The Fourth has the most advanced ship in space, the most highly qualified crew in the Fleet and powerful alien friends. They also have fun, revelling in the joy of exploration and adventure.

I am a primary school teacher living in Cardiff, Wales, UK. I live in a tiny house full of books, animals, rocks and fossils.

I love travelling by myself because you get to meet more local people that way. My favourite trips so far have been ice fishing in the arctic circle, the Canadian Rockies in winter and camping with my sister in Devon (Every bit as adventurous!)

I have been writing stories since I was a kid but have only recently taken the plunge into publishing. I've also recently started a science fiction review site http://www.starshipsandaliens.com which is nearly as much fun as writing.

Great

A wonderful addition to a series that is fascinating. Well written characters that have you interested in their histories and events they're currently going through. Military science fiction that's not only action but covers a wide range of issues. So well written the reader could believe that they were seeing past , present and future events. Can't wait for the next books. May this series by an author who is a superb writer continue for many years more.

Not as good as the rest of the series. A huge amount of regurgitation from prior volumes. Much more than necessary to bring new readers up to date. While the denouement was a surprise, the amount of babble to get there was a slog. Dare I say, padding to stretch the story into an entire volume; rather than a short story? Much looked forward to, and, a letdown

The author has always over explained everything, but this seems to have increased in the last few books, the author just really likes words and seems to uses as many as possible, even when they get in the way of actually telling the story. At times the repetitive descriptions and explanations are totally unnecessary and ignore the reader's own common sense and imagination.

Brilliant as usual

I've said it before, if you like your sci-fi a little more ... high brow than normal you will love Ms Macdonald's books. There are no space wars or violence, so if that's your bag, don't bother.
Start at book 1, you won't regret it.

Well the fourth have been tasked to visit the Marfik, but they and the rest of the new conclave are in for a shock. One that no one expected. Great book recommended series.

Marfik

This book is up to the high standard of the rest of the series, couldn't put it down as felt drawn in to the story and characters. Looking forward to the next book and see where Von Strada and the Fourth fleet irregulars take me.

Awesome Series

This story of a group of Fleet who are asked to do the impossible and keep finishing their task. Of course some love them and others hate them.
