My troubles all started with a beautiful boy on the beach...

Leaving my friends and home during senior year to move to Florida sucks, but when my dad decides to marry his long-distance girlfriend, I have no choice.

My first night in Bipal is full of booze and bonfires, and a blue-eyed boy with adorable glasses and a charming smile.

Footsies in the sand lead to a walk down the beach, and by the end of the night, I'm a changed girl.

The next morning, I come downstairs to find my blue eyed boy sitting at the kitchen table.

We make a pact to leave what happened between in the past. But stolen glances across the kitchen, grazed pinkies in the hall, bumped knees at the dinner table...

Pretending I don't want Reed Lancaster is the hardest thing I've had to do...

You're not supposed to fall in love with your step-brother...

But what if two pink lines are involved?

Update: added my rating on Sept 5th

I'm going to refrain from giving this one a star rating at this time. This book just wasn't for me and I don't feel right about slamming it for that. I truly didn't do my own homework on this one. I saw the authors name and cover and I jumped on it. So that's my bad.

However, I will say that there weren't any CWs that I could see and maybe that's just because it was an ARC, as Daisy Jane usually has very detailed warnings available. There was some things I might have liked to know ahead of time.

I also do NOT understand the heroine in this book. I was throwing up my hands and wanting to throw my kindle at every turn. She truly made no sense to me. Which made it hard to get on board with her. I just didn't see anything connecting her to this hero except lust. This goes both ways but honestly, the heroine was the main offender here.

She was so hot and cold and really stonewalled the hero when she discovers his identity. It was just unnecessary. It was novella length, so there's that... but still, I expected a bit more I guess? Because it also wasn't really unhinged in the kinky factor, which is something Daisy Jane isn't afraid to do.

Overall, the taboo of a "stepbrother" isn't even a thing until the end, so it's all hypothetical. I was just bored and angry at the same time.

3.5 on the spice scale

Just as she’s about to start her senior year, Vivienne Beaumont and her father pick up and move to Florida as he prepares to remarry.

Ready to shed her pesky virginity, when she meets the sweet and sexy Reed Lancaster, she knows he’s the perfect one-night-stand. Seeing him at breakfast was, however, not part of the plan.

Forbidden romances are one of my favorite tropes, but they’re also hit or miss for me. This one hit just right, save some OW/OM drama. I loved Viv and Reed’s hearts and also the way they were drawn together like magnets. Their parents’ reaction was my favorite ever in a stepbrother romance!! ❣️

Wtf did I just read?

It started promising. Step siblings without being aware of this connection, sneaking around, lust, basically a forbidden guilty pleasure.

Then it went downhill fast. They both wanted to move on with OP, because they can’t be together because of their parents. She’s ready to have blindfolded sex with some douche canoe, but that’s actually the H sneaking in the room instead. Okay, going from a virgin to having a ONS on the beach with a stranger (H) to willing to do the horizontal tango with another guy she doesn’t know (OM) not long after. It makes zero sense.

But it gets worse. Both step into a relationship with OP. The h with a guy she doesn’t have sex with, but she gave him a hand job and he fingered her, all off page. Then the H turns up with his girlfriend (OW). Both couples are watching a movie together. The why of it is still going through my mind when the following clusterfuck begins. The OM starts fingering the h. The H sees and starts fingering the OW. The h and H are eye f¥cking each other in the meantime. Then both ladies cum, the h eyes on the H and the H eyes on the OW. What the actual F ??? Then the h runs upstairs upset, the H follows and they get intimate when both their partners are downstairs. Sure, makes perfect sense. At least the H washed his hands, how thoughtful of the author to conclude this minor detail.

Although the h didn’t have penetrative sex with OM, I can’t say the H was celibate. It’s not mentioned and very annoying because it’s dual POV. But he’s with the OW in his room for three hours with the door closed. I’m sure they weren’t playing chess. Then the H appeared with tousled hair and breath reeking of mouthwash. Another thoughtful detail the author added. Because if we weren’t sure where his mouth has been those past three hours, we sure do now. 🤮

Then there’s a miracle pregnancy, so unexpected when they only have unprotected sex without pulling out or plan b. Then all of a sudden they are in a relationship, going public and getting married. The end.

What about the girlfriend OW? She isn’t mentioned again, no mention of him breaking up with her. I even searched her name in the entire book in case I missed this detail. But nope, she vanished like magic. So great the author missed this but makes great effort to let us know about those other gross details about the H.

The Sleepover was such a quick and fun read, and chock full of my favorite tropes—stepsiblings, forbidden romance, accidental pregnancy (it’s a guilty pleasure, don’t judge me!).

If you’re looking for an easy read with lots of steam, this will do the trick!

did I wish it was longer? yep, but it's a novella so it's quick paced, hot, and taboo. I loved it, especially the HEA 🫶

a true "just one more time" and "no we can't, but maybe we can" back and forth 🤭

DNF @ 50%. I like Daisy Jane books when they’re particularly unhinged, and this was more standard NA contemporary with a touch of taboo because they didn’t realise they’re stepbrother/stepsister. It wasn’t bad, but also not for me!

Thank you to The Smuthood and Daisy Jane for this arc in exchange for an honest review

Vivienne wants to lose her v-card. The only problem is that she’s moving across the country with her dad so he can marry his girlfriend. She ends up meeting Brooke while shopping. Brooke invites her to a bonfire later that night. Vivienne is determined to lose her v-card tonight. On the plus side it’s with someone who gives her butterflies.

I do wish they had cute nicknames for each other. I do feel bad that Vivienne had to leave her friends during her senior year of high school. Vivienne meeting Brooke was perfect. She needed a good friend to help her open up. That night at the beach with Reed was magical. When it’s your first time drinking you should never over indulge to the point where you can’t remember how you got home. I do wish there was more. The ending came so fast and not enough was said. I needed more context to things. It’s still a very good story.

As an avid reader of Daisy's books, I was extremely let down by this one.

I signed up for this ARC ages ago with Chaotic Influencers. Honestly, I forgot about it until I got an email with the cover reveal.

Everything about the book called to me. Accidental pregnancy? Heck yes. Step-siblings? Yum. Angst? GIVE ME MORE! While it did deliver on all of those, it lacked Daisy's normal level of writing.

I knew going in that it was a novella and that the MCs were both really young. With the length of the book and the immaturity of the characters, it didn't give me what I was searching for. I hated how much the book jumped forward. I get that it was a novella, but I couldn't even remotely get a chance to like the characters, much less love them.

While this one wasn't for me, it may appeal to a different audience!

Okay hear me out. A super cute, quick, spicy, taboo romance with step-siblings (one with her V) and accidental baby? Trust me, it works!!

At this point I should not be the least bit shocked that Daisy Jane could nail all these tropes together. She delivered!

This novella sets around Vivienne and Reed, who fall hard and fast for each other before finding out that their parents are getting married. They swear to end it and stay away, but the heart wants what it wants.

There is so much emotion in this book, and a little twist that had me just about devastated. Even though it's a short read, I was hooked on them from the first chapter. My only complaint is that it's not longer!

Okay Miss Daisy I was unfamiliar with your game! This book was fast, not plot heavy, and a delicious palate cleanser. Reed and Viv being obsessed with each other had me giggling and kicking my feet, the smut was great, and the HEA had me smiling so hard.

Anything by Daisy Jane is an automatic yes for me. I devoured this one so quickly! Vivienne moves across the county when her dad is remarrying. She has always been a good girl and decides to throw caution to the wind when meeting some new friends her first weekend there. Losing her virginity was definitely the plan but waking up the next morning to find out that it was with Reed her new stepbrother definitely not!

Tropes:
small town, insta love, stepsiblings, forbidden/we can’t, nerdy but hot mmc, virgin fmc, accidental pregnancy

Thoughts:
This was a very quick burn novella that delivered on the insta love. Vivinne and Reed have a very (like super sonic) love connection after meeting one evening and then “making love” on the beach. They both try and fight their “insanely heavy” connection when they realize they’re about to become stepsiblings.

I actually really liked how much they worried about their parents’ happiness and lives with all this because usually that’s thrown out the window in stepsibling books! But their parents (both millionaires though that really does not matter lol) are both super great people so it was nice to have that for a change.

Was there much of a plot besides the back and forth “we can’t do this” and “just one more blow job”? Well, no. Lol but sometimes that’s all a girl wants to read!

Only downside is I’m a big fan of the accidental pregnancy trope and we really only got that specific aspect for like the last third of the novella.

Personal note: 2.5 stars really, I'd try the author one more time.

This was a short step-sibling book where the MC's meet and hook up before they realize they are step-siblings. What I did like was the characters had good chemistry and for once, the parents were super cool really. Both the MC's got along with their step-parents and actually liked them and that's so rarely done in step-sibling books. It actually made their reasoning for not wanting to disappoint them make sense. Also, when the step-parents find out, they are actually really cool about everything(Beside the dad's initial reaction) and handle it in a mature and rational way.

NOW! Sounds good, Lori. Why make this a 2.5 star? 3 words:

Ugh, it really ruined the whole book, IMO. When the main characters discover that they're going to be step-siblings, the FMC freaks out and they decide they HAVE to get over each other. Of course this fails repeatedly until dudes food friend is like "What you need is to go out and get laid!" and chicks friend is like "What you need is another dick!" 🙄🙄🙄 This is why I hate characters having best friends, they always push the WORST advice. So they're both still in love with each other and instead of just dealing with those feelings, they both decided they're going to just bring other people into their messy bullshit. I was thinking maybe they would just go to the dance, realize they couldn't keep away from each other and say fuck it. The H does this, he tries to flirt, but just keeps thinking about the h, then he's in the bathroom and hears 3 fuck boi's talking about these chicks they're going to nail and realizes one of them is the FMC and devises a whole plot on the spur of the moment, disparaging the h and her friends completely, sneaking into her room and pretending to be the other dude. So wrong in so many ways 🙄 The h realizes it's the H after he goes down on her. Soooo she was cool letting some other boy go down on her, yuck. Anyways, they have a big fight about it, where the FMC says she has to really say goodbye and then there's a 2 month time jump where you find out she's been dating the asshole from the party for the last two months and he's actually this really great guy who respects her boundaries and is okay that she's not ready for sex, ect. Rigggght, I'll just throw that in my "just go with it" box. Meanwhile, the H in retaliation gets his own chick and we have no idea if he has sex with her or not, but we're told that they are alone in his bedroom with the door closed for hours at a time, soooo whatever, just all the yuckiness there. But what REALLY sends me over the edge is the h finds out she's pregnant and her plan is to get Mr. Good-guy string-a-long to MARRY her 18 year old ass WHILE she's pregnant with another dudes baby and she isn't even in love with him! She's 100% planning on using him! She really planned on leaving baby daddy high and dry while she golddiggers her way as a NFL WAG. The fact she actually thought that would work is hilarious. She really thought her presence, not even her pussy, because she hasn't had sex with OM, was good enough to get an 18 YEAR OLD NFL hopeful to marry her and raise her baby she made with her step brother. Girl isn't just the princess, she's the motherfuckin' queen of delulu land. So even assuming she could do all that, she's 💯 in love with the H and her boyfriend, who she cheats on several times with H, is completely oblivious to the fact she's using him. The only way this falls through is the H, he flat out says "I'm telling them, I'm not going to let another man raise my baby" Hallelujah! At least one of you finally is showing some brain activity! And what do you know? Mom and Pops happen to be listening outside the door, so now he doesn't even have to tell him, they already know. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Of course it all works out and they get married at 18 with a kid 😂 That part, I knew ahead of time, so it is what it is. Overall it was a quick, mostly entertaining read, but the other people drama and the h's selfish decisions to try to cover up her mistakes definitely left a damper on an otherwise fun read.

I had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC, I finished this the first day it was emailed, but I’ve had to sit on this to contemplate what I was going to rate this, because I had mixed feelings.

So let me start by saying that;
📕 Step-Siblings
📕 New City
📕 Virgin
📕 Pregnancy

What could go wrong when Vivienne moves to a new city with her father to move into his fiancées house, where she has a son, who Vivienne meets the day she makes some new friends, goes to a beach bon-fire and sexual tension between one of the boys? To find out the next morning, the guy she lost her virginity to and fell for in a night, is actually her step brother….. what now?

I absolutely ate up this book, I love these tropes, I love taboo, the chemistry between the FMC and MMC is undeniable. They made me fall inlove with love. The spicy was delicious, But I was really left wanting more from this , I got emotionally invested and attached to the story and characters very quickly thinking this story was going to take me on a journey, maybe even some obstacles, besides them trying to avoid each for weeks/months it felt really too straightforward for this kind of plot (not that there is anything wrong with that, I think that’s I just seen the tropes and thought more twists and turns, more heartbreak, longer acceptance), and how did Viv tell Murray? How did Reed tell his girlfriend? reading other reviews some have stated this was a novella, but I have read novellas that have been a bit longer than this and had enough detail that didn’t leave you wondering about too much of their story. in saying that though, is the ending up for interpretation from the reader instead? If so, then it’s definitely worked. I REALLY wanted to give this a high rating, just for the way this story and characters got me invested so quickly, even the tropes alone. I haven’t read anything by Daisy Jane before, so this one was my first introduction to her writing style.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this book/novella (whichever it’s meant to be), just for me personally i felt it had a lot more potential. I still loved it, I will also read from this author again, and I will also still purchase this book when available. This rating reflects my personal view.

Thank you The Smuthood and Daisy Jane for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Number of Pages: 176 (Kindle version)
Synopsis:
Right before Vivienne is set to start her senior year her dad informs her that they are moving to Florida so that he can marry his long distance girlfriend Maribel. Vivienne, rightfully so, is not too thrilled about this, but she wants her dad to be happy, so she agrees to move to Florida with little to no fight. When they get there her soon to be step mother decides that they need to take Vivienne shopping for stuff for her room. While out she meets a girl about her age named Brooke who offers to show her around the town since she’s new. They wind up meeting up with some of Brooke’s friends, one of which is Reed. Reed and Vivienne have sex on the beach that night. The next morning Vivienne goes downstairs for breakfast and to meet her new stepbrother and lo and behold Reed is sitting at the table and is her new step-brother. They try to fight their feelings for each other and even go so far as to date other people, but at the end of the day they can’t resist each other and wind up hooking up a couple more times.

🚨🚨🚨SPOILERS🚨🚨🚨
I absolutely loved this book EXCEPT for the fact that Vivienne finds out that she is pregnant with Reeds baby (he is the only person she has slept with) but she is going to tell her boyfriend that she is pregnant because she knows that he will marry her and take care of her and she isn’t going to tell Reed. Reed finds out anyway and they wind up getting together. When i read that she was going to tell Murray that she was pregnant, and yes he would obviously know that it wasn’t his because they never had sex, but because she knew that he was NFL bound and an overall good guy and therefore he would take care of her, I was absolutely disgusted with the character and had to put the book down and walk away for a little while before I could finish it.

The Sleepover is a part of the Clear View Country Club anthology series with a bunch of different series. Daisy Jane’s book is a spicy, stepsibling romance. I am a sucker for stepbrother romances, so I was excited to read this.

Vivienne’s father is getting married to his long-distance girlfriend and moves her across the country during her senior year of high school. She has always been the good girl, but she makes some friends her first night and ends up losing her virginity to the nerdy and sexy college student, Reed. Later, she realizes he is actually her future stepbrother.

They are very attracted to each other, but they decide they can’t be together since they don't want to ruin their parents' relationship. Most of this novella is centered around their sexual interest with no further emotional connection. Then they constantly hook up and then say this is the last time.

My main issues come from the 3rd act and how Vivienne handles her accidental pregnancy. Her actions were pretty stupid and immature. I also felt like they could have just been together. Their parents were not married yet and would probably stay together even though they got involved.

Thank you to Chaotic Creatives for providing the ARC.

I love a good taboo step siblings romance but I’ve never read one with a surprise pregnancy. The plot was pretty good, I loved the start and the scene where she goes to the kitchen the next morning and oops, guess who’s there?!? There’s quite a bit of tension but it’s also really sad, because it’s clear they really want to be together but they don’t want to hurt their parents’ new relationship. But in my opinion all the times they did the “this is the last time” got a little annoying. I feel like the surprise pregnancy part would have been impactful had it not been already stated in the blurb. They have lots of chemistry and I think they’re a great couple. I really loved Reed, he’s cute and charming and a flag that’s greener than grass. But I honestly just couldn’t get around Vivienne. I get that she did what she thought was right at the time and she was adapting to her new life but the decisions she were going to make were terrible, ones that only a completely shitty person would make. And poor Murray! She was just stringing poor Murray along when he genuinely loved her. So yeah having a terrible fmc kind of brings down my review score a little bit. It still was a fun read, and I give it a 3/5

This was a very specific vibe. It was a that young kinda dumb love where everything is just the end of the world.

I very much enjoyed that it made me have to totally change gears mentally to put myself in the 18-20 year olds kinda love/drama headspace. It was a little like watching a horror movie where you are yelling at the characters to not continue making the obvious terrible choices! Yes could 90% of the conflict be resolved with everyone sitting down and having a conversation, sure but the fun and drama is in the journey.

Forbidden-ish (a mix of step fam and a dash of mistaken identity)
Bad choices 😂😂😂
Surprise Preg
Making each other jelly with other partners (I personally love this and it felt exactly true to the characters at this point in their lives…all hormones and dumb decisions!)

Overall I had a good time. check the themes because there are a few in here that just piss people off to no end.

This was a really cute and quick read for me. It checked all the boxes for me: step-sibling, taboo, and forbidden romance.

Vivienne, this is her last year in high school, and her father decides to move them across the country to Florida. Where she'll be spending her senior year in a new place, new school, and meeting new people. It wasn't what Vivienne's father, Elijah, wanted, but that is where his long-distance girlfriend, Maribel, is from. Upset and excited at the same time, Vivienne meets a friend while shopping, Brooke could tell she was new and offered to take her around town and meet her friends. While out Vivienne meets a guy, Reed, who she is very attracted to and not knowing he will be more to her, than when they met.

"She's infiltrated me like a virus and now I can't seem to function without her."

This was my first Daisy Jane book that I have read and I really enjoyed it.

Vivienne is in her senior year at a private school when she learns that she will be moving to Florida because her father is getting married and that is where her father’s fiancé has a business at.

She meets a girl name Brooke and she shows Vivienne around town and takes her to a beach party where she meets Reed a handsome man who is really into Vivienne they go away from the party so they can get to know each other better and they have a great night together.

The next morning she finds out that Reed is actually her soon to be step brother he just uses a different name that what his given name is. They just can’t resist each other regardless of them going to be soon to be step siblings as they see where things go with each other. I really enjoyed seeing where there story went.

Daisy Jane is one of my favorite authors, and when I saw the cover, I was instantly sold (sue me - I judged a book by its cover!)

❤️One night stand
❤️Step siblings
❤️Virgin FMC
❤️Accidental pregnancy
❤️High school/early 20s aged MCs

Vivienne is starting her senior year of high school, but it is looking a little different than expected. Her dad has fallen in love and they are moving to be with the new stepmom and stepson.

So when Viv befriends another local teen, she instantly tags along to a local party that night. Where she meets a boy named Reed and their attraction is instant. They have one amazing night together, until they find out that they are about to be step siblings. Step siblings who are about to be parents themselves.

This book is a quick read featuring forbidden love between new step-siblings, accidental pregnancy, forced proximity, and plenty of spicy scenes. It's part of the Clear View Country Club series, but this and all the other books can be read as complete standalones.

For me, this book was ok. Its fast pace and shortness didn't leave much time for a stronger relationship between Reed and Vivienne. It just felt kind of rushed and lacked any deep feelings. They came off as nothing more than exceptionally horny young people. They never really talked about anything worthwhile to form any feelings, so for them to be so in love with each other just seemed immature. Plus, some of the things they said/did/thought were a bit cringeworthy.

I enjoyed the tropes, side characters, and setting. I just wish there would've been more of a connection between Viv and Reed. I wanted the relationship to be more fleshed out. The whole book was just them wanting to bang but "oh no, we can't do that" and "just one more time and then we'll stop". It got old pretty fast.

Vivienne is forced to give up her senior year and move accross the country for her dads happiness. It’s all good she can fake a year of happiness for her dad right?!

What she didn’t expect was her step brother. And how he made her see happily ever after with him. Will her family accept her love or will they be against her loving her step brother?

This is a sweet relay short little love story! I enjoyed reading it and loved how Reed was all in for her!!

2.75 rounded up to 3. I liked the premise of the book, but I wanted more in some areas and a lot less in others. If you like taboo romances, this might be for you. I’m 50/50 on them and wanted to read more so thought this would be great. I wanted more character development, but it’s also a very short & quick read, so I get it. There were two scenes that I really did not like. The first one being the scene in the suite… if you read it, you know. The second I won’t say because I don’t want to spoil anything, all I’ll say is movie night… felt so cheesy and gave me the ick. I did enjoy the friendships in here and wish I saw them more. Overall not bad for a short read, but also not one that will stick out to me.

Vivienne’s abrupt move across country to live with her Dad and his new fiancée becomes complicated when the boy she met on the first night turns out to be her new stepbrother, Reed.

This is a steamy, quick read and you might pull your hair out with some of the decisions our FMC makes. She really makes a mess of it while trying so hard to keep everyone happy. BUT the MMC makes up for it when he fights for their future.

Thanks to Smuthood for sending me the ARC of The Sleepover by Daisy Jane in exchange for an honest review.

Taboo, step-siblings and accidental pregnancy?! I couldn’t sign up fast enough!!

This is a quick steamy read that will have you falling for the nerdy bad boy. I loved the chemistry Reed and Vic had when they were together.

However, I’m conflicted. I know it’s a novella but there were some big time jumps and the plot is so good and I would’ve loved to get more of their story and what happens next for them. But they do get their HEA so I’m happy, overall🖤

What to expect…
•step-siblings
•virgin FMC
•Taboo
•sneaking around
•accidentally pregnancy

Deliciously steamy and a love story all in one! The Sleepover is a taboo step-siblings trope, one of my personal faves!! Reed and Vivienne meet on her first night in a new town, not knowing who they are to each other and poof, insta-lust/love! How will they navigate these waters when they figure it out? Pick this one up now! This was my first time reading this author and definitely will not be my last!!

This was short. But, overall I enjoyed it. Thank you to the Smuthood for sending me the arc!

Viv and her dad move to FL with his soon to be new wife and her son. Viv meets a friend while out seeing Bipal for the first time. Brooke takes her to a party. Viv loses her virginity at the party.

Tropes:
• step siblings
• pregnancy

Will be reading more of Daisy Jane’s work!

The Sleepover - step siblings, forbidden love, surprise pregnancy. This novela was such an easy, entertaining read. I find a lot of novelas hard to get into because there isn’t enough detail but this wasn’t like that. I enjoyed the whole thing. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer!
