The Proprietress Lana Maven made hard choices in a life filled with heartbreak and tough knocks. The last thing she needs is the small-town mayor’s continued attempt to shut down her adult night club—even if she secretly thinks the man is infuriatingly sexy.
The Mayor Mayor Connor Stevens longs to create a vibrant community, which means Lana’s club has to go. Even though the red-haired siren ignites his secret desires and cravings, he vows to shut her down.
When Enemies Become Lovers… As the fight between them intensifies, Lana and Connor realize they have more in common than meets the eye. Giving in to their emotions is dangerous, for a future between them is impossible…
Can two enemies from vastly different worlds truly find happiness?
If you love sultry romance with a dominant hero and sassy heroine, this story is for you!
The book in the Dirty Job Series I did not have high hopes for has been my favorite yet.
The Proprietress had me head over heels in love with her before she even slept with the Mayor. Their chemistry only made me love her even more. She was such a strong woman, who wasn't afraid to be submissive to the right man.
Not going to lie the Mayor ticked me off A LOT! I get the moral of the story; I get it is what you do for love. It still made me mad.
Even then, their love was undeniable. It was a gravitational pull that could not be denied. Once they got over hating each other everything else became crystal clear.
Victoria Silk has a new fan in me, and I can't wait to finish up The Dirty Jobs series and see what else she has to offer.
The Proprietress and the Mayor is easily one of the best in the series so far right up there with book one. When I first started this series years ago, I had no idea how far it would go, but I’m honestly so happy with how it’s progressed.
Mayor Connor starts off as such a goody two-shoes, convinced everything Lana does is illegal and completely debaucherous. Meanwhile, the two of them fight their attraction for years, stumbling through a few mishaps along the way, some tension, a little violence, and definitely a few tears.
But together? They’re electric. Two ridiculously attractive people, completely unaware of just how obsessed they are with each other, falling hard and fast once they finally give in. What starts as a secret affair could ruin Connor’s career and completely break Lana’s heart… until we’re blessed with a truly satisfying HEA.
Seriously… why was this book so amazing?!.

Wow, this book was awesome! Victoria Silk has a way with words, which makes you feel like you are there in the moment and writes the characters so you can picture them. I liked the storyline/plot: Lana Maven is the owner of a legal strip club who hired single mothers that danced and bartended and former convicts as bouncers, and Connor Stevens was the do-gooder town mayor. They had a mutual dislike (but secretly in love with each other) and verbally attacked each other as Connor did everything he could to shut her business down. I enjoyed their snarky banter. You think the story is going to be the predictable enemies become lovers plot, and it was to an extent, but the author tweaked the norm and made it her own. It was also a love story that takes some time to come to fruition. It also covered the plight of single moms and former convicts and how hard society can be for them.
I was a little disappointed in the initial hypocrisy of Connor and the way he snuck around to spend intimate time with Lana. He wanted the town to see him as a pious and good man with good morals. He was a good civil servant that went to church every week and did an incredible amount of volunteer work. But behind closed doors, Connor was a dirty talking dominant. I thought the story was well-written and it kept me eagerly turning the pages/listening to the story. Besides the spicy moments, there were also some serious moments about living wage/minimum wage, illegal activities in strip clubs, parolees not able to find jobs. It was refreshing to have a spicy hot story involving older characters.
Ri Page, the narrator, delivered an outstanding performance with her sultry voice, character distinction, pacing and rhythm, and emotional delivery made the book even more enjoyable. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and think the excellent narration added to the experience for me.
It's been a while since I've listened to a Victoria's Silk audiobook and I remember why I liked them so much in the past. The spice is high and she's able to concisely create depth in each of her characters to fit in compact storylines. The mayor really needed to pull his head out of his butt for the majority of this story and I'm glad he did in the end. This story really does reflect how conservative folks can sometimes be very closed minded and disregard many of the teachings of the churches they attend. The FMC has ovaries of steel and is definitely MVP of this story. I loved her character and her approach to sexuality. The final sex scene is extra hot 🔥. The narrator did an excellent job! Overall it's a fun story and is a nice spicy pallete cleanser. I'm appalled that Amazon banned Victoria's books because I've definitely read much darker and heavier erotica on that platform. All the more reason to buy direct from the author!
The Proprietress and the Mayor is super spicy and all kinds of awesome! Lana is a bold and brave woman who has built a thriving business from the rubble that is her past, and the owns her life like the boss she is. I loved her character and passion, her desire to help others, and her beautiful shining light. The chemistry between her and small town mayor Conner is electric. Their hate to love you vibes explode every time they are in each other’s orbit. Connor definitely needed a reality check, and I adored the moments when they hit him full force. He learns some big lessons in this ultra spicy, mildly kinky love story.
Narrator Ri Paige delivered another brilliant performance with her soothing voice and impassioned delivery. She elevated each moment of this story with fierceness and fire. Loved it!.

Audiobook review. A sexy story about finding love and being brave enough to fight for it. Lana and Connor have been fighting each other and their attraction for years but one-night changes everything. These two are hot together and there is no denying how well they fit together. Although Connor is not one of my favorite characters in this series. He does mend his ways but it was hard to like him as much as other men in the Dirty jobs series. He is one that wants things both ways and ignores the pain it causes. I do love Lana and her strength and how she stands her ground no matter what. Their story moves at a good pace and it has a good amount of emotions in it. Narrator Ri Paige does a nice job of keeping the story flowing and bringing the emotions to life.
For years, Lana Maven has been the proprietress of an adult nightclub, much to the chagrin of the mayor and most of the townspeople. Even though the dancing may be called tasteful, it's not the kind of enterprise the mayor wants to represent his city. Although Mayor Connor Stevens may have intentions of shutting her down, he has desired her in secret. They may appear to be enemies, but underneath it all there's a sexual tension that neither can fight. When they finally give in and admit to their desires, they ignite. This book is short, steamy and delectable. Ri Page is an excellent narrator. Once again, her dynamic, emotional voice, solid pace and modulation of the story are perfect from start to finish and the characters feel alive.
The Proprietress and the Mayor by Victoria Silk is a steamy, ultra-short audiobook that delivers fiery tension and sizzling chemistry between Lana and Connor. The narrator does an excellent job of giving Lana’s strength and Connor’s conflicted desire distinct voices, making the enemies-to-lovers banter addictive. Despite the brief runtime, the story packs in emotional stakes, workplace tension, and plenty of spicy moments. Perfect for listeners looking for a quick, passionate escape with guaranteed HEA, this installment in the Dirty Jobs series proves opposites really do attract!
Ahh, another installment from my favourite 'Smut for Smut's Sake' author!
Lana and Connor as enemies to lovers is so well done! The 'hate' they outwardly have for each other is palpable. But, what lies beneath... that's a whole different thing. The sass and confidence from Lana is perfect to ruffle Connor's primped feathers. Now, I am not going to lie, there were a couple times I wanted to reach into my kindle and smack Connor. But boy oh boy does he make up for it. The mouth on that man and the Jekyll/Hyde switch once he gets behind closed doors... Yes, Sir!
Below quote covered by 'spoiler' in case you want to take the ride blind, ;)
Lana (the Proprietress) is a very different person than Connor (the Mayor) could ever imagine. I liked them arguing, which came mostly from their mutual attraction. They turn out to be a really good match. But… a public relationship between them could never work. Or… could it? If Connor continues to believe his reputation is the most important hing, than maybe not.
I received a free copy of the audiobook by the author through StoryOrigin, and this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I loved the narrator (Ri Page), who did a really great job bringing this story to life.
The fifth installment in this series follows Lana the Strip club owner and Connor the Mayor who is determined to shut her down. Yet the intense attraction of each for the other makes things rather complicated. This is almost more of a romance than a slutty read but it’s enjoyable and well worth a listen. Ri Paige once again gives a stellar performance and brings life to the characters. I’m looking forward to the next book featuring Butch the bouncer.

Lana, the strip club owner, and Connor, the mayor who keeps trying to shut her down?! How scandalous. I’m here for it. Lana was such an amazing female character. She’s strong and stood up for herself; she has priorities. Connor was very concerned about how his constituents would view their relationship. His concern was understandable. Loved how this all came together. How Lana made some extremely great points in her favor. My favorite one from the two in this series I’ve read.
I am really enjoying this Dirty Jobs series. I highly recommend them all so far. This is Book 5.
I was just so turned on by this couple. A strip club owner and a mayor. How could they ever mesh? This book needs more than 5 stars.
I listened to the audio version of this book. I KNOW Ri Paige's narration of this hot romance put this story way over the top for me. So sexy. So caring. So spot on with the expression and the feels of these characters. More than 5 stars for her as well.
The enemies to lovers in this book is fantastic. The chemistry and banter between Lana and Connor is top notch. Connor is a good boy by day and a Dom in the sheets. Lana has had a crush on Connor for a while, yet craves his control. *This can be read as a stand alone, however to get the full back story of the characters, I would read them in order.
❤️Enemies to Lovers 🩷Str1p Club Owner ❤️Mayor 🎧 3:35 Narrated by Ri Paige - wonderful job! 📚 Book 5 of Dirty Jobs series 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is a great story. The characters are very different. I love the love / hate vibe you get first. I love watching the story unfold and how they grow together. I really enjoy how all of the stories characters pop up from time to time. The plot was a very interesting one. Please give this story a chance.
This is the fifth book in the Dirty Jobs series. Lana and Connor’s story is sweet, spicy, and engaging, filled with witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and romance. Lana and Conner story was interesting with a sprinkle of humour, a bit of danger, and a hard earned happiness. I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story and their cat and mouse game. I liked their chemistry and their time together, but also the way Lana fought for her beliefs and rights. They had their obstacles along the way and I’m happy they achieved their happiness.
I enjoyed this story of the series. This can be listened to as a standalone however it has characters from other lines and makes more sense when these are integrated into the story. I like that they combat the closed-mindedness of the towns people.
This is a definite enemies to lovers type story and it is a short steamy listen once they cross the line from being adversaries to being lovers. It is an interesting listen and I look forward to more.
Between love and hate there’s a very fine lust line just like Lana and Connor demonstrate in this book. Ri Paige as usual narrates both POVs brilliant changing her voice to accommodate the MMC or FMC lines.
This book is nothing like Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Any similarities between the book and the movie are really reaching. Did that stop me from singing Sneaking Around With You the entire time I listened to this audio book? This book was fun. I've enjoyed all of this series.
So good! Loved this hot short story. Love a small town romance where love wins. How awesome! Definitely recommend, give it a go I’m sure it will get you going.

She's has always loved him. He hates what she does for a living, until someone opens his eyes to her good side. They have great chemistry together, but he won't be seen in public with her. Read this great little gem of a story to find out how it gets solved.
