Since the death of my first husband, I know how deadly love can be…
When Theo died, I swore I would never remarry. But then I meet Parker, and I find I can’t say no to a second chance at happiness.
But after we get engaged, strange things start happening. I find Theo’s sweater hanging in the wardrobe, and his wedding band on the bathroom sink. Our old wedding album is on the coffee table, and I can smell my late husband’s cologne in the air.
Parker is sure it’s my daughter Sadie playing a practical joke, still hurting after the death of her father. But I start to wonder if it’s my in-laws, angry about my new marriage. Then I become terrified it’s something darker…
When a photo of my late husband and my daughter appears on my bedside table, her smiling face scratched out with something sharp, a shiver runs down my spine. Is someone coming for my child?
My world is crumbling. But whoever is behind this doesn’t know the lies I buried with my first marriage. They don’t know the dark secret I have hidden in the attic. And if someone is threatening my daughter, they have no idea how far I’ll go to keep her safe…
Anya Mora relies on her experience as a wife and mother to form her creative expression. Her novels, while leaning toward the dark, ultimately reflect light, courage, and her innate belief that love rewards the brave.
Great suspense. Several POVs and readers must guess who is the therapist, who is the wife, and who is behind all the magically appearing objects. The protagonist caused some of her own drama... totally get losing a child caused her to spin out, but then the affair and a quick new marriage after her husband's death. Wow! But I liked her a lot. I thought some of the time periods felt a little off, or at least when readers found out who knew what, some trickery involved. But still a great read.
Love You to Death by Anya Mora is a total page-turner! From the very first chapter, the action hooked me and never let up. I couldn’t put it down. The pacing was perfect, and the twists kept me on edge the whole time. I also absolutely loved the characters—each one felt real, complex, and brought so much depth to the story. If you’re looking for a suspenseful, emotional, and adrenaline-fueled read, this one is a must! Absolutely gripping till the end! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.
The story follows Anna as she tries to rebuild her life after losing her husband, Theo. At first, it seems like a sweet second chance at romance, but things quickly get strange
The story switches between Anna's life before and after Theo's death, with therapy notes sprinkled in from an unknown character.
The book is full of twists and turns with an amazing pace. The ending wraps everything up nicely., I predicted the ending about 70% thru but there were still plenty of shocks. If you love thrillers that grab you from the start, I recommend this one.
This book had me. It sucked me in, took a hold on me, and it didn’t let me go until I had finished the book. It is chock full of suspense, mystery, and thrills.
This book is told in alternating timelines, what is happening in the present and what happens before Theo’s death. It gives the reader a glimpse into how we got here, and it slowly gives us breadcrumbs into what happened in Anna’s past. I made a connection early on that I’m not sure everyone will make, but that didn’t take away from how great the book was at all. I still didn’t know why and I still didn’t know how it was all going to end.
I enjoyed Anna for the most part. I will say, I found it hard to accept that she moved on so fast after her husband died. Even if she was “out” of the relationship before he passed away, she had a daughter to think about also. I don’t know, it just didn’t sit the right way with me. But to each their own, and some do make that decision. She was a believable character.
The was simply fantastic. It was packed full of action and I wasn’t quite sure where the author was going to take it. I literally couldn’t stop reading it. And I loved the author’s choice with how this ended. It was the perfect ending for this book and these characters.
So, what are you waiting for – go check this one out! It’s out now!
Title: Love You to Death Author: Anya Mora Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Publication Date: June 23, 2025
I had previously read one other book by this author, which I loved, so I was excited to jump into her newest release.
This book is written from Anna's point of view and alternates between two time periods, "before Theo's death" and present.
Six months after Anna's husband, Theo, dies unexpectedly, Anna meets Parker, and a whirlwind romance begins. Just about the time Parker moves in, strange things start occurring in Anna's house. It seems as though everyone has secrets, and Anna isn't sure who she can trust.
As the twists began, I started to wonder if I should root for Anna or if I should hope that bad things happen to her. I was unsure if she was shady or a good person. Eventually, I had the "bad guy" figured out, but I just didn't know what his motive was.
All in all, this book is definitely worth your time. You won't be disappointed!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.
Another gripping psychological thriller by Anya Mora! I was immersed in this captivating story from the very first sentence until the satisfying culmination. I was flipping pages faster than I could read. Love You to Death was a psychological thriller about a woman whose husband died suddenly in a hiking accident, but she had a suspicion that his death wasn't an accident at all.
I love Anya Mora’s writing style. It is fast paced and free flowing with authentic dialogue and relatable characters. As in all of the novels I’ve read of hers, the characters in Love You To Death were remarkably flawed and terribly unreliable. There was no one point in the story that I could ascertain who was the guilty one. As a result, I was constantly guessing throughout. In addition to the fallacious characters, I loved how Mora delivered a little bit of everything in this thriller-from love to fear and grief to betrayal.
Altogether, there were a lot of scattered puzzle pieces, but Mora strategically placed each piece at the most precise time, which ultimately led to the most satisfyingly culmination. There is no question that Anya Mora has quickly become one of my favorite psychological mystery-thriller authors!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Several unreliable narrator POV means the reader is left trying to figure out who is really tells the truth in this cat and mouse story of magically appearing objects. There's loads of tricks involved and several red herrings to throw you off but you definitely have to suspend belief to get into the story but once you do that it's a wild ride. The ending was predictable but it was still a fun journey to go on. A woman who quickly gets into a relationship after the death of her husband despite the reservations of all those around her seems to be good to be true. And you know what they say about things that are too good to be true. Soon you are going down the rabbit hole of which details are relevant to the present day storyline because nothing is as it seems. If you need a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat right up to the last page. don't miss this one! Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review
Anna met a man and instantly fell in love with him 6 months after her husband’s death. Her dead husband’s items start to mysteriously appear in places she didn’t leave them in and the man she loves soon turns into someone that she fears and doesn’t know if he can be trusted.
It took me a while to get into the story but the more I read of this story the more interested I became. The story is told in the point of view of Anna and it alternates between her life prior to Theo’s death and after his death. There are also chapters that consist of notes from a therapist of one of the characters. This therapist and patients identity aren’t revealed until later on in the story. This identity revelation of the therapist was so mind blowing! I hadn’t been able to piece together who they were or their full connection to the story which was so fascinating to read about when the truth came out. Anna’s secret is constantly mentioned prior to being revealed which made me really curious about what she was hiding but at times the constant mention of the secret was a bit too repetitive.
The majority of characters were messy and I didn’t like them but their characteristics and personalities made this story really interesting.
This is the second book I’ve read and liked by this author. Her writing is captivating and I will be reading more of her books in the future.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
LOVE YOU TO DEATH BY ANYA MORA. Happy release day. 5 ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨s. I have read many books by anya and this one did not disappoint. The cover for this book is stunning. I thought I had this book figured out then bam I got side tracked again. Love anyas books they are so addictive.
When you lose your partner, you fall into a deep, dark hole. But you have to keep going, because your daughter is counting on you, and even though you're deeply grieving yourself, you try your best to help her cope with the loss too.
You swear you’ll never marry again, but apparently, Cupid has other plans…
What starts as a fairytale slowly but surely turns into a nightmare. Sometimes a frog turns into a prince, but sometimes a dream prince turns out to be nothing more than an ugly toad.
Who is behind all the strange things suddenly happening, and who is trying to manipulate whom?
I'm a fan of stories with dual timelines that switch between past and present. I found the concept of the book intriguing, and I was fascinated by Anna’s job.
The author skillfully wove emotions into the story and showed that grief is different for everyone. Sometimes it brings people closer, but other times it drives them apart. Communication is key, but apparently, it’s sometimes easier to pour your heart out to a stranger than to a loved one. Once you’ve lost your way, it’s often hard to find it again, and the grief that started it all only grows heavier.
My brain is half-cooked from all the thinking and guessing—yet I came up with nothing. I never could have predicted this ending.
A well-developed idea with a steady pace and a fluent writing style. 5 shining stars.
What starts as a second chance at love slowly unravels into something darker, creepier… and completely unexpected.
Anna, a grieving widow is just trying to hold it together for her daughter after the tragic loss of her husband. When Parker enters her life—a charming professor who seems like the perfect man—things move fast. Too fast. And soon, nothing feels right.
At first, I wasn’t totally hooked—it’s a slow burn—but the tension builds in such a subtle way that I didn’t realize how invested I was until I couldn’t stop reading and I loved the dual timelines and therapy note format
My first read by Anya Mora, but definitely not my last.
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review
Today is my stop on the book tour for Love You To Death by Anya Mora. This is my second book by this author and I absolutely loved it just like I did the first (Good Bad Mother). Love you to death is the perfect mix of suspense, drama and mystery. I felt the pace was perfect with a big crescendo at the end. Twist and turns and an ending I didn’t predict this was a five star read for me.
Six months previous Anna loses her husband Theo in a tragic accident. She thinks that she’ll never find love again but six months later, Parker enters her life. It’s a fairytale whirlwind romance, with with an engagement and soon to be wedding. Anna’s family, friends and daughter are very mistrustful and sceptical of this fast paced romance. I mean, how well can you get to know someone in six months? Is Parker really who he says he is? Strange things start happening around the house. Random objects of Theo, the dead husband, start reappearing and Anna starts to think she’s losing her mind or that someone is out to sabotage her new relationship. Could it be Sadie her daughter who’s unhappy about her mom moving on so fast seemingly forgetting her father? Is it Theo‘s parents who also think Anna has forgotten their son too quickly and is moving on and replacing him? Or perhaps it’s the maid who loved Theo and does not like Parker? Or could it be Parker‘s sister Helen who has suddenly come to live at their home? Whoever it is, Anna is terrified that her dark secrets will come to light, but she will go to extreme measures to protect herself and her daughter Sadie. She will do whatever it takes so these secrets aren’t revealed.
The story is told from MC Anna’s point of view, and in dual timelines. Before Theo‘s death and after Theo‘s death. I have read mixed reviews about MC Anna but for me, her character worked. I enjoyed the authors portrayal of her as mysterious and artsy. I didn’t agree with many of Anna’s choices and wanted to scream and shout at her at times but for me, her character was what the story needed. I thought it was brilliant how the author really made us think and question each characters intentions and morals! Personally I couldn’t figure out who to trust as each character was such an unreliable narrator and seemed flawed. In other words, everyone appeared suspect to me.
I love this fast paced psychological thriller and highly recommend Love You To Death if you’re looking for an edge of your seat, attention grabbing thought-provoking five star read. Thanks so much Bookouture for my arc of Love You To Death By Anya Mora.
Big thanks to Bookouture for a copy on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Love You To Death is a good domestic thriller. Widowed Anna is surviving everyday life with her eleven year old daughter Sadie, after the recent death of her husband, Theo. One day she meets the very handsome Parker. A whirlwind romance happens and six weeks later they are engaged. He moves in and then his sister arrives. But then strange occurrences happen. Is it Theo’s ghost or something more mysterious…. Then the secrets come out…. I enjoyed most of this but did find it a little predictable. The twist was easy to guess and the why was not so. Good characters, a steady plot and interesting premise.
Anna’s husband, Theo, has passed away. It’s been less than a year, but Anna is now engaged to Parker. Can she put all the secrets and lies from her past behind her?
Things aren’t going well for Anna. In fact, her life is falling apart. She is struggling with the feeling that that she is being watched, especially as strange things are beginning to happen within her home. Considering everything, Anna is relieved that her eleven-year-old daughter, Sadie, is spending the summer with her grandparents. However, this relief turns to fear when Anna realizes she’ll have to fight for Sadie’s safety.
As a reader who enjoys psychological thrillers, I’m not always caught by surprise. But this book was a different story. The fast-paced plot and twist after twist kept me on the edge of my seat, making it a one-sitting read. The shifting time frames also made me worried that I’d miss the author’s clever maneuvering of the twists. But wow! What a shocker!
I thoroughly enjoyed the way the author developed the characters. They were so well-crafted that they felt real, even if they were only minor characters in the story. They seemed to come to life on the page. This may be my first book by Anya Mora, but I am certain that it will not be my last. If this is the style of writing she delivers, I eagerly anticipate her next book.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Another solid 5* from Anya! She had me second guessing myself and the characters the whole time. Often when something seems too good to be true, believe that it is. "Love You To Death " is a twisty story that bounces between the past and the present with characters that aren't quite who they seem. The pages are packed with lies, love, loss and manipulation...what more do you really need than that?!
I highly recommend you grab this book today! It's currently available through Kindle unlimited. I bet you won't see all the twists coming either!
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
My second book by Anya Mora and this one was even better than the last one I read. Solid 5 star rating!
Anna and her 11 year old daughter Sadie are trying to put the pieces of their lives back together after the loss of Theo, Anna’s husband, and Sadie’s father in a terrible accident. When they run into Parker in the local park and then later at the supermarket Anna thinks fate is trying to tell her something. Parker asks her on a date and despite being a widow for just 6 months, something feels right about Parker, so she agrees. Six short whirlwind weeks later Parker asks Anna to marry him, and she’s overjoyed and says yes to him as it feels just so right despite the astonishment of everyone around Anna who feels it is way too soon to be moving on after Theo’s accident. It’s a huge adjustment for both Anna and Sadie but Anna is determined to make things work. Parker moves into their house, but then strange things begin occurring; items relating to or belonging to Theo start appearing in the house despite Anna being sure they were all put in storage. Tensions start to rise after Parker lets his younger sister Helen come and stay for a while and Anna starts to worry who she has let into her and her daughter’s life so easily. Is Parker who he says he is?! Or is Jillian, Anna’s best friend, right when she says that Parker is a stranger and Anna doesn’t really know who he is?!
Well, what a read this was! Anya Mora captured the tension in the house really well and also the grief, in the chapters describing the past year. I found the clinical notes intriguing and I didn’t catch on to who they were between and about, until the last quarter of the book. I loved the short chapters however, they made it a lot harder for me to put the book down as I kept saying “just one more chapter!” and I lost count of the many times I said that to myself. I did find myself confused and had no idea where the story was heading but I loved it as I really enjoy reading books which have plots that are totally unpredictable so I can’t guess who the dodgy characters are and how it will all end, and this one was exactly that. It was great reading, and I really liked how it all came together at the end of the book.
I would add, however, that I was very sad to read the authors note at the end of the book, and what she went through for 20 years with her then husband. I am very pleased that she managed to get out of the situation and is now raising awareness and also hopefully, helping any other women in similar situations.
Overall, this was an addictive page turner that I struggled to put down. The twists were brilliant, and I didn’t see them coming at all. I highly recommend this for any psychological thriller fans; you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for Anya Mora’s next book “The Next Wife To Die”.
Thank you to NetGalley, Anya Mora and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
Anytime a therapist is involved, you can count me in. And this did not disappoint.
A death. A widow. A new fiance. Unreliable narrators. Clues and secrets are revealed. Shocking twists. And an explosive ending. applaud Mora on this new masterpiece.
Wow. This story had me on the edge of my seat! What an incredible read! I loved the random patient notes, and then his sisters character, and her!! Some parts rendered me speechless- Wow. I was so intrigued by her miniature project, I wish there were photos of it!! The writing was excellent. The pace of the story always had my attention. I will most definitely be looking more into this author, wow!!
I really enjoyed this book as it’s one of those that keeps you guessing all the way through about who was lying and messing with this poor woman. We meet a woman who is still reeling from the death of her husband and navigating life alone with her young daughter. When a chance meeting brings a new man in her life things move fast and soon he is moving in with them but as strange things keep happening at home and her perfect man starts to appear less than perfect has she made a big mistake and is the truth darker than she ever thought possible!
Wow, what a great read. This book captured my attention from page one and had me addicted to the very end with all the twists that kept coming. It kept me up late reading, as well as reading it during every free minute. I would highly recommend this author and this book.
“Theo is gone. Parker is here. And I- I'm somewhere in between.”
Anna is wrapped with grief and guilt by the loss of her husband, but what she doesn’t expect is 6 months later she’s in a whirlwind romance.
Parker is everything she’s always wanted! But is she moving too fast? Does she truly know Parker after just a short time?
Since Parker moved in, strange things have been occurring, can Anna trust the people around her? Seems like everyone is hiding secrets but there’s something Anna is hiding as well? Find out June 23, 2025
”This is something darker, something messier. And as much as I don’t want to admit it, it feels familiar. Because I know what it’s like to play a role. And I’m not who I say I am either.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m still in disbelief!! This was such a great thriller!! I was definitely in a mood for a thriller and this did not disappoint! I was hooked right from the beginning the suspense kept you riding the wave into the mystery of it all! I loved that it would switch from past to present to get a feel of Anna’s past before she lost Theo and after. We definitely learn secrets that have been buried that slowly make their way up the cracks along the way.
This was my first book from this author and Anya definitely got me hooked on reading more her work!!
Thank you to Anya Mora, NetGalley, bookouture for the chance to read and review this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions remain my own.
Well, this was a twist that I did NOT see coming! Diabolical actually. This was a fun read full of turns that’s are completely unpredictable and with an unreliable narrator that’s hiding much more than we think.
I loved the time jumps in the book that would go back and give you more insight as you go, the story unfolds in a very unique way with bread crumbs to pick up as you try to piece together what’s really happening. It’s twisty, it’s foreboding and it keeps you guessing.
I did find getting into the story a little slow, it really does take a while for the story to build. As I was reading this was slightly off putting, but after finishing I think it was well done to set the tone for the events of the book. But at the time, it did drag a bit.
I could have done without the purposeful creating suspense sentences at the end of most chapters, it felt forced and took away from it for me. I don’t know why those types of things bother me, I’d just prefer for the story to be told without unnecessary and forced devices. I didn’t need the last sentence of chapters to be things like “I had secrets too”, “he can never find out”, and others along those lines.
Overall, it was a fun read, and I loved the unreliable narrator and the avalanche of twists at the end.
Love You to Death by Anya Mora was a book that will have you hooked at the very beginning, it was so addictive . . . . . I found it hard to put my kindle down! and I spend all day reading it until I had finished! Superb book I loved it! 💙
Since the death of Anna's first husband, she knew how deadly love could be…........
When Theo Anna's first husband died, Anna swore she would never remarry. But, things changed when she met Parker and she took the chance of having happiness again with someone new.
They got engaged, they were happy! then all of a sudden strange things started to happen. Anna found Theo's sweater hanging in their wardrobe, and then she found his wedding band on the bathroom sink.
How did they get there?
Then, their old wedding album was placed on the coffee table, Then, Anna could smell Theo's cologne in the air!!! 😯 Spooky!!!!
When Anna spoke to Parker about this, Parker, is so sure it’s Anna's daughter Sadie playing a practical joke on her mum, and she is still hurting after the death of her dad. But then Anna start to wonder if it’s her in-laws, who are very angry about her new marriage. Anna now has become terrified it’s something darker . . . . . . .

Is someone coming for Anna's daughter? 😯
Now, Anna's world is crumbling around her and she needs to find out who is doing this to her. Whoever, is behind this doesn’t know the lies Anna has buried deep about her first marriage. They don’t know the dark secret she has hidden in the attic. . . . . . . . But, do they?
But, We all know what happens to secrets that are hidden, they always have away of popping to the surface. . . . and Anna's are bubbling to the surface!!!
WoW. .. I highly recommend this book, It will keep you guessing till the very end! Superb!!
After the death of her husband, Theo, Anna has been desperate to give her teenage daughter, Sadie, a tranquil life. It’s not easy letting go of Theo, but she knows she must for her daughter’s sake. The last thing she expects is to meet another guy, but that’s what happens. Only six months after her husband’s death, she finds herself engaged to Parker. Everyone, including Sadie, thinks it’s too sudden but Anna is determined to make a new life with Parker and her daughter. Then, strange things start happening. Items belonging to Theo are left around the house. Her daughter’s picture was torn up. Anna wonders if someone is so angry about her upcoming wedding that they’d do something like this. Or maybe Sadie is rebelling against the marriage. Whatever is the reason, Anna is scared for her life as well as Sadie’s.
Talk about a page-turner. I couldn’t put this one down. I had to know how it was all going to play out. I was kept guessing until the end and I kept guessing wrong. There were so many possibilities, and everyone was a suspect in my book. I loved trying to figure it all out. The bad thing is that it caused a lack of sleep for me, but I’m not complaining.
I enjoy a good psychological thriller, and this author knows how to do it right. I’ll definitely be reading her backlist and looking for more books by her. It’s so much fun to add a “new-to-me” author to my list.
FTC Disclosure: I voluntarily reviewed a free Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
“I’m not betraying you, I promise. I’m just trying to be happy,” I whisper, to nothing, to the house, to no one.
I kept everything in, and then when it spilled out, he couldn’t handle it. It was too much at once. Maybe our life, our marriage, would’ve been different if there had been a steady river of feelings, not a dam that might break at any moment. I’m a private person, and it’s been my downfall in many ways. I lock myself up tight.
He’s always looked like he walked out of a story— effortlessly thoughtful. Strong jaw, high cheekbones, a mouth that always seems on the verge of something— wry or knowing, like he already sees where the conversation is going. His gaze cuts right through the surface and into the marrow of who you are. And those eyes— deep-set, watchful— like he’s memorizing you without ever having to try.
… love isn’t about what’s easy or what makes sense on paper. It’s about who stays. Who stands in the wreckage with you and still reaches for your hand.
My Review:
This was a slowly paced, tense, and angsty read, and as I’m not one for constant angst, this was so not my jam. The main character of Anna was nettlesome, constantly on edge, and not someone l would befriend or enjoy knowing as she seemed about to unravel, yet I wanted to know how this was going to come together. To avoid my discontent, I found it best to read this one in segments, as it was annoying me, yet I remained curious, despite wanting to give Anna a smack or ten with my Kindle. While not a realistic scenario, the last few eye-popping chapters left a skid-mark across my gray matter and made the rest worth the effort.
What starts as a fairytale quickly spirals into a nightmare in this twisty, suspenseful read. The story follows Anna, a woman still grieving the recent death of her husband in what was deemed an “accident.”
When she meets Parker, a charming psychology professor, just six months later, things move quickly. A bit too quickly. Their relationship leads to a spontaneous engagement after only six weeks. And then, the strange things begin: the scent of Theo’s cologne clinging to Parker, old photos mysteriously altered, and growing feeling of paranoia that someone is warning her.
Told from Anna’s point of view, the narrative alternates between the present and the months leading up to her husband’s death, cleverly interspersed with therapy session notes.
I loved how intentional the author was about creating suspense with the closing sentences of each chapter, and the references to the mysterious secret in the attic, adding an extra layer of tension to the plot.
Now, I have to say that the beginning was a bit too slow for me. I wasn’t sure where it was going at first, and it took some time to settle into the story. But once it picked up,it was so good. In hindsight, that slow start actually helped build the tension. It just didn’t feel that way in the moment.
And that ending? It packed all the punches. Creepy, twisted, and full of surprises. This was my first read by Anya Mora, and I’m definitely going to be reading more of her work soon.
Many thanks to Bookoture for the opportunity to read the ARC copy via NetGalley.
This was one of those books that did a total flip flop for me. The pace extremely accelerates in the last quarter of the book where everything that starts to explode. Don’t get me wrong, not every book I read has to be totally exciting. But this one just always seemed like it was missing something for me… Until the last 25% then that’s when it seemed to explode into something better.
This book brought out a lot of emotions in me. Not necessarily good ones… But emotions. I love a book that can bring about that much emotion in me even if sometimes they are negative.
I really never connected to Anna, the main character. I liked her best friend Jillian and Anna's 11-year-old daughter Sadie. I really wanted to like Anna. I didn’t hate her but she just annoyed me. I felt like she didn’t stand up for herself enough. But through the whole book she did stand up for her daughter Sadie. And that I do admire in a Mom. I found myself yelling at Anna much more than I was reading about her. On the other hand, there’s a reason for everything, and we don't find out the reason until the last quarter of the book.
Even though at times it was super slow and I kept waiting for something to happen, it was enough to keep me reading and keep me wanting more. I do feel like it was a good, worth while read and ending up liking it in the end.
This is my second book by Anya Mora. Here is my review for GOOD BAD MOTHER - HERE. I would recommend and would read more by this author. :-)
Thank you Bookouture/Storyfire Ltd for sending me this book for my honest review.
Anna is a grieving widow after losing her husband in what was ruled a tragic accident. Just trying to keep her daughter and herself together is taking a toll. But when 6 months after her husband's death she meets Parker, she is swept off of her feet. Parker is everything Anna wants, charming, kind and handsome and they begin a whirlwind romance. But it seems like things are moving too fast. Soon strange things start to infiltrate Anna's second chance. Her late husband's things start showing up around the house, her teenage daughter is spiraling into grief, and Anna feels like she is always being watched. Has Anna's past come back to haunt her?
This dark and twisty read kept me guessing! Just when I had thought that I had figured everything out, Mora switches it up and pulls you in another direction. The pacing is steady after an initial slow beginning, but it soon ramps up the tension and you get sucked in. Anna as our main character was an unreliable narrator so it was hard to figure out her motivations which made the twist hit harder. Overall a solid domestic thriller that I would recommend to fans of Lucy Foley and Nicole Trope!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Anya Mora, and Bookouture for this ARC! Publication date is June 23rd 2025.
This book absolutely wrecked me—in the best, most twisty way!! It’s a haunting, gripping, and emotionally charged psychological thriller that pulled me in fast and never let go. I thought I knew what I was getting, and then the rug ripped out from under me. Again. And again. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out? Nope. Try again.
Anna is grieving the death of her husband Theo while trying to move forward with her new fiancé, Parker. But something isn’t right. Parker seems perfect on the surface—but behind closed doors, the gaslighting, manipulation, and cracks in their picture-perfect life begin to show. As strange events start piling up, Anna begins questioning not only Parker’s version of reality, but her own. Add in her daughter Sadie, Parker’s suspicious “sister”, and you’ve got a story full of tension & betrayal.
The story delivers a slow-burn suspense that builds beautifully. The short chapters kept me flying through pages, and the emotional depth made it impossible to look away. I felt every moment of doubt, fear, grief, and strength. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist knocked me sideways. Dark, sharp, and deeply satisfying—this one is absolutely going on my favorites shelf.
