two characters are also important. But let's not forget the villain, Rulan, Rasri's father.
So why this chase, why Rasri claimed to be Ishaan's wife and asking him for help and How Ishaan ended up in the world of magic, monsters, spell ,will they all survive? Too many questions right? You will find evey answers in this book. So read it to know the secrets of this unknown world. I was exited to read this book and can say it's totally worth. I enjoyed the book thoroughly. Author Amitesh has portrayed emotions, relations, secretes, mystery in a well balanced manner which make this book more interesting.
Those who don't usually real fantasy can also find this book interesting definitely. Am not a huge fan of fantasy genre but I love this book. If you are a fan of fantasy already, then grab this one and lose yourself into the world magic and ' infected wishes ' ✨🌻
A dark fantasy book filled with cursed wishes, gripping suspense, & a battle to rewrite fate!
🕯INSIGHT: The book revolves around Eshaan, whose greatest fear in life is — dying. He is always in a mode of self-preservation; when faced with danger, his response is flight, & never fight. However, an unusual fever & one night, change everything he knew about himself. Thrust headlong into a world where danger lurks at every corner, it’s time for Eshaan to either face his fear, or die a coward’s death. What will he choose?
🕯REVIEW: An ambitious fantasy fiction, the author’s writing style is definitely seasoned, displaying a strong command over the language, yet keeping it lucid for beginner-level readers. The story starts in a way that immediately grabs the reader’s attention, without beating around the bush, & once you dive into it, you will keep turning the pages to get all the answers to your questions. The narrative is fast-paced, with enough twists & turns to keep the reader thoroughly engaged, & while that is mostly a good thing, I personally felt that at times, the transitions between major events weren’t completely seamless, which was a negative. Similarly, the book transports you to a vividly imagined world, aided by fluent descriptions; however, at times, there was too much information being dumped on the reader at once, making the narrative a little less cohesive. Characterization was on the weaker side, & the ending, even if it was meant to be a cliffhanger, could have been stronger & more impactful. Overall, it is a page-turner, but could do with some improvements.
🕯STRENGTH: 1. Fluent language; good writing style. 2. Fast-paced, with enough number of jaw-dropping twists. 3. Strong climax.
🕯WEAKNESS: 1. World-building was rich, but not quite immersive due to heavy-handed exposition. 2. Absence of smooth transitions between events. 3. Ending was not to my liking.
The Infected Wishes caught me off guard in the best way possible. I went in expecting dark fantasy, but what I found was a story that felt deeply personal, layered with emotion, and impossible to step away from.
What really gripped me was Eshaan, not because he’s fearless, but because he’s not. He’s scared, uncertain, and flawed in the most human way. His fear wasn’t just about the monsters or the world around him—it was about not knowing who to trust, what was real, and how much of himself he was willing to lose to stay safe. And honestly, haven’t we all felt that way at some point?
Then there’s Rasri—mysterious, unsettling, and strangely familiar. Her connection to Eshaan is one of the most intriguing parts of the story. You want to believe her… and yet, something keeps you on edge. That constant tension made every interaction between them feel like a quiet storm waiting to explode.
The world of Groma is eerie and unsettling, but not just because of its creatures or magic. It’s the rules that unsettle you. The way good turns into evil, how infection creeps in, not just through the body, but through doubt, through fear. The world-building never feels overdone. It’s immersive but focused—just enough to keep you wrapped in its shadow.
What I loved most is how the story blends emotion with the supernatural. It never sacrifices feeling for plot twists. Every strange, terrifying moment still ties back to something raw and real—loss, trust, guilt, survival.
And the writing? Clean, direct, and emotionally sharp. No unnecessary fluff, just scenes that hit where they need to.
This isn’t just a fantasy novel. It’s about what fear can do to a person, and how hard it is to keep your sense of self when the world around you stops making sense.
If you're looking for a story that gets under your skin, not with loud scares but with quiet truths and a slow-building intensity, The Infected Wishes is absolutely worth reading.
I rarely...rarely...read fantasy. I can count the number of fanatsy books I've read on 1 hand. So when I picked up The Infected Wishes I had no idea what to expect. No idea what I was stepping into. And yet, this book? IT. BLEW. MY. MIND
I don't say it lightly.
Somehow in these pages...i found fantasy, thriller, suspense, mystery, depth, emotions...all in one place. The world-building was insane!! The pacing? So tight, so clean! Not even once i felt bored or like the story was dragging. And the writing style? So addictive! This book was a full on experience! I didn't want to blink while reading, I didn't want it to end at all. And now that it has...I'm just sitting here, processing.
The story moves across realms like it's nothing and every step of the journey feels so vivid, so intense! And the charcaters?? Don't even get me started Rasri - what a powerful, strong female lead! Sivi - absolute sweetheart Aru - a true warrior. I loved him so much it hurt (you will know🥲) Lycia (Aru's mom) - wow! Her power, her pain! She stays with me Eshaan and Hari's friendship - pure gold! Sea - Incredible queen Rulan - hate him the most!! 😡🥊
The battles...that feel so real, the heartbreaks...so raw, the choices they made...so painful and the Title! Once you understand the meaning behind this title you will get goosebumps for real!
This book deserves to be read, talked about and remembered! If there is any justice in reading world😒 this book should be on every bestsellers list and everyone's shelf! Please go read it🥹..It is soooo good!
Amitesh, what an excellent piece of work!! Thank you, thanku so much for creating this world and these characters. I'm not ready to part with them yet and I cannot wait to read what's next.
To anyone reading this, even if fantasy isn't your thing... please read The Infected Wishes🦋
Trust me. Genre doesn't matter when a story hits this deep!
I recently delved into an Indian fantasy novel that truly captivated me. From the first page, it had me hooked, and I finished it in just two days.
The story follows Eeshan, a young boy living with his grandmother. When she leaves to visit his mother, Eeshan, suffering from a fever and the effects of medication, falls asleep and wakes up in an entirely different realm. There, he meets Rasri, a girl with extraordinary supernatural powers who surprisingly needs help, raising questions about her situation.
This book offers a unique perspective in the fantasy genre, and I highly recommend it for anyone seeking something fresh. The plot is compelling, and the characters are richly developed, making it a rewarding read. The author skillfully balances magical elements with relatable emotions, creating a story that resonates deeply.
The opening is particularly gripping—Eeshan awakens alone in a locked house, realizing he’s been transported to another world. I felt his fear and confusion as if they were my own. The friendship that blossoms between Eeshan and Hari adds heart to the narrative, emphasizing the importance of bonds in trying times.
Rasri is a standout character, embodying strength and complexity. Her growth throughout the story kept me engaged and rooting for her. What truly sets this book apart is the author’s ability to blend fantastical elements with genuine emotions; despite the alternate universe, the feelings portrayed are real and impactful.
Lastly, I must mention the stunning cover art—it wonderfully reflects the enchanting essence of the story. Now that I know this is part of a series, I can’t wait for the next installment. If you enjoy fantasy with vibrant characters, unexpected twists, and an engaging plot, this is a must-read !
The month of August was solely dedicated to fantasy books for me, and none of them disappointed at all. The Infected Wishes was one of them. It created a realm that reminded me so much of The Upside Down from one of my favorite shows Stranger Things—dark, chilling, and dangerous.
At the heart of the story is Eshaan, a boy who has lived his whole life in terror. Suddenly, his life takes a dreadful turn when he's dragged into a twisted realm born out of failed magic. His fate collides with Rasri, a mysterious girl whose hidden truths changes everything for him. She drags him into a nightmarish world full of monsters.
Every character desperately struggle for survival, where Eshaan’s instinct is to isolate himself from everyone, clinging to the belief that his safety is all that matters. But in a cruel twist of fate, he is forced to confront his deepest fear, one that tests his courage and humanity to the core.
Each character in this book was written purposefully. From Eshaan’s fear-driven vulnerability to Rasri’s mystery and even Rulan’s darkness. What truly stood out to me was the intricate detailing of the world of Paranthea. The author has built this realm with such vividness and depth that it was easy to lose myself completely in its landscapes, magic, and horrors.
As for the writing style, it's simple yet impactful—it doesn’t rely on heavy language but still manages to grip you, paint emotions clearly, and keep you turning the pages. It’s the kind of storytelling that balances accessibility with imagination, making it a great read for fantasy readers of all ages.
Overall, The Infected Wishes is a darkly enchanting and thought-provoking fantasy. It’s a story of fears, trust, and survival in a world where even the purest intentions can become corrupted. Thank you Amitesh sir once again for sending a copy my way💚
I love reading books that pull me into strange, dark worlds—and The Infected Wishes did exactly that. V. S. Amitesh has crafted a fantastical, eerie, and emotionally rich story that doesn’t just entertain—it unsettles and stays with you. The main character, Eshaan, is so relatable in his fear and confusion that I felt like I was right beside him, gasping at the horrors and mysteries that unfold.
What starts as a regular life spirals into a terrifying adventure the moment Eshaan meets Rasri. Her strange powers, her secrets, and the nightmarish world she’s tied to—every chapter thickens with dread and magic. The scenes are hauntingly vivid. From flying beasts to magical cities hidden behind barriers, from mythical infections to beings born from imagination, I was constantly amazed.
I especially loved how Rasri’s internal battles mirror the grand chaos around her. The mystery of Latasa, the foreteller who could manifest thoughts, had me hooked. I kept flipping pages just to unravel what was real and what was imagined. Every twist made me pause and reflect.
This book isn’t just fantasy—it’s deeply psychological. It talks about fear, identity, isolation, and choice in the face of destiny. I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters even after the last page.
Why this book is beautiful:
It blends fantasy, horror, and philosophy with grace.
The world-building is rich, surreal, and fully immersive.
Characters feel flawed, real, and emotionally gripping.
It challenges the reader to explore the blurred line between creation and destruction.

⭐ 4/5
I need to settle myself to start with this one. That was a rollercoaster ride indeed. Or should I say... terrifying? Cuz it did feel terrific at times. I had to grab something whenever I felt the anxiety creeping up my spine.
So, the book starts with Eshaan, a young boy who was apparently suffering in silence. He felt dizzy and feverish followed by the weird dimension he gets thrown into where he finds himself to be all alone in his room with no other mortal around himself. When he decides to flee from the illusional safety of his room, he finds a woman in a blue gown running in his direction who was being chased by a horde of monstrous creatures named Movamas.
And what would one possibly do in such situations? Flee. That's right. However, things take some unexpected turns and he gets himself involved with that woman. Rasri i.e. the said woman reveals that they're in another world known as Groma. And that particular dimension expands every time Rasri fails any magical spell. And she also claims to be his wife, which threw Eshaan off the sensible track he liked to walk on.
Poor Eshaan refuses to welcome the unwanted chaos yet everything falls apart for him one by one. Soon, a few more characters get indulged namely Hari, Sivi, Aru, Lycia, Sea, Vaalem and Rulan.
As sickening as the scenario gets, the pages kept me taut like a spring. I had to gasp way too many times while reading this one and it's wonderfully written, fast paced yet intriguing. And it's worth mentioning that I loved it.
The author did an amazing job while penning this down. Magic and lives go hand in hand in this book. If you like fantasy and need a quick refreshing reading session, this one's for you.
Sometimes you pick up a book and it feels completely different from what you usually read, and that’s exactly how The Infected Wishes felt for me. It has this dark, haunting energy that instantly pulls you in, and the way the author has built the atmosphere is so unique. The writing is easy to follow, but at the same time it paints such vivid pictures that you feel like you’re walking through the eerie world yourself.
One thing that stood out to me is how much depth the author gives to the emotions. This isn’t just a fantasy about magic and monsters....it’s also about fear, courage, choices, and transformation. You can sense that every scene has layers, and that makes the book more than just a story; it feels like an experience.
The characters are not written as perfect heroes, and that’s what I loved the most. They’re flawed, unpredictable, and sometimes even frustrating, but in the best way possible because that’s what makes them real. Their struggles and their growth feel human, and I found myself connecting to that more than I expected.
The pacing is another strength....it’s engaging without dragging anywhere. The suspense is steady, and there’s always something happening that keeps your curiosity alive. By the time you’re deep into it, you don’t even realize how much the book has pulled you in.
Overall, The Infected Wishes is dark, emotional, and thought-provoking. It’s not the kind of book you just read and forget....it lingers with you, making you reflect on its themes even after you’re done. If you’re someone who enjoys fantasy with an eerie twist, emotional depth, and a story that feels truly different, then this book is definitely worth adding to your shelf.
I ENJOYED IT SO MUCHHHHH!!!!💚💚💚 THANK YOU AUTHOR FOR THIS BRILLIANT BOOK!!!🥹
Okay, time to confess I'm not really a fantasy reader. I typically avoid monsters, magic and alternate worlds. But this one sucked me in. It begins simply, with a boy named Eshaan living with his grandmother, struggling with the ordinary worries of life. And then suddenly out of nowhere, everything changes with a fever. There's this strange girl named Rasri who says she's his wife. And next thing you know, he's pulled into a world called Groma, a world that's like someone took nightmares and sewn them together. Metal and fire monsters, failed magic transforming people into something they no longer recognize… it's half terrifying and half intriguing. What kept me turning the pages was how natural everything was. I didn't have to "work" to get the world, the details just sneak in when you need them. The book never lags, each chapter closes on that annoying "oh no, I have to know what's going to happen next" feeling. The characters were another huge win for me. Eshaan is frightened and obstinate in a way that felt so true to life. Hari's loyalty was the subtle, consistent type of warmth that made me grin. And Rasri? I didn't know whether I wanted to trust her or throw her out, but she certainly left me wondering. My surprise favorite was Aru, I just beamed every time he appeared on the page. And that conclusion. Let's just say it didn't close the door, it flung it wide open for book two. I wasn't ready to leave this world yet, and now I'm waiting with bated breath for the sequel. If you've ever wanted to dip into fantasy but were put off by the huge, thick books, The Infected Wishes is the ideal place to begin. It’s fast, accessible, emotional and still gives you all the magic and monsters vibes.
•A haunting and emotional dark fantasy that grips you from the first page. The story follows from Eshaan who is a normal boy until his life changes forever after meeting Rasri, a mysterious girl. She seems quiet and strange. Slowly, Eshaan finds himself in a world that feels unreal, known as Garoma, dark forests, scary monsters and odd magical places, which is like a nightmare for him. But this strange world is not a dream. One failed spell and turned dangerous. A wish like a curse, creating an infected world of fear and pain. Read the book to know more!
•The Infected Wishes is more than a fantasy novel, an emotional and thought provoking story. The story is filled with emotion mystery and fear, it also talks about hope and healing. The author balances horror and emotion, magic and reality, giving us a tale that feels both supernatural and human. The pacing keeps readers hooked while the character depth makes the story meaningful. It’s deep, dark and thoughtful and it left me thinking long after I finished reading. I liked how the book made me feel many emotions. Sometimes I felt scared for the characters, sometimes confused and sometimes even sad. I didn’t know if Rasri was good or bad and that made the story even more exciting. The writing is clear and the plot moves quickly.
•If you enjoy books that are dark, mysterious and emotionally deep with a mix of fantasy and psychological elements, this is a perfect pick. Whether you're a beginner in fantasy or an avid reader, The Infected Wishes offers a unique reading experience that stays with you.
This book!!! What should I say!? Will you guys trust me if I say I completed this book in just one sitting and was awake all night to finish it? 😭✨ THIS BOOK is now MY EVERYTHING 😭🤌🏻 ADDING THIS BOOK TO MY FAVOURITES 😭🫶🏻
Okay, so lemme just tell you the context!!! This book is a fantasy book!!! And it talks about a city that's deadly...infected with evil souls... Eshaan had never even imagined in his life that this day would come!!! He was totally afraid when he met a girl, Rasri... he was even more confused about what was happening to him... why him... how will he save her... why would he save her... will he even be able to survive... he had so many questions... he had questions about every single thing!!!!
He cried... he had doubts... but he couldn’t escape from it... he thought it was his nightmare, but it was actually reality...🥺
Eshaan’s story is just ummmm...so intense!!! One moment he’s just living his normal life, and the next he’s in some creepy, dark realm he never even knew existed!!! And then Rasri enters....this mysterious girl with her own secrets...and she turns his whole life upside down!!! She doesn’t give him a choice… just pulls him into this wild world full of tragic, magic, witches, monsters...like WHAT EVEN!!!??? He doesn’t know who to trust, what’s real, or if he’ll ever make it back… and the worst part is He’s not even sure if he’s supposed to survive this at all 😭✨
I have truly enjoyed this book!!! I have a lot of things to say about it, but I’m really so confused about how to explain just how amazing this book was!!!✨💚
YES! The Infected Wishes left me speechless, unnerved, and unexpectedly emotional. I didn’t read this book expecting the twists I got. But the moment I turned the first page, I was sucked into Eshaan’s dreamlike and terrifying new reality.
We meet Eshaan a seemingly ordinary boy, haunted by illness and unspoken past. He lives quietly with his grandmother.. until one day, he falls ill and wakes up in a version of the world that feels almost like his own but isn't. It’s twisted, wrong, crawling with shadows that shouldn’t exist. And then comes Rasri a Mysterious & Frighteningly intense. She calls herself his wife. She pleads for protection—but from what? Why him? From that moment, everything changed.
🌪️ Why This Story: 🔹 Unpredictable, from the first page to the last: This is not a fantasy story. It doesn’t revels the whole magical world at once instead, it turns out to be like an infection. Every reveal had me whispering "wait, WHAT?"
🔹 Fear as a character: The real enemy here isn’t just the monsters or the Groma it’s the fear itself.
🔹 Friendships like fate: Eshaan’s bond with Aru, Hari, and Sivi? I adored them. Their chemistry felt real and it was so natural like they were meant to find each other in this situation. Especially Aru. Ugh. 🙈
🔹 Rasri oh, Rasri: She’s fierce, and impossible to keep down. One second I trusted her with my heart and soon I questioned everything. She’s a storm in human form.
The concept of "infected wishes" is so original. The world-building is stunning but it never clouded the characters. Some lines honestly gave me goosebumps. I also craved more detail about the magic system— Groma’s rules. It was fascinating.
