Lydia Brownback (MAR, Westminster Theological Seminary) serves as a senior editor at Crossway in Wheaton, Illinois, and an author and speaker at women’s conferences around the world. Lydia previously served as writer in residence for Alistair Begg and as producer of the Bible Study Hour radio program with James Montgomery Boice.
The latest installment in the Flourish Bible Study series focuses on The Psalms of Ascents: Journey to Joy, offering an exploration of the fifteen songs, or Psalms, of Ascents (Psalms 120-134.)
I love simplistic yet in depth Bible studies that help me dig into God’s Word and apply what I learn to my everyday life. This 10-week Bible study series by Lydia Brownback is my favorite. As the series title reveals, they are each designed as a guide to make us more successful and prosperous in life.
On September 10 Charlie Kirk, a fierce, faithful, and courageous warrior for Christ whom I greatly respected and admired was assassinated, which makes this study’s focus on songs of worship, trust, and joy so timely. It’s a source of healing for me. Focusing my time on the Psalms of Ascents has kept me looking UP and less distracted by the noise of social media and the news.
The readings and Q&As are a wonderful aspect of this series, causing me to delve deeper than I normally do in this book of the Bible, and "The Big Picture” sections give me overall views of each passage.
This straightforward study is ideal for both group settings and individual study. I prefer working through the material on my own, allowing me to move at my own pace, but it works just as well for group study if you prefer that.

5 🌟 Lydia Brownback digs deep into the Psalms of Ascent to help us see the connections in the Old Testament to Christ’s mission. Our women’s Bible Study group has loved many of her Flourish series Bible Studies. The Psalms truly are a treasure for daily living and strengthening our faith. Content : Clean, Christian
I read this book in consideration for a future Women’s Bible Study. We have worked through quite a few of the Flourish series at our church and have always been pleased. I did not do the questions but carefully read through them. This is one of our two top choices for Fall at this point. (I’ll check back in once we decide.)
