I learnt a lot about myself from this book and it really opened my eyes to behaviours that I was doing or allowing subconsciously. The author has put a huge amount of care into the book through years of research and experience. Their words are both reassuring and realistic. I like how they explain that, although healing is a journey and not a quick fix, change is truly possible.
The author takes a balanced approach, exploring many possible reasons for anxious attachment, including childhood, generational patterns and neurology. The language is professional, yet easy to understand for a novice. There are also lots of advice and techniques, such as breathing and grounding techniques, that can be integrated into daily life.
The book has given me a push to develop my self-compassion and reframe my negative self-talk. I'll definitely be checking out the resources they recommend and recommending this book to others.
